Giraffes are my favourite animals in the world. I love them because they are special and beautiful.
Giraffes are truly amazing animals. They live on the grasslands (草原) of Africa. They have long and strong legs. An adult (成年的) giraffe can grow to be about 4.5 to 6 meters tall. Even a baby giraffe is around 1.8 meters tall! Their long legs help them run very fast—up to 50 kilometers an hour—when they need to escape from danger. An adult giraffe’s neck is also long, about 2 to 2.4 meters. With such long necks, they can easily reach and eat leaves from tall trees. Every day, an adult giraffe can eat as much as 30 kilograms of leaves!
Besides being special, giraffes are really beautiful. Their bodies are covered with lovely brown spots (斑点). Mother giraffes have big, dark spots, while (然而) baby giraffes have small, light ones. The most interesting thing is that no two giraffes have the same spots! When they walk slowly on Africa’s grasslands, they look so beautiful, just like dancing in the wind.
What’s more, giraffes are usually quiet and kind animals. Some of them live in groups like a big family, and they help each other. Every time I watch giraffes eat or walk around in the zoo, I feel so happy and relaxed. Giraffes are such special animals that they make our world a more wonderful place to live in.
4. What do the underlined words “escape from” mean?
A. Wait for. B. Get out of. C. Care for.
5. What makes the giraffes beautiful according to (根据) the writer?
A. Their special spots.
B. Their long and strong necks.
C. Their quiet and kind character (性格).
6. Which idea may the writer agree with (赞成)?
A. All giraffes live with their family.
B. Giraffes live in zoos around the world.
C. Giraffes are quiet and kind animals.
7. What is the writer’s purpose (目的) of writing this text?
A. To ask us to save giraffes.
B. To tell us why giraffes are quiet and kind.
C. To show the reasons why he loves giraffes.
【答案】4. B 5. A 6. C 7. C
【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要讲述了长颈鹿的生活环境、身体特征、外形特点和性格特质,进而表达了作者对长颈鹿的喜爱之情。
【4题详解】
第二段指出语境:“Their long legs help them run very fast—up to 50 kilometers an hour—when they need to escape from danger”,结合“run very fast”和“danger”可推测,“escape from”意为“摆脱、逃离”,与“Get out of”含义一致。
【5题详解】
第三段说明关键信息:“Besides being special, giraffes are really beautiful. Their bodies are covered with lovely brown spots”“the most interesting thing is that no two giraffes have the same spots”,明确作者认为长颈鹿美丽的原因是它们特别的斑点。
【6题详解】
第四段直接表述:“What’s more, giraffes are usually quiet and kind animals”,长颈鹿是安静善良的动物。这与选项C的表述完全一致,可推断作者会赞成该观点。
【7题详解】
第一段点明核心主旨:“Giraffes are my favourite animals in the world. I love them because they are special and beautiful”,后文围绕长颈鹿的特别之处展开详细说明,因此作者的写作目的是展示自己喜爱长颈鹿的原因。

Denmark is making a new rule for children. Children under 15 cannot use social media (社交媒体). However, parents can choose to let their children use it from age 13 if they have a good reason. Children under 13 cannot use it at all.
________ These days, many children often feel unhappy. Sometimes, they see bad things on the Internet (因特网), and this makes it hard for them to read books or focus in class. Also, a study shows 60% of boys aged 11 to 19 do not meet friends in their free time. They only talk on the phone. People think mobile phones are the problem.
The government (政府) of Denmark says, “Phones and social media may take away our children’s childhood (童年).” In Denmark, there is already a rule for children-they can’t bring phones to primary schools or after-school clubs. And Denmark is not the only country with such rules. Take some countries for example. Australia does not let children under 16 use social media. In Germany, children between 13 and 16 must ask their parents first before using social media.
The government of Denmark hopes this new rule will let children be children again-to play, learn, and spend time with friends in real life.
8. Who is following the new rule in Denmark?
A. Ella, 11, uses TikTok.
B. John, 12, uses Facebook.

【8题详解】

①Think about it: you’re sitting alone (独自地) in a restaurant. The waiter brings you a bowl of the world’s best noodles, and you wish you had someone to share it with. But no family or friends are there with you.
②How do you feel then? The noodles are delicious, but you won’t truly enjoy them. Your feelings may even make the noodles taste not so good.
③Studies show that shared experiences (经历) make us happier. This is because when we have someone by our side, we don’t have to face everything alone - good or bad. When we share good news with family or friends, our happiness grows greater. When we tell them our problems, our sadness gets lighter.
④The studies also show that we may lose interest in nice things we have if we have no one to share them with. Without sharing, these things seem to lose their meaning, too.
⑤Next time you eat a bowl of delicious noodles with a family member or a good friend, think about how great it is to share this moment (时刻). When we are with family or friends, we can laugh together, help each other, and feel warm and safe. Life is full of great things, but it’s the people we share them with that make life special.
12. How does the writer start the passage?
A. By telling a story. B. By asking a question. C. By showing a life-like picture.
13. What do the studies say about shared experiences?
A. They make us feel better.
B. They make us feel tired.
C. They help work out life problems.
14. Why do nice things lose meaning sometimes?
A. Because they are not really nice.
B. Because we have too many of them.
C. Because we have no one to share them with.
15. Which of the following shows the structure (结构) of the reading?
A. B. C.
【答案】12. C 13. A 14. C 15. B

A. B. C.

Nowadays, a lot of students are interested in rope jumping (跳绳). You can jump alone (独自地) or with your classmates. If you jump alone, you will need a short rope and it will be just long enough for your height.
When you start to jump, you must turn the rope slowly and high enough to let you jump freely and safely (安全地).
Rope jumping is not only great fun, but also a great exercise. Nowadays, students usually spend a lot of time on their studies, and they don’t have enough time to do sports. The best way to solve the problem is to get them to jump and play, and rope jumping does this very well.
In our school, each student has a rope. They can jump in PE classes or after class. It is very interesting to see how long they can jump. They turn the rope slowly enough for them to jump over at the right time without striking (撞击) their feet.
