Grandma Kay was in the kitchen. She had just taken apple pies out of the oven.
Carrie, a ten-year-old girl, and her mom came in. Carrie said, “Wow, those smell good, Grandma! May I have one, please?”
Carrie and her mom shared a pie. Some crumbs (食物碎屑) fell on the floor. As Carrie swept them up, she said, “If we had a little cat, it would eat the crumbs. ▲ ”
“Well! Raising a cat means a lot of work! I have to say that there’s nothing cuter than a cat, though,” said Grandma Kay.
“I love cat stories. I guess I just love cats. It’s my dream to keep a cat at home. Can we get one, please?” Carrie looked hopefully at her mother and said.
Carrie’s mother smiled and didn’t say anything.
The girl continued, “Mom, tell me about the cat you used to have. How did you get it?”
“We went to the animal shelter (收容所) in our town. While we were sitting and waiting, a little white cat picked us out, not the other way round. She crawled up the chair and then lay on my leg, looking at me with her shining eyes. She won our hearts right away,” said Carrie’s mother, laughing.
“We can agree that we all like cats, right?” said Carrie.
“Yes!” Carrie’s mother and grandma said.
“Would we all like to have a cat?” Carrie asked.
“Yes,” replied Mom.
“No. A little cat needs more attention than I could give it,” said Grandma.
“I know why Grandma doesn’t want a cat: she knows she’ll end up taking care of it when I’m at school or you’re at work,” Carrie said to her mother.
Then Carrie turned to Grandma. “I’ll feed the cat, clean up the room, and play with it after school and at weekends. I’ll be responsible for the cat.”
“I believe that you will help. Now let’s look forward to our new life with a cat,” Grandma nodded and smiled.
Carrie jumped excitedly. She hugged Grandma and her mother.

文章第三段Carrie说“If we had a little cat, it would eat the crumbs.”,随后第四段Grandma回应养猫很辛苦但猫很可爱,结合Carrie后续多次表达想养猫的愿望,此处应填入表达“养一只小猫不是很好吗?”
文章第八段描述小猫“crawled up the chair and then lay on my leg”,小猫从地上到椅子上再到腿上,动作是爬行,因此“crawled”意为“用腿向前移动”。
文章第十三段Grandma说“A little cat needs more attention than I could give it”,以及第十二段Carrie分析“she knows she’ll end up taking care of it”,说明Grandma起初拒绝是因为她知道最终要由自己照顾猫。
文章最后Grandma说“let’s look forward to our new life with a cat”,Carrie激动拥抱,说明家人同意养猫,因此接下来很可能描写家里有了一只宠物猫。

C
Organisms (有机体) are living things and they are made of many different parts. A person is an organism that has a heart, a brain, a mouth, a nose, ears, eyes, and other body parts. Animals and plants are organisms too. Let’s get to know more about their body parts.
Some animals have special body parts. These body parts have special jobs that help the animals stay alive. Most birds have wings that help them fly. Some insects have antennae (触角) to help them sense the world around them. Fish have fins to help them swim.
Plants have body parts, too. Each part has its own job to do. Most plant roots grow underground. Roots are very strong. They help plants get water from the soil and they hold the plants in the ground. Stems carry the water to the rest of the plant. They also keep the plant standing straight. Leaves are important, too. Plants make food inside leaves.
Not all plants have the same body parts. Some plants have flowers and fruit, but there are some plants which don’t produce flowers or fruit. Pine trees (松树) are one kind of plant which grows cones. Their cones are hard and dry parts that act like the fruits of pine trees.
Body parts come in different sizes. Some body parts are big. However, sometimes an organism’s body parts are so small that you should use a microscope (显微镜) to see them clearly. For example, we can use a microscope to watch and study parts of a fly’s head.
31. What does Paragraph 2 mainly talk about?
A. Some animals’ body parts. B. Some plants’ body parts.
C. Different sizes of body parts. D. Tools to study small body parts.
32. What does the underlined word “They” refer to?
A. The plants. B. The roots. C. The stems. D. The leaves.

A. A person is an organism that has many different body parts.
B. There are some plants which don’t produce flowers or fruit.
C. Some animals have special body parts which help them stay alive.
D. You should use a microscope to see the very small body parts clearly.
34. What’s the writer’s purpose in writing the text?
A. To call on people to protect animals and plants.
B. To explain some facts about organisms’ body parts.
C. To teach people how to study different body parts.
D. To show the importance of learning about organisms.
35. What is the structure of the text? (①= Paragraph ①, ②= Paragraph ②,…)
A. B. C. D.
31. A 32. C 33. D 34. B 35. A
文章第三段指出“Stems carry the water to the rest of the plant. They also keep the plant standing straight.”,句中的“They”指代前一句的主语“Stems”。
文章最后一段指出“sometimes an organism’s body parts are so small that you should use a microscope to see them clearly.”,其中“should (应该)”一词表明这是作者的建议/观点,而非客观事实。

D
Have you ever been in a dream and known you were dreaming? If yes, then you’ve had a lucid dream (清醒梦). ____36____ However, many others never do, or at least can’t remember having one.
People have different opinions on lucid dreams. Some consider them unlucky, while others are willing to have them. ____37____ Some of them suggest that lucid dreaming has both good points and risks.
For some, lucid dreaming can be scary. You might notice“sleep paralysis” more often. This is when your body can’t move during sleep, and it is a natural way to keep you from hurting yourself while you are dreaming. Others might feel trapped (受困的) in a dream. ____38____ Finally, it’s harder for some people to tell what is real and what is not.
On the bright side, lucid dreaming can help people have fewer bad dreams, and make nightmares (噩梦) less scary. In some cases, this is because lucid dreamers can control and change the direction of a nightmare. ____39____
Besides, lucid dreams may provide new ideas or ways to solve problems. For example, a musician might remember a song from a dream. ____40____
Sometimes lucid dreams can be fun. If you can control a dream, the sleeping world becomes your playground where anything is possible.
A. There are some studies about lucid dreams.
B. Some people experience lucid dreams often.
C. They can only watch the dream but can’t change it.
D. A student might come up with a way of solving a math problem.
E. Others feel better just because they know the bad dream isn’t real.
B 37. A 38. C 39. E 40. D
B“Some people experience lucid dreams often.”(有些人经常经历清醒梦)符合逻辑,与后文“However”构成转折关系。
A“There are some studies about lucid dreams.”(有一些关于清醒梦的研究)起到承上启下的作用,引出后文的研究发现。
C“They can only watch the dream but can’t change it.”(他们只能看着梦境,但无法改变它)符合逻辑,与后文“难以分辨真实”形成递进。
E“Others feel better just because they know the bad dream isn’t real.”(另一些人仅仅因为知道噩梦不是真的就感觉好多了)与上文并列,进一步解释好处。
D“A student might come up with a way of solving a math problem.”(一个学生可能想出一个解数学题的方法)与上文并列,使例证更丰富。

前文Robert提到“the camp was in the middle of the forest”,爸爸顺着这个语境回应,说明营地在森林里是正常的,因此用“forest”。
后文提到他“still wasn’t sure whether he would like the camp life”,说明他对爸爸的话并不完全相信,因此用“doubted”。
turn down拒绝、make up编造、put off推迟,均与“what to do”搭配不通顺。
“have a chance to do sth.”
后文提到“He laughed so hard that Robert turned his head to look at him”,说明爸爸笑得很大声,因此用“loudly”。
后文提到“at least 40 boys in Robert’s group”,说明这里指的是他的小组,因此用“group”。
前文提到“The coach was waiting at the door”,Robert作为新来的营员,会跟着教练前往营地,因此用“followed”。
前文提到“Then his father had to leave”,说明孩子入营后家长必须离开,因此用“after”。unless除非、before在……

前文提到“a boy next to Robert smiled at him”,微笑的动作能体现出Nick很友好,因此用“friendly”。
