Nowadays, on subways, buses and in public places, plenty of young people keep watching their mobile phones carefully. This group is well-known as the low-headed tribe. Although smartphones make our daily life much more convenient, they bring hidden risks to people’s eyesight.
According to a British study, local people spend nearly two hours on phones every day. Ever since smartphones were widely used in 2007, the number of short-sighted people in the UK has increased by 35 percent quickly.
Staring at phone screens for a long time easily causes dry eyes. When our eyes look at distant objects, we blink naturally and often. However, looking at close screens slows down our eye-blinking. It cuts down eye tears and causes serious discomfort. What’s worse, using phones in dark environment before sleeping is a harmful habit. Bright screen light makes pupils become smaller. Too much light does great harm to eyes and may lead to a serious eye illness called glaucoma (青光眼).
Instead of giving up smartphones completely, people can take easy steps to protect eyes. Users should keep phones 30 centimeters away from eyes. It is necessary to relax eyes every hour. Looking at far things and then the tip of nose is useful to reduce eye tiredness.
26. The low-headed tribe mainly use phones in their own homes.
27. Smartphones may be one reason for more short-sighted British people.
28. People blink more often when watching far things than phone screens.
29. Using phones in dark rooms can hardly cause any eye illness.
30. We should rest our eyes after using phones for sixty minutes.
28. A 29. B

Poyang Lake, located in northern Jiangxi Province, is the largest freshwater lake in China. It’s also the second largest lake in the country, second only to Qinghai Lake.
Long ago, during the Tang Dynasty, the lake was at its biggest, covering about 6,000 square kilometres. Today, it is just around 3,150 square kilometres. The size of Poyang Lake also changes a lot throughout the year. In summer, it is like a huge inland sea. By winter, it almost disappears.
Because of the natural cycle (周期), the lake is home to many animals. The Yangtze finless porpoise (长江江豚), an endangered freshwater animal, lives in the water. Also, hundreds of birds spend the winter in its wetlands every year. However, the wet areas are getting smaller. This makes it hard for animals living there to survive.
Luckily, local people are taking action to meet the challenge. The story of Yuan Wenbin is a great example. Yuan used to fish in Poyang Lake for a living. When he noticed that the Yangtze finless porpoises were disappearing, he was worried. He stopped full-time fishing and asked his neighbours to protect the animals together. However, they didn’t take it seriously at first.
“For a long time, I felt like I was the only one who cared,” Yuan said. He wasn’t sure if his work would make a difference. However, he didn’t give up. Day by day, Yuan’s actions inspired more community members. They started joining him to watch over the lake in 2017.
Now, Poyang Lake is becoming more friendly to wildlife. Many visitors come to visit it. “I just hope our hard work can encourage more people to protect the lake we depend on,” Yuan said.
31. What do we know about Poyang Lake?
A. It is larger than Qinghai Lake.
B. It gets much smaller in winter.
C. It becomes bigger than before.
32. Which of the following does paragraph 3 answer?
A. What makes local people take action to protect the lake?
B. What do Yangtze finless porpoises look like?
C. What makes it hard for the animals there to survive?
33. How did Yuan feel about protecting the animals at first?
A. Happy and excited. B. Alone and uncertain. C. Confident and hopeful.
34. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. The condition of Poyang Lake is improving.
B. Few visitors come to Poyang Lake these days.
C. All the visitors will help protect the lake.
35. What is the passage mainly about?
A. Great changes of Poyang Lake and its protection.
B. Ecological problems of Poyang Lake and wild animals.
C. The development stories of people living by Poyang Lake.
31. B 32. C 33. B 34. A 35. A

根据第二段中“By winter, it almost disappears.” A选项“它比青海湖更大”与原文“second only to Qinghai Lake”不符;C选项“它比以前更大了”与原文“During the Tang Dynasty, the lake was at its biggest... Today, it is just around 3,150 square kilometres”不符。
第三段中提到“However, the wet areas are getting smaller. This makes it hard for animals living there to survive.”,解释了湿地缩小是动物生存困难的原因,因此回答了“是什么让那里的动物难以生存”这个问题,对应C选项。
根据第五段中“For a long time, I felt like I was the only one who cared... He wasn’t sure if his work would make a difference.”
根据最后一段中“Now, Poyang Lake is becoming more friendly to wildlife. Many visitors come to visit it.”

E“Here are some tips to pick a great book”符合语境,起到承上启下的作用。
前文提到“The best people to answer your questions are librarians!” C“They are cool book brains who know the books well”点明他们是书籍大脑,对书籍很了解,与前后文衔接自然。

根据前文“Our class was trying to come up with a way to raise money... but we couldn’t agree on something”可知,班级讨论筹款方式陷入僵局,因此老师提议午饭后继续讨论。
根据后文“because he had to go to the doctor”可知,Anthony因要去看医生,无法和大家一起吃午饭。
根据前文“I shouted, ‘Art show!’”
根据后文“Anthony was the one who thought of it!”
根据前文“I was feeling so bad about it”可知,作者因内疚而难以享受活动。
根据后文“it didn’t matter whose idea it was”可知,Anthony一开始因作者未说出想法来源而感到不快。

56. was scared of
57. ached 58. miles
59. happily
60. award
根据后文“Her legs often ... and school tests gave her stress”可知莉莉之前害怕跑步,be scared of表示“害怕”,且根据Last spring可知时态是一般过去时,主语Lily是第三人称单数,所以用was scared of。
