In Huaihua, a middle school started a “family recipe(食谱)” project. Students were asked to learn one traditional dish from their family and record the story behind it.
Luo Xin learned to make sour fish soup from her grandfather. At first, she only watched. Her grandfather told her that the dish was popular in their village because it tasted fresh and could warm people in cold weather. Then Luo Xin tried to wash fish, cut vegetables and add sour soup.

Many teenagers like to set big goals, such as reading 50 books a year or running five kilometers every day. Goals can help us move forward, but if they are too big, we may give up easily.
A better way is to start small. For example, if you want to read more, start with ten pages a day. If you want to exercise, start with five minutes. Small goals are easier to finish, and finishing them gives us confidence.
Another useful idea is to make goals clear. “I will study harder” is not clear enough. “I will review English words for ten minutes after dinner” is better. A clear goal tells us exactly what to do.
It is also important to check our progress. We can mark a calendar or write a short note each day. When we see our progress, we will want to keep going.
Big changes often begin with small steps. Choose a small goal today and stick to it.
