Japan started putting nuclear-contaminated water (核污染水) into the ocean on Aug 24th, 2023. History will never forget this day.
A tsunami hit the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant (福岛第一核电站) in Japan in 2011. It broke the nuclear reactors (核反应堆), so the reactors became very hot. Japan tries to mix the idea of the two kinds of water. The country says that the contaminated water goes through a special purifying process (过滤程序), and that it doesn’t hurt people’s health. However, the water has more than 60 kinds of radioactive materials. The materials will in the end hurt people’s health.

Now teachers are beginning to worry about students’ English handwriting (书写). They write carelessly and make the words or sentences ugly to look at. Is your English handwriting beautiful? If not, here are four steps that really work!
Use paper with lines
Using paper that has lines can keep you writing well when you write English words or sentences. Those lines on the paper can help you to write words in the right size. Be sure to fill the line space completely.
Slow down
If your writing is hard to read, try slowing down a little. For some kids, writing slowly makes handwriting clear. If you write too fast, it is hard for you to stop where you should, and even worse you may make more mistakes.
Hold your pen right
When you hold your pen in the correct way, writing is much easier. Some students press (按压) down really hard when they write. That makes the handwriting not nice. Try to relax yourself and don’t hold the pen so hard. Let your writing appear nice and clean. If you do so, people will guess you are a student with a good habit.
Draw more pictures
Drawing can improve your handwriting. You need to use the skills to control your pencil better when you are drawing pictures. Even though you have no chance to draw at school, you can practice by yourself at home.
根据短文内容,判断以下句子的正误。你认为正确的句子请在答题卡的相应位置内涂“T”,错误的句子 涂“F” 。
52. There are five steps in this passage.
53. Lines on the paper can help students write words in the correct sizes.
54. It’s not easier to write if you hold your pen right.

In your life, there are a lot of people around you. They are your relatives, neighbors, friends or classmates. Sometimes you get along well with them, but sometimes don’t. What can you do when someone hurts you? Most people may be angry or even fight with him. But it’s not a good idea. You’d better forget all this and forgive (原谅) him.
Maybe it’s not easy for you to do that, but it’s possible. Please remember: Keep a good mood, and you will keep healthy. Staying angry with others, in fact, means letting others’ mistakes treat yourself unfairly.
How can you forgive others?
First, think of something pleasant and try to get yourself happy.
Second, don’t wait others to say sorry to you. If anyone hurts you, he won’t say sorry to you. He may just want to hurt you or just don’t see things the same way.
Third, try to see things in others’ shoes. You can understand their minds better and make yourself a little happier.
At last, try to know yourself very well. Whose mistakes caused that, yours or others? If it’s our fault, try to say sorry to them. If it isn’t, smile at the thing.

六. 任务型阅读(共10分)
After a game like football, the players might get an X-ray in the hospital if they hurt their legs or arms. A dentist can use X-rays to look at teeth. And airport workers use an X-ray machine to check objects before a plane leaves. Nowadays, X-ray technology is widely used in medicine and other fields.
X-rays were first discovered (发现) by a German scientist, Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen (1845-1923). He found them quite by accident in 1895. One day, he discovered that an unknown kind of radiation (放射线) could hardly pass through hard objects like bones (骨头). Later, Rontgen took a photo of his wife’s hand. It clearly showed her ring and her bones. That was the first X-ray photo in the world.
Why is there an “X” in the word X-ray? It’s because Rontgen couldn’t explain exactly how it worked. He just knew that X-rays were new and useful for science. In fact, X-rays soon became an important tool in medicine. With the help of X-rays, doctors could see inside the human body for the first time without surgery (外科手术).
Rontgen was awarded the first Nobel Prize (诺贝尔奖) in physics in 1901 for his discovery. When he was asked what he was thinking at the moment of discovery, he replied, “I didn’t think. I investigated (研究).” Rontgen gave away his Nobel Prize money to his university. And he never took out any patents (专利权) on X-rays, to make sure that the world could freely make use of his discovery.
71. Where is X-ray technology widely used?
_______________________________________________________________
72. When were X-rays discovered?

Japan started putting nuclear-contaminated water (核污染水) into the ocean on Aug 24th, 2023. History will never forget this day.
A tsunami hit the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant (福岛第一核电站) in Japan in 2011. It broke the nuclear reactors (核反应堆), so the reactors became very hot. Since then, workers have been using a lot of water to keep them cool. The water touches the reactors, so it has a lot of radioactive materials (放射性物质).
Nuclear wastewater (核废水) is different. It’s the waste from a normal power plant. The rules on whether or not the wastewater can be put into the ocean are clear. So processed (处理过的) nuclear wastewater is often seen as safe. But nuclear-contaminated water is not.
Japan tries to mix the idea of the two kinds of water. The country says that the contaminated water goes through a special purifying process (过滤程序), and that it doesn’t hurt people’s health. However, the water has more than 60 kinds of radioactive materials. The materials will in the end hurt people’s health.

四. 阅读理解(共10小题,每小题2分,满分20分)
