Lando Norris’ dream of a Formula 1 (一级方程式赛车) drivers’ title has come true. On December 7, 2025, he finally won the first world title of his career. Congratulations!
When the last race of the F1 season ended, Norris screamed on the team radio. He was super excited to become world No. 1! Then we heard him say: “I love you guys (his team members). I love you, Mum. I love you, Dad. Thanks for everything. I’m not crying!” Well, while he was saying this, tears were actually rolling down his face inside his helmet. He had every right to be in tears because his path to victory had been so hard.
Lando began racing at a young age. When he entered F1 in 2019, everyone had high hopes for him. However, he didn’t have very good results. He made mistakes and didn’t win any race until the 2024 Miami Grand Prix Some unkind people called him Lando “No-wins.” They laughed at him and doubted his abilities and skills.
Lando was once very sad about this. But he managed to keep positive and continued to work hard. He turned the doubts and criticism (批判) into fuel to become a better driver and person. Finally, he answered all the doubters and critics with his first F1 world title.
Lando may not look very cool or have a strong personality like the other world champions before him, but he works hard for every race and plays fair; he supports his team and even stays to help mechanics (机械师) take apart the cars after races. Even though African elephants are protected, many of them are still being killed for their ivory (象牙).
At the end of the 1970s, over 1.3 million elephants walked around Africa, but today, their numbers have fallen to around 450,000. This is mainly caused by illegal (非法的) hunting for ivory. This has resulted in the deaths of at least 20,000 African elephants each year.
Ivory, also known as “white gold”, has long been considered precious. Its unusual look has led to its use in lots of expensive things, including jewellery (珠宝), musical instruments and art. And the ivory material (材料) itself can stand the test of time. So many people would like to pay a high price for ivory products.
Luckily, some scientists are working hard to achieve the same beauty of ivory without killing any animals. Thaddäa Rath and her team at the University of Vienna have created the ivory called “Digory”. The high-tech ivory is made from synthetic resin (合成树脂) and calcium phosphate particles (磷酸钙颗粒). It’s first formed into the shape by a 3D printer. And then it is color-matched and colored. Next, it is polished (抛光) to make it look like real natural ivory.
Although Digory looks so real that it is hard to tell it from real ivory, its chemical structure (化学结构) is completely different from that of the real one. Scientists have made some achievements, but we still need to do more research to make sure that it is widely used. It’s still hopeful that scientists will be able to protect African elephants by making high-tech materials to replace the real ivory.

China Leads World with First Approved Implantable BCI Medical Device
On March 13, 2026, China reached a major milestone in medical technology. The National Medical Products Administration approved the world’s first commercial implantable brain-computer interface (BCI) device for medical use. This device, called the NEO System, was developed by Shanghai’s Neuracle together with Tsinghua University. With this approval, China has become a leader in the field of neurotechnology.
The NEO System is designed for patients between the ages of 18 and 60 who have cervical spinal cord injuries. These injuries often make it difficult or impossible for people to move their hands freely. The device uses a special type of implant that is placed just outside the brain’s outer layer. Because it does not touch the brain tissue directly, the medical risks are low. The system reads brain signals without any wires and turns them into commands for a robotic glove. With this glove, patients can do everyday things like holding a cup, drinking water, or picking up objects by themselves.
Before the device was approved, it went through clinical trials in 11 major hospitals across China. A total of 32 patients took part in the tests. The results were encouraging. Every patient showed better control of their hands. What’s more, nearly 69 percent of them still had improved nerve function even after not using the device for a long time. While some top international companies are still doing clinical tests with similar technologies, China has already made this life-changing device available for patient care.
This approval means much more than just a technological success. It brings new hope to millions of people around the world who live with paralysis. It also shows how far China has advanced in high-level medical research. This moment is an important step in brain science and shows the growing strength of Chinese innovation. It proves that China can create real solutions to improve people’s lives.
However, experts also remind us that BCI technology is still in its early stages. The long-term effects of the device still need to be studied further. Even so, this achievement marks a bright beginning for the future of medical technology.
61.Why is the approval of this BCI device considered a landmark (里程碑) moment?
A.It is the first time a robotic glove has been used in a hospital.
B.It is the world’s first commercial BCI device officially allowed for patient care.
C.It proves that spinal cord injuries can be completely cured.
D.It was developed by a university without any company support.
62.What can the NEO System help patients with cervical spinal cord injuries do?
A.Move their hands freely and finish daily tasks easily.
B.Take medicine without others’ help.
C.Avoid any medical risks during operations.
D.Become completely healthy at once.
63.What do we know about the clinical trials of the BCI device?
A.The trials took place in 11 hospitals and all 32 patients showed better hand control.
B.All patients stopped using the device after they fully recovered.
C.The trials showed that the device only works for patients under 18 years old.
D.Patients had to use the device every day to keep their nerve function.
64.What can we infer (推断) about BCI development in other countries from the text?
A.They have not yet officially approved a similar device for medical use.
B.They are not interested in helping patients with spinal cord injuries.
C.They have already sold more BCI devices than China.
D.They mainly focus on developing robotic gloves instead of brain implants.
65.Which of the following best describes the author’s attitude toward the new BCI technology?
A.The author thinks it is perfect and has no risks.
B.The author is worried that patients will not accept the surgery.
C.The author reports the success but also mentions it still needs long-term study.
D.The author doubts that the device can really help patients.

Everyone makes mistakes in daily life. Sometimes we hurt a friend’s feelings by accident, or say something impolite without thinking. These mistakes can make others unhappy and even hurt our relationships. Once you know your mistake, the first thing you should do is say sorry. 66
First, you should say that you feel sorry for what happened. You need to clearly say the words, “I’m sorry.” Make sure you don’t say “I’m sorry you were angry,” or “I’m sorry you felt that way.” 67 Instead, be polite and say something like “I regret doing that to hurt you.”
Second, you should offer to correct your mistake. If you break someone’s bike, you should offer to fix the bike. If you lose your classmate’s book, you should buy a new one and give it back. 68 The money is regarded as a kind of compensation (补偿). But other times compensation doesn’t mean giving money. It means changing your actions in the future.
69 Besides saying the sorry words, you need to talk more about what you did wrong. For example, you might say “I know a good friend should not do that.”
All in all, saying sorry is a way to show your regretful feelings. 70 If it is your mistake, you should say sorry properly and try to let the other person forgive (原谅) you.
A.It is also a good chance to correct your mistake.
B.But do you know how to say sorry in the right way?
C.Sometimes giving them some money is also a good choice.

Living with a host family is a 36 experience. Although being away from my family for a long time can be challenging, it allows me to see things in a different way.
I grew up near the Pacific Ocean. My family loved spending time at the beach, 37 I often felt bored when we went there. When I moved to Germany and shared my beach stories with my host family, they were very surprised. Once, we were trying to decide what to do on a Saturday morning. My host dad 39 visiting a nearby castle (城堡). The kids complained and said, “Oh no, not another castle!” I was surprised because I had never seen a real castle before.
36.B 37.A 38.C 39.A 40.B 41.A 42.C 43.B 44.A 45.C
后文提到“Living with my host family taught me to value new experiences”,体现这段经历很有意义,special“特别的”贴合文意。
前半句“My family loved spending time at the beach”和后半句“I often felt bored”语义相反,but表转折符合逻辑。
下文提到“which they saw as a magical place they had only seen in movies or read about in books”,说明他们十分向往大海,不会放弃机会,give up“放弃”契合语境。give out“分发”,give in“屈服”,和句意搭配不通顺。
后文孩子们回应“Oh no, not another castle!”,能看出是大人提出游玩建议,suggested“提议”后接动名词visiting符合语法和语境。
上文提到“I was surprised because I had never seen a real castle before”,作者从未见过真城堡,内心充满期待,exciting“令人兴奋的”贴合心情。
上文提到“The castle was ancient, with tall stone walls and towers”,古老的城堡容易让人产生遐想,imagined“想象”符合场景。
下文提到“see the beauty in things I might not have noticed before”,体现学会珍视新鲜体验、发现美好,value“珍惜、重视”符合语境。
上文提到“open our eyes to the world around us”,寓意发现并欣赏身边美好,admire“欣赏”适配搭配。
整段讲述寄宿生活带来人生启发,结合后文“me a lifelong love for exploring new cultures and places”,taught“教会、使领悟”契合经历育人的文意。

Even during hard times, he always had a smile on his face. A person like that isn’t just a champion on the track-he’s a role model off it as well.
51.Why did Lando cry inside his helmet?
A.He regretted his early racing mistakes.
B.He was very sad about his past failures.
C.He feared people would still laugh at him.
D.He was excited and touched by his hard journey.
52.What does the underlined word “fuel” in Paragraph 4 mean?
A.The energy and drive to keep moving forward.
B.The material used to make machines run.
C.The feeling that stops one from improving.
D.The sadness that makes people give up.
53.Which statement is TRUE according to the passage?
A.Lando won his first race after entering it in 2019.
B.Lando never helps his team fix the cars after races.
C.People laughed at him for his failure for some years.
D.Lando is similar to other champions in personality.
54.Which is the correct order of Lando’s story?
①He won his first F1 world title. ②People called him “No-wins”.
③He entered F1 with high expectations. ④He turned criticism into motivation.
A. ③→②→④→① B.③→④→②→①
C.②→③→①→④ D.②→④→③→①
55.What is the passage mainly about?
A.The rules and history of Formula 1 races.
B.Lando’s road to success and his positive spirit.
C.Different opinions on Lando’s racing skills.
D.How to become a top racing driver quickly.
51.D 52.A 53.C 54.A 55.B
51.第二段提到:“He had every right to be in tears because his path to victory had been so hard.”以及“while he was saying this, tears were actually rolling down his face inside his helmet”,说明他哭是因为对自己艰难的夺冠历程感到激动和感动。
52.第四段提到:“He turned the doubts and criticism (批判) into fuel to become a better driver and person.”,这里说把质疑和批判转化为“fuel”从而成为更好的车手和人,结合语境可知“fuel”意思是推动自己不断前进的能量和动力。
53.第三段提到:“He made mistakes and didn’t win any race until the 2024 Miami Grand Prix (美国迈阿密大奖赛). Some unkind people called him Lando ‘No-wins.’ They laughed at him and doubted his abilities and skills.”,说明人们因为他多年的失败而嘲笑他。
54.第三段提到:“When he entered F1 in 2019, everyone had high hopes for him.”对应③;第三段提到:“Some unkind people called him Lando ‘No-wins.’”对应②;第四段提到:“He turned the doubts and criticism (批判) into fuel to become a better driver and person.”对应④;第一段提到:“On December 7, 2025, he finally won the first world title of his career.”

D.These two sentences may make the other person more angry.
E.Third, let the person know you’ve clearly understood your mistake.
【答案】66.B 67.D 68.C 69.E 70.A
66.上文说“the first thing you should do is to say sorry”,下文则开始分步骤讲解如何正确道歉。B选项“But do you know how to say sorry in the right way?”
67.上文表明“I’m sorry you were angry,”和“I’m sorry you felt that way.”这两句话是不能说的,D选项“These two sentences may make the other person more angry.”
68.上文举例说明丢失同学书本可以“buy a new one and give it back”作为补偿,下文提到了money也可以作为一种补偿方式,C选项“Sometimes giving them some money is also a good choice.”
E选项“Third, let the person know you’ve clearly understood your mistake.”
70.上文总结道歉是表达遗憾的方式,A选项“It is also a good chance to correct your mistake.” 同时“also”与上文“a way to show”形成递进关系。
