It’s common to experience a heavy snow in winter. Snowstorms are dangerous and they can bring many problems. So how can we keep safe during a snowstorm?
Before a snowstorm
When the sky turns grey and the wind is strong, a snowstorm may be on the way. If the weather report says it will snow heavily, prepare food and warm clothes at once.
During a snowstorm
When you stay indoors, don’t go near windows. Heavy snow can break them. Don’t use water or electricity carelessly. If you are outside, never stay under a tree. You may think it is safe, but it is not a good place to stay. The heavy snow can break the tree and hurt you. Try to find a warm and low place to wait.
After a snowstorm
After the snow stops, the roads are slippery. Don’t run or drive too fast. Be careful when you walk on the road.

五、任务型阅读
Many people like travelling in mountains now. But what can we do if there is a sudden rain or even a storm? We need to prepare well and keep ourselves safe.Keep your body moving
Move around as you wait to let your body stay warm.Find a safe place
Look for a place to take shelter (遮蔽) from the rain, such as a tree, a cave, or even your tent. If you hear thunder, find a shelter at once. Staying outside during a thunderstorm is dangerous.Watch for changes in the terrain (地形)
Rain can cause flooding, mudslides, rock slides and slippery trails (湿滑的山道). All of them can be very dangerous.
If you are in a lightning storm, you can’t stay in the most dangerous places, like open areas, hills, mountains, trees and waterways. Lightning is most likely to hit these areas. If you’re in the woods, try to find a small tree with other taller trees around. Hide yourself in the lowest place you can find.
Put down your trekking poles (登山杆) or other long things. In a lightning storm, trekking poles and long pointy things make a great conductor (导体) for the lightning, so they are very dangerous.
