Have you ever seen a small bottle with beautiful pictures inside it? It’s called an inside-painted snuff bottle (内画鼻烟壶), a traditional Chinese art with a long history.
Snuff is a kind of tobacco (烟草). It first became popular in Europe and then came to China hundreds of years ago. At first, people used simple boxes to keep it. Later, they made special Chinese snuff bottles. Today, people in China don’t use snuff anymore, but they keep the bottles as small artworks. The most amazing part is the painting on the inside.
Inner-bottle painting is quite different from normal painting. First, the artist must paint on the inside surface of the bottle. Second, the artist can only paint through the extremely narrow (窄的) mouth of the bottle. It is often less than 0.5 cm wide, which needs much patience. While working, the artist must hold his breath and focus on all his strength into his wrist (手腕). He must be rather careful, because even a small mistake will make him “fall at the last hurdle”. Even though the artwork is almost finished, he needs to start again and work hard on it.
The paintings usually show Chinese stories, beautiful views, and culture. Over the years, many different painting styles appeared, and each has its own beauty.
A tiny brush and a small bottle can create many wonderful scenes. This art form shows the great spirit of traditional Chinese art. It is a treasure of China and is loved by people all over the world.
24. How wide is the mouth of an inside-painted snuff bottle?
A. More than 1 centimeter. B. Less than 0.5 centimeter.
C. About 2 centimeters. D. Exactly 1 centimeter.
25. What does the English idiom “fall at the last hurdle” mean in paragraph 3?
A. Get close to success but fail. B. Meet difficulties at the beginning.
C. Finish a task easily. D. Give up trying halfway.
26. Which of the following is TRUE about snuff bottles according to the passage?
A. People in China still use snuff bottles to hold snuff today.
B. Artists can paint through the mouth of the bottle easily.
C. Snuff first became popular in China before it went to Europe.
D. The paintings inside the bottles show Chinese stories and culture.
27. Where can you most probably read this passage?
A. In a science report. B. In a sports newspaper.
C. In a culture magazine. D. In a cookbook.

The Wind and The Sun
The Wind and the Sun had different ideas about strength.
“I am surely the stronger one,” said the Wind proudly. “Look! I can pull up trees and make big waves (海浪) in the sea!”
The Sun answered with a warm smile but said nothing.
Just then, they saw a man walking on a road below. The man wore a thick, heavy coat. The Sun had an idea to end their talk.
“Let’s have a friendly game,” the Sun said. “The one who can make that man take off his coat will be the winner.”
The Wind felt confident, agreed at once, and started first.
The Wind got its strength and blew as hard as it could. A strong wind blew around the man, taking leaves and throwing dust.
The man felt cold. He shook, held his coat collar (衣领), and pulled it tight around his neck instead of taking off his coat. He put his head down and kept walking. Seeing this, the Wind got angry and blew harder.
But the man only pulled his coat tighter, hugged himself, and walked on with difficulty. The Wind blew until it had no strength left. So it had to stop.
Now it was the Sun’s turn. The Sun did not hurry. It began to shine softly, sending warm light to the earth. The cold air slowly got warmer.
The Sun kept making it warmer. Soon, the man felt so warm that he loosened (松开) his coat.
Feeling the heat, he walked to the shade of a big tree, sat down, and gladly took off his heavy coat. He folded it and used it as a soft pillow to rest.
The Sun turned to the tired Wind.
“Do you see now, my friend?” it said kindly. “True strength is not loud. It is soft and kind.”
The Wind said nothing. It just nodded quietly and felt ashamed (羞愧的). It finally understood that true strength is not about how hard you push, but how wisely you act.
——adapted from Aesop’s Fables

In March 2026, Zhang Xuefeng, a famous Chinese educator popular online, passed away suddenly at the age of 41 because of sudden cardiac death (SCD心源性猝死). His death shocked the whole country, and pushed more people to take health problems seriously.
SCD is an unexpected death caused by heart problems. For a long time, many people believed it only happened to the old, but now more and more young people lost their lives because of it. Many people think SCD happens without any warning. But doctors say that about half of the patients have some signs many hours or even weeks before. These signs include chest (胸部) pain, trouble breathing, feeling dizzy (头晕目眩的), or being very tired for no clear reason. Mr. Zhang felt uncomfortable after running. That might be a warning.
What might cause SCD? Doctors believe that it is closely connected with unhealthy living habits. If someone often stays up late, works under too much stress, or does very hard exercise when he is tired, he will be in great danger. Also, some people have heart problems and do not know about them until it is too late. Fortunately, we can take simple and useful steps to reduce the risk (风险). The most important thing is to keep a healthy and regular lifestyle. We should sleep 7 to 9 hours every night, take proper exercise at least 3 times a week, and eat food with less oil and salt. Besides, if we have chest pain or heart trouble, we must go to see a doctor at once. Regular health checks are also necessary, even for young middle school students.
Life is precious (宝贵的). Let’s start to develop some good habits today. Say no to staying up late, eat well, and exercise more. A healthy lifestyle is the best way to protect ourselves. Remember “Your heart works for you every second.”
32. According to the passage, which picture might NOT show a cause of SCD?
A. B. C. D.
33. Why does the writer say “Your heart works for you every second.” in the last paragraph?
A. To explain how the heart works.
B. To show that the heart never rests.
C. To encourage people to value their heart health.
D. To ask people to see a doctor if they feel uncomfortable.
34. Li Ming often stays up late. In PE class, he feels dizzy and has chest pain, but he wants to keep running. What should you do according to the passage?
A. Let him rest for a while, then try some easy exercise.
B. Tell him to stop running and go to see a doctor right away.
C. Let him keep running, because exercise is good for health.
D. Tell him not to take it seriously, because young people aren’t at risk.
35. What’s the best title of this passage?
A. The Causes of Sudden Cardiac Death B. Say No to Unhealthy Lifestyles
C. A Brief Introduction of Heart Problems D. Protect Your Heart, Enjoy Your Life

第Ⅱ卷(共60分)
VI.任务型阅读。(65-66小题,每小题2分;67-68小题,每小题3分;共10分)
阅读下文并回答问题。
After school on Friday, 13-year-old Xiaoling ran to her mom with tears in her eyes. “Mom, my classmates said I’m fat and ugly. I feel so sad.” Mom gave her a warm hug and said softly, “Honey, that’s just their opinion, not a fact. They may think so, but that doesn’t mean you are really fat or ugly. In my eyes, you are a beautiful girl! Different people have different opinions.”
Nowadays, quite a few people face such similar problems. They always get hurt by what others say. So knowing the difference between facts and opinions will help them a lot.
A fact is something that is true. It has nothing to do with personal feelings. For example, “There are 12 months in a year.” This is a fact. We can check it on a calendar, and everyone agrees on it. Another fact is “The Great Wall is in China.” We can easily find photos and maps to prove (证明) its truth.
However, an opinion is a personal feeling or idea. Sometimes, it may not be true. Words like “You are too fat and ugly” are just opinions. Some people think round faces are cute, others prefer long faces. Similarly, “Chongqing hotpot is the most delicious food.” is also an opinion. Your friend from Shanghai may not agree with it.
We may face different opinions every day. But these are just personal views. Others’ opinions can never decide who you really are. Don’t care too much about them. Just be confident and tell yourself “I know who I am.” Then just move on and focus on the things you love. So next time you feel hurt by someone’s words, ask yourself: “Is this a fact or an opinion?”

Nowadays, as smartphones and social media are becoming more and more popular, fragmented reading (碎片化阅读) has become a common way for teenagers to get information. They usually watch short videos, read brief (简洁的) news or short posts on social media instead of complete contents (完整的内容), like full books or long articles.
Many teenagers like fragmented reading very much because they don’t need to spend too much time on it. Teenagers are busy with schoolwork and after-school classes so they have little time for full books. Fragmented reading allows them to get information in a short time, like on the school bus or between classes. What’s more, it also helps them know more about the world.
However, teenagers can’t focus on long or difficult contents, because they get used to fast and short information and can’t read patiently. They can only get easy information instead of deep knowledge.
To deal with these problems, experts suggest that teenagers shouldn’t only depend on fragmented reading or deep reading. It’s important to make good use of both. For example, teenagers should not only get news and simple information in the spare time by fragmented reading, but they should also make time for deep reading every day. Also, they need to think about information actively, not just accept it.
Fragmented reading is popular among teenagers. They prefer ____61____ to complete contents. Because they think it helps them ____62____. But ____63____. For example, it makes teenagers hard to focus on long or difficult contents and they can’t also get deep knowledge. To solve these problems, experts suggest that ____64____. Students should also think about information actively instead of just accepting it.

【导语】本文是一篇寓言故事,讲述了风和太阳对“力量”的不同理解,通过一场让路人脱下外套的比赛,揭示了真正的力量并非强硬施压,而是温和与智慧。
【28题详解】
根据文章第八段“The man felt cold. He shook, held his coat collar, and pulled it tight around his neck instead of taking off his coat.”可知,当风猛烈吹时,那人感到冷,颤抖着抓住衣领并将其拉紧,而不是脱下外套。
【29题详解】

He shook, held his coat collar, and pulled it tight around his neck instead of taking off his coat.”可知,风先尝试但那人裹紧大衣,对应②;根据第九段“The Wind blew until it had no strength left. So it had to stop.”和第十段“Now it was the Sun’s turn. The Sun did not hurry.”可知,然后风力竭停止,轮到太阳,对应④ ;根据倒数第五段“The Sun kept making it warmer. Soon, the man felt so warm that he loosened his coat.”可知,最后太阳照耀,那人脱掉大衣,对应①。故正确顺序为③-②-④-①。
【30题详解】

D
Protect Your Heart, Enjoy Your Life
【答案】32. C 33. C 34. B 35. D

第三段“Besides, if we have chest pain or heart trouble, we must go to see a doctor at once.”,结合题干“李明跑步时胸痛眩晕”,应该“停止跑步,马上看医生”。
【35题详解】

41. Is “Spring is the nicest season of the year.” a fact according to the passage?

Hello everyone. Today I’d like to share how I deal with pressure with you.

I couldn’t focus on studying. Then I decided to go for a 20-minute run in the park. After that, I felt much better and gained strength to continue reviewing.
