①Have you ever hugged (拥抱) a tree? Do you know hugging trees is good for us? Recently, many people have shared their stories of hugging trees online. Although it sounds unusual, there is a science behind the act of tree-hugging.
②A famous scientist once said that humans are born to love being around other living things. Humans’ love for nature is “in our DNA”. This idea helps to explain why people like natural, green views better than city views.
③Some studies have looked into why hugging trees can help with our health. A study shows that the act of tree-hugging can make the oxytocin (催产素) higher. If we get higher levels of oxytocin, we will feel calmer and happier. Hugging trees for only 21 seconds can help boost your oxytocin.
④Hugging trees is different from hugging people or animals. It gives us a chance to really get close to the tree. We can smell it, touch it and listen to the sound of the leaves. The steadiness (稳固) of the tree makes us feel safe.
⑤Although the activity is helpful to us, it’s important to keep in mind that we shouldn’t hurt nature while doing it. Trees often hold many things that are good for the environment. Many small animals live in the tree and they are too small to be seen. You may want to be gentle when hugging trees—just like how you hug a friend!

Night markets play an important role in the night-time economy (经济). “Night-time economy” can be dated from the 1970s in Britain. At present, our Chinese government has called on more companies and shops to prolong (延长) shopping hours to attract more shoppers.
New kinds of night markets have come up across the country when the sun sets down and you’ll feel like that the day begins. Some of the markets have regular (有规律的) opening times. But others have a pop-up style. They only show up sometimes at a certain period of time when some activities are organized. Bringing in the latest fashions of clothes or handicrafts, they have become very popular with young shoppers.
Xu Dongjie, a pet stall (小摊) owner at the market, said that the number of visitors there was much bigger than that at her pet shop. For her, being part of the market is also a way to network and make friends with pet lovers.
Many cities have also tried their own ways of night markets. The “Night Touring of Qinhuai” in Nanjing has strong local colour and has become a popular hot spot. In Chongqing, one night market is full of stalls set up in the trunks (后备箱) of cars. Shoppers enjoy the night market, and at the same time, it gives those who are trying to look for jobs more chances (机会) to make a living.
26. When and where did night-time economy begin?
A. At present in China. B. In the 1970s in Nanjing.
C. In the 1970s in the UK. D. At present in Britain.
27. According to the passage, what is probably a “pop-up style” shop like?
A. It opens at a regular time. B. It is usually run by young people.

28. Compared with (与……相比) her pet shop, Xu Dongjie’s pet stall ________.
A. has fewer visitors B. doesn’t have differences
C. is more popular D. helps people look for jobs
29. Which of the following can you learn about the night market?
a. It doesn’t help much with the economy. b. It can help jobless people make money.

【导语】本文主要介绍了夜市在“夜间经济”中的重要作用,以及中国新型夜市的发展现状和积极影响。
【26题详解】
根据文章第一段“‘Night-time economy’ can be dated from the 1970s in Britain.”可知,夜间经济起源于20世纪70年代的英国。

【29题详解】
文章最后一段提到“it gives those who are trying to look for jobs more chances to make a living.”,它为那些正在找工作的人提供了更多谋生的机会,所以b正确;文章最后一段提到“Shoppers enjoy the night market...”,且全文都在讲述夜市对摊主(如徐冬洁)的好处,所以d正确。

C. Because we can enjoy ourselves in nature.
D. Because we may hurt the living things in the trees.
