Dry the chest if it’s wet.(③脱掉胸前衣物);第二步:Place one pad on the upper right chest and the other on the lower left chest.(①贴上电极片);第三步:Turn on the AED, connect the pads to the machine and follow the voice instructions.(②打开AED);第四步:While the AED is analyzing the patient’s heart rhythm, make sure no one touches the patient(④分析心律时确保无人接触);第五步:If the AED says no shock is necessary, start CPR immediately.(⑤开始心肺复苏)。 【17题详解】 “Notes”部分明确指出:“STOP CPR when...the patient wakes up or starts breathing normally.” B In a narrow hutong in Beijing stands a small library. It is only seven square meters in size, but it holds thousands of books on different subjects. Unlike traditional libraries, this one invites readers to take books for free—one every 15 days—without returning them. Instead, it encourages them to pass those books on to friends, family, or even strangers when they’ve finished reading. “Share the stories,” says a sign on the wooden door. This library was started by Mr. Xu, a businessman, in 2010. The idea took shape when Xu recommended books online to students, but found it hard for them to get the books from their school libraries. So, Xu bought and gave away nearly 1,000 books in the following years. The students who received the books were very thankful. They sent him thank-you letters, “These letters made me want to create a real library,” Xu said. Xu’s library might be the smallest in the world, but in another sense, it’s also the biggest because its books keep moving. Once, a reader took home an English book on Chinese history. A week later, he passed it on to a neighbor. Amazingly, the book traveled all the way abroad and ended up in Germany. “The journey of the book is a wonder. Many wonders like this keep the culture of reading alive,” Xu tells the newspaper. Even with e-books becoming popular, Xu won’t stop his work. “Books changed my life,” he says. “This library is the most meaningful thing I’ve done.” His dream is to keep it open forever. “If someone doesn’t pass a book along,” Xu smiles, “it still helped one person. Maybe that book will make their whole family love reading. That’s what matters.” 19. How is the library different? A. It sits in a famous tourist area. B. It has the biggest book collection. C. Books are passed on, not returned. D. Only students can borrow the books. 20. Why did Mr. Xu start the small library? A. He received many free books. B. University students asked him to. C. To become a famous businessman. D. Students’ thank-you letters encouraged him. 21. What does “this” refer to in Paragraph 3? A. Donating books to Germany. B. Books traveling between readers. C. Building the smallest library. D. The English book about Chinese history. 22. What is the main idea of this passage? A. Mr. Xu’s library and how it spreads reading. B. Differences between old and new libraries. C. Why e-books are better than paper books. D. The famous old streets in Beijing. C 20. D 21. B 22. 【19题详解】 第一段明确指出:“Unlike traditional libraries, this one invites readers to take books for free…without returning them. Instead, it encourages them to pass those books on to friends, family, or even strangers.” 【20题详解】 第二段明确指出:“The students who received the books were very thankful. They sent him thank-you letters, ‘These letters made me want to create a real library,’ Xu said.” 【21题详解】 第三段中,徐先生讲述了一本英文书从读者传到邻居,再传到德国的故事,随后说“The journey of the book is a wonder. Many wonders like this keep the culture of reading alive.” C Have you ever looked at a calendar and wondered why February is so short? While most months have 30 or 31 days, February has only 28-except every four years, when it gets an extra day. This unusual fact has its roots in ancient history. Long ago, the Romans used a calendar that had only 10 months. It started in March and ended in December. The winter time between December and March was simply not named. For the Romans, this time of year was unimportant because there was no farming work to do. Around 700 BC, the second king of Rome, Numa Pompilius, decided to make a change. He wanted the calendar to better match the cycles of the moon. His new calendar had 355 days in a year. To reach this number, he added two new months at the end: January and February. But Numa had a problem. The Romans believed that even numbers were unlucky. So he wanted every month to have an odd number of days-either 29 or 31. However, if he did this, the total days would add up to an even number. To solve this, one month had to be even. February was chosen, probably because the Romans honored the dead in this month and considered it unlucky. For years, people used Numa’s calendar. But it still didn’t match the solar year perfectly. In 45 BC, Julius Caesar asked an astronomer to create a new calendar based on the sun. This calendar, known as the Julian calendar, added 10 days to the year. Most months got one or two extra days, but February remained at 28 days. Every four years, a leap year (闰年) added one day to February to keep the calendar in line with the seasons. This system worked so well that we still use a similar one today. So the next time you look at February and wish it were longer, remember: its shortness is a gift from ancient Roman history. 23. What was the Roman calendar like before Numa Pompilius? A. It had 12 months with names for each. B. It started in January and ended in December. C. It had 10 months and no names for winter months D. It was exactly the same as the calendar we use today. 24. Which sentence uses “even” with the same meaning as “even numbers” in Paragraph 4? A. 2, 4, 6 and 8 are even, but 1, 3, 5 and 7 are not. B. The table surface is not completely even. C. She even helped me clean the room after the party. D. Even though it rained, we still enjoyed the picnic. 25. According to the passage, which of the following are reasons why February became the shortest month? ①Numa wanted the calendar to match the cycles of the moon. ②The Romans thought even numbers were unlucky. ③February was the month when Romans honored the dead. ④ Julius Caesar added days to other months but not to February. A. ①②③ B. ②③④ C. ①②④ D. ①③④ 26. How does the writer mainly explain why February has 28 days? A. By listing all the months and their number of days. B. By describing how farmers planned their work each year. C. By comparing different calendars from around the world. D. By telling the story of how the Roman calendar changed over time. C 24. A 25. B 26. D 【解析】 【导语】这篇文章主要介绍了二月天数少于其他月份的历史由来 【23题详解】 根据文章第二段内容“Long ago, the Romans used a calendar that had only 10 months. It started in March and ended in December. The winter time between December and March was simply not named.” 【24题详解】 根据文章第四段中“The Romans believed that even numbers were unlucky.” D ①If traffic noise makes you feel angry, you’re not alone. Scientists found that birds get mad too! A new study in the journal Animal Behavior shows that male Galapagos yellow warblers (黄莺) living near busy roads become very “bad-tempered (易怒的)” when they hear car sounds. This means traffic noise doesn’t just bother people, but also wildlife. ②The Galapagos Islands are a famous wildlife home in the Pacific Ocean. Many plants and animals there live nowhere else on earth, making them perfect for watching wild animals. However, the islands’ popularity has brought many more people. In the 1960s, only 2,000 people lived there. Now, about 32,000 people live there, and over 200,000 tourists visit yearly. This has led to many more cars on the roads and much more noise pollution. ③Scientists from two universities studied how traffic noise affects island animals. They watched 38 male yellow warblers. Half lived near roads, while the other half lived in quiet areas. These birds protect their homes by singing loudly to warn other birds away, and sometimes even fighting. Researchers played two recordings: one with only a male warbler’s song, and another mixing the song with traffic noise. They recorded how the birds behaved. ④They found that birds near roads became much angrier when they heard traffic noise mixed with bird song. They flew right next to the speaker and circled it repeatedly—behavior suggesting they were ready to fight. Scientists believe these birds may know traffic covers their songs. Moving closer to be heard is dangerous because cars on the roads might hit them. ⑤The research team wants people to care more about how noise pollution harms wildlife. While finding places with no human noise at all is difficult, we can still help animals. Simple ideas like using roads that reduce noise or making “quiet times” when birds raise their young could greatly help animals like the yellow warblers. 27. What does the underlined word “bother” probably mean? A. Make someone angry. B. Keep someone calm. C. Get someone’s attention. D. Make someone scared. 28. Why has the traffic noise increased on the Galapagos Islands? A. Because more people brought cars there. B. Because more scientists study birds there. C. Because the islands have special animals. D. Because warblers are attracted to traffic noise. 29. What did the scientists find about the birds living near roads? A. They liked the traffic noise and sang more happily. B. They got much angrier when they heard noisy bird songs. C. They flew away from the speaker when they heard any sound. D. They were not affected by the traffic noise and acted normally. 30. What’s the structure of the passage? A. B. C. D. 【答案】27. A 28. A 29. B 30. 【27题详解】 第一段指出:“traffic noise doesn’t just bother people, but also wildlife.” 结合上文“birds get mad too”和“male Galapagos yellow warblers living near busy roads become very ‘bad-tempered’ when they hear car sounds”,说明交通噪音会让人和野生动物都感到愤怒,因此“bother”意为“让某人生气”。 【28题详解】 第二段指出:“the islands’ popularity has brought many more people... This has led to many more cars on the roads and much more noise pollution.” 【29题详解】 第四段明确指出:“They found that birds near roads became much angrier when they heard traffic noise mixed with bird song. They flew right next to the speaker and circled it repeatedly—behavior suggesting they were ready to fight.” Our country is planning to start special train services for elderly people. C Have you ever looked at a calendar and wondered why February is so short? D ①If traffic noise makes you feel angry, you’re not alone. A. B. C.
