Or in a waiting room full of strangers? Or on a bus? Researchers have 41 some interesting facts. Perhaps, we prefer to sit 42 to people like ourselves. Girls sit by girls and boys sit by boys. Adults sit together and young people choose another young person to sit near. We even choose to sit near someone 43 looks like us. People with glasses sit near 44 people with glasses. People with long hair sit closer to other people with long hair. We seem to believe 45 people with similar habits or hobbies will share similar attitude, or even we think we may be safer with people who look like us. Sometimes that’s true 46 it's a pity if we always stick to the same people, the same group. The 47 in always staying in our comfort zone (舒适区)is that we just recycle the same opinions, the same tastes and the same ideas. We lose the chance to learn 48 , find out about interesting things, hear funny stories and discover differences. Move 49 your comfort zone. Go and sit next to someone 50 . And don't just sit there in silence. Say hello. Ask a question. Start a conversation. That’s we make friends. That’s how we learn about people. That’s how we open our minds to new ideas. 41.A.looked for B.found out C.looked over D.made out 42.A.farther B.nearer C.closer D.smaller 43.A.what B.which C.whom D.who 44.A.other B.others C.the other D.another 45.A.that B.what C.if D.when 46.A./ B.and C.so D.but 47.A.advantage B.danger C.importance D.advice 48.A.everything new B.anything new C.nothing new D.something new 49.A.out of B.from C.into D.to 50.A.similar B.important C.different D.outgoing VII. (其中有两项为多余选项) A: Hi, Vince. A.Island Line——Tsuen Wan Line——Tung Chung Line B.Disneyland Resort Line——Tung Chung Line——Tsuen Wan Line C.Tsuen Wan Line——Tung Chung Line——Disneyland Resort Line D.Tsuen Wan Line——Tung Chung Line——West Rail Line——Disneyland Resort Line B When meeting strangers, we usually notice their hair, skin colour and clothes. We like to group those things we don’t know by comparing them with the things we know. So what’s wrong with this? For example, we think that short boys can’t possibly be good basketball players. The girls who love to be dressed up can’t be excellent students. Or we think shy students can’t be good at giving speeches. These are typical(典型的) examples of stereotypes. Stereotypes make people form a wrong opinion about others at first sight. In fact, it takes a lot more than just looking at a person to know and understand him or her. The following is my story. One day, it was snowing, but not very heavily. Before class, I collected all the exercise books and sent them to the teachers’ office. The exercise books looked piles in my arms, so I could hardly see the ground. Suddenly, I slipped over(滑倒) and dropped all the exercise books I was carrying. I tried to stand up but failed, I was about to pick them up when I saw a boy coming towards me. It was Mike. Mike and I had been classmates for over 2 years, but we had never shared more than 5 sentences together. He was a boy with few words, but I liked talking. We were totally different. I didn’t like him and didn’t want to be seen at that moment. “Anything serious?” His words brought me out of my thoughts. “I saw you sitting on the ground from the back window, so I rushed here. Let me help you!” He helped me up and picked all the exercise books up. Seeing this, I was so moved that I couldn’t say a single word. We walked towards the teachers’ office and this time, he talked a lot to me. I found quite a different Mike. I took a deep breath and said to myself, “I nearly made a big mistake — judging(判断) Mike only by his appearance.” 59.Which of the following is NOT mentioned as typical examples of stereotypes? A.Dishonest children can’t be others’ true friends. B.Shy students can’t be good at giving speeches. C.Short boys can’t possibly be good basketball players. D.The girls who love to be dressed up can’t be excellent students. 60.Why did the writer dislike Mike at the beginning? A.Because the writer didn’t know Mike at all. B.Because Mike didn’t hand in his exercise book. C.Because the writer thought they weren’t the same type. D.Because Mike didn’t help the writer collect the exercise books. 61.The writer probably wants to tell us ________. A.we’d better not go outside on snowy days B.we should get along well with our classmates C.people shouldn’t judge someone at first sight D.people with different personalities can’t be friends C As the sun sets, Fang Xuanling and Du Ruhui, two officials (官员) of the Tang Dynasty, show up at the Grand Tang Mall, or Da Tang Bu Ye Cheng in Chinese, in Xi’an. They come to find new talent for their emperor. They ask visitors several questions, and those who successfully provide the correct answers can get small gifts from these two officials. These scenes are played out in a show named Grand Tang Secret Box, which aims to (目的是) make more visitors know and like Chinese historical and cultural knowledge. This show has made the Grand Tang Mall become popular once again. In recent years, the Grand Tang Mall has hit the headlines several times. For example, it got popular in 2019 for its role-play performance. Why does the Grand Tang Mall have such a great success? Because the government of Xi’an develops its cultural tourism and keeps the vitality (活力) of traditional Chinese culture. Xi’an has a very long history. It is rich in historical and cultural treasures. To introduce its culture to more people and develop tourism, the government of Xi’an and local businesses have done everything to deepen the integration (一体化) of culture and tourism. They created many new cultural icons (偶像) in recent years, like the two officials of the Tang Dynasty. These icons have brought new life to Xi’an’s culture and drawn more visitors with their performances. Besides, Xi’an organized a lot of culture-themed events to interest more visitors. What they have done makes Xi’an one of the most popular tourist places in China. During the first half of this year, it received more than tens of millions of visitors. More visitors are packing into Xi’an. 62.What does the underlined word “They” refer to? A.Visitors. B.Emperors. C.Historians. D.Two officials. 63.How does Xi’an introduce its culture and develop its tourism? ①By providing excellent service. ②By creating many new cultural icons. ③By organizing a lot of culture-themed events. ④By making visitors taste different delicious food. A.①② B.②③ C.③④ D.②④ 64.What’s the third paragraph mainly about? A.Where to visit while traveling in Xi’ an. B.What the Grand Tang Mall is famous for. C.Why the Grand Tang Mall is successful. D.How to enjoy yourself in the Grand Tang Mall. 65.What’s the writer's purpose of writing the passage? A.To show Xi’an is the best place to travel. B.To make visitors have a good time in Xi’an. C.To tell us cultural tourism makes Xi’an popular. D.To introduce Xi’an to the people around the world. D Taking a gap year after high school is getting more popular among young adults each year. According to the American Gap Year Association (AGA), a gap year is often a year-long break taken between high school and college. AGA stresses that a gap year is a year on, rather than a year off, to oppose the belief that students are taking this time off as a vacation from schooling. Gap years offer an opportunity for experiential learning. They allow you to leave the classroom and learn new skills and ideas through doing something. You might find yourself in completely new situations that call for special problem-solving skills. Moreover, many students go through twelve years of schooling in the same place with the same group of people. By taking a gap year, they can step out of their comfort zone (区域) and into an entirely new culture. Just like gaining new experiences on a gap year, they can also meet new people of all different ages and walks of life. Finally, a gap year can also be a great way to get yourself recharged Instead of immediately jumping into the next four years of your education, you can take a break from the classroom and focus on your personal interests and passions. Many top universities encourage accepted students to take a gap year before starting college. However, before you get too excited about the idea of taking a gap year, you should also know about possible drawbacks. If you take a gap year, you could fall a year behind your peers (同伴). To catch up, you have to come up with a plan to graduate in three years. For the most part, studies show that students who take a gap year find themselves more driven when they arrive at college. However, you might find it difficult to return to an educational environment after taking a year away from the classroom. There is no set time-line for your education, and going straight from high school to college definitely isn't for everyone. For me personally, I still benefit from my gap year experience traveling in European countries. Cap years can take a number of forms, and they require a good deal of intention and planning. So if you have a will-thought-out plan for taking a gap year, then you should feel confident in your decision. Taking a meaningful gap year could be one of the best life experiences you ever have! 66.According to the passage, by taking a gap year, students can __________. A.become more popular among their friends B.catch with their peers at study in college C.build a stronger relationship between learning and doing D.realize the importance of staying in their comfortable zone 67.What can we learn from the passage? A.Students should be encouraged to have a time off for a vacation after high school. B.Colleges should require students to spend their gap year traveling in Europe. C.It's better to recharge yourself by going straight from high school to college. D.A gap year provides students with an opportunity for personal growth. 68.Which of the following would be the best title for the passage? A.Take a gap year on B.Gap years: a perfect holiday C.The risk of taking a gap year D.How to take a meaningful gap year E When you find math hard, you usually ask teachers or parents for help. But now, doctors can help you too! On Oct 8, Shanghai opened a special clinic (门诊) for children who have problems with math and spatial (空间的) understanding. On that day, six students went there with their parents. At the clinic, doctors checked how well the students understood math and their spatial skills, and then made plans to help them learn better. They even had special educational games with VR and AR technologies to help students. A recent study found that about 8.97 percent of children at primary school on the Chinese mainland (中国大陆) have trouble with math and spatial skills, reported Shanghai Daily. Among them, 11.57 percent are in low grades, 10.07 percent are in middle grades and 4.76 percent are in high grades. The clinic is open every Tuesday. It’s very popular with days getting fully booked. Special clinics for helping with learning problems are becoming common in China, especially in big cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu, and Nanjing. However, experts remind parents that these clinics may help students, but they can’t magically (神奇地) turn them into top students. It’s more important to have realistic (实际的) expectations. Shi Ping from Tianjin Children’s Hospital told China Daily that putting too much pressure on kids can sometimes make learning harder. Parents should think about how they teach their kids and consider making some changes. After all, just as an expert said, “Doing well in school shouldn’t be the only thing that matters in a child’s life.” 69.The special clinic in Shanghai was opened to ________. A.provide free math courses for B.help children build interest in math C.help children with math difficulties D.do research on children’s learning abilities 70.What can we learn from the recent study? A.Few children have strong spatial skills. B.Younger kids are more likely to have trouble with math. C.Over 10 percent of children have problems with math. D.Math problems mostly happen to primary school children. 71.What advice does Shi Ping give to parents? A.Focus more on children’s mental health. B.Encourage their children to work harder. C.Change how they teach their children. D.Children sometimes need some pressure. 72.What do the experts think about the clinic? A.It doesn’t help much with math problems. B.People shouldn’t expect it to solve all problems. C.Parents and children depend too much on it. D.Working hard on math weighs more than going to a clinic. 21.—Dad, I hand out all the leaflets in front of the shopping mall?   —No, you . You may try another public place. A.could; couldn’t B.must; needn’t C.need; can’t D.may; shouldn’t 【答案】B 【难度】0.4 【知识点】must表示必须 【详解】句意:- 爸爸,我必须在商场前面把所有的传单分发出去吗? May/Could I…? 否定回答是:No, sb. needn't.,本题的语境也不是在问“必须…?”,must I …? B。 22.Their parents don’t allow them_______ in the river because it’s really dangerous. A.swim B.swimming C.to swim D.swam 【答案】C 【难度】0.4 【知识点】动词不定式作宾语补足语 【详解】考查非谓语动词。 allow sb. to do sth. C。 23._________people visited Hongyadong, Chongqing on May Day this year. A.Thousand B.Thousands C.Thousand of D.Thousands of 【答案】D 【难度】0.4 【知识点】hundred/thousand等大数的表达 【详解】考查数词的用法。 24.—The streets of our city are beautiful! -Yes, it will be more beautiful if more trees and grass __ by us. A.plant B.planted C.is planted D.are planted 【答案】D 【难度】0.4 【知识点】语法一致、条件状语从句、一般现在时的被动语态 【详解】句意:-我们城市的街道真漂亮! A. plant动词,种;B. planted过去式或过去分词;C. is planted被动结构;D. are planted被动结构。 D。 25.—Our school soccer team won the first prize just now. —_________ exciting news it is! A.What B.How C.What a D.What an 【答案】A 【难度】0.4 【知识点】what引导的感叹句 【详解】句意:-我们学校足球队刚刚获得一等奖。 What+( a/an)+(形容词)+名词+主语+谓语+其他! How+句子! 故选A。 26.—When did the Whites come to China? —They_____ China for seven years. A.have come to B.have been in C.have come in D.have been to 【答案】B 【难度】0.4 【知识点】现在完成时、固定搭配/句型 【详解】句意:-怀特一家什么时候来中国的? A. have come to 已经来到...;B. have been in 已在...,表示已在某地;C. have come in 已经来在...;D. have been to已经去过...,表示曾经去过某地。 B。 27.The old couple ________not to trust any strangers when they were cheated last time. A.take place B.had taken place C.have taken place D.took place 【答案】C 【难度】0.4 【知识点】现在完成时 【详解】句意:电影《了不起的中国》让我们看到中国在过去的几年里发生了巨大的变化。A. take place发生; B. had taken place过去完成时态;C. have taken place 现在完成时态;D. took place过去式。in the past years. C。 29.--Excuse me, could you please tell me if the sports meeting_______on time? --It’s hard to say. If it rains tomorrow, we’ll have to put it off. A.is held B.will be held C.has been held D.was held 【答案】B 【难度】0.4 【知识点】一般将来时的被动语态 【详解】句意:-打搅了,你能告诉我运动会是否会如期举行吗? A. is held 一般现在时态的被动语态,被举行;B. will be held 一般将来时态的被动语态,将被举行;C. has been held现在完成时态的被动语态;D. was held一般过去时态的被动语态。 B。 30.Alice expected ________ some time to herself at weekends when she was a student. A.we’d better not go outside on snowy days B.we should get along well with our classmates C.people shouldn’t judge someone at first sight D.people with different personalities can’t be friends 【答案】59.A 60.C 61.C 【难度】0.4 【知识点】个人经历、记叙文、哲理感悟 【分析】本文主要通过作者的经历讲述了人们通常会因为某个人的外表和性别而产生一些偏见,这种想法是不对的,并列举了一些偏见的例子。 59. 根据“For example, we think that short boys can’t possibly be good basketball players. They created many new cultural icons in recent years... Besides, Xi’an organized a lot of culture-themed events to interest more visitors”可知,西安通过“打造新的文化符号”和“举办文化主题活动”来介绍文化、发展旅游,对应②和③;而“提供优质服务”①和“让游客品尝美食”④在文中未提及。故选B。 64. 根据第三段开头“Why does the Grand Tang Mall have such a great success?” 文章先介绍大唐不夜城因文化表演走红,再分析其成功原因是西安发展文化旅游、深化文旅融合,最后提到“What they have done makes Xi’an one of the most popular tourist places in China”,由此可推断,作者写这篇文章的目的是“告诉我们文化旅游让西安变得受欢迎”。故选C。 D Taking a gap year after high school is getting more popular among young adults each year. A.Take a gap year on B.Gap years: a perfect holiday C.The risk of taking a gap year D.How to take a meaningful gap year 【答案】66.C 67.D 68.A 【难度】0.4 【知识点】最佳标题、推理判断、议论文、教育、计划 【分析】间隔年就是在高中和大学期间,有一年的时间,学生们可以做自己想做的事情。 根据“Gap years offer an opportunity for experiential learning. They allow you to leave the classroom and learn new skills and ideas through doing something.” 根据“Finally, a gap year can also be a great way to get yourself recharged (重新充电).” A。 E When you find math hard, you usually ask teachers or parents for help. 根据“On Oct 8, Shanghai opened a special clinic (门诊) for children who have problems with math and spatial (空间的) understanding.” 根据“Among them, 11.57 percent are in low grades, 10.07 percent are in middle grades and 4.76 percent are in high grades.” 根据“Parents should think about how they teach their kids and consider making some changes.” 根据“However, experts remind parents that these clinics may help students, but they can’t magically (神奇地) turn them into top students.” Daniel Wu is a well-known and popular actor admired by many people for his good looks and excellent acting skills.
