Caroline liked the idea. She hoped the new look would make her appear like a star in a movie. However, when Aunt Kiki finished cutting her hair and held out a mirror, Caroline covered her face.
“What’s wrong?” Aunt Kiki asked.
“It’s too short!” Caroline said, her voice shaking.
“Caroline, it will be easy to take care of,” she said softly. “Now we can see more of your beautiful face.”
But Caroline’s grandfather’s look of surprise even brought tears to her eyes.
A few days later, the family went to the seaside. Caroline jumped into the sea. Soon she noticed something amazing. Without her long hair, she felt light and free moving in the water. Nothing slowed her down.

A skilled weaver (织工) named Wang Pengwei in Dingzhou, Hebei, has finished a five-year project. She and her team have recreated a famous Chinese painting, Along the River During the Qingming Festival, using a traditional craft called kesi.
This kesi copy is 8.2 meters long. The video of this artwork received over 300 million views online after it was shown on TV. For Wang, this artwork was a dream come true. “I’ve always dreamed of creating one piece that can truly show the highest level of this art,” she says.
Kesi is different from normal weaving. Each color area is woven separately. To weave the clothing of a boatman, the team used different colors of silk thread (丝线). The weavers worked very hard every day, often finishing only a very small part. Over five years, the project took a large amount of time. “We wanted to give up many times. Our eyes were almost going blind from the close work,” Wang Pengwei says. “However, when the work was finally finished, our team cheered. That sense of achievement is something I will never forget.”
Now, Wang Pengwei’s son, Wang Bo, is working to keep kesi alive. He parted with his own business to learn the skill. “When you’re weaving, your mind empties. You only think about how to successfully weave the next thread,” Wang Bo says. He has a clear plan for the future: first, learn the skill well and pass it on; then, make daily products so that kesi can be used in homes, not just shown in museums.
62. What does the underlined sentence mean in Paragraph 2?
A. The TV show was very successful.

C. How much time was spent on the kesi project?
D. What difficulties did the team face while weaving?
64. What does Wang Bo think of the future of kesi?
A. Hopeful. B. Worrying. C. Doubtful. D. Interesting.
65. In which part of a newspaper can we read the text?
A. Travel. B. Health. C. Culture. D. Science.

Animals need to send and receive messages with each other like humans. This communication may be to tell others where food is or warn them of danger. Animals communicate to attract mates (配偶) or compete. They also use forms of communication to show feelings such as happiness, sadness, or anger.
But how do animals communicate? In movies, animals may talk in language that is clear to humans. But this is not how animals in nature communicate. In fact, animals use many different ways to communicate.
The most common way that animals communicate is through sound. For example, some monkeys give out loud alarm calls. If the monkey spots a snake, it will give out an alarm call for all the other monkeys to climb into the trees. Another example is the dolphin. Every dolphin has a different sound so others can know who it is. This is similar to calling someone by his or her name.
A second way animals communicate is through touch. For example, giraffes will wrap (缠绕) their necks together if they like each other. Horses touch their noses together as a sign that they are comfortable with another horse. Some monkeys will touch their hands together to say “Hello.”
Another type of animal communication is through nonverbal signals For example, those with a pet dog will know how a dog happily moves its tail. A cat that is scared or feels that it is in danger will stand with its back high. Bees also use a kind of nonverbal communication. They can dance in certain forms to tell others where and how far food is.
66. What are the main purposes of animal communication?
①To copy human language. ②To share the location of food.
③To compete with other animals. ④To express feelings.
A. ①②③ B. ①③④ C. ②③④ D. ①②④
67. Which word is close to the underlined word “spots”?
A. Sees. B. Follows. C. Hides. D. Protects.
68. Which of the following is an opinion (观点) according to the text?
A. Dogs express happiness by moving their tails.
B. Giraffes wrap their necks together if they like each other.
C. Horses often touch their noses as a sign of comfort.
D. The dance of bees is a smart form of communication.
69. What’s the structure (结构) of the text? (① = Paragraph 1, …)
A. B. C. D.
70. Which can be a proper title for the text?
A. Why Animals Need to Communicate
B. How Animals Communicate with Each Other
C. When Animals Use Body Language
D. What Makes Animal Communication Special
Scientists have discovered that many plastic bottles have microplastics (微塑料) and harmful chemicals. This is not new news, but it causes a serious health problem. The bottles we drink water from may not always be safe.
Single-use bottles are plastic bottles that we buy from shops with water or cold drinks inside. They are usually made of a material called PET. These bottles are cheap and easy to carry, but they are designed for single use. If we reuse them or leave them in the sun, the plastic can slowly break down.
Microplastics can be so small that we cannot see them with our eyes. They can come from the bottle itself, the cap, or even the production process. Also, chemicals used to make the bottles can get into the water, especially when they are left in hot places or stored for a long time.
Scientists are still studying the influence of microplastics on human health. Early studies show that they may even lead to cancer. For children, this can be even more harmful as the chemicals can influence their growth hormones (激素).
We can stay safe by making better choices. The best choice is to use reusable bottles made of steel (钢) or glass, which can last long and do not give out harmful chemicals. If you use a plastic bottle, avoid leaving it in the sun and do not reuse it for many days. Schools and families can also help set up water refill stations. By doing this, they help reduce the need to buy new ones.
71. What are single-use plastic bottles usually made of?
________________
72. Where can the microplastics from plastic bottles come from?
________________
73. Why are children more easily harmed by chemicals from plastic bottles?

“Ow,” Caroline cried.
“I’m sorry,” her mother said. She brushed Caroline’s long hair as softly as she could, but the brush got stuck (卡住的) again. Her mom said, “Your aunt Kiki will help you cut your hair any minute.” Later, Aunt Kiki came and advised Caroline to have short hair. “It will be simple to care for, and you’ll feel cooler,” she said.
That evening, after cleaning up at home, Caroline looked at herself in the mirror. She put a barrette (发夹) in her hair and smiled. She realized a change could be a good thing, often bringing unexpected advantages.
59. Why did Caroline agree to have her hair cut short?
A. Her mother asked her to do it for school.
B. She wanted to make her grandfather happy.
C. She hoped it would make her look like a star.
D. Her aunt said it was the most popular style.
60. How did Caroline’s feelings change in the story?
A. Hopeful→sad→happy.
B. Interested→bored→angry.
C. Tired→glad→unhappy.
D. Pleased→relaxed→satisfied.
61. What advantage of short hair did Caroline discover?
A. It made her more lovely.
B. It showed more of her face.
C. It was easier to match clothes.
D. It made swimming more enjoyable.

She hoped…”,对应hopeful;剪完后看到发型太短,她遮住脸甚至流泪“covered her face…tears to her eyes”,对应sad;最后在海边游泳后她笑了,意识到改变是好事“smiled…realized a change could be a good thing”,对应happy。
根据文章倒数第二段“Without her long hair, she felt light and free moving in the water. Nothing slowed her down.”

B. The kesi artwork caught great attention.

B. Why did the weavers nearly give up the work?
C. How much time was spent on the kesi project?
D. What difficulties did the team face while weaving?
64. What does Wang Bo think of the future of kesi?
A. Hopeful. B. Worrying. C. Doubtful. D. Interesting.
65. In which part of a newspaper can we read the text?
A. Travel. B. Health. C. Culture. D. Science.
B 63. D 64. A 65. C

第四段明确指出王波有清晰的计划:“first, learn the skill well and pass it on; then, make daily products so that kesi can be used in homes”,表明他对缂丝的未来充满希望和规划。

C 67. A 68. D 69. C 70. B
根据第三段中“If the monkey spots a snake, it will give out an alarm call for all the other monkeys to climb into the trees.”
全文主要介绍了动物交流的多种方式,因此最佳标题为“How Animals Communicate with Each Other”。
Scientists have discovered that many plastic bottles have microplastics (微塑料) and harmful chemicals.
