After a tiring week, I went to the beach nearby for some quality time with myself. It was a lovely time watching families come and go for a warm weekend here in California.
After a few hours, I decided to walk along the waves to get to my car on the other side. When I was heading off the beach, I noticed a little girl playing by herself. It looked like she built a little sandcastle (沙堡) with a river around it and was now trying to fill the river with water.
Unfortunately, there was no container (容器) around to carry water. She went to the sea and used her hands to carry water to her little castle. Sadly, not much of the water was making it to the river. But she kept trying and was still smiling and hopeful. I wished I could help her out, but I didn’t have a container with me.
As I was standing there watching her, feeling helpless, I suddenly realized that I had a bottle of water in my backpack. I quickly took it out and walked over to hand it to her.
At first she felt confused, so she smiled and shook her head shyly, saying no. I promised her that it would make getting the water much faster. She smiled widely and finally took it from my hands. I didn’t want her to feel self-conscious (局促不安), so I walked off the beach right away. Then I saw her running over to the sea with a big smile with a bottle in hand.
In my heart, I know that when she notices that someone needs help in her life, maybe she would remember this little act of kindness from a stranger. And maybe that would make her more likely to jump in and help create a little gentler world around her.
根据材料内容选择最佳答案。
26. How did the writer go to the beach?
A. On foot. B. By boat. C. By bus. D. By car.
27. What did the girl use to carry water at first?

A. Help little girls when necessary B. Spend weekends on beach
