Passage 1
(24-25高一下·河南信阳固始县永和高中联考·期末)
UR Essentials is a convenient and cost-effective textbook rental program that provides undergraduate students with all their required course materials on or before the first day of class.
While the program will provide all textbooks, e-textbooks, manuals, and access keys, free of charge, it will not provide single use materials such as lab goggles, engineering kits, and nursing kits.
Once students have registered for classes, the book store will receive course lists and begin preparing materials. One month before classes start, students will receive an email asking if they would prefer to pick up their materials in the store or have them shipped directly. Digital materials will be made available through Blackboard online.
Undergraduate students will be automatically (自动地) registered in the program, though they can choose to drop out. Dropping out will not reduce fees, as the cost of the program is included in tuition. If students decide to drop a class, and have already picked up their materials, they should return those materials within 48 hours.
Students will be required to return textbooks before the last day of final exams in a given semester, despite the length of the course. If students want to keep their textbooks at the end of the semester, they can buy them at a reduced price.
1.What is the purpose of UR Essentials?
A.To reduce the yearly tuition. B.To advertise for book stores.
C.To lower the cost of course materials. D.To inform the students of taking classes.
2.What is provided by the program for free?

C.E-mail accounts. D.Physical textbooks.

(24-25高一下·河南许昌·期末)
Got an old coat you no longer use? London’s annual charity coat collection is back this month — a chance to donate (捐赠) your spare winter coat to help homeless and vulnerable (易受伤害的) people. The WrapUp London activity is in its 12th year now. It helps Londoners donate coats to those in need during the winter.
Dates this year are till 27 November — not all collection points will be open on each date, and opening timings will vary across the different collection points, so check the map ahead of going.
There are 26 collection points across London — among them Safestore Self Storage venues (自助寄存点) in Croydon, Notting Hill, Crystal Palace and more.
WrapUp is now national — so if you’ re outside of London you can still donate through WrapUp Brighton & Have, WrapUp Scotland, North West England, North East England and Wales, and WrapUp Manchester, Bradford, Bristol, Birmingham and Leicester.
You can donate winter coats, ideally heavy ones. Lighter coats would also be welcomed to provide additional warmth. No sleeping bags or other related things are being collected.
After the collection, the coats are taken to storage spaces across London, where they’ re sorted and sent to community organisations across London. The homeless, elderly, children and families in poverty (贫穷) can go to these places to get clothes. The coats will be sent to people, rather than charity shops.

(24-25高一下·河南周口黄泛区部分学校·期末)
Lazy rivers are pretty much universally loved — after all, they are a perfect combination of relaxation and fun. Whether you’re seeking a quiet escape where you can be, quite literally, lazy or a fun-filled family outing, you’ll find a lazy river on this list.
Waco Waterslide | Waco, TX
Waco Waterslide, nearly a mile long, is said to be the longest lazy river in the U. S. You must buy a pass to ride the lazy river. In the open-air resort (度假区), you can also separately surf on a two-km² lake or try the overhead cables (缆车)pulling you around the water with no boat required.
East Portland Community Center | Portland, OR
This indoor lazy river for swimmers is short but sweet since it ends in a gentle whirlpool (旋涡) you have to kick to get out of. You need to get an affordable day pass to spend a few hours here in the two pools with a slow water slide — and then step outside to the green city park it sits in to have a picnic.
Tahiti Village Resort | Las Vegas, NV
Tahiti Village Resort is 660 feet long and passes four beautiful waterfalls, making it a winner. Although outside, it’s heated to over 80 degrees in the winter and the mid-70s in the summer. Plus, there is a sand-entry pool nearby, where visitors can shape the sand into whatever forms they like. To use the lazy river, you must be a guest of the resort.

Passage 2
(24-25高一下·河南安阳滑县部分学校·期末)
Dear visitors,
The Golden Gate National Parks is excited to welcome a new addition, Rancho Corral de Tierra. This park area is truly fascinating, especially because of its geology, which is quite different from the rest of the parks.
When you hike in the Marin Headlands or the Presidio, you may notice that most of the paths are covered with a reddish-brown rock called chert (燧石). It’s widely found in these parks. However, in Rancho Corral de Tierra, things are different. Here, you’ll find granite (花岗岩) instead.
Montara Mountain, located right next to Rancho Corral de Tierra, is 1,898 feet above sea level. It has a similar geology to Rancho Corral de Tierra, as both are made of granite. This granite formed about 100 million years ago and was once part of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Around 15 million years ago, the San Andreas Fault started to move, which split (断裂) the original granite block. The western part of the block then moved 300 miles north along the Pacific Plate, eventually forming Montara Mountain and making Rancho Corral de Tierra nearby.
When you hike here, you’ll walk on a surface of granite, which gives you a new experience. Next time you visit Rancho Corral de Tierra, take a close look at the granite rocks under your feet. Think about how long it took and how far these rocks have traveled to reach our national parks!
We are looking forward to your visit to experience the charm of this unique park!

A.It split from Rancho Corral de Tierra. B.It moved south from Sierra Nevada.
C.It formed due to the San Andreas Fault. D.It was once part of Pacific Plate.

A.Nursing kits. B.First-aid tools.
C.E-mail accounts. D.Physical textbooks.
3.When should students return materials if they drop out registered classes?
A.In 2 days. B.In a week.

Passage 2
Visit the WrapUp London website for details.

Passage 1
Glenwood Hot Springs Resort | Glenwood, CO
The Shoshone Chutes outdoor ride on the grounds of Glenwood Hot Springs Resort is open to the public. It has more excitements than most other lazy rivers, with sudden turns. The ride will last for only three minutes.
1.What makes East Portland Community Center different from the others?
A.It shelters visitors from the weather. B.It allows admission free of charge.
C.It lies next to a city park. D.It owns more than one water slide.
2.What can visitors do at Tahiti Village Resort?
A.Enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the resort. B.Make buildings out of sand.
C.Surf on a large lake. D.Have a picnic.
3.Which place may an adventure-seeker choose?
A.Waco Waterslide. B.East Portland Community Center.

(这条为游泳者设计的室内休闲漂流河虽然不长,但却别有一番风味,因为它最终会汇入一个温和的旋涡,你需要用力蹬水才能游出来)”、Tahiti Village Resort | Las Vegas, NV部分中“Although outside, it’s heated to over 80 degrees in the winter and the mid-70s in the summer. (虽然它位于室外,但在冬天,水温会被加热到80多度,夏天则保持在70多度)”、Glenwood Hot Springs Resort | Glenwood, CO部分中“The Shoshone Chutes outdoor ride on the grounds of Glenwood Hot Springs Resort is open to the public.
1.What is special about Rancho Corral de Tierra’s geology?
A.It has chert rocks. B.It has unique granite.
C.It’s similar to Marin Headlands. D.It’s part of Sierra Nevada now.
2.How did Montara Mountain come into being?
A.It split from Rancho Corral de Tierra. B.It moved south from Sierra Nevada.
C.It formed due to the San Andreas Fault. D.It was once part of Pacific Plate.
3.Where is this text most likely taken from?
A.A textbook. B.A news report. C.A travel guide. D.A research paper.
【答案】1.B 2.C 3.C

3.推理判断题。根据最后一段“We are looking forward to your visit to experience the charm of this unique park!(我们期待着您的到来,一同领略这座独特公园的魅力!)”以及全文以第二人称“you”直接对话,使用“hike”“visit”等动词,结尾用“We are looking forward to your visit”邀请游客,且内容侧重介绍公园特色和游览体验,符合旅游指南的风格。故选C。
