B
The ocean is full of very small animals. Some are as tiny as a grain (粒) of rice. These little animals spend most of their lives in the deep, dark parts of the ocean. New research shows that they are very important in protecting our planet against climate change.
Scientists from China, the UK, and Canada studied these animals in the Southern Ocean. They focused on three kinds of these animals that eat tiny plants near the ocean’s surface. These plants take in carbon dioxide (CO₂), a gas that makes the world warmer. But here is the key finding: in winter, the small animals swim down to about 500 meters below the surface. There, they breathe out the CO₂ from the plants they have eaten. This process, like a natural pump (泵), carries the gas down into the deep ocean.
Every year, this natural pump carries a lot of carbon—more than 70 million tons—to the deep ocean. It’s so deep that the CO₂ cannot return to the air quickly. ▲ Without these animals, the level of CO₂ in the air would be much higher.
So, these tiny sea animals are true “unknown heroes”. The study points out how crucial it is to protect the Southern Ocean. However, fishing activities there are putting some small sea animals in danger. We must be careful not to harm this natural pump.
31. Why does the writer mention “a grain of rice” in Paragraph 1?
A. To describe the animals’ color. B. To show how tiny the animals are.
C. To compare the animals’ shape. D. To explain why the animals live in the ocean.
32. What do the tiny sea animals do in winter?
A. B. C. D.
33. Which of the following can be put in “ ▲ ” in Paragraph 3?
A. So the ocean becomes polluted because of it.
B. However, human activities change the process.
C. So it slows down the process of the gas going into the air.
D. However, the process is slowed down because of climate change.
34. What does the underlined word “crucial” in Paragraph 4 probably mean?
A. Easy. B. Safe. C. Special. D. Important.
35. What is the best title for the passage?
A. The Danger to Ocean Animals B. The Secrets of the Southern Ocean
C. Unknown Heroes in the Ocean D. New Findings on the Southern Ocean
【答案】31. B 32. D 33. C 34. D 35. C
文章第1段“Some are as tiny as a grain of rice.”作者提到“一粒米”是为了形象地说明这些海洋动物的体型非常微小。
【32题详解】
文章第2段“in winter, the small animals swim down to about 500 meters below the surface...carries the gas down into the deep ocean.”表明这些动物在冬天会游向海面下约500米的深处。在那里,它们会将所摄食植物中储存的二氧化碳排出体外。D选项的图片描绘了动物向水下深处移动并排出气体的场景。
【33题详解】
文章第3段“It’s so deep that the CO₂ cannot return to the air quickly. ▲ Without these animals, the level of CO₂ in the air would be much higher.”
文章第4段“The study points out how crucial it is to protect the Southern Ocean.”

“Keep up! Ben,” called Amy, the group leader. As she waited for Ben, she also kept an eye on the other two as they walked through the Planet Earth. When Ben caught up, Amy got Kate and Emi and they continued with the rest of the class to enter the museum’s Meteor Maze.
Before they entered, Ben tapped Kate and pointed behind her. “Look,” he whispered. “The rock was named after my favourite band! Fantastic!”
Kate and Emi both turned around to look. Over there, on the wall, hung a huge poster of a famous rock band. The title read: When Science Meets Music-Exhibition Now Open in Age of Rock.
Amy turned to look too, but all she saw was a flood of visitors pouring out. Then she noticed the back of a boy’s head moving away from the group. When she looked back, the class was already making their way through the Meteor Maze. Amy quickly gathered the other two and said, “We’ve got to get Ben! Now stay close!”
They finally caught up with Ben as he was rounding the corner into the Coral Corridor. The four traced their steps, but when they returned, the Meteor Maze had already been closed for the day. A sign read: Last Tour 1 p.m.
“We’re too late!” sighed Emi.
“Let’s think about how we can find them,” said Amy calmly.
“Remember? Mrs. May said we would visit a rock collection next and leave at 2 p.m.,” said Kate.
“I know where they are!” Ben’s face lit up.
They hurried off toward the Age of Rock, where Ben thought the rock collection would be. However, when they arrived, a silence welcomed them.
“This is way too quiet for our class,” Emi worried.
“But we only have 20 minutes left,” said Ben, looking down.
“No worries!” Amy comforted.
“Look — a map!” cried Kate.
Amy and Emi quickly worked it out and the group hurried down the stairs. There, through the door, they could see a hall shining with crystals (水晶) and rocks.
“There they are!” Ben shouted.
Inside the Rocks and Minerals, their classmates were listening attentively. “These crystals start as tiny minerals in water or rocks,” the guide explained. “For millions of years, they joined as one, little by little, never letting go. Now they shine like frozen light, timeless and unbreakable...”
“Yeah,” Ben smiled, “I’ve just learnt that,” giving Amy a knowing look.
29. Why did Amy’s group get separated from their class?
A. They visited too many halls to catch up.
B. They lost their way looking for a poster.
C. They couldn’t get into the crowded hall.
D. They had to step away to bring Ben back.
30. At what time did the group most likely return to the Meteor Maze?
A. 12:45 p.m. B. 1:30 p.m. C. 1:40 p.m. D. 2:00 p.m.
31. What did the group find at the Age of Rock?
A. The hall was already closed for the day.
B. Ben’s favourite band wasn’t playing there.
C. Their classmates were not there in the hall.
D. There were no other visitors walking around.
32. How did Amy solve problems during the whole trip?
A. She let the others take the lead.
B. She got the group to work as one.
C. She pushed the group to be on time.
D. She reminded the others to ask for help.
【答案】29. D 30. B 31. C 32. B

Artificial intelligence (AI) is technology that allows computers and machines to learn and think like humans. Today, AI tools can carry out difficult tasks on their own, deciding what information they need and how to do things step by step. It’s no wonder AI is changing the way we live and learn.
What role should AI play in schoolwork? To help answer this question, we’ve invited several experts to share their views.
A recent study warns that using AI for schoolwork may weaken teenagers’ ability to think independently. Researchers watched brain activity during a writing task across three adult groups: AI users, search engine users, and independent thinkers. The AI users had the lowest level of brain activity. This is especially worrying for developing brains.
According to global research, the need for AI and big-data (数据) skills in the job market will jump by 87% over the next five years and spread across more areas. Getting an early start and keeping up with AI education are important to future careers. That’s why teenagers should take time to explore the latest AI tools. So perhaps using AI for schoolwork is not a yes-or-no question, but a how-to one.
Biology study shows that our brain has about 100 billion electrical connections, called neurons (神经元). They send and receive information from the body to help us understand our world. The brain grows new neurons when we learn and solve problems. Every time AI does schoolwork instead of us, our brain misses a chance to practise deep learning and build new connections. While we can ask AI to provide information, give advice or work with data, we should leave fact-checking, decision-making and creative tasks for ourselves.
Now we invite YOU to tell us what you
33. What is mainly discussed by the three experts in the passage?
A. Why do teenagers need AI education?
B. How is AI changing school education?
C. Can AI help develop teenagers’ brains?
D. Should teenagers use AI for schoolwork?
34. Why does Dr. Smith think the study is a warning for teenagers?
A. Their brains are still growing.
B. They cannot control their AI use.
C. They use AI more often than adults do.
D. Their brain activity was the lowest in the study.
35. According to Dr. Green, which is a proper way to use AI for an art project?
A. Collect facts about painting styles.
B. Decide which painting style to introduce.
C. Make sure the information is correct.
D. Design a poster on the chosen style.
36. What do the three experts all use to support their ideas?
A. Stories and reasons. B. Numbers and examples.
C. Findings from studies or research. D. Comparisons among different groups.
【答案】33. D 34. A 35. A 36. C
【解析】
【导语】本文围绕“青少年是否应该在学业中使用AI”这一话题,呈现了三位专家的观点。
【33题详解】
原文第2段提到“What role should AI play in schoolwork? To help answer this question, we’ve invited several experts to share their views”,说明三位专家讨论的核心问题是青少年是否应该在学业中使用AI。
【34题详解】
Dr. Smith提到“The AI users had the lowest level of brain activity. This is especially worrying for developing brains”,说明他认为这项研究对青少年来说是警告,因为他们的大脑还在发育中。
【35题详解】
Dr. Green提到“While we can ask AI to provide information, give advice or work with data, we should leave fact-checking, decision-making and creative tasks for ourselves”,因此在艺术项目中使用AI,收集绘画风格的事实信息是合适的做法。
(D)
How do you know you are you? Have you ever looked in a mirror and known the person looking back is you? That is self-awareness, a key sign of cleverness. Most animals, however, do not have this ability. A dog will most likely bark at its own reflection, and a cat may attack the mirror — both mistaking the image (镜像) for another animal. In one famous test, known as the “mirror test”, scientists painted two marks on an Asian elephant’s head. Mark A could be seen in the mirror, while Mark B could not. When the elephant looked in the mirror, it touched only Mark A on its own head again and again. Only a few other animals, such as great apes and dolphins, have shown this ability.
That is not all. We all know the saying: “An elephant never forgets.” In the wild, elephants keep track of up to thirty family members across large areas. They remember where friends are, where water hides and where danger waits—all key to helping their whole family survive. In one study, Asian elephants remembered tasks they had learnt eight years earlier without practice in between. Another study found that elephants were able to recognise their mother’s smell after nearly 30 years apart.
In a 2011 study, scientists made a sliding (可滑动的) table with one rope through it. Two elephants had to pull the rope at the same time to get their own bowl of corn. If one elephant pulled before the other, the rope slipped out and no one could get the food. After many tries, the elephants learnt to wait for their partners. Then the scientists made it harder by letting the elephants out at different times. Still, the elephants managed to wait for each other. Most impressively, when the rope was placed out of reach for one elephant, the other elephant gave up on the task and didn’t even try to pull.

Have you ever lost yourself in doing something so that you forget the time? Everything around you — from the ringing of phones to the people passing by — seemed to be away.
Most of us have ever had this experience. This special state (状态) of mind is called “flow”. When it happens, we completely focus on (关注) the task before us so that nothing else seems to matter.
The idea of flow was introduced and first studied by psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. According to his discovery, whether flow happens depends on the difficulty of the challenge and our skill levels. For example, if the task is low challenging and doesn’t need a lot of skills, we probably feel bored with it. But facing a challenging task without the necessary skills could easily cause worry. He finally found out that when the challenge is difficult and we believe we have enough skills, flow happens.
▲ During flow, people can work faster and better. For example, artists said that they could produce more works easily “without putting in much effort” in flow state. Flow can also make people more focused and creative because they have to look for new challenges and information to keep the state. With flow, people have greater levels of happiness and satisfaction in their activities.
Flow can happen whenever a person is deeply lost in a task. During learning activities, clear plans, challengeable tasks and quick feedback (反馈) can help achieve flow. It’s more difficult to achieve flow if people’s attention is distracted, so it’s necessary to turn off smartphones, TV and other electronic products that stop you from focusing.
( ) 56. What can people do when they are in flow?
A. Finish the task before others. B. Face difficult challenges.
C. Give full attention to their tasks. D. Notice others passing by.
( ) 57. According to Csikszentmihalyi’s study, what makes the flow state happen?
A. When the challenge is low and skills are high.
B. When the challenge is high and skills are low.
C. When the challenge is high and skills are high.
D. When the challenge is low and skills are low.
( ) 58. Which of the following can be put in “ ▲ ” in Paragraph 4?
A. Why is flow so amazing?
B. What advantages does flow bring?
C. When can people experience flow?
D. How do people use the flow model?
( ) 59. What does the underlined word “distracted” in the last paragraph mean?
A. Focused on. B. Mixed up. C. Written down. D. Taken away.

Winter science doesn't need freezing temperatures or real snow—this easy ice cube
"fishing"activity is perfect for home and classrooms.Kids will surely love this hands-on activity.
Materials:
You need some ice cubes,a bowl, salt and a cotton string.
Instructions:
Step 1:Add several ice cubes to a bowland fillit with water.
Step 2:Lay the string across the top of one ice cube.
Step 3:Sprinkle(撒)salt directly over the string and the ice cube.Wait for at least half a minute.
Step 4:Slowly lift the string. The ice cube should come up with it! How it works:
Salt lowers the freezing point of water. It causes ice to melt(融化)even when temperatures are low. When salt is sprinkled on the ice, part of the ice on the surface melts into water. That water then refreezes around the string. The refrozen ice sticks to the string. As soon as the ice cube hardens, you can raise it by lifting the string.
This is a physical change, not a chemical one.The ice melts and refreezes without changing what it's made of—just like icy roads refreeze after being salted.
Tips:
If the waiting time is too short, the string won’'t stick.Too long, the ice may melt too much. Be careful with the amount(数量)of salt.Too much salt melts the ice too quickly.
Try this:
Place two ice cubes on a plate.Put a string between the cubes.Sprinkle salt where the string touches the ice cubes.Wait a while, and then gently lift the string.Guess what will happen?

The ocean covers more than 70%of our planet, yet nearly 11 million tons of plastic enter our oceans each year.Around 100,000 sea animals die every year because of plastic pollution, while over one million seabirds accidentally eat plastic every year.Studies show that by 2050,there could be more plastic than fish in the ocean by weight if no action is taken.
And here's where technology steps in.Ocean cleaning robots are becoming one of the most powerful tools to deal with ocean pollution.Unlike traditional cleanup methods that need boats, nets, and manpower, the robots can work tirelessly to collect waste, separate recyclable material, and help keep sea ecosystems(生态系统)healthy.
▲ Surface cleaning robots are used to collect plastic, bottles, bags and other rubbish that stay on water surface.Examples include Clearbot(Hong Kong)and WasteShark (Netherlands). Such a robot can collect 200 to 500 kilograms of rubbish daily.Underwater robots use cameras, special arms and sensors ( 感应器)to find and take away the waste, including fishing nets—one of the deadliest forms of ocean rubbish for sea animals.Oil cleaning robots are designed to take in oil that gets out of ships by accident while microplastic collecting robots help collect tiny plastic pieces without harming the fish.

How To Take London Buses
How to pay for a bus ride
It’s not possible to pay with cash and the driver doesn’t sell tickets, so you need to take a travel card with you before you get on.
How to get off a bus
If you want to get off the bus, you have to press the bell. If it’s silent, that probably means someone has pressed it. Just look for a “stopping” sign by one of the doors.
Good and bad manners on the bus
● Standing up—For safety reasons, you’re not allowed to stand on the stairs.
● Talking to the person next to you—There’s nothing wrong with starting a conversation with someone but the British aren’t quite comfortable doing so.
● Asking the driver where to get off—It’s okay to ask the driver a question when you get on, but do not do so while the bus is moving.
● Getting off the bus—You should leave by the middle or back doors. Some drivers can be angry when you leave by the front door because it is only for people to get on.
● Thanking the driver—Drivers don’t expect it, but passengers can shout out a quick thank you when they get off. Or you can just raise your hand as you get off because they’ll be watching you in the mirror.

Songbirds are the birds with a beautiful voice. Different kinds of songbirds wake up at different times in the morning and begin to sing. This is because they have different waking clocks, according to the brightness of the sunlight.
We mostly hear bird concerts between spring and summer. This is the time when birds are looking for partners. Studies have shown that songs play an important role in attracting possible partners and may even show the health of the singer. Even after they have found a partner, male (雄性的) birds continue to sing, because it’s a way of showing their babies how to sing.
Although baby birds know the songs they will sing as adults, true songbirds have to learn how to sing properly. Nestlings begin learning their songs by listening to adults around them. They go through several stages of learning, just like humans learning language. First, they practice voices and sounds, which is like the early stage in human language development. Then, during the second stage, the birds practice their songs for eight to nine months. The singing is improved a lot during the final stage with the help of their teachers.
Like humans, members of each kind of songbirds have their own dialects (方言). These are learned from their parents when the birds are children.

Have you ever wondered how animals avoid being eaten? Animals have developed two main ways to protect themselves from their enemies. The first is to hide, and the second is to stand out as a warning.
Some animals stay safe from enemies by looking like the plants, tree bark, and leaves around them, like the rocket frogs. This is called camouflage (伪装). Other animals do the opposite. They are bright and colorful. Animals like monarch butterflies, poison dart frogs, and coral snakes have amazing bright colors such as red, yellow, and orange. These colors help them stand out from their green or brown background. The bright colors act as a warning signal to enemies, saying, “I am dangerous! Do not eat me!”
“________” Animals can get their warning colors in two main ways. First, they can get them from their parents, just like humans get eye and hair color from their families. Coral snakes, for example, get their bright red, black, and yellow lines from their parents. These snakes have venom (毒液) that can be deadly. Second, some animals get their bright colors from the food they eat. Many foods have natural coloring called carotenoids (类胡萝卜素), which give plants like carrots and tomatoes their orange, yellow, or red colors. These foods can give the animals a bright warning color and make them poisonous (有毒的).
Whether hiding or standing out, both methods help animals survive in a world full of hungry enemies. The next time you see a brightly colored insect or a well-camouflaged animal, you’ll know it’s not just about looking good — it’s a matter of life and death!
26. Which are the two ways animals protect themselves?
A. Sleeping and eating. B. Playing and dancing. C. Running and fighting. D. Hiding and warning.
27. What does the underlined word “signal” probably mean?
A. Sign. B. Sound. C. Food. D. Story.
28. Which of the following can be put in “________” in Paragraph 3?
A. Why do animals need warning colors? B. What animals have warning colors?
C. How do animals get warning colors? D. What warning colors are common?
29. How do coral snakes get their bright colors?
A. By eating colorful plants.
B. From their parents.
C. From the soil they live in.
D. By changing with seasons.
30. Which is the best title for this text?
A. The Secrets of Hiding
B. The Danger of Bright Colors
C. Two Ways to Survive
D. The Life of Coral snakes

The world’s smallest snake — the Barbados threadsnake — hadn’t been seen in almost 20 years. Scientists began to think that the tiny snakes might be extinct. But in March 2025, researchers searching a forest in Barbados found one of the snakes under a rock.
The Barbados threadsnake is found in Barbados, an island nation in the Caribbean. An adult threadsnake measures just 3 to 4 inches (8 to 10 centimeters). The snakes are blind, and live in small holes in the ground. They look a bit like earthworms (蚯蚓), but many earthworms are actually larger. The snakes eat termites (白蚁) and termite eggs.
The Barbados threadsnake was first reported in 1889. But between 1889 and 2006, the snakes were only found four times. The last time a Barbados threadsnake was found was in 2006. Biologist S. Blair Hedges found the snake that time, and officially named it. He describes it as a “rare species”.
The snakes aren’t just rare. There has also been a lot of pressure on the tiny snakes. The threadsnakes normally live under rocks in the forests of Barbados. But 98% of the island’s forests have been cut down for farming. On top of that, another small, blind snake, called the Brahminy blind snake, has arrived on the island. These snakes eat similar food and have spread quickly on the island.
In March, scientists from the Barbados Ministry of the Environment and Re: Wild made a very careful search in one of the few natural forests left on the island.
After spending hours, and turning over hundreds of stones, Mr Blades, along with Justin Springer of Re:Wild, noticed a stone stuck under the root of a tree. Mr Springer reported that he “________” about the stone. Sure enough, there was a tiny threadsnake under the rock.
About a month later, they found another threadsnake in another part of the forest.
26. What does the first paragraph mainly tell us?
A. The smallest snake in the world is the Barbados threadsnake.
B. Scientists did their best to find the snakes in a forest in 2025.
C. Scientists have found the smallest snake again after thinking it was gone.
D. The smallest snake may be extinct in the future according to the report.
27. What does the underlined word “extinct” mean?
A. suffer from B. die out C. move away D. cut down
28. What do Barbados threadsnakes look like?
① They look smaller than many earthworms.
② Their eyes are so small that they seem to be blind.
③ They are thin and short and not easy to be discovered.
④ They are about 8 to 10 centimeters long when they grow up.
A. ①②③ B. ②③④ C. ①③④ D. ①②④
29. Which of the following can be put into “________” in Paragraph 6?
A. felt nervous B. had a feeling C. was quite worried D. was proud
30. What will the writer probably write next?
A. The plan to keep the threadsnakes’ home safe.
B. The differences between the threadsnake and the earthworm.
C. The story of finding the threadsnake for the first time long ago.
D. The problem of people catching the threadsnake to keep at home.
【答案】26. C 27. B 28. C 29. B 30. A

根据前文“hadn't been seen in almost 20 years”以及后文重新发现蛇的内容,可推测“extinct”的意思是“灭绝”,即“die out”。
【28题详解】
根据文章内容,“The snakes are blind”,不是眼睛小看起来盲,所以②错误;“An adult threadsnake measures just 3 to 4 inches (8 to 10 centimeters)”说明④正确;“They look a bit like earthworms, but many earthworms are actually larger”说明①正确;这种蛇很小且生活在地下小洞里,不容易被发现,说明③正确。所以①③④正确。
【29题详解】
根据前文研究人员仔细搜索,翻转了数百块石头,发现一块石头卡在树根下,以及后文“Sure enough, there was a tiny threadsnake under the rock”,可推测Mr Springer对这块石头有一种感觉(觉得下面可能有蛇)。
【30题详解】
文章前面介绍了巴巴多斯线蛇的生存面临很多压力,比如98%的森林被砍伐用于耕种,还有另一种蛇的竞争等,所以在找到这种蛇之后,接下来很可能会写保护它们家园的计划。

Do you know that the wheat in your breakfast bread was once a strong “fighter”? A new study showed how the wheat was shaped into a “fighter”.
When people first started growing wheat in fields about 8,000 years ago, the plants were crowded together. The research team used 3D models to learn how the ancient wheat grew. They found that its upright leaves were good at getting sunlight. This helped the wheat grow taller than other crops. It was a way to survive. Over centuries, these aggressive characteristics were passed down, and the wheat became a “fighter”.
________. Now crops are planted very close to each other to meet the need. The farmers choose shorter crops with smaller leaves, because they won’t waste energy fighting each other for sunlight and space. In this way the crops produce more grain (谷物).
This discovery isn’t just about history. It helps scientists understand how crops change under human influence. As climate change brings new challenges—like drought (干旱) and heatwaves, researchers may look back at these characteristics of ancient “fighters” to grow stronger wheat.
Next time when you eat noodles, bread, or cookies, remember: The wheat inside has a story—from fighting with each other to living in peace.
26. Which kind of ancient wheat could grow best?
A. B. C. D.
27. What does the underlined word “aggressive” in paragraph 2 probably mean?
A. Competitive. B. Active. C. Lazy. D. Weak.
28. Which of the following sentences can be put in ________ in paragraph 3?
A. So researchers help harvest crops faster.
B. But modern farmers grow crops in a different way.
C. So the wheat can get more sunlight and grow taller.
D. But climate changes have made crops grow shorter.
29. The discovery helps to ________.
A. protect ancient wheat B. make wheat grow in the water
C. record the early farming history D. grow stronger wheat in the future
30. Which one can be the best title for the passage?
A. The History of Ancient Wheat B. Planting Crops Closely for More Grain
C. From “Fighters” to “Peaceful Neighbors” D. Growing Stronger Wheat for the Future
【答案】26. C 27. A 28. B 29. D 30. C

A. Easy. B. Safe. C. Special. D. Important.
35. What is the best title for the passage?
A. The Danger to Ocean Animals B. The Secrets of the Southern Ocean
C. Unknown Heroes in the Ocean D. New Findings on the Southern Ocean

With all these qualities, it is no wonder elephants are near the top of nature’s cleverest animals. Over the years, researchers have found creative ways to explore elephant minds. The more we learn about these incredible animals, the more we realize how much we share with them and how much we still have to discover.
37. What did the “mirror test” show about the Asian elephant?
A. It mistook its image for another animal. B. It disliked having marks on its head.
C. It could recognise itself in the mirror. D. It passed the test like most animals did.
38. What does paragraph 2 mainly tell us about elephants?
A. They have a very good memory. B. They have a great sense of smell.
C. They are good at learning new tasks. D. They like to live in big family groups.
39. What do we know about the elephant who gave up on the task in the 2011 study?
A. It lost interest in the food. B. It was tired of the waiting.
C. It knew a partner was needed. D. It preferred pulling the rope alone.
40. What is the main purpose of the passage?
A. To compare elephants with other animals.
B. To explain reasons to study animal minds.
C. To suggest ways to help elephants survive.
D. To introduce studies on elephants’ cleverness.

Learn to make your own astronaut food at home!
Have you ever thought about what astronaut eat in space? Because there is microgravity (微重力), food must be light, safe, and won’t break into small pieces. One good way is to dry the food. This weekend, why not try making your own space food?
What You Will Need:
✓ Fruits or vegetables (like apples or carrots) ✓ A knife ✓ A bowl
✓ Lemon juice and water ✓ Kitchen paper ✓ A baking pan (烤盘)
How to Make It:
1. Cut the fruits or vegetables into thin pieces of the same size.
2. Put them into a bowl with lemon juice and water, and let them be there for 5 minutes.
3. Take them out and dry them with kitchen paper.
4. Put the pieces on a baking pan. Remember to keep some space between each other.
5. Heat the oven to 5 ℃ and dry them for about 6 hours. When they become dry and hard, they’re ready.
Why We Dry Food for Astronaut:
In space, things can fly around easily. If food has water or breaks into small pieces, it can move in the air. This is dangerous for astronauts and machines. Drying the food takes away the water, so the food can last longer.
( ) 51. Which of the following is needed to make homemade astronaut food?
A. Lemon juice. B. A fork. C. Honey. D. Fresh cream.
( ) 52. How long should we dry the food in the oven?
A. For about 1 hour. B. For about 5 minutes. C. For 12 hours. D. For about 6 hours.
( ) 53. What is the right order of the steps?
A. ② → ⑤ → ④ → ① → ③
B. ③ → ⑤ → ① → ④ → ②
C. ③ → ④ → ① → ⑤ → ②
D. ① → ③ → ④ → ② → ⑤
( ) 54. Why does food need to be dry in space?
A. It can’t last long outside the earth.
B. It may fly around and cause danger.
C. It is too heavy and easy to break.
D. It is not tasty enough for astronauts.
( ) 55. What is the main purpose of the passage?
A. To introduce the development of space food.
B. To tell an interesting story about astronauts’ life.
C. To teach readers how to make their own astronaut food.
D. To explain why astronauts need special food in space.
B

With development in AI technology, machine learning, and renewable energy, robots will soon operate across rivers and oceans worldwide.Experts say that by 2030 over 30%of ocean cleanup efforts will depend on robotic systems. The progress that has been made so far proves that robotics can play a central role in keeping the oceans clean and protect human health. The real question is: how can we make better use of these technologies?

B. Active. C. Lazy. D. Weak.
