DHow is your relationship with your parents?Do you feel loved by your parents? What
behaviour from your parents can make you feel loved?A recent study from Yale Child Study
Centre gives an answer.
2In the study, scientists invited parents and teenagers from 150 families to keep diaries
for 21 days.Participating teenagers were in Grade 8 or 9,aged from 14 to 16.
3By studying these diaries, scientists found that teenagers felt more loved on days when
parents showed more warmth to them,no matter how close parents and teenagers usually are.
Similarly, teenagers felt less loved on days when parents had more conflicts with them than
usual.More importantly, researchers also found that parents could weaken the influence of

I'm Jack,a middle school student.Last week,I had a really colourful time.At first,I was so
excited because I was going to become a team leader for a school project. However, after a short
time,I felt a bit stressed. There was so much to organize and I worried that I might not be able to
do a good job.
One day,I found that some of my teammates used my coloured pencils without asking for
permission.I really got angry at first. But after I calmed down,I realized that I should control my
anger. As a result, instead of getting mad,I decided to talk to my teammates and communicate
about the importance of asking before using others'things.
During the project, our group faced some difficulties. We seemed to be losing our way and
were in danger of missing the chance to win.I was disappointed, but I knew we couldn't give up.I
told my teammates,"We should work hard and solve these problems together. We believe in our
abilities."We believe in each other.
To make things better,I organized a group discussion. We talked about our ideas and plans. It
was great to see everyone participating actively. In the end,we came up with a good solution.
After all the hard work,we completed the project successfully. We even won one of the
prizes!I felt extremely happy.I realized that although there were challenges, with good
communication and the right attitude,we could overcome them.It was such a valuable experience.
And now,I am looking forward to more opportunities to be a team leader and grow from the
experience.
