A long time ago, there lived two woodcutters called Barry and Kent in a village. Every morning, they went to the forest and cut wood to sell at a nearby market.
One hot day, when they were eating their lunch, a beggar (乞丐) walked up to them.
“My name is Clark, and I’m very hungry,” said the beggar, “Can you spare a little of your lunch for me?”
Barry felt great pity for Clark, and he took from his bag some food that he kept for later, and wanted to give it to the poor man. But to his surprise, Kent, who was a kind man too, stopped him from offering the food.
Kent said to Clark, “We both work all day long and we only have enough food for a day. But if you wish, I can lend you my ax (斧子), which you can use. And you will have a good chance of buying yourself food.”
Clark looked a bit unhappy because he looked forward to the food. But after a second thought, he took Kent’s ax, and then watched carefully as Kent explained how to cut wood. Clark was slow at first, but hours later, he began to cut more quickly.
At the end of the day, the three men together sold out all of the wood they had cut.
“It’s amazing! I have never had so much money in my life!” Clark said with excitement.

Ever felt stuck on a math problem, only to solve it after a walk? That’s your brain taking a “break” and scientists say it’s more important than you think.
When we focus (集中) hard, our brains use a lot of energy. After 45-60 minutes, they start to feel tired, making it harder to concentrate Taking short breaks, called “mental rests”, lets them get their energy back. But not all breaks work the same: looking at your phone doesn’t count. Why? Because screens keep your brain active, filling it with new information and stopping it from relaxing.
So what works? Moving your body: a quick jog, simple body moves or even just walking around the classroom. Nature helps too—studies show looking at trees or grass for 5 minutes boosts focus by 15%. Another good choice? Daydreaming. Letting your mind rest can spark (激发) creativity, like when a writer gets ideas for a story while looking out of the window.
Timing (时机) matters too. Experts suggest the “50-5 rule”: work for 50 minutes, then rest for 5. Next time you’re stuck, try this: set a time clock for 5 minutes, step outside, and listen to birds. You might be surprised how much clearer your brain feels when you get back to work— ready to deal with that problem with fresh energy.
31. Why does the writer mention the math problem at the beginning of the passage?
A. To share a surprising study result.
B. To draw readers’ attention to the topic.
C. To explain how to solve difficult math problems.
32. How can daydreaming help?
A. It makes us forget difficult tasks.
B. It can increase creativity.
C. It improves math skills.
33. Which best explains the underlined word “boosts” in Paragraph 3?
A. to increase or improve something.
B. to make someone feel happier or more confident.
C. to push someone up with your hands.
34. What can we infer (推断) from the “50-5 rule” in Paragraph 4?
A. Students should rest for 5 minutes every hour.
B. The longer the break, the better the brain works.
C. Working non-stop can lead to bad study results.
35. What’s the main idea of this article?
A. The ways to take good study breaks.
B. The ways to protect our brains.
C. The ways to get fresh energy.

Jasmine (茉莉), with its sweet smell and white flowers, is loved worldwide. It came to China a long time ago and became part of Chinese culture.
In Chinese, “jasmine” sounds like “no profit (利润)”. In Chinese culture, it means modesty It tells people not to care too much about money. It also has the meaning of purity (纯洁). A famous Chinese song “Jasmine Flower” shows its beauty. It is often the first Chinese song that many foreigners learn.
Jasmine grows widely in China, mainly in Hengzhou, Guangxi. This area produces 60% of the world’s jasmine, so it is called the “Jasmine Capital of China”. Farmers there now use AI robots to help with their work. The robots check if the plants are sick by examining the leaves. If there’s a problem, farmers can know it and solve it in time. AI tools study the weather and tell farmers the best time to water the plants. This makes sure the flowers stay healthy and grow fast.
And then Kent took Clark to a shop and helped him choose an ax.
“Thank you for everything you did for me,” Clark said to Kent and walked away happily.
26. Barry and Kent cut wood and sold it at a market nearby every day.
27. Barry wanted to help Clark and gave the poor man food that he kept for later.
28. Kent refused to offer the food simply to the beggar because of his unkindness.
29. With the two woodcutters guiding him, Clark managed to cut wood quickly.
30. From this story, we learn we’d better teach people skills rather than offer help directly.

根据第一段“Every morning, they went to the forest and cut wood to sell at a nearby market.”
根据第四段“But to his surprise, Kent, who was a kind man too, stopped him from offering the food.”
根据第五段“We both work all day long and we only have enough food for a day. But if you wish, I can lend you my ax (斧子), which you can use. And you will have a good chance of buying yourself food.”
根据第六段“But after a second thought, he took Kent’s ax, and then watched carefully as Kent explained how to cut wood.”,只有Kent借给Clark斧头并教他砍柴,Barry并没有参与指导。
(C)
31. B 32. B 33. A 34. C 35. A
Letting your mind rest can spark (激发) creativity, like when a writer gets ideas for a story while looking out of the window.”
划线词“boosts”所在句“looking at trees or grass for 5 minutes boosts focus by 15%”意为“提升专注力15%”,因此“boosts”意为“增加或改善”。

Finally, jasmine flowers are picked gently by AI robots, sent to factories quickly by drones (无人机) and turned into jasmine tea. With smart technology, jasmine flowers bring people more profit.

第一空:原文开头“Pegasus 3 is more than just an exciting racing movie. It is a touching story…” 题目中“the spirit of never...up”需要填入动词的适当形式。介词of后面应接动名词,never give up意为“永不放弃”,因此填giving。
题目中“with a lot of...”对应原文第二段第一句“with lots of experience”。a lot of与lots of 意思相同,后面都接不可数名词。
第一空:原文第二段提到“He and his team must face difficulties”,题目中Zhang Chi with his team是主语,后面接“... to face difficulties”,题目中的结构表明这里是“have to”表示“不得不”的用法。主语“Zhang Chi with his team”整体视为第三人称单数,因此用has。第二空:题目中difficulties and...coming from modern technology对应原文第二段中的“challenges from modern technology”。
题目中“The film’s...meaning”对应原文第二段“the film’s deep meaning”。
原文最后一段说“It is a really valuable film for people of all ages to see”,“The film is well ...watching”考查固定句型be worth doing,意为“值得做某事”。
