Automation(自动化)is increasingly affecting many fields, causing debates like“Are Robots Coming for Your Job?” While many believe that creativity and artistic taste remain unique to human beings, advances in artificial intelligence(AI,人工智能)challenge this idea.
For example, at Rutgers University's Art and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, AI has been developed to produce beautiful, original paintings. Similarly, Amper Music offers AI-driven music creation services. Users can choose the instruments, speed, and length of the piece, and the software produces an original piece that is also "performed"and "mixed"by AI.
Amper's software is great at creating background music suitable for reality TV shows, online videos, and student films. It focuses on the market for ready-made music. These Al-created art and music are polished and attractive, but they raise important questions: What is the value of art when it can be produced in large quantities without human effort?
Consider the Mona Lisa: its value comes partly from its scarcity — there is only one original. In contrast, Amper can create a new high-quality music piece every time you click, and Elgammal's AI painter can produce thousands of unique artworks rapidly. This situation creates a mixed world where art remains unique yet easily produced. It makes us wonder whether people should pay for such works and what their prices should be.
This issue is real, not imaginary. Spotify recently attracted AI researcher Francois Pachet, who used to work at Sony, to develop tools for human composers(作曲家).However, there have been reports that Spotify's playlists included music from artists who don't actually exist, possibly allowing Spotify to avoid paying royalties (版税).While Spotify says the tracks were created by real people using fake(假的)names, there are still worries about whether AI could be used to produce free music, which could harm human musicians.
As machines and technology start to replace many jobs, even creative fields like art and music are affected. This raises questions about the need for rules or groups to protect artists and whether society will continue to value human-made art more than machine-made creations. Ultimately, we must consider the effects of AI in art and music—who should get recognition when an AI-created piece wins awards like the Grammys?
4. What challenges the idea that creativity and artistic taste are unique to human beings?
A. Robots doing physical tasks. B. AI making progress.
C. Robots learning to debate. D. AI knowing painting.
5. What does the underlined word"scarcity"in paragraph 4 mean?
A. Having high quality. B. Being extremely hard to get.
C. Having natural beauty. D. Being impossible to copy
6. What does Francois Pachet do at Spotify?
A. Creating playlists. B. Producing free music.
C. Paying royalties. D. Creating tools to help musicians.
7. What does the last paragraph mainly talk about?
A. Confidence of humans'artistic ability B. Ways to promote AI-created art.
C. Concerns about using AI in creative fields. D. The need for AI with human feelings.

Can you sing in different voices? Chinese singer Zhou Shen can do this. The 27-year-old has become more popular after appearing on the TV show Singer. On the show, he sang a song in five different voices including the voice of a little girl, a king and a young man. He records in his unusual ways - he has performed in his bedroom twice due to the novel coronavirus outbreak - but also with his singing itself.
Zhou’s road to success was not easy. He loved singing when he was a little boy. However, his voice didn’t change like other boys during puberty (青春期). It still sounded like a girl’s voice. His classmates laughed at him and he dared not sing in public. But his love of music made him stronger. Producer Gao Xiaosong said Zhou has “come out of the cocoon (茧) and become a butterfly”. It has taken Zhou a long time to do so.
While studying in Ukraine, he learned Ukrainian, Russian, Italian and Polish. He can sing Let It Go in nine different languages. He started to sing on TV talent shows and gradually came to accept himself.
At 17, he first sang online without showing his face. Some people fell in love with it. On one of his birthdays, he agreed to show his face. However, when they found out that he was a man, some of them made fun of him. Zhou felt bad about this, but later he got the chance to sing the theme song to the movie Big Fish and Begonia which turned out to be a big success.

When I was young, I loved paper cutting and I was pretty good at it. As I grew up, I became busy and didn’t have much time for it. Later, I stopped doing it.
However, the news I came across online touched my heart and changed my mind. A little girl from Jieyang, Guangdong was practicing lion dance when a professional lion dance performance team (专业舞狮表演队) passed by. As soon as they saw the girl practicing, they started to beat drums and gongs for her and quickly she did a lion dance in return. People around all cheered for her. Her love for the ancient Chinese culture evoked my strong memories of paper cutting.
I remembered the happy times of making paper cuttings with my teacher and friends in the club. When I was ten, I joined the paper cutting club. Every Monday and Friday, I learned to make paper cuttings there. Our teacher, Ms. Li, was very talented. With a pair of scissors and a piece of paper, she could create lively works (作品). That amazed us. And we learned much from her. Together, we created lots of works. They covered many topics, including animals, flowers and things about Chinese history. Every time we held a paper cutting show, our works attracted many visitors. The girl in the news encouraged me to go on with paper cutting. I want to be an inheritor (继承者) of the ancient Chinese culture. Together with other inheritors, I hope to pass down our excellent culture.

A. The writer wasn’t good at paper cutting at a young age.
B. Now the writer practices paper cutting twice a week.

It was the midterm of senior one. Tim, a determined but easily-frustrated student, was facing a big challenge in math. His previous test scores were far from satisfactory, which made him quite worried about the coming mid-term exam. He spent hours every day doing math exercises, but the more he practiced, the more confused he became.
One day, after another disappointing practice test, Tim almost gave up. He sat alone in the empty classroom, staring blankly at the test paper full of red crosses. Just then, his math teacher, Mr. Smith, came in. Noticing Tim’s distress, Mr. Smith sat beside him and said softly, “Tim, I know you’ve been working hard. Everyone has setbacks in learning. The key is not to be defeated by them.” With that, Mr. Smith patiently went through the test paper with Tim, explaining the mistakes one by one and giving him some useful study tips.
Encouraged by Mr. Smith, Tim decided to change his learning method. He started to make a detailed study plan, dividing the math knowledge into small parts and solving problems step by step. He also joined a study group in the class. In the study group, he could discuss difficult questions with his classmates.
As the mid-term exam was approaching, Tim was both nervous and looking forward to it. On the day before the exam, while he was doing the last-minute review, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his head. The headache got worse and worse, making it impossible for him to concentrate.

【答案】 Tim was too anxious about the exam to fall asleep, even though he knew he needed a good rest. His mind blank and heart messy, he was at such a complete loss that he had no clue about what action to take. He buried his face in the quilt, tears blurring his eyes for a long time and finally overflowing almost uncontrollably as waves of frustration swept over him. The harder he strove to compose himself, the more restless and distracted he felt. Just at this critical moment, the louder ring of the phone broke the silence when anxiety had almost overwhelmed him. It turned out to be his math teacher. Mr. Smith encouraged him, “Tim, don’t be stressed. You have started diligently and made remarkable progress these days.” His timely encouragement was as comforting as a ray of sunshine in the dark clouds of his anxiety. Tim took a deep breath, gradually calmed down and finally managed to get some sleep.
The next day, Tim went to the exam room with Mr. Smith’s encouragement. Pregnant with a mix of worry and determination, Tim unfolded the test paper. The instant his eyes landed on the paper, he found the problems manageable and accessible to tackle. For the first time, math seemed less like a foreign language but more like a puzzle waiting to be solved. With Mr. Smith’s encouragement echoing in his mind and a newfound sense of confidence cultivated, he solved all the problems smoothly. Upon the release of the results, he got a much more satisfactory grade. A look of relief tinged with excitement appeared on his face. It dawned on him that with the courage to continue in the face of adversity, even the hardest challenges could be victories.
