How nosebleeds happen:
Nosebleeds are very common among children. Blowing (擤) the nose too hard or getting hit on the nose while playing can cause nosebleeds. Catching a cold can also cause nosebleeds. Usually, the bleeding isn’t very serious and it will stop in less than ten minutes.
When nosebleeds happen:
Your child may be afraid that there is something seriously wrong. Crying may make the bleeding worse, so it is important for you to tell him that he will be fine.
How to give first aid:
Let your child sit upright (直立) and tell him to put his head down. Help your child press both sides of the nose for ten minutes. Do not stop to see if the bleeding stops.
If first aid works:
Let your child rest for the next 12-24 hours. Tell him to do quiet activities, such as drawing, reading or watching TV.
Tell him not to take a hot shower for at least 24 hours after a nosebleed.
Tell him not to touch or blow his nose for 24 hours.
If first aid doesn’t work;
You'd better take him to the hospital.

文中提到流鼻血的原因有“Blowing the nose too hard or getting hit on the nose while playing”和“Catching a cold”,共3个原因。故选C。
文中明确说明“Crying may make the bleeding worse”,因此哭泣会加重出血。故选D。
文中提到流鼻血后的24小时内,可以做“quiet activities, such as drawing, reading or watching TV”,同时禁止洗热水澡、擤鼻子、剧烈运动,因此“Watch TV”是正确选项。故选A。
A 选项:文中提到“the bleeding isn’t very serious and it will stop in less than ten minutes”,说明流鼻血通常不严重,因此“though it’s very serious”表述错误;B 选项:急救方法要求“put his head down”,而非“keep his head up”,表述错误;C选项:文中说明“Do not stop to see if the bleeding stops”,而非“often stop pressing the nose”,表述错误;D选项:文中提到“If first aid doesn’t work; You’d better take him to the hospital”,说明急救无效时应立即送医,表述正确。故选D。

B
The Eye of the Sahara is one of the most amazing natural wonders on earth. It is located in the desert of Mauritania, Africa. It has a diameter (直径) of about the length of 500 football fields. Viewed from the sky, it looks like a huge, bright eye! The eye also looks like a big round pizza with different-coloured parts.
How did it come into being? Long ago, the ground under the sand started to rise. Then, wind and rain slowly broke down the soft rocks, leaving the hard ones behind. Over time, these hard rocks formed the beautiful circles we see today. From above, you can count about 10 circles, and each one has a different colour. The biggest circle is on the outside, with smaller ones inside.
________ The desert is very dry, and sandstorms often sweep across it. The sand covers the rocks and makes them difficult to see. Also, few people know about this amazing place because it’s far from big cities.
What can we do to help? Scientists are studying the Eye to find ways to conserve the rocks. They want to keep the rocks safe and stop the blowing sand from breaking them down. Some people also suggest building a small road or a simple visitor centre nearby to help more people know about the Eye of the Sahara. At the same time, they advise people to take measures to protect the rocks.
26. The example of 500 football fields in Paragraph 1 is used to show ________.
A. how large the Eye is B. why the Eye is bright
C. when the Eye appears D. where the Eye is in Africa
27. How did the hard rocks in the Eye of the Sahara form the circles?
A. Sand carried soft rocks away. B. Wind and rain kept them hard.
C. Sandstorms covered soft rocks up. D. Wind and rain broke soft rocks down.
28. Which of the following can be put in “________” in Paragraph 3?
A. The reasons are clear. B. So many tourists visit there.
C. And a lot of people love the desert. D. But the Eye of the Sahara is hard to find.
29. What does the underlined word “conserve” in Paragraph 4 mean?
A. Protect. B. Change. C. Describe. D. Discover.
30. What is the passage mainly about?
A. The history of rocks. B. Building roads in the desert.
C. A natural wonder and its trouble. D. Different deserts around the world.
26. A 27. D 28. D 29. A 30. C
第一段指出“It has a diameter of about the length of 500 football fields.”,用500个足球场的长度来类比直径,目的是直观说明撒哈拉之眼的尺寸大小。
第二段指出“Then, wind and rain slowly broke down the soft rocks, leaving the hard ones behind. Over time, these hard rocks formed the beautiful circles we see today.”,风雨侵蚀了较软的岩石,留下坚硬的岩石,最终形成了环形结构。
第四段指出“They want to keep the rocks safe and stop the blowing sand from breaking them down.”,科学家的目的是保护岩石不受风沙破坏,因此“conserve”的含义与“保护”一致。

Proper relaxation ________ her ________ ________ bad grades.
【答案】 ①. stops##keeps##prevents ②. from ③. getting
故填stops/keeps/prevents;from;getting。

at the age of + 数字,固定搭配,意为 “在……岁时”。
【53题详解】
句意:比她大十岁的姐姐制定了一个照顾她的计划。make a plan制定计划,全文讲述过去的故事,时态为一般过去时,make要变为过去式made。
【54题详解】
句意:但Anna拒绝和姐姐一起住,她说她想自己照顾自己。根据空前“Anna refused to live with her sister”可知她想照顾自己,look after oneself 照顾自己;主语是Anna,女性,反身代词用herself。
根据前文“She studied harder than before.”可知她已经做好了准备,be ready to do sth. “准备好做某事”,是固定结构。
【57题详解】
句意:虽然我失去了双臂,但我还有双腿。句中“I lost my arms”这是不幸的事,“I still have my legs”这是幸运的事,两者是让步转折关系,承认前面的不幸,但是强调后面的希望,所以用although。
根据前文“Instead of feeling upset every day, she didn’t let them hold her back.”

I’m Patrick McCarthy, and you can call me Pat. This is the space where I can help you with your daily life problems. Go ahead and ask away!
Dear Patrick,
Every time I look through my phone, I see someone having the time of their lives. When I miss out on something fun or important that my friends are experiencing, I feel worried. How can I avoid this?
—Sarah
Hi, Sarah,
This is a big reason why so many people worry about social media’s influence on teenagers. Feeling worried as a result of looking through your phone is quite normal, even if it is unhealthy.
Quite a lot of people post their pictures or videos on social media. Most of them share the best parts of their lives. You must keep in mind that they do so to share good feelings with others. It’s hard to find people sharing their bad moments, like feeling stressed about their homework or ashamed (羞愧的) after failing a test. If seeing these videos and photos still causes bad feelings, stop connecting for a while and do something that makes you pleased and relaxed. Try to read or spend some time with your family. You don’t need to impress (使留下深刻的好印象) anyone else.
