I was standing in line at the grocery store, scrolling through my phone, impatient to get home after a long day of teaching. Ahead of me stood an elderly man in a faded grey coat. His hands trembled slightly as he counted out coins onto the counter. “I’m sorry,” he whispered to the cashier, his voice thin and shaky. “I thought I had enough.” The cashier, a young woman who looked equally tired, sighed. “You’re short by five dollars, sir. Do you want to put something back?” People behind me became impatient. The old man looked at his things: a carton of milk, a loaf of bread, a dozen eggs, and a small box of chocolate cookies. He slowly reached for the cookies. “I... I don’t need these. They were for my grandson, but...” I could see how embarrassed he was. Without thinking twice, I walked forward and paid with my card. “I’ll pay for it,” I said. “Please keep the cookies.” The man froze. He looked at me, his watery blue eyes wide with shock. “No, Miss, I couldn’t...” “It’s fine,” I smiled, hoping to ease his worry. “Consider it a gift for your grandson.” He tried to speak but choked up. He simply nodded, took his bag, and waited for me outside. When I walked out, he grabbed my hand. “You don’t know what this means. My pension (养老金) hasn’t arrived yet, and tomorrow is his birthday. Thank you.” A week later, I was back at the same store. As I walked down the passage, a little boy ran up to me, holding a familiar box of chocolate cookies. Behind him was the old man, smiling happily. “He wanted to share one with you,” the man said. That chocolate cookie tasted better than any fancy dessert I’d ever had. It tasted like connection. It tasted like hope. 24.Why did the author want to get home quickly? A.She was tired after a day of work. B.She was eager to meet her grandson. C.She didn’t like shopping at that store. D.She needed to prepare for tomorrow’s class. 25.What made the old man choose to put the cookies back? A.His own preference. B.Lack of money. C.High price of the cookies. D.The cashier’s suggestion. 26.How did the old man feel when the author paid for the cookies? A.Embarrassed and angry. B.Doubtful and cautious. C.Surprised and grateful. D.Indifferent and calm. 27.What message does the text mainly want to convey? A.Patience is a virtue in public. B.Kindness can create connections. C.Elderly people need more pensions. D.Family bonds are the most valuable. On a foggy winter day in early 2025, India’s first “Garbage Cafe” in Ambikapur feels warm and cozy. Inside, people are sitting on wooden benches, enjoying hot meals. However, these hungry customers do not pay with money. Instead, they hand over plastic waste — old bags, wrappers, or bottles. Launched in 2019, the cafe’s slogan is “More the waste, better the taste.” The idea is simple: help low-income residents earn meals while cleaning the streets. For one kilogram of plastic, a person can get a full meal including rice, vegetables, and bread. On average, the cafe feeds more than 20 people every day. This project has brought great changes to the environment. Since 2019, it has collected almost 23 tonnes (吨) of plastic. In the city, annual plastic waste has fallen from 5.4 tonnes in 2019 to just two tonnes in 2024. After being collected, the plastic is sent to local centers to be recycled. These centers also provide jobs for 480 local women, helping them earn a regular income. The successful idea has spread to other parts of India. Siliguri, in West Bengal, started a similar program in 2019, and Mysuru, in Karnataka, allows residents to trade plastic for breakfast or a full meal. Even abroad, in Cambodia, people can exchange plastic waste for rice. These projects show that local solutions can truly make a difference, proving how small, community-driven efforts can have a meaningful impact on both people and the environment. While the plastic waste collection schemes have had an impact, experts note they aren’t able to address problems such as the overproduction of plastic and non-recyclable plastic. They are like a “quick fix” for the surface of the problem, but the root causes — such as too much plastic production and consumption — still need to be solved. “It’s a good beginning,” says researcher Minal Pathak, “but bigger changes are still needed.” 28.How do customers pay for their meals at the Garbage Cafe? A.With money. B.With social support. C.With plastic waste. D.With personal service. 29.Why does the author mention the specific numbers in Paragraph 3? A.To show the research process. B.To show concern about plastic pollution. C.To explain how to recycle plastic. D.To prove the benefits of the project. 30.What does the author want to tell us by the examples in paragraph 4? A.Global teamwork is successful. B.Programs are similar everywhere. C.Little effort can achieve much. D.The cafes offer people rice as well. 31.What is Minal Pathak’ s attitude toward the project? A.Doubtful and worried. B.Satisfied and hopeful. C.Supportive but concerned. D.Unclear. This year’s Qingming Festival brings some new changes to the traditional celebration. With the rise of technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), different approaches have appeared to make farewells and mourning (哀悼) more personal and heartfelt. At the start of this year, Wang Wei and his students were already busy at Anhui Normal University, portraying (描画) what heroes looked like before their passing. Over the past few years, the team has painted portraits of more than 600 heroes, which have become an important way for their families to express feelings of longing. “We are busiest around the Qingming Festival every year. In the past two years, with the help of AI, we can do our jobs much more easily now,” Wang said. According to Wang, the portraits could previously only be hand-drawn with great care and effort based on the appearance and memories of the heroes’ close relatives, with the team making all drawings and changes by hand. “But now, AI can help us make changes more quickly and conveniently,” he said. Moreover, AI helps create lively images and short videos, providing additional ways to convey emotions and memories of the heroes’ families. In addition to the use of AI, digitalization and social media are also changing the way Chinese people pay respect to their ancestors. In early March. an app called “e-tomb” was issued on the App Store, drawing widespread attention on a Chinese lifestyle social media platform (平台). The app allows relatives and friends to carry out digital memorial services for the deceased (逝者), including setting virtual tombstones and sending flowers. “At first, I developed this app to keep track of my thoughts, hoping to create a small corner to store my memories of my deceased puppy.” said Maggie, adding that she hopes it can help people approach death with less heaviness. According to Maggie, the digital memorial ceremony is more environmentally friendly than traditional methods and solves the limitations of time and space. 32.What can we learn about the painting work of Wang Wei’s team this year? A.They paint mainly based on family photos. B.They have painted over 600 hero portraits. C.They complete the works quickly by using AI. D.They improve their hand-drawing skills with AI. 33.What does the underlined word “convey” in paragraph 4 mean? A.Hide. B.Express. C.Control. D.Exchange. 34.What does Maggie think of the digital memorial way? A.It is eco-friendly and convenient. B.It makes people feel heavier about death. C.It’s short of true feelings for the dead. D.It will get international acceptance soon. 35.Which is the best title for the text? A.Qingming Festival Carries Rich Culture. B.Social Media Brings Heroes Back to Life. C.AI Makes Qingming Festival More Popular. D.Technology Is Changing Qingming Mourning. How Do You Motivate (激励) Seniors to Use Technology? Motivating your elderly loved ones to welcome technology with open arms isn’t easy. Before you give up on them, remember that it’s not about forcing them. 36 Here are some suggestions for how to approach with patience and a focus on the benefits. 37 Instead of just telling them to follow the times, we need to show how tech makes their life better. Will it help them connect with family? Access important information? Take up a hobby? Make their lives easier? It’s important to focus on practical benefits, not cold features. Find their sweet spot. Not every senior wants to be an online influencer. 38 If a grandpa loves reading, teach him to use e-reading apps; if a grandma likes chatting, introduce her to simple social software. This kind of personalized guidance can make them feel that tech is close to their life and easy to master. Celebrate small wins. Did grandma finally send her first text message? Did grandpa figure out how to turn on the air conditioner on his smart home device? Make a big deal out of it! 39 Be patient. Seniors may need repeated explanations. Use simple words and even a little humor. 40 Remember, it might take many tries before they feel confident. Your calm support makes all the difference. With these gentle ways, seniors will gradually open their hearts to technology and enjoy a more convenient life with it. A.Start with the “why”. B.Keep instructions simple. C.It’s never late for the elderly to learn new things. D.They can make the learning process much more relaxed. E.It’s about showing them how tech can improve their lives. F.You’d better offer your tech suggestions based on their interests and needs. G.Every small progress they make deserves sincere praise and recognition from you. 三、完形填空 Kate was at home asleep on February 6 when a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck the city where she lived. Work was the last thing in his mind. When the grasshopper was walking about leisurely in the fields he saw the ants struggling with heavy crumbs (食物碎屑) and laughed. “Why work so hard, little ants? Come, enjoy the warm sun and sing with me! Life is too short to waste on work!” The ant that was heading at the front replied without stopping, “Sorry, but we’re busy storing food for winter. You should do the same instead of wasting time.” The grasshopper sneered. “Winter? That’s so far away! And this is such a wonderful day to play. Why should I worry now?” He shrugged and continued his merry dance, ignoring the ants’ advice. Later, he met some squirrels that were covering something with leaves and grass by their paws. Obviously, they were hiding nuts and preparing for winter. The grasshopper asked them to join his fun. But the squirrels, too, refused his invitation, saying it was time to get ready for the future and they spared no time to join his fun. The grasshopper didn’t care at all what they said and continued singing and dancing as before. As days went on, the cold winter arrived and it was freezing everywhere. There was a thick blanket of snow covering the field and food became scarce (缺乏). The grasshopper couldn’t dig through it to have food. He found himself dying of hunger and coldness. When the bus picked us up from the school gate at 6 in the morning, it was raining heavily, which wasn’t great. However, it hadn’t rained in the forest. That was important because we needed dry places for our first survival activity: building shelters. There were three leaders, each responsible for 10 students. After we were divided into three groups, we started collecting broken tree branches and leaves to build our shelters. Then we ate a light breakfast we had prepared at home. After breakfast, we learned how to build a fire safely. For lunch, we had hot dogs and potatoes cooked over the fire. After lunch, we put out the fire and got ready to look for food in the forest. Our leaders showed us which foods were safe. We returned late in the afternoon. Each group made their own campfire and learned to cook soup for supper over the fire with the things we had collected. Pride kept him from working, and yet pride would not fill his empty stomach. With the last bit of strength, he dragged himself toward the ants’ nest again, not to beg, but to apologize. To the grasshopper’s relief, he was allowed in the ants’ nest. The kind ants took pity on him. They offered him a small corner for rest and a little bit of food to eat. The grasshopper was extremely grateful and apologized for his previous behavior. He promised that he would work hard and not be lazy. The ants forgave him and taught him how to store food. From then on, the grasshopper worked hard every summer day and prepared for winter, and his beautiful songs were still heard in the fields. When the bus picked us up from the school gate at six in the morning, IT was raining heavily, which wasn't great. However, IT hadn't rained in the forest. That was important because we needed dry places for our first survival activity, building shelters. There were three leaders, each responsible for ten students. Each group made their own camp fire and learned to cook soup for supper over the fire with the things we had collected. IT was delicious. We all enjoy the trip. B I was standing in line at the grocery store, scrolling through my phone, impatient to get home after a long day of teaching. A. She was tired after a day of work. B. She was eager to meet her grandson. C. She didn’t like shopping at that store. D. She needed to prepare for tomorrow’s class. 25.What made the old man choose to put the cookies back? A. His own preference. B. Lack of money. C. High price of the cookies. D. The cashier’s suggestion. 26. How did the old man feel when the author paid for the cookies? A. Embarrassed and angry. B. Doubtful and cautious. C. Surprised and grateful. D. Indifferent and calm. 27.What message does the text mainly want to convey? A. Patience is a virtue in public. B. Kindness can create connections. C. Elderly people need more pensions. D. Family bonds are the most valuable. C On a foggy winter day in early 2025, India’s first “Garbage Cafe” in Ambikapur feels warm and cozy. Inside, people are sitting on wooden benches, enjoying hot meals. However, these hungry customers do not pay with money. Instead, they hand over plastic waste—old bags, wrappers, or bottles. “It’s a good beginning,” says researcher Minal Pathak, “but bigger changes are still needed.” 28. How do customers pay for their meals at the Garbage Cafe? A. With money. B. With social support. C. With plastic waste. D. With personal service. 29. Why does the author mention the specific numbers in Paragraph 3? A. To show the research process. B. To show concern about plastic pollution. C. To explain how to recycle plastic. D. To prove the benefits of the project. 30. What does the author want to tell us by the examples in paragraph 4? A. Global teamwork is successful. B. Programs are similar everywhere. C. Little effort can achieve much. D. The cafes offer people rice as well. 31. What is Minal Pathak’ s attitude toward the project? A. Doubtful and worried. B. Satisfied and hopeful. C. Supportive but concerned. D. Unclear. D This year’s Qingming Festival brings some new changes to the traditional celebration. With the rise of technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), different approaches have appeared to make farewells and mourning (哀悼) more personal and heartfelt. At the start of this year, Wang Wei and his students were already busy at Anhui Normal University, portraying what heroes looked like before their passing. An app called “e-tomb” was issued on the App Store, drawing widespread attention on a Chinese lifestyle social media platform . 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 How Do You Motivate (激励) Seniors to Use Technology? Kate was at home asleep on February 6 when a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck the city where she lived. Work was the last thing in his mind. When the grasshopper was walking about leisurely in the fields he saw the ants struggling with heavy crumbs (食物碎屑) and laughed. “Why work so hard, little ants? Come, enjoy the warm sun and sing with me! Life is too short to waste on work!” The ant that was heading at the front replied without stopping, “Sorry, but we’re busy storing(储存) food for winter. You should do the same instead of wasting time.” The grasshopper laughed: “Winter? There was a thick blanket of snow covering the field and food was hard to find. The grasshopper couldn’t dig through it to have food. He found himself dying of hunger and coldness. He had no choice but to go to the ants and squirrels to beg for food. To his disappointment, they had only enough for themselves and couldn’t spare any. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Paragraph 1: As the grasshopper shook in the snow, regret washed over him.____________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: To the grasshopper’s relief, he was allowed in the ants’ nest.______________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________ 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $北方民族大学附属中学2025-2026学年度(下)高一期中试卷 英语答题卡 姓名: 学校: 准考证号 班级: 正确填涂:■ 0 0 0 0 0 0 123 7 7 1 错误填涂 2 2 23 123 123 品阁罗 45 4 4 4 4 5 5 45 6 6 6 6 6 6 缺考☐ 78 78 9 789 789 9 9 违纪☐ 填涂要求 填涂时用2B铅笔将选中项涂满涂黑,黑度以盖过框内字母为准。 1 a b c d 6 a b c d 11 a b c d 16 a b c d 2 a b cd 7 a b cd 12 a b c d 17 a bcd 3 ab cd 8 a b c d 13 a b c d 18 a b c d 4 ab c d 9 a b c d 14 a b c d 19 a b c d 5 a b cd 10 a b cd 15 a b c d 20 a b c d 21 a b c d 26 a b c d 31 a b c d 36 a b c d e f g 22 a b c d 27 a b c d 32 a b c d 37 a b c d e f g 23 a b c d 28 a b c d 33 a b c d 38 a b c d e f g 24 a b c d 29 a b c d 34 a b c d 39 a b c d e f g 25 a b c d 30 a b c d 35 a b c d 40 a b c d e f g 41 a b cd 46 a b c d 51 a b c d 42 a b c d 47 a b c d 52 a b c d 43 a b c d 48 a b c d 53 a b c d 44 a b c d 49 a b c d 54 a b c d 45 a b c d 50 a b c d 55 a b c d Paragraph 1: As the grasshopper shook in the snow, regret washed over him._ Paragraph 2: To the grasshopper's relief,he was allowed in the ants'nest.
