Before we go on board, I’d like to give you a little background information. Seattle has one of the largest numbers of houseboats in the U.S. — about 500 of them in fact. That’s quite a high number and shows how popular houseboat living is here. We’re at the southern end of Lake Union right now. As you have probably seen already, this is a lively area with restaurants and shops and cafes. During our one-hour tour you’ll see a number of houseboats. People can pay millions of dollars for the biggest of these. Some of them are quite amazing and have two or three floors. My own is one of the smallest boats, but I still have plenty of room, as you’ll see when I show you around. My living area includes one bedroom with a bathroom, a kitchen and a living room. I also have electricity, running water and network, so I really do have everything I need. You may be interested to know that I’m writing a book on the history of houseboats in the city, and this should be on sale from early July. Well, thank you for listening so far. Now let’s move into the boat and start the tour.

第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。

Let’s take a look at some of the world’s unspoilt places that are beautiful because they have been left untouched, and remember the importance of keeping them pristine (原貌的) .
Nunavut,Canada
Auyuittuq National Park, which means “the land that never melts (融化)”, is just one of the shocking wonders in Nunavut. There are many icefalls, mountains, and deep valleys (山谷) while hikers cross the 60m Akshayuk Pass in the summer. And that’s just one attraction. From narrow seas to mountains, there are three areas in Nunavut, all with beautiful natural land feature. Visitors can hunt, fish, mountain hike, and walk across ice flows.
Namib Desert, Namibia
A coastal desert in the southern area of Africa, it is known for its burnt orange-golden sands. The Namib has been dry for at least 55 million years and possibly as many as 80 million. The name means “vast space”, and it spreads more than 1200 miles. The hill of sands can reach up to 980 feet high and 20 miles long. Amazingly, the temperatures striking against cold currents create a fog belt that often covers the desert.
Antarctica
Perhaps the last unspoilt place, Antarctica is an empty landscape. No trees grow here, and one must travel with a tourism company in order to visit. Admire icebergs, sea lions, whales, and listen to the sound of absolutely nothing.
Fiordland, New Zealand
One of the most shocking areas of New Zealand, Fiordland can be seen on foot,by air,or by water. The Milford Track is one of the most famous walks, with the tallest waterfall in the country and impressive valley views. Lake Monowai is a glassy, mirrorlike body of water surrounded by mountains and best explored by boating on a still day.
21. What is Namib Desert famous for?
A. Ice flows. B. Burnt sands. C. High hills. D. Valley views.
22. Which word can best describe all the four places?
A. Unknown. B. Unreachable. C. Unmelted. D. Undamaged.

Every year around August, millions of teens take their parents to stores to buy new clothes for the start of the school year. Not every parent can afford this, and some teens are forced to go to school in the same clothes they wore last year. The obvious differences in clothes cause differences among students. There is a simple solution to this problem; school uniforms (校服).
I know from personal experience and surveys that wearing uniforms creates a sense of equality among peers (同龄人).
From sixth grade until I graduated from senior high school, I attended a school that required students to wear uniforms. The uniform was very simple: dark brown shoes, green-brown pants, and a white shirt. The uniform left little room for any kind of self-expression, especially through clothes.
However, I learned how to stand out by expressing myself through my personality, art, and sports. I did not know I could draw until the sixth grade. I also would never have learned of my musical abilities if it hadn’t been for my desire to find ways to express myself. Uniforms taught me that I was myself, except for what I wore.
Uniforms also contribute to a much safer learning environment. I remember a particular event that happened in my junior high school. A man ran away from prison and wanted to hide in the gym of our school. Luckily, cameras all over the school quickly found the stranger before any danger could ever happen as he was out of place. School officials kept the man locked inside our gym until the police came to take him back to prison.
Uniforms help provide a better educational experience for all students no matter what race, culture, or economic class (经济阶层). In closing, wearing uniforms is good for both schools and students.
24. How does the author introduce the topic?
A. By explaining a basic rule. B. By challenging others’ views.
C. By sharing his parents’ experience. D. By describing a common problem.
25. Which of the following could the author agree with?
A. Uniforms should be more modern.
B. Uniforms can help shape better students.
C. Uniforms are popular with students.
D. Uniforms are bad for self-development.
26. What do the underlined words “out of place” in Paragraph 5 probably mean?
A. Dressing differently. B. Standing straight.
C. Running fast. D. Breathing heavily.
27. What is the author’s purpose in writing the text?
A. To record his high school life.
B. To introduce high school uniforms.
C. To ask students to like what they wear.
D. To show his supportive view towards uniforms.
【答案】24. D 25. B 26. A 27. D

【24题详解】
推理判断题。根据第一段“Every year around August, millions of teens take their parents to stores to buy new clothes for the start of the school year. Not every parent can afford this, and some teens are forced to go to school in the same clothes they wore last year. The obvious differences in clothes cause differences among students. There is a simple solution to this problem; school uniforms (校服).(每年八月前后,数百万青少年会拉着父母去商店,为开学购置新衣服。并非所有父母都能负担这笔开支,有些青少年只能穿着去年的旧衣服上学。衣着上的明显差异会让学生之间产生隔阂。而这个问题有一个简单的解决办法 —— 校服。)”可知,作者通过描述“开学季学生着装差异引发隔阂”这一普遍问题,引出“校服”这一主题。故选D项。
【25题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段“Uniforms taught me that I was myself, except for what I wore. (校服让我明白,除了穿着,我就是我自己。)”和第五段“Uniforms also contribute to a much safer learning environment. (校服还有助于营造更安全的学习环境。)”可知,作者认为校服能让学生关注自身内在,还能保障安全,即校服有助于培养更好的学生。故选B项。

After bikes and umbrellas are made sharable across China, some companies started eyeing the fitness market, so shared gym rooms have hit the streets in Beijing.
Unlike common gyms that provide large, open spaces for many members to share at the same time, the newly built shared gym rooms are small, separate rooms for a person to use, often set up near living communities.
Every four-square-metre room provides a treadmill (跑步机), an air cleaner, a mirror, a television and an air conditioner, and users can let down the curtains (窗帘) for privacy. When exercising, users can listen to music, watch movies and check emails by connecting to the Internet by the screen fixed on the treadmill. But there’s no shower.
Similar to using a shared bike, users can locate a shared gym room by a smartphone app, book a room in advance and then need to scan a QR code (二维码) for use. A refundable deposit (可退还的押金) of 99 yuan is required, and users are charged 1 yuan every 5 minutes.
The shared gym rooms are created by Misspao, a Beijing-based technology company founded in July. Within several months since it was founded, the company has already raised over 100 million yuan. However, the idea of the shared fitness experience is not totally new. Last December, the company VRUN set up shared treadmills in office and apartment buildings.
The sharing economy is still becoming popular in China. According to Yicai Global, confident people are pouring millions into sharing start-ups. In March, the State Information Centre published a report which says that the total value of China’s sharing economy will see a yearly growth of 40% in the coming years, and it is expected to make a great contribution to the country’s GDP.
28. What makes the shared gym room different from the common one?
A. Sharing open spaces. B. Providing free training courses.
C. Holding one person at a time. D. Having some advanced equipment.
29. What do people need to do to use the shared gym room?
A. Pay 100 yuan first. B. Book a room ahead of time.
C. Have a shower before exercise. D. Let down curtains for privacy.
30. What is the author’s attitude towards China’s sharing economy?
A. Doubtful. B. Unclear. C. Worried. D. Positive.
31. What is the author’s purpose in writing the text?
A. To introduce shared gym rooms. B. To praise a technology company.
C. To support the idea of sharing gym rooms. D. To tell the future of shared gym rooms.
【答案】28. C 29. B 30. D 31. A

【29题详解】
细节理解题。根据第四段“Similar to using a shared bike, users can locate a shared gym room by a smartphone app, book a room in advance and then need to scan a QR code (二维码) for use.(与使用共享自行车类似,用户可以通过智能手机应用程序找到共享健身房的位置,提前预订房间,然后需要扫描二维码才能使用)”可知,人们需要提前预订房间才能使用共享健身房。

D
Among the around 40 million adults in the U.S. who have hearing loss, most don’t use hearing aids. This means they may be missing out on more than just good hearing. Age-related hearing loss — if not dealt with — can take its toll when it comes to physical and mental health, speeding up memory loss, for example.
Dr. Janet Choi, a doctor with Keck Medicine of USC, wanted to evaluate (评估) whether getting hearing back with hearing aids may increase the chances of living longer.
Choi and her team tracked the health condition of nearly 1,900 adults who had been shown to have hearing loss during screenings. The people who were surveyed completed questionnaires (问卷调查) about their use of hearing aids. “The group of patients who were using hearing aids regularly (定期地) had a 24 percent lower risk of mortality (死亡率) compared to the group who never use hearing aids,” Choi says. “We were surprised! We have found that not dealing with hearing loss can hurt our health. But we did not expect such a big difference in death risk.”
But the findings do not prove that hearing aids lead to longer life directly. It could be true that people who often use hearing aids are more likely to avoid loneliness and stay more active, which could explain why they live longer.
However, Choi says it’s surprising how few people with hearing loss wear hearing aids regularly — just 12 percent, according to her study. She adds another surprising finding is that the people in the study, who had hearing aids but didn’t use them regularly, were as likely to die early as those who never used them. So, if you have hearing aids sitting in the back of a drawer, not being used, Choi says, try them again.
32. What does the underlined part “take its toll” in paragraph 1 mean?
A. Cause great damage. B. Make little progress.
C. Solve the difficult problem. D. Play an active role.
33. Why did Choi and her team do the research about using hearing aids?
A. To prove that using hearing aids can improve memory.
B. To collect data for a research organization.
C. To find out the relationship between using hearing aids and a longer life.
D. To find out ways to get out of loneliness.
34. What did Choi find surprising about the people with hearing loss?
A. Many are young people. B. Many suffer from loneliness.
C. Many seldom use hearing aids. D. Many have memory problems.
35. What can we infer from the passage?
A. People who don’t use hearing aids are healthier.
B. Hearing aids are the only reason why people live longer.
C. People who use hearing aids are more likely to be alone.
D. Using hearing aids might have positive effects on people’s health.
【答案】32. A 33. C 34. C 35. D
【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要讲的是一项关于听力损失与助听器使用对寿命影响的研究。
【32题详解】
词句猜测题。根据第一段“Age-related hearing loss— if not dealt with(与年龄相关的听力损失——如果不加以处理的话)”和“when it comes to physical and mental health, speeding up memory loss, for example(当涉及到身体和心理健康时,例如加速记忆丧失)”可知,划线词所在的句子表示“与年龄相关的听力损失——如果不加以处理——会对身体和精神健康造成损害,例如,加速记忆力丧失”,由此推知take its toll的意思是“造成巨大损害”,和A选项“Cause great damage(造成巨大损害)”意思相近。故选A。
【33题详解】
细节理解题。根据第二段“Dr. Janet Choi, a doctor with Keck Medicine of USC, wanted to evaluate (评估) whether getting hearing back with hearing aids may increase the chances of living longer.(南加州大学凯克医学院的医生Janet Choi博士想要评估佩戴助听器恢复听力是否会增加长寿的几率)”可知,Choi和她的团队要做关于使用助听器的研究是为了了解使用助听器与长寿的关系。故选C。
【34题详解】
细节理解题。根据最后一段“However, Choi says it’s surprising how few people with hearing loss wear hearing aids regularly—just 12 percent, according to her study.(然而,Choi说,根据她的研究,听力损失的人中只有很少一部分人定期佩戴助听器,这个比例仅有12%,这令人感到惊讶)”可知,Choi发现的令人惊讶的事情是许多有听力问题的人很少使用助听器。故选C。
【35题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段“The group of patients who were using hearing aids regularly (定期地) had a 24 percent lower risk of mortality (死亡率) compared to the group who never use hearing aids(与从不使用助听器的群体相比,定期使用助听器的患者群体死亡率降低了24%)”和倒数第二段“It could be true that people who often use hearing aids are more likely to avoid loneliness and stay more active, which could explain why they live longer.(的确,经常使用助听器的人更有可能避免孤独,也更活跃,这可以解释为什么他们更长寿)”可知,从文章中我们可以推断出使用助听器可能对人们的健康有积极的影响。故选D。

Five tips for safe running
We all know that exercise is good for our health. But some kinds of exercise may be better than others. Running, for example, may help to protect against heart disease and other health problems. Running is a good exercise, but it can be hard on the body. ___36___
Take it easy. Do not run too much, too soon or too fast. Most people get running injuries when they push themselves too bad. The body needs time to get used to increase in distance or speed. ___37___
Listen to your body. Most running injuries do not come unexpectedly. ___38___ they may include body aches, sore muscles and pain that do not go away.
___39___ There is no single best shoe for every runner. You should find the shoe that offers the best fit and support for your feet. More importantly, you should replace your shoes every 500 to 800 kilometers.
Take good notes. Take time after each run to write down what you did and how you felt. Look for patterns, things that happen over again. These notes will help you find the best exercise for you.
Cross train (交叉训练). As we said earlier, running is hard on your body. So physical fitness experts suggest some form of cross training to improve muscle balance and to help you stay injury free. They say swimming, yoga, and riding a bicycle are good exercises to combine with running. ____40____.
A. Get good running shoes.
B. Usually, there are warning signs (征兆).
C. Running may also help you live longer.
D. These exercises are easier on the body.
E. Muscles and joints (关节) need time to recover(恢复).
F. As advertisements for the running shoe Nike say, “just do it.”

A
Let’s take a look at some of the world’s unspoilt places that are beautiful because they have been left untouched, and remember the importance of keeping them pristine (原貌的) .
Antarctica

A. Doubtful. B. Unclear. C. Worried. D. Positive.
31. What is the author’s purpose in writing the text?
A. To introduce shared gym rooms. B. To praise a technology company.
C. To support the idea of sharing gym rooms. D. To tell the future of shared gym rooms.
