How long can I borrow? Questions about My Library Account部分中“If you believe that you received an overdue notice for an item that you’ve returned, complete the online Claim Returned Form to initiate a library staff search. (若你确认已归还物品却仍收到逾期通知,请填写线上归还申报表单,以便图书馆工作人员进行核查。)”可知,当归还物品后仍收到逾期通知时可填写归还申报表单。故选C。 B In a city of wealth, comfort and fine food, there’s a quiet alley (小巷) in London’s Camden where passers-by often take several photos. Sharing space with elegant cafes and world-class bars, a tiny fruit and vegetable stand seems to have been transported from a country road far away. But what makes the stand even more remarkable in the heart of Camden is that payment is on the honor system — customers just throw coins into an old mailbox — and most of the items on offer are priced at £ 1 in a neighborhood where fresh food usually goes for much, much more. The greengrocer with a heart of gold — a Chinese immigrant in her 50s who runs this stand alone — is rarely seen by her grateful customers. Lena Wong rises before dawn to prepare to work in her small plot in Enfield, outside London. Depending on the season, she’ll gather onions, eggplant, green peppers, etc. And she works several overnight shifts every week at a nursing home to supplement her and her husband’s modest salaries. All this started one day as she was selling produce in Enfield, and a young customer said that he barely earned enough to buy food. “I hate the idea of young people walking around hungry,” Lena Wong said. The seed was planted. “I want young people to feel that they’re not forgotten, that they are treasured,” she said. “That not everyone is out for himself. I can make money anytime. Right now, I want to give young people a helping hand.” Sometimes, when she arrives late in the day, customers get a chance to thank her in person. In return, she’s fond of offering botanical sayings that she collected from a life that has had its share of both joy and pain. “Even in a field full of weeds,” Lena Wong likes to say, “you can grow something — if you put in the effort.” 4. What is special about the stand in the quiet alley? A. It is located in an expensive cafe. B. People often take good pictures there. C. It operates on a trust and credit system. D. The goods sold there come from distant places. 5. What can we learn about Lena Wong’s job? A. It requires her to work long hours. B. It pays well to support her family. C. It attracts widespread media attention. D. It focuses on organic produce. 6. Who inspired Lena Wong to help others? A. Her grateful customers. B. A hungry youth. C. Her modest husband. D. A local grocer. 7. What does Lena’s saying in the last paragraph imply? A. Weeds are common in farming. B. Gardening requires great effort. C. Hard work can defeat difficulties. D. Joy and pain are unavoidable in life. C 5. A 6. B 7. 根据第一段中“But what makes the stand even more remarkable in the heart of Camden is that payment is on the honor system — customers just throw coins into an old mailbox — and most of the items on offer are priced at £ 1 in a neighborhood where fresh food usually goes for much, much more. (但这座摊位在卡姆登的中心之所以更加引人注目,还在于其采用的是“信誉制度”付款方式——顾客只需将硬币投入一个旧邮箱中即可完成支付——而且这里出售的大多数商品价格都定为1英镑,而在这个社区,新鲜食品的价格通常要高得多得多。)”可知,这个摊位的特别之处在于它采用了一种基于信任和信用的运营方式。 【5题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段中“Lena Wong rises before dawn to prepare to work in her small plot in Enfield, outside London. Depending on the season, she’ll gather onions, eggplant, green peppers, etc. And she works several overnight shifts every week at a nursing home to supplement her and her husband’s modest salaries. (Lena Wong黎明前就起床准备去伦敦郊外恩菲尔德的自家小菜园劳作。根据季节的不同,她会采摘洋葱、茄子、青椒等蔬菜。她每周在一家养老院上几个夜班,以补充她和丈夫微薄的工资。)”可知,Lena Wong黎明前起床务农,同时每周在养老院上夜班,说明她需要长时间劳作。 【6题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“All this started one day as she was selling produce in Enfield, and a young customer said that he barely earned enough to buy food. (这一切始于某一天,当时她在恩菲尔德售卖农产品,一位年轻的顾客表示自己挣的钱根本不够买食物。)”和“Right now, I want to give young people a helping hand. (此刻,我想为年轻人提供一些帮助。)”可知,启发Lena Wong去帮助他人的是一位饥饿的年轻人。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中““Even in a field full of weeds,” Lena Wong likes to say, “you can grow something — if you put in the effort.” (“即使在一片杂草丛生的田地里,”Lena Wong喜欢说,“如果你付出努力,你也能种出一些东西。”)”可知,Lena将“杂草丛生的田地”比作困境或逆境,“种出东西”代表取得成果,而关键条件是“付出努力”。由此可知,她的话暗示着,努力工作可以战胜困难。 C As the planet warms up and oceans rise, extreme weather events are becoming the norm. Getting notified in time to prepare for a disastrous hurricane or heat wave could be the disparity between life and death. Now AI can help. Two studies published in the journal Nature described the benefit of two AI models that could improve weather forecasting. The first AI-based system, developed by the Huawei Cloud team, is known as Pangu-Weather. It was capable of predicting global weather a week in advance. Before it came out, most countries relied on mathematical weather prediction models, which use math formulas to create computer models of the atmosphere and oceans for predicting future weather. What makes Pangu-Weather different is that the Pangu-Weather model is deeply trained with the help of 39-year global weather data, preparing it to forecast temperature, pressure, and wind speed. When compared to the mathematical weather prediction method, Pangu-Weather was 10,000 times faster and no less accurate. Pangu-Weather also contains a 3D model, unlike past AI forecasting systems, that allows it to record atmospheric states at different pressure levels to further increase its accuracy. Pangu-Weather can predict weather patterns 5 — 7 days in advance. However, it can’t forecast precipitation (降水). As precipitation prediction is vital for extreme weather forecasting, a second Nature model, NowcastNet, fills this gap. It can accurately predict rainfall 6 hours ahead, helping meteorologists (气象学家) study weather patterns in real-time more effectively. NowcastNet focuses on detailed, realistic descriptions of extreme rainfall patterns. It uses radar observations from the US and China, as well as deep learning methods, to predict precipitation rates over a 1.6-million-square-mile region of the eastern and central US up to 3 hours in advance. 62 meteorologists from China tested NowcastNet and ranked it first, out of four other leading weather forecasting methods, in reliably predicting heavy rain, which it did 71 percent of the time. While generative AI models have good prospects in weather forecasting, experts point out that replacing existing systems has many challenges. However, in 5 — 10 years, these models may surprise us. 8. What does the underlined word “disparity” in paragraph 1 mean? A. Difference. B. Relationship. C. Balance. D. Comparison. 9. Which of the following best describes Pangu-Weather? A. Data-driven. B. Multi-functional. C. Theory-based. D. Human-operated. 10. What is an advantage of NowcastNet? A. It reduces radar errors on a large scale. B. It outperforms any other weather model. C. It predicts downpours with high accuracy. D. It covers diverse regions around the globe. 11. What is the text mainly about? A. The impacts of climate change on extreme weather events. B. The introduction to high-tech weather-forecasting models. C. The challenges in using generative AI in weather forecasting. D. The explanation of new measures to protect the environment. A 9. A 10. C 11. 画线词所在句的前一句“As the planet warms up and oceans rise, extreme weather events are becoming the norm. 根据第二段中“What makes Pangu-Weather different is that the Pangu-Weather model is deeply trained with the help of 39-year global weather data, preparing it to forecast temperature, pressure, and wind speed. (盘古气象的独特之处在于,其模型经过了基于39年全球气象数据的深度训练,从而能够预测温度、气压和风速。)”可推知,“数据驱动”最能描述盘古气象大模型的特点。 【10题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段中“62 meteorologists from China tested NowcastNet and ranked it first, out of four other leading weather forecasting methods, in reliably predicting heavy rain, which it did 71 percent of the time. (62名来自中国的气象学家对NowcastNet进行了测试,在其他四种主要的天气预报方法中,NowcastNet在可靠预测大雨方面排名第一,准确率为71%。)”可知,NowcastNet的一个优势是它能高精度地预测暴雨。 【11题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段中“Now AI can help. Two studies published in the journal Nature described the benefit of two AI models that could improve weather forecasting. D From taking quick shots for social media with a smartphone to patiently waiting for the perfect street moment with a film camera, photography has become part of everyday life. However, there is a common misunderstanding that mobile photography, compared to film photography, reduces creation to a shallow form of photographic note-taking rather than true art. This belief misses a core fact: these two media represent different ways of seeing and creating. Psychology research offers insights into this. Professor Robert Epstein from Harvard University’s Visual Cognition Lab notes, “When we take photos with a phone, our brain is in a ‘rapid capture’ mode; whereas with a film camera, it enters a ‘deliberate composition’ state.” Functional MRI (核磁共振) studies have shown that when using a smartphone, areas of the brain linked to quick decision-making are more active. In contrast, when using a film camera, the networks related to sense of beauty and precise hand control show stronger connectivity. Photography educator David Yorke explains: “With a film camera, you must think through everything before taking the picture — composition, exposure, timing. This forces you to slow down and truly learn to ‘see’.” However, it does not mean that mobile photography cannot produce true art. An experiment in a journal of visual research found that mobile users take an average of 15 times more photos per day than film users. This frequent practice enhances their ability to capture fleeting (转瞬即逝的) moments. Documentary photographer Marina Chen shares this view: “Smartphones have made photography accessible to everyone. Sometimes, the energy in these moments is more valuable than carefully arranged shots.” A truly mature photographer understands that artistic vision requires both: the quick response to the present and the discipline to compose with care. Mobile photography and film photography do not replace each other. Together, they enrich our visual expression and expand our capacity to see the world with clarity and imagination. 12. What is a common misunderstanding about mobile photography? A. It lacks artistic depth. B. It departs from daily life. C. It misses digital creativity. D. It blocks factual recording. 13. What can we learn about film and mobile photography from paragraph 2? A. They need professional insight. B. They depend on instant capture. C. They involve distinct mental processes. D. They reflect different controlling behaviors. 14. What ability does film photography develop according to David Yorke? A. Visual sensitivity. B. Mindful observation. C. Decisive response. D. Emotional engagement. 15. What is the best title for the text? A. The Brain Science Behind Photography B. Beyond the Shallow, Reclaiming the Art C. A Scientific Guide to Better Photography D. Two Modes of Imaging, One Art of Creating 【答案】12. A 13. C 14. B 15. 根据第一段中的“However, there is a common misunderstanding that mobile photography, compared to film photography, reduces creation to a shallow form of photographic note-taking rather than true art.(然而,有一种普遍的误解,认为与胶片摄影相比,手机摄影将创作简化为一种肤浅的摄影笔记形式,而非真正的艺术。)” 故选A项。 根据第二段中的“When we take photos with a phone, our brain is in a‘rapid capture’mode; whereas with a film camera, it enters a‘deliberate composition’state. Functional MRI (核磁共振) studies have shown that when using a smartphone, areas of the brain linked to quick decision-making are more active. In contrast, when using a film camera, the networks related to sense of beauty and precise hand control show stronger connectivity.(当我们用手机拍照时,大脑处于‘快速捕捉’模式;而用胶片相机时,大脑会进入‘刻意构图’状态。功能磁共振成像(FMRI)研究表明,使用智能手机拍照时,大脑中与快速决策相关的区域更为活跃。相比之下,使用胶片相机时,与美感及精准手部控制相关的神经网络连接性更强。)”可知,手机摄影和胶片摄影涉及截然不同的心理过程。故选C项。 【14题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中的“With a film camera, you must think through everything before taking the picture — composition, exposure, timing. This forces you to slow down and truly learn to ‘see’.(用胶片相机拍照时,你必须在按下快门前进⾏周全考虑——构图、曝光、时机。 There’s just something about Labubu. You hear the sound of opening a blind box, see that cheeky smile and suddenly you’re attracted. But once the excitement fades, you can’t help but wonder, why do we keep chasing more, even when we already have enough? Evolutionary psychology gives us a fascinating answer. A lot of what we do comes from what once helped our ancestors survive. ___16___ That could mean the difference between thriving (繁荣) and going without. Over generations, we’ve been wired to find joy in having more than we require. Labubu represents a modern form of this instinct (本能). The blind-box model mirrors ancestral uncertainty: investing effort toward an uncertain payoff with the possibility of a rare, high-status “secret” find. The uncertainty of the reward activates dopamine pathways in the brain. ___17___ This explains why collectors sometimes keep buying long after they’ve achieved their goal. ___18___ When collecting remains a source of joy and social connection, it can be adaptive. Many Labubu collectors share mini furniture, and fan-made content. ___19___ But when over-marketing and rocketing resale prices step in, the whole environment changes. Suddenly, it’s less about the joy of owning something you love and more about showing off or reselling it for a profit. In questioning whether hoarding is simply collecting gone mad, it becomes clear that human psychology hasn’t fundamentally changed. Social media, over-marketing, and resale culture supercharge ancient drives. The challenge is to keep those drives in balance. ___20___ Ask yourself: Does it truly spark joy or creativity? In the end, Labubu is more than a toy. It’s a little mirror, reflecting both our ancient instincts and modern anxieties, and showing just how easily a fun hobby can tip into full-blown craze. A. Collect what brings genuine pleasure. B. But how does collecting slip into disorder? C. Buyers don’t know which figure they will get. D. Back then, collecting was about saving tools or food for later use. E. Collecting becomes a problem when possessions damage our daily life. F. It makes us “want” the experience even when we already “have” enough. G. Such are forms of self-expression that enrich rather than mess up our life. D 17. F 18. B 19. G 20. 【16题详解】 根据前文“A lot of what we do comes from what once helped our ancestors survive. (我们所做的很多事情,都是源于那些曾经帮助我们的祖先生存下来的策略。)”提到进化心理学认为人类的很多行为源于祖先的生存需求,同时结合主题“收集”这一行为,设空句应讲述祖先的收集行为。选项D“Back then, collecting was about saving tools or food for later use. (那时,收集物品主要是为了日后使用而保存工具或食物。)”承接了“祖先生存”这一语境,解释了祖先收集行为的目的。故选D项。 【17题详解】 前文“The uncertainty of the reward activates dopamine pathways in the brain. (奖励的不确定性会激活大脑中的多巴胺通路。)”提到“多巴胺通路被激活”,那么设空句紧跟其后,继续讲述激活多巴胺通路导致的后果。选项F“It makes us ‘want’ the experience even when we already ‘have’ enough. (它让我们即便已经拥有了足够的东西,仍“渴望”去体验那未曾拥有的事物。)”解释了多巴胺通路被激活后的心理效果,且与后文“This explains why collectors sometimes keep buying long after they’ve achieved their goal. (这就解释了为什么收藏者有时即便已经达成目标之后,仍会继续不断地购买。)”进一步构成“因果关系”。故选F项。 【18题详解】 设空句为该段的首句,应是该段的中心主旨句。该段前部内容“When collecting remains a source of joy and social connection, it can be adaptive. (当收集物品成为一种带来快乐和促进社交的活动时,它就具有一定的适应性了。)”提到“收集带来快乐时具有适应性”,而后半段“But”句内容“But when over-marketing and rocketing resale prices step in, the whole environment changes. Suddenly, it’s less about the joy of owning something you love and more about showing off or reselling it for a profit. (但一旦过度营销和飞涨的转售价格介入,整个环境就会发生改变。突然之间,人们关注的焦点不再在于拥有自己喜爱之物所带来的快乐,而更多地在于炫耀或者通过转售来获取利润。)”则讲述了关于Labubu的“过度营销、炒价”问题,将“合理收集”与“无序收集” 形成对比,从而解释了“收集如何陷入无序”。选项B“But how does collecting slip into disorder? (但收藏物品怎么会变得无序起来呢?)” 以设问引出下文对两种情况的分析,起到承上启下的作用。故选B项。 【19题详解】 根据前文“Many Labubu collectors share mini furniture, and fan-made content. (许多Labubu收藏者会共享小型家具以及自制内容。)”提到了Labubu收藏者的行为,设空处应是对这些行为进行积极解读。选项G“Such are forms of self-expression that enrich rather than mess up our life. (这些自我表达的形式丰富了我们的生活,而不是把我们的生活搞砸了。)”提到了积极意义,且句中“Such”指代前文具体行为。故选G项。 【20题详解】 根据后文“Ask yourself: Does it truly spark joy or creativity? (问问自己:这样做真的能带来快乐或激发创造力吗?)”提出了一个关于“Labubu收集”的本质的疑问,设空句作为前一句,应是对收集的本质进行概括总结。选项A“Collect what brings genuine pleasure. (收集能带来真正快乐的东西。)”是收集的本质概括,置于该空后,后文在逻辑表达上与其紧密衔接。故选A项。 In every family, there eventually comes a time when the tables turn and the child becomes the one calling the shots. The concept was great, but none of us had any idea what to do. “Maybe we could have a food drive to help the homeless,” John suggested at our Sunday night meeting. “But we have done that many times,” answered Brian with a frown (皱眉). Ten minutes passed with not a single proposal (提议) good enough to win our hearts. Finally, I decided to speak. “Why don’t we think about our project for a few days and then come back with three or four suggestions we can vote on?” Everyone agreed to wait a week before we made a decision. I knew time was running out to get something going before the New Year, but I still had no idea what we should do. During the following week, one idea after another ran through my mind, but I was still indecisive Thursday after school, I wandered into the kitchen as my dad prepared for dinner.Sensing my uneasiness, he asked what troubled me without even looking up.“Well...it...” I let out a long breath. “Our youth group wants to do something for the New Year, but we don’t know what to do...”“Hmm.” My dad thought out loud. “There’s a seniors’ home I’ve worked with close to St. Joseph’s Hospital. The residents don’t get out much around the New Year with the snow and ice. It might be an idea to take them out to see the New Year lights around here.” I stood still for a few moments thinking of all the spectacular New Year light display (绚丽的新年灯光秀) in our neighborhood. To be honest, I never thought about that, but it might just work. Next Sunday evening, our youth group met. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On New Year’s Day, the bus we rented arrived at the seniors’ home in the snow. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】例文 Next Sunday evening, our youth group met. My fellows put forward several suggestions and I also contributed Dad’s idea for discussion. Much to my surprise, the New Year light tour won their hearts. We called the seniors’ home and they were thrilled about our proposal. The following weeks, we were busy preparing everything for the tour, including the bus to drive the seniors along the planned route. On New Year’s Day, the bus we rented arrived at the seniors’ home in the snow. Despite the cold, the snow added a magical white blanket to the neighborhood. All seniors slowly found seats on the bus and the tour began. The spectacular light display lit up their faces and I even saw some eyes filling up. Returning home, the seniors couldn’t stop talking about all they’d seen and thanked us. We were thrilled to have made their lives a little brighter during this special time of the year. Looking at their excited and grateful faces, we’d never felt warmer. 词汇激活 ①提出:put forward/come up with ②忙于做某事:be busy doing sth./be occupied doing sth.    ③忍不住:couldn’t stop/couldn’t resist 情绪类 ①惊讶:surprise/astonishment ②兴奋:thrilled/excited 【点睛】[高分句型1] Returning home, the seniors couldn’t stop talking about all they’d seen and thanked us. C As the planet warms up and oceans rise, extreme weather events are becoming the norm. 12. In every family, there eventually comes a time when the tables turn and the child becomes the one calling the shots. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
