As students, we all know the importance of the school rules. But some rules are strange. Here are two strange school rules. Do you think they are meaningful?
No red ink: Teachers usually mark our homework with red ink. The bright colour is used to point out all our mistakes. However, many schools mustn’t use red ink in Australia and the UK. Some people think that red ink can make kids nervous and anxious (焦虑的) because the colour puts pressure (压力) on them. They think green, pink, yellow, purple and blue are more relaxing.
No hand-raising: It’s usual for students to raise their hands in class to answer the teacher’s questions in China. However, the raising of one’s hand has been banned (被禁止) in a school in Nottinghamshire, England. The head teacher of the school believes that teachers always only see the same students raising their hands. This does not encourage the learning of the other students in the class. Now, with the “no hand-raising” rule, a teacher can choose any student to answer the question.
In a word, it’s useful to help us become a better person by following the school rules. So we should show respect for them, even though some of the school rules sound a little strange.
