Passage 3
Do you know which mountain is the highest in the world? 1 It stands tall in the Himalayas, on the border of China and Nepal. Many people ask: How high is it?
For a long time, people tried to find Qomolangma’s height. In 2020, Chinese and Nepali scientists measured it again. 2 This is a little taller than before. Why does the height change? 3 Over time, they push the mountains up.
Climbing Qomolangma is very hard. 4 There are strong winds and heavy snow. But every year, many climbers want to get to the top. Why? For some, it’s a dream to test themselves. For others, it’s about the view and the feeling of standing “on top of the world.”
The first people to climb Qomolangma were Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary in 1953. After that, more people did it. 5 In 1960, three Chinese climbers—Wang Fuzhou, Gong Bu, and Qu Yinhua—were the first to climb from the north side, which is harder.
Qomolangma is more than a mountain, it shows how brave and strong people can be. It tells us that if we try hard, we can beat any problem. What do you think? Would you like to know more about this great mountain?

1.上文问“Do you know which mountain is the highest in the world?”空格后紧接着“It stands tall in the Himalayas...”
2.上文说“In 2020, Chinese and Nepali scientists measured it again.” 空格后提到“This is a little taller than before.”
3.上文问“Why does the height change?”空格后说“Over time, they push the mountains up.”
4.上文说“Climbing Qomolangma is very hard.”
5.上文说“After that, more people did it.”空格后详细介绍“In 1960, three Chinese climbers—Wang Fuzhou, Gong Bu, and Qu Yinhua—were the first to climb from the north side...”
