Every morning, we taught them English and told them stories about the outside world. A little girl named Lily 18 very shy at first. She never spoke in class. One day, I gave her a picture book about friendship. After reading it, she came to me and said softly, “Thank you. This is the best gift I’ve ever got.” Her words 19 my heart.
We also helped them repair their school desks and plant trees around the village. On our last day, the children prepared (准备) a simple performance (表演) for us. They sang a song about love and hope. When the song ended, everyone was in tears. We 20 addresses (地址) and promised (承诺) to write to each other.
On my way back home, I kept thinking about the trip. Before that, I always thought happiness came from new toys or delicious food. But now I know: happiness springs from 21 others. The more we give, the happier we feel. Those children taught me to be 22 for what I have. They had little, 23 they were always positive and grateful (感激的).
This trip is one of the most valuable (珍贵的) 24 in my life. It made me understand the true 25 of happiness. Love and kindness are the keys to a happy life. I decide to keep doing volunteer work. I want to “grow happiness” as Zhou Jian did in the textbook.

结合后文“The children lived in small houses with broken windows, and most of them didn’t have enough books or stationery”,孩子们的生活环境超出作者预期,surprised “惊讶的” 符合语境。

结合前文作者参加志愿者活动帮助山村孩子的经历,以及后文“The more we give, the happier we feel”,可知幸福来自帮助他人,helping“帮助”符合主旨。
结合后文“They had little…they were always positive and grateful”,孩子们拥有的很少却依然感恩,这让作者学会感恩自己的拥有,thankful“感恩的”符合语境。
结合前文“Last summer vacation, I had a meaningful experience”,此处指代这次志愿者旅行,experiences“经历”符合语境。

In May, 2023, Joy Kochar and 10 other students got together in Columbus Park, New York City. They set up a table with lemonade, cookies, and origami figures (折纸作品) for sale. They were hoping to raise money for their school to solve a big problem: many spotted lanternflies (斑点灯箩蝇) had recently appeared in the area.
They wanted to raise $200. That was the cost of the tools the kids needed to catch spotted lanternflies. They only made about $75. So they decided to hold more activities to collect money.
Since 2014, spotted lanternflies have been seen across the eastern United States. They are harmful to many plants. State officials have encouraged people to kill spotted lanternflies.
Joy saw many spotted lanternflies in her school playground. She decided to do something, so she started a club called Squash. Its goal is to kill spotted lanternflies around the school. More than 20 students have joined.
Joy did some research and found a plant named milkweed (马利筋). It is good food for some insects but it is toxic to spotted lanternflies. Joy thought using milkweed would be a better way to kill spotted lanternflies.
Finally, their effort paid off. They raised $197 in all. That was enough to buy milkweed.
“The effort would not have been a success without teamwork. I learned that two minds are better than one,” Joy says.

37.Which of the following is the correct order of the events?

【答案】36.D 37.A 38.B 39.B 40.C
36.第一段指出他们卖东西的目的是:“raise money for their school to solve a big problem: many spotted lanternflies had recently appeared in the area.”,说明是为了筹集资金消灭斑点灯箩蝇。
37.故事发展顺序为:第一段指出斑点灯箩蝇出现在学校:“many spotted lanternflies had recently appeared in the area.”(d)→第四段指出成立Squash俱乐部:“she started a club called Squash”(a)→第一段指出在公园卖柠檬水:“They set up a table with lemonade...for sale”(b)→第六段指出成功买到马利筋:“That was enough to buy milkweed”(c),因此正确顺序为d-a-b-c。

When you want to ask your teacher a question during class, what do you do? Do you simply shout out your question as soon as it enters your mind? Or do you raise your hand and wait until the teacher calls your name?
If you politely raise your hand first, it’s probably because your teacher has a rule that regulates (规定) what you are allowed to do when you have a question. Can you imagine what it would be like if everyone can simply talk whenever they want during class? Instead of a peaceful learning environment, a classroom without rules would be chaotic (混乱的)!
When you learn to drive, you’ll realize how many rules you have to follow. The rules for driving share a common purpose with many rules you must follow in your daily life to keep you safe. As an ancient Chinese saying goes, “Without rules, nothing can be done.” If you make a list of the rules you follow each day, you will quickly realize how many of them can keep you safe and make your life more enjoyable as a result.
Although sometimes you feel like a rule is unfair, don’t break it. Instead, decide what you can do to change the rule. Working within the rules to change the rules is what you need to do.
41.How does the writer start the passage?
A.By giving examples. B.By describing a situation.
C.By asking some questions. D.By providing some materials.
42.To keep order in the classroom, what can teachers do according to Paragraph 2?
A.Change some unjust rules. B.Set some rules in advance (提前).
C.Punish students who break the rules. D.Teach students how to make rules.
43.What does the underlined sentence in Paragraph 3 mean in Chinese?
44.What does the writer suggest we do when facing a rule we think is unfair?
A.Break it directly. B.Discuss it with our teacher.
C.Work to change it in a proper way. D.Refuse to follow it until it is changed.
45.What is the passage mainly about?
A.The ways of making fair rules. B.The importance of rules.
C.The results of following the rules. D.The main purpose of rules for driving.

46.前文说“Ben, brush your teeth before breakfast!”,后文说“All day long, parents and teachers keep telling Ben what to do and what not to do.”,这提示开篇连续展示了两条大人对Ben的指令。 从后文Ben深夜抱怨的“Don’t do this, and don’t do that!”
47.根据后文Ben躺在床上抱怨“Don’t do this, and don’t do that! They’re awful!”
48.根据前文“The classroom is noisy…the teachers don’t say anything.”
49.根据前文“But people talk a lot and walk here and there.”

Some old people came in need of help, smartphones in hand. The scouts in Virginia, the US, held “TechBridge” to help local seniors learn how to use their smartphones.
Many people’s problems 63 (large) came from the development of technology. Some of their habits dated 64 an age before smartphones even existed (存在). That’s why they found modern apps and settings so difficult to understand.
65 (help) local old people learn how to use their smartphones was a very good choice. “Some people had 66 (they) own questions about smartphones, but most people came and just wanted to learn,” Maura Sammis said. “I set up the activity for an old couple and they were really excited about it.” Her partner, Sarah Middleton, said, “I was teaching this elderly woman how to text people, and 67 first thing that she did was text her daughter. I thought that was really sweet, and seeing her joy brought me so much 68 (happy).”
According to research, 83 percent of the Americans aged 50 to 64 own smartphones. Among them 69 (be) Sammis’ grandmother, whom Sammis helped use a smartphone. It turned out to be great preparation for the activity. “If they don’t understand all the information, we 70 (speak) very slowly,” Sammis said.

On March 5,2026, Shenzhen started the “Woodpecker Action” (啄木鸟行动). Why is it called “woodpecker”? Just as a woodpecker pecks at trees to find insects, these “city woodpeckers” look for mistakes on public signs (标牌). The action asks volunteers and citizens to become “city woodpeckers”. Their job is to go around the city and check public signs in different languages. They look at metro posters, city maps, street signs, directional guides, and even bus stop boards.
