Here are some programmes you can choose from. High School Exchange Individuals studying for a semester or full year in Australia will usually live with a host family. This is a great opportunity for students to see what daily family life is like in Australia. Students learning English will see their language skills improve by communicating with their new friends and host family, while those familiar with the language already can use this opportunity to learn more about the day-to-day life in Australia. Youth Travel Tours Travel tours for teens are a wonderful way for high school students to spend a short, concentrated amount of time abroad. Tours are usually for different themes such as cooking, adventure travel, or volunteerism. Students will have a fun, unique experience while incorporating educational components like environmental or cultural studies — and all without missing your normal coursework back home. Summer Study Programme For students who only have a few months of the summer break available, an advanced summer programme is perfect. Just keep in mind, the summer of the northern hemisphere (半球) is actually the winter of Australia. Oftentimes these summer programmes can be partnered with universities that will allow students to receive college credits. 1. What can High School Exchange offer? A. A precious chance to make friends from different countries. 2. Who may want to choose Youth Travel Tours? A. Those who have ever been volunteers. B. Those who are interested in cooking. C. Those who like doing adventure sports. D. Those who want to take a part-time job. 3. Which programme should you choose if you want to earn college credits? A. Summer Study Programme. B. In my teen years, he taught me things I’d need to know to survive in the real world: how to drive a stick shift, how to check the car tyre’s (轮胎) pressure, and the correct knife to use to cut a cantaloupe. When I moved out on my own, I called him at least once a week, usually when something broke in my apartment and I needed to know how to fix it: the toilet, the air-conditioning, the wall, once, when I threw a shoe at a terrifying spider. But then, eventually, I needed him less. I got married, and my husband had most of the knowledge I lacked about gutter (排水沟) cleaning and water heaters and nondestructive insect removal. For everything else, we had Google. I didn’t know when it happened, but our conversations turned into six words when I called. Me: “Hi, Dad.” Him: “Hi, sweet. Here’s Mom.” I loved my dad, of course, but I wondered at times if maybe he had already shared everything I needed to know. Maybe I’d heard all his stories. Maybe, after knowing a man for 40 years, there’s nothing left to say. Then, two summers ago, my husband, our four kids and I moved in with my parents for three weeks while our house was being painted. They owned a lake house, and my dad asked me to help him rebuild the bulkhead (舱壁). It was a hard and manual job. We got wet and sandy. But as we put the new bulkhead together piece by piece, my dad knew exactly what went where. I looked at him, “How do you know how to build a bulkhead?” “I spent a summer in college building it on the Jersey Shore.” “You did?” I thought I knew everything about my dad, but I never knew this. I realized that maybe it’s not that there’s nothing left to say. Maybe it’s just that I’ve spent my life asking him the wrong questions. That day, my dad talked about what he had learned and what he could do excitedly. We chatted and chatted for a long time. A few weeks later, after my family and I moved back into our painted house, I called my parents. “Hi, sweets,” he said. “Here’s Mom.” “Wait, Dad,” I said. “How are you?” We ended up talking about everything he was working on. To anyone else, it would sound like a normal conversation between a dad and his daughter. But to me, it was novel and a new beginning. I spent the first part of my life needing to talk to my dad. Now I talk to him because I want to. 4. Why did the author feel that she needed to call her dad before she got married? A. She called to make sure he was pleased. B. She wanted to talk to him for knowledge. C. She knew her parents missed her so much. D. She was asked to call him once a week. 5. Why hadn’t the author got something to talk with her father before she moved back to be with him? A. Her father was old and he didn’t keep up with the world. B. Her father always thought he was right in everything. C. She didn’t have more to learn from him than she thought. D. She spent her younger ages asking him too many questions. 6. What does the father’s answer “Hi, sweet. Here’s Mom.” mean? A. The author’s mother is answering the phone. B. The author’s mother knows what has happened. C. He will give the phone to the author’s mother. D. He finds the author’s mother sweet and kind. 7. Which of the following words best describe the father? A. Creative and faithful. B. Selfless and brave. C. Inspiring and generous. D. Loving and experienced. C For a vast majority of us, our smartphones are the lifeline. If it is lost, a lot is unachievable, such as getting guided to work and ordering coffee. This sounds like a nightmare (噩梦). But it should not be exactly far-fetched. Despite being more digitally connected than ever, we are lonelier and more anxious. Anxiety rates increased by 25% globally. Depression now affects over 280 million people worldwide. All of this arises from our growing dependence on social media and smart technologies designed to offer quick relief but often at the expense of deep, meaningful activities. While these conveniences offer short-term relief, they may weaken our thinking skills. For example, GPS has undeniably transformed the way we travel. But a 2020 study found that frequent GPS users struggle more with self-guided exploration. Over time, those who relied more on GPS showed a sharp decrease in spatial memory and problem-handling skills. However, reducing dependence on these conveniences can result in discomfort. In seeking comfort today, we might be trading away some discomfort. That is the problem: the very discomfort we avoid is often what strengthens us. Regarding stress, a kind of discomfort, as a challenge rather than a threat leads to better outcomes. Research shows that mild stress can improve adaptability. Neuroscience (神经科学) reveals that neuroplasticity — the brain’s ability to form new connections — is sharpened through challenging experiences. This adaptability counts for developing resilience (抗逆力), a process fueled by both mental challenges and active effort. But this doesn’t mean we should abandon comfort entirely; it’s to balance it with intentional discomfort. Think of it as small and manageable difficulties that keep our mental and emotional muscles strong, such as writing with a pen, or washing dishes by hand. These small acts are enough to reawaken the resilience we’ve buried under layers of ease. So, the next time you feel the pull of ease, pause. Ask yourself: Is this momentary comfort helping me grow or is it keeping me stuck? Choosing discomfort isn’t easy, but sometimes, it’s worth it. 8. What does the underlined word “far-fetched” in Paragraph 1 probably mean? A. Likely to change. B. Certain to function. C. Unable to relate to. D. Easy to appear. 9. What may digital conveniences cause according to the text? A. The loss of thinking ability. B. The meaningful involvement. C. The lack of necessary comfort. D. The fast but insignificant relief. 10. Which is a real-life application of intentional discomfort? A. Exploring a city by using GPS. B. Taking the stairs instead of the lift. C. Writing an email using voice-to-text. D. Ordering take-out food after work. 11. What is the purpose of the text? A. To persuade readers to buy good smartphones. B. To encourage readers to accept discomfort. C. To urge readers to employ smart technologies. D. To remind readers to think creatively. D Recycling is a great way of doing your bit for the environment and helping to protect the earth’s precious resources. However, a new study has revealed that our desire to be sustainable maybe doing more harm than good. According to waste company Biffa, this is because of “wish-cycling” — assuming that items such as disposable coffee cup sand pizza boxes will be recycled if put in the recycling bin. In fact, pollution from those items or other non-recyclables can result in recyclable items that have been put in the correct bin going to landfill. David Heaton, a business director at Biffa, said: “Pollution happens when items are disposed of in the wrong bins or haven’t been cleaned before being recycled.” Experts at Biffa analyzed the amounts of non-target and non-recyclable materials that entered UK material recycling facilities between 2016 and 2020. It was found that, in 2016, the average pollution rate of recycling waste was 13.4 percent, rising over four years to 17 percent by the end of 2020. This shows that, even as people are becoming more eco-conscious, wish-cycling is increasing both in households and businesses. The Biffa experts say that one of the best ways to prevent pollution of recycling is to clean recyclable waste before putting it in the bin. They suggest cutting off the top of old pizza boxes and only recycling that part to avoid pollution from the grease (油脂). Check the on-packaging recycling label to check it can actually be recycled When it comes to plastics, Biffa recommends checking the resin code, the number in the plastic triangle, to know whether it should go in the recycling bin. In general, resin codes 1, 2, 4 and 5 are recyclable, while 3, 6 and 7 are not. Larger items, like electronics, furniture and batteries, can also be recycled but often can not go in household recycling bins as they need specialist separating. These will need to be taken to recycling centers or sustainable waste management companies. “It’s vital as a nation that we get better at effective ‘pre-cycling’— sorting waste correctly before collection to reduce pollution rates,” added Mr. Heaton. 12. What’s the truth of “wish-cycling” according to the first paragraph? A. The desire to lead a sustainable life. B. The good intention to help recycling. C. The habit of throwing items that end up in landfills. D. The practice of recycling items that can not be recycled. 13. What has experts at Biffa concluded after their analysis? A. People are becoming more eco-conscious. B. Wish-cycling is on the rise in recent years. C. Pollution happens less frequently in recycling facilities. D. People are used to cleaning recyclable waste before putting it in the bin. 14. Which of the following is a proper way of recycling? A. Dispose of electronics together with household waste. B. Skip the step of checking the on-packaging recycling label. C. Check the resin code of plastics to see whether it is recyclable or not. D. Cutoff the top of old pizza box and throw the rest to the recycling bin. 15. Which is the most suitable title for the text? A. Recycling: a Big Project B. Wish-cycling: a New Trend C. Wish-cycling: a Growing Concern D. Pre-cycling: an Effective Method What makes sports stars so good at what they do? How can a violinist effortlessly perform a challenging piece without looking at the music? ____16____ More specifically, it can be termed “overlearning”. Overlearning happens when you practice or study something even after you’ve already mastered it. ____17____ However, it doesn’t always stay there. If that skill or information isn’t used again soon after, the brain will clear it away. This is a big challenge not only for teachers and trainers but also for learners. Some factors can help keep the learning in place. ____18____ Interaction (互动) is necessary. If the process makes the learner laugh or struggle, or it requires additional help, it is less likely to be forgotten. Besides, when the information is revisited regularly, the brain recognizes its importance. But how can we keep revisiting the same points in training practices without becoming bored? That’s where overlearning is important. Skills and knowledge should be revisited in different ways. For example, in tennis, serving (发球) is extremely important, and there are seven steps in achieving a perfect serve. Coaches will get players to practice each of those seven stages repeatedly. ____19____The learning goal remains the same; it's the method that changes. While overlearning has its advantages, it can also create a false sense of mastery. If you’ve practised something over and over again, you can certainly be highly fluent (流畅的). But it’s easy to confuse fluency and understanding. For instance, there’s a big difference between knowing all the features of a product and effectively using those features to make a sale. ____20____ A. Testing is good for active learning. B. The answer lies in learning through repetition. C. Students benefit from overlearning difficult texts. D. To prevent boredom, they'll introduce various ways. E. Applying knowledge is just as important as storing it. F. Primarily, information should be learned in an active way. G. Newly learned information remains in our brain for a while. We live in a world increasingly controlled by science. I often wished he wasn’t so perfect because it made me feel like I had to work twice as hard just to prove myself to others. On the one hand, his success was a challenge that I enjoyed, but on the other hand, it was a huge amount of pressure that I struggled to cope with. To balance his record in high school, I felt like I was constantly running on a treadmill (跑步机), devoting every moment to a non-stop race. There was no room for relaxation as I pursued that perfect record. My life seemed to be compressed into a series of endless tasks and deadlines. “I needed an A,” I repeated to myself before the biology test, so that I would maintain my perfect record and secure a place on the honor roll. I studied till the last minute of lunch and rushed to class. I felt a sense of confidence as I glanced over the first page of the test, quickly filling in the answers with a smile. However, as I turned to the last page, my mind went blank. Time ticked by, and soon, the classroom began to empty as students finished their tests and left, except me. “Lara, class ended. I need you to hand in your test,” Mrs. Phloem said, stretching out her hand. Unwillingly, I handed her the test paper. The next day, I received my test back. I stared at the red mark in shock: 76. Not even a B minus, my mind screamed. Just average. It’s over. No perfect record. I felt an unprecedented (前所未有的) sense of frustration and disappointment. After school, I dragged my heavy feet back home. When I pushed open the door, Jack was sitting on the couch, reading. Seeing his leisurely state, I cried, hard to contain the jealousy (妒忌) and sadness in my heart. Jack immediately noticed the depression on my face. He asked with concern, “What’s wrong, Lara?” Blinded by frustration mixed with a touch of jealousy, I shouted at him, “How I wish you were not so perfect!” With a touch of hurt and surprise in his eyes, Jack gently approached me. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ His words blew my depression away and changed my mindset (心态). ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 大连市第一中学2025—2026学年度下学期高一期中考试 英语 试卷 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。 1. Youth Travel Tours. C. High School Exchange. D. All of the programmes. B 2. B 3. 根据“High School Exchange”部分中“Students learning English will see their language skills improve by communicating with their new friends and host family, while those familiar with the language already can use this opportunity to learn more about the day-to-day life in Australia.(学习英语的学生通过与新朋友和寄宿家庭交流,语言能力会得到提高,而那些已经熟悉这门语言的学生则可以利用这个机会更多地了解澳大利亚的日常生活。)” 根据“Youth Travel Tours”部分中“Tours are usually for different themes such as cooking, adventure travel, or volunteerism.(旅行团通常有不同的主题,如烹饪、探险旅行或志愿服务。)” 根据“Summer Study Programme”部分中“Oftentimes these summer programmes can be partnered with universities that will allow students to receive college credits.(通常这些夏季项目会与大学合作,让学生获得大学学分。)” A。 B Growing up, I understood one thing about my dad: He knew everything. B 5. C 6. C 7. 根据第二段中的“When I moved out on my own, I called him at least once a week, usually when something broke in my apartment and I needed to know how to fix it: the toilet, the air-conditioning, the wall, once, when I threw a shoe at a terrifying spider.(当我自己搬出去的时候,我每周至少给他打一次电话,通常是在我的公寓里有什么东西坏了,我需要知道如何修理的时候:厕所、空调、墙壁;还有一次,我向一只可怕的蜘蛛扔了一只鞋。)” 根据倒数第三段中的“I loved my dad, of course, but I wondered at times if maybe he had already shared everything I needed to know. Maybe I’d heard all his stories. Maybe, after knowing a man for 40 years, there’s nothing left to say.(当然,我爱我的父亲,但我有时会想,也许他已经把我需要知道的一切都告诉了我。也许我听过他所有的故事。也许,在认识一个男人40年之后,就没什么可说的了。)”可知,作者觉得自己知道了需要知道的,认识父亲40年也没有什么要说的了,由此可知在作者再次搬回父母家里居住前,她觉得与父亲没什么可说的原因是作者认为可向父亲学习的东西不多了。故选C。 【6题详解】 词句猜测题。根据最后一段的“A few weeks later, after my family and I moved back into our painted house, I called my parents. “Hi, sweets,” he said. “Here’s Mom.” “Wait, Dad,” I said. “How are you?” We ended up talking about everything he was working on.(几个星期后,我和家人搬回粉刷过的房子后,我给父母打了电话。“嗨,甜心,”他说。“这是妈妈。“等等,爸爸,”我说。“你好吗?”我们聊了聊他正在做的事情。)”可知,作者在父母居住几周回去后,打电话时父亲说“你妈妈来了”,要把电话交给妈妈,但这次作者阻止了他,想与他继续交流,由此可知,划线部分的意思应为“把电话交给你的母亲”。故选C。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一段“In my teen years, he taught me things I’d need to know to survive in the real world: how to drive a stick shift, how to check the car tyre’s (轮胎) pressure, and the correct knife to use to cut a cantaloupe.(在我十几岁的时候,他教会了我在现实世界中生存所需要知道的事情:如何驾驶手动挡,如何检查汽车轮胎的压力,以及如何用正确的刀切哈密瓜。)”可知,作者的爸爸很有经验,且教会作者这么多生活技能,这是父亲爱子女的表现,因此用loving(充满爱的)和experienced(有经验的)来描述作者的父亲。故选D。 C For a vast majority of us, our smartphones are the lifeline. 【答案】8. C 9. A 10. B 11. B 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇议论文。文章论述了过度依赖数字便利存在问题,鼓励读者接受不适。 【8题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第一段中“For a vast majority of us, our smartphones are the lifeline. If it is lost, a lot is unachievable, such as getting guided to work and ordering coffee. This sounds like a nightmare (噩梦). 根据第二段中“All of this arises from our growing dependence on social media and smart technologies designed to offer quick relief but often at the expense of deep, meaningful activities. (所有这一切都源于我们对社交媒体和智能技术的日益依赖,这些技术旨在提供快速的缓解,但往往是以牺牲深层次的、有意义的活动为代价的。)”以及第三段中“While these conveniences offer short-term relief, they may weaken our thinking skills. (虽然这些便利提供了短期的缓解,但它们可能会削弱我们的思维能力)”可知,数字便利虽然能带来短期便利,但可能会削弱我们的思维能力,即导致思考能力的丧失。故选A。 【10题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“But this doesn’t mean we should abandon comfort entirely; it’s to balance it with intentional discomfort. Think of it as small and manageable difficulties that keep our mental and emotional muscles strong, such as writing with a pen, or washing dishes by hand.” 根据文章内容,尤其是最后一段中“So, the next time you feel the pull of ease, pause. Ask yourself: Is this momentary comfort helping me grow or is it keeping me stuck? Choosing discomfort isn’t easy, but sometimes, it’s worth it. (所以,下次当你感到安逸的诱惑时,请暂停一下。问问自己:这种暂时的舒适是在帮助我成长,还是让我停滞不前?选择不适并不容易,但有时,它是值得的)”可知,文章通过讨论智能手机和数字技术对人们生活的影响,强调了适度接受不适的重要性,鼓励读者在追求舒适的同时,也要勇于面对和接受不适,以促进个人成长和抗逆力的提升。故选B。 D Recycling is a great way of doing your bit for the environment and helping to protect the earth’s precious resources. Pre-cycling: an Effective Method 【答案】12. B 13. B 14. C 15. 根据第一段中“However, a new study has revealed that our desire to be sustainable maybe doing more harm than good.(然而,一项新的研究表明,我们对可持续发展的渴望可能弊大于利)”和“this is because of “wish-cycling” — assuming that items such as disposable coffee cup sand pizza boxes will be recycled if put in the recycling bin. (这是因为“希望循环”——认为一次性咖啡杯和比萨饼盒等物品如果放入回收箱就会被回收)”可知,“希望循环”的真相是人们认为把垃圾扔进回收箱就会被回收。由此可推知,这是一种帮助回收利用的好意。故选B。 【13题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中“This shows that, even as people are becoming more eco-conscious, wish-cycling is increasing both in households and businesses.(这表明,尽管人们越来越注重环保,但在家庭和企业中,“希望循环”的数量都在增加)”可知,近年来,“希望循环”的数量正在不断增加。 根据第三段中“When it comes to plastics, Biffa recommends checking the resin code, the number in the plastic triangle, to know whether it should go in the recycling bin. (当谈到塑料时,Biffa建议检查树脂代码,即塑料三角形中的数字,以了解它是否应该放入回收箱)”可知,检查塑料的树脂代码,看看它是否可回收,这是合适的回收方法,故选C。 【15题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段中“However, a new study has revealed that our desire to be sustainable maybe doing more harm than good. What makes sports stars so good at what they do? B 17. G 18. F 19. D 20. 【16题详解】 根据上文“What makes sports stars so good at what they do? How can a violinist effortlessly perform a challenging piece without looking at the music?(是什么让体育明星如此擅长他们所从事的运动呢?小提琴手又如何能不看乐谱就轻松演奏一首极具挑战性的乐曲呢?)”可知,上文提出了两个问题。而空后“More specifically, it can be termed “overlearning”.(更确切地说,这可以被称为“过度学习”。)” B“The answer lies in learning through repetition.(答案在于通过重复学习。)” 【17题详解】 下文“However, it doesn’t always stay there. If that skill or information isn’t used again soon after, the brain will clear it away.(然而,它不会一直停留在那里。如果这项技能或知识在不久之后没有再次被运用,大脑就会将其清除。)”中的“it”和“that skill or information”都指代前文提到的内容。选项G“Newly learned information remains in our brain for a while.(新学的知识会在我们的大脑中停留一段时间。)” 【18题详解】 根据上文“Some factors can help keep the learning in place.(有一些因素有助于将所学的知识巩固下来。)” If the process makes the learner laugh or struggle, or it requires additional help, it is less likely to be forgotten.(互动是必不可少的。如果学习过程能让学习者欢笑或费些心思,又或者需要额外的帮助,那么所学内容就不太容易被遗忘。)”则强调了互动这种积极学习方式的重要性。选项F“Primarily, information should be learned in an active way.(首先,信息应该以积极的方式来学习。)” 【19题详解】 根据上文“But how can we keep revisiting the same points in training practices without becoming bored? That’s where overlearning is important. Skills and knowledge should be revisited in different ways. For example, in tennis, serving (发球) is extremely important, and there are seven steps in achieving a perfect serve. Coaches will get players to practice each of those seven stages repeatedly.(但是,我们要如何在训练中不断复习相同的要点,同时又不会感到厌烦呢?这就是过度学习的重要之处了。应该以不同的方式复习技能和知识。例如,在网球运动中,发球极其重要,而要实现一次完美的发球有七个步骤。教练会让球员反复练习这七个步骤中的每一个。)”可知,上文提到如何在训练中不断复习相同的要点,同时又不会感到厌烦。选项D“To prevent boredom, they'll introduce various ways.(为了避免厌烦情绪,他们会采用各种各样的方法。)” 【20题详解】 根据上文“While overlearning has its advantages, it can also create a false sense of mastery. If you’ve practised something over and over again, you can certainly be highly fluent (流畅的). But it’s easy to confuse fluency and understanding. For instance, there’s a big difference between knowing all the features of a product and effectively using those features to make a sale.(尽管过度学习有其优点,但它也可能会让人产生一种对知识掌握程度的错觉。如果你一遍又一遍地练习某件事,你肯定能做到非常熟练。但人们很容易将熟练和理解混为一谈。比如说,了解一个产品的所有特性与有效地运用这些特性来促成销售之间存在着很大的差别。)”可知,上文提到过度学习可能导致对掌握的错觉,比如知道产品功能和使用它们做销售的区别。所以这里应强调应用知识的重要性。选项E“Applying knowledge is just as important as storing it.(应用知识和储存知识同样重要。)” We live in a world increasingly controlled by science. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文 With a touch of hurt and surprise in his eyes, Jack gently approached me. He placed a hand on my shoulder, and asked me again what had happened. I took out my test paper and told him that I would never match up to him in a choked voice. Jack’s smile grew warmer, and he gave my shoulder a reassuring squeeze. “You don’t have to measure up to anyone and your worth isn’t defined by grades or achievements. You’re more than just a number on a test. Remember to be yourself.” His words blew my depression away and changed my mindset. I was still engaged in endless tasks and deadlines, but I no longer felt fenced in by my brother’s shadow. Realizing that comparison is the thief of joy, I strove for excellence instead of perfection, which is often unattainable and can lead to burnout. I felt a weight lifted off my shoulders as I realized that my value wasn’t tied to a single test score. I felt more confident and less overwhelmed as I know that believing in doing my best will always be the ultimate best score. 词汇激活 行为类 ①询问:ask/inquire ②告诉:tell/inform ③意识到:realize/be aware of 情绪类 ①快乐:joy/delight ②精疲力竭:burnout/exhaustion 【点睛】[高分句型1] Realizing that comparison is the thief of joy, I strove for excellence instead of perfection, which is often unattainable and can lead to burnout. (由现在分词realizing作状语,that引导的宾语从句和which引导的非限制性定语从句) [高分句型2] I felt more confident and less overwhelmed as I know that believing in doing my best will always be the ultimate best score.(由as引导的时间状语从句,that引导的宾语从句和动名词believing作主语) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
