Bladderworts, a kind of such plants, look so small. They are the famous killers of the plant kingdom (王国). They can eat a small insect quickly by using a trap (陷阱).
The trap is attractive (有吸引力的). It has bright colours and a beautiful half-closed door. Insects are very interested in the trap. They come close, take a drink and fall into the trap. The door closes and the insects can never get out.
Once the trap door closes, digestive enzymes (消化酶) eat the insects. When the meal is over, the plant opens the trap door and is ready to catch insects again. Meat-eating plants eat people in some movies, but in fact, they eat insects, even small birds.
Meat-eating plants grow mostly in wet areas with soil (土壤) that doesn’t grow much food. These amazing plants develop insect traps to get their food for a long time. North America has more meat-eating plants than other places in the world.
