There are times in life when we don’t have the energy to get through our problems or the strength to push ahead. That’s when our friends carry us. They remind us that we are not alone — they stand with and comfort us. Even when some friends don’t always know how best to help, they want to be there for us.
Author Parker J. Palmer in his book, Let Your Life Speak, shares about the time he was battling depression (抑郁). He recalls that some people who visited him tried to cheer him up. “It’s a beautiful day. Why don’t you go out and soak up some sunshine and look at the flowers?” Although he understood their purpose, it made him more depressed. Others reminded him that he was a teacher and writer who had helped so many people. “Try to remember all the good you’ve done and surely you’ll feel better.” That advice, too, left him depressed.
Then there were those who had the courage to stand with him in simple and healing ways. One was a guy named Bill who asked Parker’s permission to visit him in the afternoons. Bill would sit Parker in the chair, kneel in front of him, remove his shoes and socks and for half an hour, massage (按摩) his feet. Bill had found the only place in Parker’s body where he could still experience feelings and reconnect with the human race. Bill would simply do this and say very little. When he talked, he would not give advice but mirror Parker’s feelings. This simple act of care was what carried Parker through his dark time.
We are thankful for the friends who sit with us in easy and healing ways. And we are thankful for the opportunity to be that friend, to offer our presence to those who are hurting, sick, battling depression, suffering great pain and more. May the pathways of love, patience and kindness lead us to friends who are suffering. And once there, even if we are unsure of what to do, we can simply be present.
4. According to paragraph 2, how did Parker find his friends’ ways to cheer him up?
A. Nice but unhelpful. B. Warm but old-fashioned.
C. Simple but creative. D. Kind but unimaginative.
5. What effect did Bill’s massage have on Parker?
A. It reduced his physical pain. B. It encouraged him to take advice.
C. It helped him reconnect with the world. D. It gave him professional medical care.
6. What does the author suggest we do to help our friends?
A. Be thankful to them. B. Keep them company.
C. Be quick to respond. D. Offer practical advice.
7. Which of the following is the most suitable title for the text?
A. How to Win over People and Make Friends
B. The Benefit of Friendships in Battling Depression
C. The Great Power of Simply Being Present for a Friend
D. Why Friends can Carry You Through Your Darkest Times
A 5. C 6. B 7. C

Others reminded him that he was a teacher and writer who had helped so many people. “Try to remember all the good you’ve done and surely you’ll feel better.” That advice, too, left him depressed.(虽然明白他们的目的,但这却让他更加郁闷了。
根据第三段中“Bill would sit Parker in the chair, kneel in front of him, remove his shoes and socks and for half an hour, massage (按摩) his feet. Bill had found the only place in Parker’s body where he could still experience feelings and reconnect with the human race. (比尔会让帕克坐在椅子上,跪在他面前,脱掉他的鞋子和袜子,按摩他的脚半个小时。比尔在帕克体内找到了唯一能让他体验感情并与人类重新建立联系的地方)”可知,比尔对帕克的按摩帮助他重新与世界建立联系。故选C。
【6题详解】

【7题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,根据第一段中“There are times in life when we don’t have the energy to get through our problems or the strength to push ahead. That’s when our friends carry us. They remind us that we are not alone — they stand with and comfort us. (生活中有时我们没有精力解决问题,也没有力量继续前进。那时我们的朋友载着我们。他们提醒我们,我们并不孤单——他们与我们站在一起并安慰我们。)”可知,第一段提出了朋友陪伴我们让我们感到并不孤单,接着文章以患有抑郁症的Parker J. Palmer为例,第二段指出一些朋友来安慰他但是没有缓解他的抑郁症,第三段介绍了朋友Bill通过简单的陪伴缓解了Parker J. Palmer的抑郁症,最后一段中的“And we are thankful for the opportunity to be that friend, to offer our presence to those who are hurting, sick, battling depression, suffering great pain and more...And once there, even if we are unsure of what to do, we can simply be present.(我们感谢有机会成为那个朋友,向那些正在受伤、生病、与抑郁作斗争、遭受巨大痛苦等的人们提供我们的陪伴……一旦到达那里,即使我们不确定该做什么,我们也可以只是出现在那里)”可知,最后一段作者呼吁我们要陪伴朋友,哪怕只是出现在朋友面前。由此可知,文章主要介绍了出现在朋友面前简单地陪伴这个小动作的重要性,C项“只是出现在朋友面前会带来伟大的力量”适合作文章标题,故选C。

Is this text AI-generated? That question crops up a lot these days. Computer software to flag AI-generated text exists. But most programs share one crucial weakness, says Jun Jang: no sense of style. His new software hopes to fill that gap.
Jun’s program takes note of a writer’s stylistic characteristics. It can then use those characteristics to check if another text was written by the same person. Jun says his project was motivated by seeing students admit using AI tools on classroom assignments.
But relying too much on these tools can erode someone’s creativity. It can also harm their ability to work out problems themselves, Jun says. And young people are most at risk. “I figured that by me making an attempt to solve this issue, I could help millions of teachers as well as maybe help kids become more creative and spark more innovation.” Jun says.
AI use for homework is not rare. The Turnitin program is an existing tool to check who wrote a piece of text. In the first year it was available, it analyzed more than 200 million student papers. Last year, it reported evidence that some 11 in every 100 papers it reviewed had used AI for at least a fifth of their text. Three in every 100 papers used AI for four-fifths of their content.
“That’s absolutely no surprise,” Jun says. Some forms of generative AI are powerful, game-changing technologies. “Using AI can be good for education, obviously,” he says, “But a lot of kids don’t use it properly.”
Since the release of some AI software, teachers increasingly have had to make hard calls. They must decide whether a student wrote an essay, or just asked a machine to write it. Wrongfully flagging some student’s work as cheating would decrease the student’s trust in their teacher.
Jun’s new program hopes to limit that.
8. What does Jun’s new software focuses on?
A. Text length. B. Content logic.
C. Word count. D. Writing style.
9. What does the underlined word “erode” in paragraph 3 probably mean?
A. Build. B. Strengthen.
C. Damage. D. Improve.
10. What does Jun Jang say about students using AI for assignments?
A. It is always harmful.
B. It can be improperly used.
C. It should be banned.
D. It promotes true innovation.
11. What does Jun’s new program aim to do?
A. Increase students’ writing speed.
B. Generate more essays for students.
C. Teach students to use AI properly.
D. Help teachers make right judgments.
D 9. C 10. B 11. D
根据第一段中“But most programs share one crucial weakness, says Jun Jang: no sense of style. His new software hopes to fill that gap.(Jun Jang说,大多数程序都有一个关键的弱点:没有风格感。他的新软件希望填补这一空白)”和第二段中“Jun’s program takes note of a writer’s stylistic characteristics.(Jun的程序会记录作者的风格特征)”可知,Jun的新软件重点关注的是写作风格,而非文本长度、内容逻辑或词数。故选D项。
【9题详解】
词句猜测题。根据第三段中“But relying too much on these tools can erode someone’s creativity. It can also harm their ability to work out problems themselves, Jun says.(Jun说,但是过度依赖这些工具会erode一个人的创造力。它也会损害他们自己解决问题的能力)”可知,划线词erode与后文“harm(损害)”构成并列关系,二者语义相近。由此可推知“erode”意为“损害、破坏”,与C项“Damage”意思相近。故选C项。
【10题详解】
细节理解题。根据第五段中““That’s absolutely no surprise,” Jun says. Some forms of generative AI are powerful, game-changing technologies. “Using AI can be good for education, obviously,” he says, “But a lot of kids don’t use it properly.”(“这完全在意料之中,”Jun表示。某些生成式AI确实是颠覆性的强大技术。“显然,将AI用于教育大有裨益,”他说道,“但许多孩子并未正确使用它。”)”可知,Jun Jang认为学生使用人工智能完成作业存在使用不当的问题。故选B项。
【11题详解】
细节理解题。根据第六段中“They must decide whether a student wrote an essay, or just asked a machine to write it. Wrongfully flagging some student’s work as cheating would decrease the student’s trust in their teacher.(他们必须判断一篇文章是学生写的,还是只是让机器写的。错误地将学生的作业标记为作弊会降低学生对老师的信任)”和第七段“Jun’s new program hopes to limit that.(Jun的新软件希望能限制这种情况)”可知,Jun的新软件旨在帮助教师做出正确的判断,避免错误标记学生作业为作弊。故选D项。
