“Ni hao, we’re all Chinese now.”
This is what many foreign young people are saying on TikTok today. A new trend (趋势) called “Becoming Chinese” has become very popular in the West. Thousands of people are sharing videos of themselves “learning to be Chinese.” Young people are falling in love with the Chinese way of life, and they think it is very cool. Here is some advice to become Chinese!
Start the day with a cup of warm tea to relax themselves.
Wear soft indoor slippers (拖鞋) to keep away from “han qi” (cold energy).
Practice Tai Chi with others in parks.
Take a hot foot bath (足浴) before going to bed.
In the past, people thought Chinese healthy living habits were only for the old. In China, this is called “Yang Sheng”, which means taking care of one’s health to live a long and healthy life. But now many foreign young people make videos about their practices.
Why is this trend so popular? The main reason is that in a busy and stressful (有压力的) world, Chinese habits are helpful for people to feel better. For example, drinking warm water is better for our body than cold drinks. Wearing indoor slippers keeps the house clean and the feet relaxed. Young people find that these small changes can be good for their health and mind.
This trend also shows that China’s “soft power (软实力)” is growing. From collecting Labubu dolls to drinking Mixue bubble tea, Chinese brands (品牌) are becoming a part of young people’s culture. When people wear clothes made in China, use technology created (创造) in China, and follow trends started in China, “becoming Chinese” is really becoming a popular way of life in the world.
3. Tom, an American boy, is a fan of “Becoming Chinese”. What things may he choose to do?
① ② ③ ④
A. ①②③ B. ①③④ C. ②③④
4. How does the writer show that Chinese habits are helpful?
A. By telling a story. B. By using numbers. C. By giving examples.
5. What is the purpose of the text?
A. To introduce a new trend.
B. To show China’s soft power.
C. To ask people to “yang sheng” .
6. In which part of a magazine can we find the passage?
A. Science & Technology. B. Sports & Arts. C. Health & Culture.
B 4. C 5. A 6. C
第三段列出了“成为中国人”的建议:“Start the day with a cup of warm tea”、“Wear soft indoor slippers”、“Practice Tai Chi”、“Take a hot foot bath”。
第六段说明中国习惯的益处:“For example, drinking warm water is better for our body than cold drinks. Wearing indoor slippers keeps the house clean and the feet relaxed.”,作者通过“For example”给出具体例子来说明。
A项“To introduce a new trend”准确概括了作者的写作目的。
C
Dogs are often called “man’s best friend” . But in Bolzano, Italy, they may also be “expensive (昂贵的) roommates”. Starting in 2026, this northern Italian city will tax (征税) dog owners. Visitors will pay €1.50 each night for their dogs. Local (当地的) dog owners will pay €10 every month.
The city will use the money to clean dog waste on streets and build new dog parks. Luis Walcher who had this idea is a city leader. He said cleaning streets should not be everyone’s job. Only dog owners should pay for it.
Bolzano has the trouble with dog waste for years. In 2024, the city made a rule to work out this problem—dog owners must record (记录) their dogs’ DNA. This helps the city find owners who do not clean up after their pets. These owners may pay up to €600. If owners already recorded their dogs’ DNA, they do not need to pay for two years.
But not everyone likes this rule. Carla Rocchi loves animals, but she thinks people who travel with dogs should not be punished (处罚). “Dogs are family, not taxpayers (纳税人). The city should teach owners to clean up, not just punish them,” she said.
What do you think of it? Should dog owners pay more money? Or is it unfair (不公平的) to pets and their families?
7. How much money do local dog owners need to pay every year if they don’t record their dogs’ DNA?
A. €1.50. B. €10. C. €120.
8. What does the underlined word “waste” probably mean in paragraph 2?
A. Food. B. Poop (排泄物). C. Noise.
9. Why will the city tax dog owners?
A. To record their dogs’ DNA in the city.
B. To make more local people keep dogs.
C. To help work out the dog waste problem.
10. What is the best title for the passage?
A. Ways to look after dogs well
B. Different ideas about city cleaning
C. Special tax for dog owners in Italy
C 8. B 9. C 10. C
根据文章第一段“Local dog owners will pay €10 every month.”
根据文章第二段“The city will use the money to clean dog waste on streets and build new dog parks.”以及第三段“Bolzano has the trouble with dog waste for years. In 2024, the city made a rule to work out this problem...”

B. To make more local people keep dogs.
C. To help work out the dog waste problem.
