A
You’re not alone! Lots of kids have homework worries. The good news is that there are tips that can help.
Make a plan. On a calendar, list your activities. Then add specific times for doing homework each day.
Set small goals. Divide each homework task into steps, or “mini goals.” They can help you make progress.
Work in a quiet place. It’s easy to get distracted (分神的), so choose a place where you won’t be stopped by other things happening in your home. Put away electronic products, too.
Ask for help. If you get stuck, reach out to a family member, teacher, or friend. Good luck, and be patient with yourself!
Everyone has fears, and that’s OK. It’s how we deal with our fears that matters most. You can make choices and take actions that will help you be less afraid.
For example, you can avoid books, movies, and TV shows where ghosts are mentioned. If someone else is watching a show with ghosts in it, you can choose to leave the room. If they ask why you’re leaving, you could say, “I just don’t like thinking about ghosts.” You might also find it helpful to try changing scary thoughts in your mind into positive or even funny thoughts.
Start by making two piles: “ready to go” and “keep.” If you’re not sure how you feel about a toy, play with it. If you don’t really enjoy it anymore, put it in the “ready to go” pile. If you want to keep a toy mainly because it brings you good memories, take a picture of it. Being able to “keep” the photo might make it easier to part with the actual toy.
With a parent or another trusted adult, find out local charities that will accept your toys. Thinking of the kids who will enjoy them may make it easier.
1.What is Sophie’s problem?
A.She has too little free time after school.
B.She doesn’t have a quiet place to study.
C.She has trouble understanding her homework.
D.She can’t get the homework done according to the timetable.
2.If Chappie wants to get rid of his fear of ghosts, he should ________.
A.talk about ghosts with his friends every day
B.try to prove that there are no ghosts in the world
C.watch more movies about ghosts to learn more about them
D.stay away from scary things and think of something good instead
3.According to the passage, what can help Scarlett feel better about giving away toys?
A.Selling part of the toys instead. B.Giving away only broken toys.
C.Imagining other kids enjoying them. D.Keeping all the toys in a box.
1.根据第一幅图片“I can’t finish my homework on time”,这直接说明了Sophie的问题是不能按时完成作业。
2.第七段提到“For example, you can avoid books, movies, and TV shows where ghosts are mentioned... try changing scary thoughts in your mind into positive or even funny thoughts.”,这直接说明了避免接触恐怖内容并将可怕的想法转化为积极或有趣的想法可以帮助克服恐惧,D选项“远离吓人的内容,转而去想好的事物”完全符合。
3.最后一段提到“Thinking of the kids who will enjoy them may make it easier.”,这直接说明了想到其他孩子会喜欢这些玩具会让捐赠变得更容易。

Every time the boy saw the house miles away with its golden-diamond windows shining brightly, his heart beat with excitement. One day, he went alone on a journey to find this beautiful house. His bare feet (赤脚) left prints in the white dust, and when he looked back, the footprints seemed to follow and stay with him. His shadow stayed beside him too, dancing or running at his will.
After a long time he came to a high green hill, where there was the house on the top, but it seemed that the shutters (百叶窗) were up, for he could not see the golden windows. He walked closer to the house and almost cried, because the windows were of clear glass, .
A woman came to the door and greeted him.
“I saw the golden windows from our hilltop,” he said, “and I came to see them, but…”
The woman smiled softly, “We’re just farmers and we could never afford golden windows.” She invited him in, where he met her daughter, a barefoot girl of his age with hair as golden as the windows he’d admired.
When the boy asked about the golden windows, the girl nodded. “But you’ re looking in the wrong place!” she shouted. “Come on. I’ll show you the real ones.”
Hand in hand they went to the top of the hill behind the house, and as they waited, the sun sank (下沉) low and sent long rays (光线) across the valley (山谷). Then the little girl pointed, and the boy looked. There, on a distant hill, stood a house with windows shining like gold and diamonds.
“Look!” cried the little girl, “There are your golden windows!”
The boy looked with his eyes wide open. The setting sun had turned the clear glass of his own windows to gold, shining brightly.
Then he thanked the woman and her daughter, and went down the hill. All the way home he felt glad, because he knew at last where the golden windows were.
4.Which of the following sentences can be put in the “_______”.
A.and there was much gold in front of them
B.and there was no gold anywhere around them
C.and he saw some gold near the glass windows
D.and the window frames were made of gold
5.Why did their windows look golden from far away?
A.Because there was real gold on the windows.
B.Because the host put golden stickers on the glass.
C.Because the windows were painted golden.
D.Because the setting sun shone on the ordinary glass windows.
6.How did the boy’s feelings in the story change?

4.第一段“Every time the boy saw the house miles away with its golden-diamond windows shining brightly, his heart beat with excitement. One day, he went alone on a journey to find this beautiful house.”说明男孩远远看见金色窗户,满怀期待赶来,第二段“After a long time he came to a high green hill, where there was the house on the top, but it seemed that the shutters were up, for he could not see the golden windows. He walked closer to the house and almost cried, because the windows were of clear glass”说明他走近发现只是普通透明玻璃,可推断此处应放B项“and there was no gold anywhere around them”表示其实没有金子。
5.倒数第二段“The setting sun had turned the clear glass of his own windows to gold, shining brightly.”
6.第一段“Every time the boy saw the house miles away with its golden-diamond windows shining brightly, his heart beat with excitement.”说明男孩远远看见金色窗户,内心很激动;第二段“He walked closer to the house and almost cried, because the windows were of clear glass…”说明发现没有金窗,失望难过;倒数第二、三段“‘Look!’ cried the little girl, ‘There are your golden windows!’ The boy looked with his eyes wide open. Scientists have found facts that raccoons in the US are changing their appearance as they spend more time near humans. The researchers think it’s the start of “domestication (驯化)”, which is a type of evolution (进化). Evolution is how living things change over time to fit into their environment and improve their chances of staying alive, and domestication means changing to fit in with human environments.
In cities or towns where there are a lot of people, there is often much leftover food in rubbish bins and not many enemies. So wild animals can gradually change to fit into the life here and domesticate themselves. Fully domesticated animals, like dogs and cats, often have smaller teeth, curly tails, short noses and soft ears compared with their wild relatives such as wolves and lions.
A team of students led by Raffaela Lesch analyzed almost 20,000 pictures of raccoons across the US. Their study found that raccoons living in cities had shorter noses than their relatives living in the countryside. This change may be connected with their behavior. Animals that develop gentler behaviors have shorter noses. Lesch says, “Leftover food is really the starter of it all”.
Raccoons are mainly active at night and are known for looking for food from rubbish bins. Getting to bins, which are often near humans, requires raccoons to be quite tame — or be friendly and not scared of humans. As Lesch explains, “All they have to do is stay around us and not be aggressive (有攻击性的), and then they can enjoy a good meal on anything we throw away”.
Some experts think that the signs of domestication, like short noses, help to make animals seem less dangerous or more lovely to humans. However, not all scientists agree with Lesch’s study. Although raccoons could ever become truly domesticated, they are still wild animals.
8.What do we know about raccoons in cities from the text?
A.They often get their meals from rubbish bins.
B.They have longer noses than country raccoons.
C.They often search for food during the daytime.
D.They grow more scared of humans than before.
9.What does the underlined word “tame” in Paragraph 4 probably mean?
A.Wild. B.Beautiful. C.Dangerous. D.Gentle.
10.What can we infer about raccoons from Lesch’s study?
A.They will soon become fully domesticated like dogs.
B.They are slowly developing to live better near humans.
C.They have more enemies in cities than in the countryside.
D.They need to be aggressive to get food from rubbish bins.
11.What’s the main idea of the text?
A.How people live with wild animals.
B.How raccoons look for food in cities.
C.What changes happen to city raccoons.
D.Why wild animals have special looks.

Have you heard of “the giant panda of the water”? It’s the Yangtze finless porpoise (江豚), a national first-class protected animal found only in the Yangtze River. Sadly, its population dropped from about 2,700 in the early 1990s to around 1,800 by 2006. One reason is the increase in boat traffic, which has led to more noise and pollution in the river.
To protect the river and its wildlife, the government has come up with some new ideas. One is the river and lake chief system Under this system, leaders at different levels are responsible for protecting rivers and lakes.
“No illegal (非法的) pollution was found, and there are no obvious floating objects (漂浮物) on the river,” Ouyang Junnian, the river chief of Dutoutang town in Hunan, reported while checking the river on May 16, 2023. Besides this routine task, the chiefs also help deal with wastewater and protect riverbanks. Hunan has also set up the “12314” hotline so people can report problems.
Since January 1, 2021, a 10-year fishing ban has also been in place. It stops people from fishing in the Yangtze River. This ban is important because too much fishing has left the Yangtze finless porpoises with less food and has caused some to get caught in fishing nets.
Thanks to these efforts, the number of Yangtze finless porpoises rose from 1,012 in 2017 to 1,249 in 2022. Other important animals, such as the Chinese sturgeon (中华鲟), are also coming back. From 2021 to 2024, scientists found 344 native fish species in the Yangtze River, which is 36 more than the number found between 2017 and 2020.
12.Why is the Yangtze finless porpoise called “the giant panda of the water”?
A.It looks like the giant panda in the forest.
B.It feeds on the same food as the giant panda.
C.It is a rare protected animal like the giant panda.
D.It shares the same living place with the giant panda.
13.What does the underlined word “this” in Paragraph 3 refer to?
A.Checking the river for pollution and floating objects.
B.Setting up the “12314” hotline for people to call.
C.Building new factories along the Yangtze River.
D.Protecting riverbanks from being destroyed.
14.What is the main idea of the fourth paragraph (Paragraph 4)?
A.To show how people break the rules of the fishing ban.
B.To explain why the Yangtze finless porpoises have less food.
C.To tell us the fishing ban has no good influence on the river.
D.To introduce the importance of the fishing ban and its effects.
15.What can we infer from the passage?
A.The Yangtze finless porpoise will face no dangers soon.
B.The river protection work will continue in the future.
C.No more native fish species will be found in the river.
D.The fishing ban will be ended before 2031.
【答案】12.C 13.A 14.D 15.B
12.第一段明确指出原因:“It’s the Yangtze finless porpoise (江豚), a national first-class protected animal found only in the Yangtze River”以及结合常识可知大熊猫是珍稀保护动物,说明长江江豚被称为“水中大熊猫”是因为它和大熊猫一样是珍稀保护动物。
13.第三段提到“‘No illegal (非法的) pollution was found, and there are no obvious floating objects (漂浮物) on the river,’ Ouyang Junnian, the river chief of Dutoutang town in Hunan, reported while checking the river on May 16, 2023. Besides this routine task...”,前文提到河长巡查河流时,汇报的内容就是检查是否存在非法污染、河面漂浮物,因此this指代的就是这项日常工作,对应A选项。
14.第四段提到“Since January 1, 2021, a 10-year fishing ban has also been in place. It stops people from fishing in the Yangtze River. This ban is important because too much fishing has left the Yangtze finless porpoises with less food and has caused some to get caught in fishing nets.”,本段主要介绍了十年禁渔令,指出过度捕捞导致江豚食物减少和被渔网缠绕,说明禁渔令的重要性及其效果。
15.从文中政府采取一系列保护措施以及“Thanks to these efforts, the number of Yangtze finless porpoises rose from 1,012 in 2017 to 1,249 in 2022. Other important animals, such as the Chinese sturgeon (中华鲟), are also coming back.”

Owning a pet is a fun and rewarding experience. But animals and their needs are different, so how can you make sure that you choose the right one for yourself? Here are some top tips.
Do your research
You may like the look of a special pet but that doesn’t mean it is right for you. 16 So, think carefully about what you want from your pet and do some research before you keep it.
Some pets may also require more vet care than others. Take French bulldogs and pugs for example, they can suffer many health problems over their lifetime, including problems with their breathing and skin conditions due to their special features. 17
Think about your lifestyle
For example, if you work full time and you want a dog, who would take care of it during the day? 18 Know yourself with the size and exercise requirements of different pets to make sure they’re the right choice for you.
Do your sums
19 Consider the cost before you pick a pet and make sure you can afford it. From everyday things like insurance, food and toys to unexpected vet bills, having a pet is certainly a spending.
Use a trustworthy breeder (饲养员)
If you do want to buy a dog or cat, ask a vet or breed club to recommend a trustworthy breeder. Ask the breeder for all the relevant paperwork and see the pet’s parents or relatives to check their temper, general health and welfare (福利). 20 It is because these may well turn out to be dealers who have little interest in the welfare of the pets they sell.
Choosing the right pet takes time and thought, but it’s worth it. A happy pet and a happy owner start with making the right choice.
A.Don’t throw yourself into money problems.
B.Don’t shop online or from dealers who have no requirement.
C.Charities can offer support and advice about personal pets.
D.Every pet has its own personality and some often have strong characters.
E.If you want a cat, can it go outdoors while you’re out during the day?
F.We’d advise pet lovers to do their research before taking on one of these pets.
【答案】16.D 17.F 18.E 19.A 20.B

17.前文以法国斗牛犬和哈巴狗为例,说明它们一生中可能会遭受许多健康问题,此处需要给出针对这种情况的建议,F项“We’d advise pet lovers to do their research before taking on one of these pets.”
18.前文以“如果你全职工作且想养狗,白天谁来照顾它”为例,说明要考虑生活方式,此处需要进一步举例说明,E项“If you want a cat, can it go outdoors while you’re out during the day?”
20.后文提到“因为这些很可能是对所售宠物福利不感兴趣的经销商”,此处需要说明不要从哪些渠道购买宠物,B项“Don’t shop online or from dealers who have no requirement.”

sent out“寄出”、left behind“落下”、handed in“上交”,都不符合“挂着不摘”。

固定句型“it is time to do sth.”,意为“是时候做某事了”,所以用不定式to start。

Corn, sweet potato, soybean and oats are all coarse food grains(粗粮). 2 Eating coarse food grains is good for your health. They have a lot of dietary fiber(食用纤维). It’s good for your stomach. You can cook them in porridge or make drinks with them.
Why shouldn’t we bend our heads for a long time?
Keeping your head bent down for long is not good for your neck. Why is that? It’s because you put too much pressure on your neck. It’s like putting two watermelons (about 27 kilograms) on your neck. You might have neck and shoulder pain by doing that.
Why shouldn’t we rub(揉) our eyes?
Your hands are much dirtier than you think. When you rub your eyes, the bacteria(细菌) on your hands might go into your eyes. If something gets in your eyes, do not rub them. Clean them with running water instead.
Why is a cold-water bath after exercising bad?
After exercising, your skin is sweating(流汗) and your heart is beating fast. A cold-water bath will stimulate(刺激) them too much. It might make you sick. You’d better wait for a while until your body cools down. Then you can take a warm-water bath to relax.

A
You’re not alone!

A.She has too little free time after school.
B.She doesn’t have a quiet place to study.

D.stay away from scary things and think of something good instead
3.According to the passage, what can help Scarlett feel better about giving away toys?
A.Selling part of the toys instead. B.Giving away only broken toys.
C.Imagining other kids enjoying them. D.Keeping all the toys in a box.
