When my friend first suggested that we join the new Tai Chi Club at school, I said without thinking twice, “No. Tai Chi is for grandparents.” But after the first few classes, I learned how wrong I was—it was amazing!
The first few Tai Chi classes were fun and easy, and the moves really caught my imagination (想象), with creative names like “White Crane Spreading Its Wings” and “Golden Rooster Standing On One Leg”. When I asked my coach where these interesting names came from, he told me the history of Tai Chi. Zhang Sanfeng, a 13th-century Taoist (道家), first got the idea of Tai Chi moves after watching a fight between a bird and a snake. About four hundred years later, Chen Wangting developed Tai Chi according to kungfu moves. Some of these kungfu moves copied animal actions (动作). That’s why some Tai Chi moves are named after animals.
However, after a few weeks, I grew bored and ached from making the same moves again and again. Luckily, my coach was kind. He taught me how to relax my muscles (肌肉) and pay attention to the peace of mind. Slowly, I improved and even learned harder moves. My coach said Tai Chi balanced (平衡) yin and yang through slow, opposite actions: up and down, left and right, forward and backward. This brought both balance in the body and calmness in mind. My love for Tai Chi grew stronger than ever.
Thanks to a year of practice, great changes have taken place in myself. I sleep better and feel more active, even though I am busy with study. Tai Chi has made me happier and more confident when I face problems. I’ll certainly keep practising—it’s a lifelong gift!
19. Why did the writer say no to the Tai Chi Club at first?
A. Because he thought Tai Chi was for the old.
B. Because he didn’t know how to play Tai Chi.
C. Because playing Tai Chi was too hard for him.
D. Because playing Tai Chi was too slow and soft.
20. What has the writer learned in the Tai Chi Club?
A. Tai Chi is famous because of its interesting names.
B. Zhang Sanfeng developed fun and easy Tai Chi moves.
C. The balance of yin and yang relaxes the body and the mind.
D. Chen Wangting watched a fight between a bird and a snake.
21. How did the writer’s love for learning Tai Chi change?
A. B.
C. D.
22. What’s the main idea of the passage?
A. The importance of Tai Chi.
B. The advice on learning Tai Chi.
C. The interesting moves of Tai Chi.
D. The experiences of learning Tai Chi.

When you pack for an exchange trip, what gifts would you choose? In the past, Chinese students usually chose traditional objects like paper-cuts. Now, many Gen Z (born between 1995 and 2009) Chinese students use “guochao” objects as new cultural name cards. This shows how young Chinese people are finding new ways to connect with the world.
Hanfu, Li-Ning clothes with Chinese designs and “White Rabbit” candies are at the top of their gift lists. These choices aren’t random (随意的). They are cheap for students and easy to carry. They also show what China is like a country that has a long history but is always creating new things. They let young people show cultural confidence quietly. Zhang Lin, an 18-year-old girl, said, “I gave my host sister in Australia a light blue hanfu. She loved it and wore it to a party. We talked about Chinese history and fashion for hours. It felt like sharing part of myself, not just a gift.”
These gifts change people’s old ideas about China. Foreign friends used to think that Chinese culture was all about ancient things like calligraphy. But they are surprised by “guochao” objects—they see a cool and modern China. These gifts make cultural exchanges friendly chats instead of “lessons” about the past.
Through these small but meaningful gifts, young Chinese people paint a new picture of China: a creative country that is proud of its past. This move towards “guochao” gifts is a big step forward in cultural exchanges.
23. What do “guochao” gifts represent (代表) about China?
A. A mix of tradition and modern creativity.
B. A place without fashion.
C. A country with nothing but old habits.
D. A country with more and more foreign cultural ideas.
24. Why did the writer mention Zhang Lin’s words?
A. To show how to choose a good gift for a host family.
B. To tell readers about Australian school parties.
C. To show that hanfu is the most popular “guochao” gift.
D. To give an example of the cultural value (价值) of “guochao” gifts.
25. Which question does Paragraph 3 mainly answer?
A. What traditional gifts do foreign friends prefer?
B. Why do students find “guochao” gifts easy to pack?
C. What influence do “guochao” gifts have on foreigners’ opinions of China?
D. Which “guochao” gifts are popular among young Chinese students?
26. Why did the writer write the text?
A. To tell us traditional gifts are not popular.
B. To introduce Gen Z’s “guochao” gifts for cultural exchanges.
C. To explain why foreign people love Chinese objects.
D. To describe how Zhang Lin made a foreign friend.

Health experts often remind us that eating lots of fruit and vegetables is good for our health. But do you know that eating food of different colors is also important? This idea, sometimes called “eating the rainbow”, is a simple but useful way to make sure your body gets all the goodness it needs.
▲ The answer lies in something called phytochemicals (植物化学物质). They not only give fruit and vegetables their colors, but also offer different health benefits. For example, the phytochemicals in carrots give them the orange color and make them good for our joints (关节).
Experts often sort colorful foods into several main groups: yellow, white brown, red, orange, purple blue, and green. Every group has something valuable to offer, so trying to get one or two things from each group each day is a good goal.
What might a day of “eating the rainbow” look like? For breakfast, you could have milk with strawberries, bananas and blueberries. That covers red, yellow, and purple blue. For lunch, you could have a salad with lettuce (生菜), carrots, purple cabbage, corn and red peppers. That covers green, orange, purple blue, yellow and red. Then for dinner, you could have cauliflower (花椰菜). It covers white brown. In this way, you can cover all the different color groups in one day.
In short, by filling your plate with different colors every day, you can easily make your meals healthier. Mother Nature makes it easy for us.
27. What is the main purpose of “eating the rainbow”?
A. To help you eat less meat.
B. To make meals look more beautiful.
C. To follow the most popular eating habits.
D. To help your body get all the nutrients (营养物).
28. Which of the following can we put into the blank “ ▲ ” in Paragraph 2?
A. Why do things have different colours?
B. Why do colours matter so much?
C. How can we get more healthy food?
D. What are the main food colour groups?
29. Who had the best dinner according to the “rainbow diet” idea?
A. Leo: I had potatoes and porridge.
B. Maya: I ate a bowl of mutton dumplings.
C. Sam: I had fish, steamed corn, carrots and grapes.
D. Lena: I had tomato soup, red peppers and strawberries.
30. What could be the best title for the text?
A. A Healthy Way of Eating
B. A Prediction for Healthy Eating
C. How to Sort Foods by Colour
D. The Importance of Fruit and Vegetables

21. How did the writer’s love for learning Tai Chi change?

【答案】23. A 24. D 25. C 26. B

【23题详解】
根据第二段中“They also show what China is like a country that has a long history but is always creating new things.”
这一例子是为了具体说明前文提到的“They let young people show cultural confidence quietly”,即展示国潮礼物的文化价值。
【25题详解】
第三段首句指出“These gifts change people’s old ideas about China.”,随后描述了外国人从认为中国文化只是古老事物到看到现代、酷中国的转变。

First, you have the flu with a runny nose and a sore throat. You’d better take some medicine and drink plenty of warm water. When you go out, please wear a mask.
Second, your parents often compare you with your cousin, which made you argue with them. I suggest you write a letter to them.
