Eating food not kept correctly could make you fall sick. The fridge may be a perfect choice for keeping food safe and fresh, but it is not a magic box to keep all kinds of food. Follow these tips and learn how to store food correctly in your fridge. The temperature in the fresh-keeping area can be different from shelf to shelf. As a general rule, the higher the shelf is, the higher the temperature will be. So make use of these different temperatures to get the best out of your food by storing it on the right shelf. Try to put ready-to-eat food like burgers, pizza or cream cakes on top shelves. The middle shelves are most suitable for dairy products (such as cheese, butter and yogurt) and eggs. Bottom shelves are the coldest part of the fridge, making them perfect for storing uncooked meat and seafood. Some fridges have a freezer (冷冻室) for keeping these things, so of course make use of that if you have one. Keeping food in the fridge does not kill bacteria (细菌), but it can stop the bacteria from growing fast. Bacteria can grow quickly in temperatures between 5℃ and 60℃. This is called the Temperature Danger Zone. If you want to get the most out of your food, the temperature in your fridge needs to be between 0℃ and 5℃. The freezer temperature should be below -18℃. Fruit and vegetables can also be stored at room temperature. Try to keep them in a cool, dry and dark place, away from direct sunlight or sources of heat. Once cut, they should be put in the fridge. Everyone should pay attention to food safety. Hope these tips can help you keep your food fresh for as long as possible. 根据材料内容选择最佳答案。 21. Which of the following should be put on the bottom shelves? A. Eggs. B. Milk. C. Cakes. D. Meat. 22. What does the underlined words “dairy products” mean in the text? A. 小零食 B. 膨化食品 C. 乳制品 D. 速冻食品 23. If you put some food in the Temperature Danger Zone, what will it happen? A. It will freeze fast. B. It will be safe to eat. C. It will go bad very quickly. D. It will taste and smell better. 24. What should you do when it comes to storing fruit and vegetables? A. We should keep them cool and dry. B. We should try to keep them as wet as possible. C. We should wash them before putting them in the fridge. D. We should cut them and keep the pieces at room temperature. 25. What is the structure of the text? A. B. C. D. B When I was young, flowers filled my mom’s garden each spring. I never thought that Mom had done much about them, until she shared her secret with me. One day last November, Mom and I spent a whole morning planting flower bulbs (球根花卉). I dropped one in each hole and covered it with soil. My fingers were numb (麻木的) by the time we finished. However, the ground looked just as empty and flat as it had been before. Then Mom told me to wait. I didn’t only wait — I watched. I watched hopefully all through the winter... On the last day of April, I went outside to find the garden full of colorful flowers.    ▲    “My boy, tomorrow morning,” Mom said, “we will walk the neighborhood and leave a basket of flowers on each doorstep.” “What?” I almost cried. “Are we selling our flowers?” “Of course not,” she said excitedly. “In fact, nobody will even know they’re from us. We’ll leave them at our neighbors’ as a surprise. Doesn’t that sound fun?” “To me, it doesn’t sound fun at all!” I replied unwillingly (不情愿地). “They’re our flowers. We should keep them for ourselves!” “Flowers are like kindness,” Mom said. “Their beauty is meant to be shared.” Early the next morning, Mom woke me up. We brought the baskets and stopped near the first house. I took one basket, set it by the doorstep and rang the bell. Then we quickly ran away, hid behind the trees and waited. Finally, the door opened. A man came out, looking surprised. He picked up the flower basket and then smiled. Mom hugged me. I got a good feeling inside. Now I knew what she meant about beauty sharing. I couldn’t wait to get to the next house! By the time we got home, I was grinning (咧着嘴笑) from ear to ear. The garden was empty, but my heart was full. 根据材料内容选择最佳答案。 26. How did the writer feel when he watched the garden during the winter? A. Sleepy. B. Excited. C. Hopeful. D. Serious. 27. The writer was tired after the morning’s work. C. The writer wanted to plant more flowers next year. D. The writer felt happy because he learned to share. C Though oceans cover about 71% of the earth's surface, there's still a lot we don’t know about them. Only about 20% of the seafloor has been mapped. Scientists use special machines to record the shape and location of the ocean floor. The remaining 80% is still a secret to us. Some scientists even think that 91% of sea animals have yet to be discovered. So why do we know so little about the deep sea? Well, getting to those depths (深度) is very difficult and requires high technology that simply didn't come into being for most of human history. The first navigable submarine (可驾驶的潜水艇), for example, was built in 1620, and it couldn’t go more than five meters below the surface. In fact, for a long time, many scientists didn't even think that there could be any life at depths greater than 550 meters and didn’t see much need to explore the deep sea. However, this changed in 1862 when life was discovered as far down as 945 meters below sea level with the help of a digging machine. Ten years later, around 4,700 species (物种) unknown before from the ocean floor were discovered. Since then, high technology has been developed to help explore the deep sea, including satellites (卫星). But why is deep-sea exploration still so difficult? Well, at greater depths it is freezing. Everything is completely dark, and the pressure is much greater than that on the surface. Though we have the difficulties, it's important that we understand the seas. They help control the earth’s temperature and produce half of the oxygen (氧气) in the air. They can also provide us with information about climate change. Our future depends on learning more about our oceans, and it is possible for us to really understand what is ongoing below the surface. 根据材料内容选择最佳答案。 31. How much of the seafloor has been mapped so far? A. About 20%. B. About 71%. C. About 80%. D. About 91%. 32. What did many scientists believe for a long time before 1862? A. There were many new sea animals in the deep sea. B. There couldn’t be any life below 550 meters of the sea. C. The first submarine could go deep into the ocean. D. It was easy to explore the deep sea with old tools. 33. Which of the following is NOT the difficulty of deep-sea exploration? A. Low temperature. B. No sunlight. C. Huge water pressure. D. Too many sea animals. 34. How does the writer start the last paragraph? A. By listing some numbers about the sea animals. B. By telling the main idea of the paragraph directly. C. By asking a question to get readers thinking. D. By telling a story to make the article interesting. 35. What is the best title for the passage? A. The Newly Discovered Sea Animals B. The History of Submarine Development C. Why We Know Little About the Deep Sea D. How Oceans Control Earth's Temperature D Success doesn’t come easily.
