B When I was a little girl, my mom often put me in front of the TV while she did housework. Watching Julia Child from Julia & Company, whom I thought of as a babysitter, I absorbed the idea that the kitchen was a creative lab. By six, mom trusted me with chopping boiled eggs and mixing up cookie dough. Over the years, The French Chef and Good Eats filled my young brain with practical cooking skills and mom helped me put them into action. Today when you turn on the TV, you will see that Food Network, once the flagship of cooking instructions, has filled programs with competitions like Chopped with celebrity judges, presenting restaurant dishes as luxury experiences that create a forbidding barrier to the kitchen — a far cry from early TV chefs’ pursuit of accessibility. Product placements are built into the shows, turning cooking into a tool to chase ratings and make profits. Internet influencers have filled that gap with their creations, though not all pass our taste tests. With AI advancing, some influencers aren’t even humans. Their contents are just eye candy for shrinking attention spans. Yet hands-on practices that build life satisfaction, and any deeper link formed through them, are typically passed from one person to another. What I learned from The French Chef led me to the kitchen, but it was my mom who welcomed me to stand beside her at the counter, guiding me to chop vegetables and internalize many of her recipes to the degree that I can make them taste exactly as she did. It keeps her present in my life nearly a decade after she passed away. The TV and Internet offer countless resources for mastering a skill, but my own experience is a vivid illustration that real skills take root only through personal instruction — when someone, be it real or on the TV, guides us patiently through small steps from an early age. Now, decades later, when friends ask why my sauces never break, I know it’s those approachable, patient lessons from childhood living on in my hands. 24. What can be inferred about the author’s early life? A. She learned to cook from a young age.B. She valued her babysitter Julia’s help. C. She was addicted to watching TV shows.D. She was burdened with heavy housework. 25. How does the author find the current shows on Food Network? A. Unprofessional.B. Commercialized.C. Instructive.D. Innovative. 26. What does “my sauces never break” in the last paragraph probably mean? A. I never mess up a dish.B. I never try new ingredients. C. I never give up cooking.D. I never use mom’s recipes. 27. What message does the author want to convey? A. Childhood memories shape career choices. B. Hands-on guidance helps pass down skills. C. Self-education is an essential part of learning. D. Social media facilitate knowledge acquisition. C Today, AI models can do an astonishing variety of tasks from writing detailed reports to creating video on demand. Some people worry they will soon be surplus (过剩的) to requirements. But is AI actually putting anyone out of work? Lots of experts claim that it is. They point to a recent paper by Carl Benedikt Frey and Pedro Llanos-Paredes, from the University of Oxford, which suggests a link between automation and declining demand for translators. At the same time, however, official American data suggest that the number of people employed in translation and the like is 7% higher than a year ago. Others search the economic data for signs of the forthcoming AI job-loss, saying young graduates are now more likely than the average worker to be jobless. Well, no. American young graduates’ relative unemployment rate, which is actual unemployment rate minus (减) national average unemployment rate, started to rise in 2009, long before generative AI came along. And their actual unemployment rate (2025), at around 6%, remains low. As we examine American data on employment by occupation, we pick out workers believed to be vulnerable (易受影响的) to AI. These are white-collar employees, including people in back-office support, financial operations, sales and much more besides. We find that over the past year the employment in white-collar work has risen slightly. Across the board, America’s national average unemployment rate (2025) remains low, at 4.2%. Wage growth is still reasonably strong, which goes against the concern that AI is causing demand for labor to fall. And, outside America, earnings growth in many countries also remains strong. There are two competing causes of these trends. First, despite the endless announcements about integrating AI into operations, few companies make much use of the technology for serious work. The second is that even when companies do adopt the tech, they do not let people go. That said, whatever the cause, for now there is no need to panic. 28. What fuels people’s fear of being unemployed? A. Limitations of human labor. B. Modern technological advances. C. Complexity of tasks in the AI era. D. Heavy workload in various fields. 29. Which chart best shows American young graduates’ relative unemployment rate? A. B. C. D. 30. Why does the author mention two reasons in paragraph 6? A. To cite the data sources. B. To identify the likelier reason. C. To further justify his prediction. D. To model valid research methods. 31. What’s probably the author’s attitude towards human employment? A. Puzzled. B. Alarmed. C. Indifferent. D. Optimistic. D ( 原创 ) Depression and anxiety have become global health troubles, affecting hundreds of millions of people across the world. Standard treatments include talking therapies and anti-depressant drugs, both of which are widely used but come with obvious drawbacks: professional therapy costs much time and money, and drugs may cause unpleasant side effects. People have long noticed that exercise can lift mood. Yet experts have argued for years whether exercise can work as a formal medical treatment for depression, or merely serve as a casual way to kill stress. Now two large meta-analyses offer persuasive evidence that exercise is a powerful weapon against depression and anxiety, with effects comparable to traditional medical treatments. One analysis collected data from more than 100 studies. It showed that regular physical activity greatly eases symptoms of depression. The benefits apply to different groups, from ordinary stressed citizens to patients with severe mental disorders. Surprisingly, moderate daily exercise works better than occasional high-intensity training. It does not require exhausting workouts; simple walking or gentle cycling for 30 minutes counts a lot. However, researchers also warn against over-optimism. The two analyses are not perfect. Some included studies relied on self-reported mood changes, which may bring subjective bias. Besides, scientists have not figured out the exact biological links between exercise and mental health. Possible explanations involve reduced body inflammation and improved brain flexibility, but solid proof is still missing. Another practical barrier cannot be ignored. For people suffering from severe depression, lack of energy and willingness makes it extremely hard to stick to exercise plans. Therefore, though exercise proves effective, it cannot completely replace professional medical treatment for the time being. 32. What do the two new analyses find? A. High-intensity exercise suits most patients. B. Exercise can equal standard treatments for depression. C. Casual exercise has no effect on bad moods. D. Severe patients are not fit for sports. 33. What is the author’ s attitude towards the new findings? A. Doubtful B. Uninterested C. Objective D. Critical 34. What stops depressed patients from taking exercise regularly? A. Weak will and poor energy B. Limited medical guidance C. Doubts about the effects D. Heavy daily workload 35. Which can be the best title for the text? A. The drawbacks of medical treatments B. Ways to improve physical fitness C. Mental health: a global hidden crisis D. Exercise: a promising cure for depression The Key to Good Sleep: Consistency(原创) Many people believe that getting eight hours of sleep every night is the most important part of staying healthy. 36 The alerts and endless digital noise have shifted our focus from regular rest to late-night scrolling, making sleep schedules more chaotic than ever. But screen time is only one of the challenges surrounding healthy sleep habits. Let’s examine the common belief we hold: “sleep duration equals quality”. This phrase frames good sleep as a fixed number, something we either “get enough of” or “don’t”. 37 It fails to recognize sleep as a dynamic process, where consistency matters more than the exact hours spent in bed. 38 Great scientists have long studied the human body’s natural rhythm, known as the circadian clock. Similarly, your sleep schedule offers a powerful way to keep your body in balance. Is it really that simple? Yes! Consistent bedtimes help regulate melatonin, the hormone that controls sleep. But in practice, it is far from simple sometimes. It’s easy to keep a steady schedule when life is calm. But when you’re feeling stressed or busy, simply aiming for eight hours may not be enough. 39 Try an exercise called “Fixed Bedtime Practice”. Pick a time you want to sleep every night, and stick to it—even on weekends. Recruit a friend or family member to check in with you and encourage your progress. Pay close attention to how you feel after a week: more energy, better focus, or improved mood. 40 What you’ll discover is that good sleep comes naturally when you work with your body’s rhythm, not against it. Gradually, through repeated practice, you can master the art of consistent sleep. A. This view oversimplifies the concept of healthy sleep. B. This reflects a shift from structured rest to irregular routines. C. Instead, we should view sleep as a conversation with our body’s internal clock. D. The key point of rhythm alignment is emphasized accordingly. E. These changes will show whether your new schedule is working. F. Sleep regularity is becoming increasingly rare in our digital age. G. Thus, it is high time you started building a steady sleep routine to protect your health. Careers in science are generally believed to be too complex for students who aren't talented or clever enough, but Seott Kelly, commander of the International Space Station, would prove it's___41___. That was all. And sixty cents of it in the smallest pieces of money - pennies. Pennies saved one and two at a time by negotiating with the men at the market who sold vegetables and meat. Three times Della counted it. One dollar and eighty-seven cents. And the next day would be Christmas. There was clearly nothing to do but sit down and cry. Della finished her crying and dried her face. She stood by the window and looked out unhappily at a gray cat walking along a gray fence in a gray back yard. Tomorrow would be Christmas Day, and she had only one dollar and eighty-seven cents to buy her husband Jim a gift. She had been saving every penny she could for months, with this result. There was a tall glass mirror between the windows of the room. Suddenly Della turned from the window and stood before the glass mirror and looked at herself. Her eyes were shining, but her face had lost its color within twenty seconds. Quickly she pulled down her hair and let it fall to its full length. Now, Mister and Missus James Dillingham Young had two possessions which they valued. One was Jim's gold time piece, the watch that had been his father's and his grandfather's. The other was Della's hair. So now Della's beautiful hair fell about her, shining like a brown waterfall. It reached below her knees and made itself almost like a covering for her. And then quickly she put it up again. She stood still while a few tears fell on the floor. She put on her coat and her old brown hat. With a quick motion and brightness still in her eyes, she danced out the door and down the street. Where she stopped the sign read: "Madame Sofronie. Hair Goods of All Kinds." Della ran up the steps to the shop, out of breath. "Will you buy my hair?" asked Della. "I buy hair," said Madame. "Take your hat off and let us have a look at it." Down came the beautiful brown waterfall of hair. "Twenty dollars," said Madame, lifting the hair with an experienced hand. "Give it to me quick," said Della. The next two hours went by as if they had wings. Della looked in all the stores to choose a gift for Jim. She found it at last. It surely had been made for Jim and no one else. It was a chain -- simple round rings of silver. It was perfect for Jim's gold watch. She gave the shopkeeper twenty-one dollars and she hurried home with the eighty-seven cents that was left. When Della arrived home she began to repair what was left of her hair. The hair had been ruined by her love and her desire to give a special gift. Repairing the damage was a very big job. At seven o'clock that night the coffee was made and the pan on the back of the stove was hot and ready to cook the meat. Jim was never late coming home from work. Della held the silver chain in her hand and sat near the door. Then she heard his step and she turned white for just a minute. She had a way of saying a little silent prayer about the simplest everyday things, and now she whispered: "Please God, make him think I am still pretty." Para.1 : The door opened and Jim stepped in. ______________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Para. 2: Inside Jim’s package were the combs – something special to hold her hair that Della had wanted ever since she saw them in a shop window. ______________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $第一节听下面五段录音。 Let's meet at twenty to five. What I learned fromThe French Chef led me to the kitchen, but it was my mom who welcomed me to stand beside her at the counter, guiding me to chop vegetables and internalize many of her recipes to the degree that I can make them taste exactly as she did. A    25. B    26. A    27. 根据首段中的“When I was a little girl, my mom often put me in front of the TV while she did housework. Watching Julia Child from Julia & Company, whom I thought of as a babysitter, I absorbed the idea that the kitchen was a creative lab. By six, mom trusted me with chopping boiled eggs and mixing up cookie dough.(当我还是个小女孩的时候,妈妈做家务时经常把我放在电视机前。我看《朱莉娅和伙伴们》节目里的朱莉娅·查尔德,把她当成保姆,从中我明白了厨房是一个创意实验室。六岁时,妈妈放心让我切煮鸡蛋和搅拌曲奇面团)”可知,作者从小就开始学习烹饪。 25.推理判断题。根据第二段中的“Product placements are built into the shows, turning cooking into a tool to chase ratings and make profits.(产品植入融入到节目中,将烹饪变成了追逐收视率和盈利的一种手段)”可知,作者认为如今的美食节目商业化了。 26. 根据末段中的“I know it’s those approachable, patient lessons from childhood living on in my hands.(我知道是童年那些浅显易懂、耐心的教导留在了我的手上)”可知,作者从小接受耐心指导,厨艺娴熟、做菜从不出错。画线短语my sauces never break应含有“做菜从不失手”之意,这与“I never mess up a dish.” 结合第三段中的“Yet hands-on practices that build life satisfaction, and any deeper link formed through them, are typically passed from one person to another.(然而,那些能提升生活满意度的实践活动,以及通过这些活动建立起来的更深层次的联系,通常是从一个人传递给另一个人的)”以及末段中的“The TV and Internet offer countless resources for mastering a skill, but my own experience is a vivid illustration that real skills take root only through personal instruction — when someone, be it real or on the TV, guides us patiently through small steps from an early age.(电视和互联网为掌握一项技能提供了无数资源,但我自己的经历生动地表明,真正的技能只有通过亲身指导才能生根发芽——当有人,无论是真人还是电视上的人,从小就耐心地一步步引导我们时)”可知,作者想要传达的核心是实践指导有助于技能的传承。 C Today, AI models can do an astonishing variety of tasks from writing detailed reports to creating video on demand. D. Optimistic. B 29. A 30. C 31. 根据第一段“Today, AI models can do an astonishing variety of tasks from writing detailed reports to creating video on demand. Some people worry they will soon be surplus (过剩的) to requirements. But is AI actually putting anyone out of work?(如今,人工智能模型可以完成从撰写详细报告到按需创建视频等各种令人惊叹的任务。一些人担心他们很快就会过剩。但人工智能真的会让人们失业吗?)”可知,现代技术进步引发了人们对失业的恐惧。 29. 推理判断题。根据第三段中“American young graduates’ relative unemployment rate, which is actual unemployment rate minus (减) national average unemployment rate, started to rise in 2009, long before generative AI came along. And their actual unemployment rate (2025), at around 6%, remains low.(美国年轻毕业生的相对失业率(即实际失业率减去全国平均失业率)早在2009年就开始上升了,这远早于生成式人工智能出现的时间。 根据第六段“There are two competing causes of these trends. First, despite the endless announcements about integrating AI into operations, few companies make much use of the technology for serious work. The second is that even when companies do adopt the tech, they do not let people go.(造成这些趋势有两个相互竞争的原因。首先,尽管不断有关于将人工智能融入运营的公告,但很少有公司将这项技术用于严肃的工作。其次,即使公司采用了这项技术,他们也不会解雇员工。)”以及最后一段“That said, whatever the cause, for now there is no need to panic.(也就是说,不管是什么原因,目前都没有必要恐慌。)” 根据最后一段“That said, whatever the cause, for now there is no need to panic.(也就是说,不管是什么原因,目前都没有必要恐慌。)” D( 原创 ) Depression and anxiety have become global health troubles, affecting hundreds of millions of people across the world. Exercise: a promising cure for depression 【答案】32. B 33. C 34. A 35. 32. 由原文第二段“Now two large meta-analyses offer persuasive evidence that exercise is a powerful weapon against depression and anxiety, with effects comparable to traditional medical treatments.” 34. 由原文最后一段“For people suffering from severe depression, lack of energy and willingness makes it extremely hard to stick to exercise plans.”可知,阻碍抑郁患者规律运动的是精力不足和缺乏意愿,与A项“Weak will and poor energy”对应。 故选A。 35. D项“Exercise: a promising cure for depression”能精准概括全文主旨。 The Key to Good Sleep: Consistency(原创) Many people believe that getting eight hours of sleep every night is the most important part of staying healthy. B 37. A 38. C 39. G 40. 故选A。 38. Careers in science are generally believed to be too complex for students who aren't talented or clever enough, but Seott Kelly, commander of the International Space Station, would prove it's___41___. One dollar and eighty-seven cents. ____________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Para. 2: Inside Jim’s package were the combs – something special to hold her hair that Della had wanted ever since she saw them in a shop window. __________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Para. 1: The door opened and Jim stepped in. Staring at Della's eyes shining with anticipation, Jim widened his eyes at the sight of her new haircut and squeezed out a faint smile to mask his inner dismay. Della danced towards him and spread out her palm with the shiny chain inside, saying gently, "Merry Christmas, honey!" Realizing Della had sold her beloved hair for his gift, Jim was reduced to tears and embraced her tightly. While stroking her short hair, he murmured in a choked voice, "I've also got a gift for you!" as he reached for a package. Para. 2: Inside Jim’s package were the combs – something special to hold her hair that Della had wanted ever since she saw them in a shop window. Her breath caught as she stared at the jeweled combs — now useless without her long hair. Tears welled up, but soon she laughed through them, hugging Jim tightly. "My hair will grow back," she whispered. Jim smiled and held her close. They had both sacrificed their greatest treasures for each other, yet in that quiet moment, they understood the truest gift of all: a love far deeper than any watch, any comb, or any amount of gold.
