Have you ever wondered how many calories (卡路里) are in your lunch? A new app called Cal AI can help. All you have to do is take a photo of your food, and the app will tell you how many calories it includes.
Cal AI was created by Zach Yadegari, an 18-year-old student. In 2023, Zach tried using another calorie-counting app to record his meals. But typing in everything he ate took too much time. “It was very boring and hard to use,” Zach said.
Zach wanted something faster and smarter. So, he teamed up with his high school friends to make a better app. Together, they trained Cal AI using images (图像) from three different AI models. The app can now recognize both simple and complex (复杂的) foods, like sandwiches, mixed bowls, and snacks.
Today, Cal AI is 90% accurate, and it keeps improving with help from users. Since it was posted in May 2024, it has been downloaded over five million times. In February 2025 alone, the app made over $2 million!
One big reason for its success is social media. Zach reaches out to fitness influencers and asks them to talk about Cal AI. Their followers see the posts, try the app and share it with others.
Zach wants to make Cal AI even better and help people of all ages eat more healthily. He’s just getting started.
62. Why did Zach create Cal AI?
A. Because he needed money for college.
B. Because his friends invited him to do it.
C. Because he wanted to be a big influencer.
D. Because other apps are slow and difficult to use.
63. How does the writer show the success of Cal AI in paragraph 4?
A. By giving examples. B. By listing numbers.
C. By comparing facts. D. By describing steps.
64. What does the underlined word “accurate” in paragraph 4 mean?
A. Easy to use. B. Expensive to buy.
C. Correct and exact. D. Beautiful and creative.
65. What is the purpose of the text?
A. To explain how AI technology helps humans.
B. To teach people how to count calories correctly.
C. To show how a young person solved a problem.
D. To compare different mobile apps in many ways.
D 63. B 64. C 65. C
第二段明确指出“But typing in everything he ate took too much time. ‘It was very boring and hard to use,’ Zach said.”,但手动输入吃掉的所有食物太耗费时间了。
第四段明确指出“Since it was posted in May 2024, it has been downloaded over five million times. In February 2025 alone, the app made over $2 million!”,自2024年5月发布以来,它的下载量已经超过500万次。
第四段明确指出“Today, Cal AI is 90% accurate, and it keeps improving with help from users.”,如今,Cal AI的识别准确率达到90%,并且在用户的使用反馈下持续优化升级。

D
Chimpanzees (黑猩猩) sometimes use leaves or insects as medicine like we humans. Do you know they can also give “first aid” to each other? Scientists studying in Uganda found this.
Chimpanzees are closely related to humans, so scientists study them a lot. For example, when they are sick or hurt, they find ways to care for themselves.
In 2021, Dr Elodie Freymann went to Uganda to study chimpanzees in the forest. She wanted to learn how they deal with their wounds. Her team looked over 30 years of research records and spent eight months studying two groups of chimpanzees.
They found 34 examples of chimpanzees taking care of their own wounds, often by licking (舔) them or chewing (嚼) plant leaves and putting on them. Licking can clean cuts and stop them getting worse. Some plant leaves can do this, too.
Even more interesting were the seven examples of chimpanzees helping others. In one example, a young chimp sucked (吮吸) on another one’s leg to help clean the wound.
A big question is whether these actions are natural or taught. In one example, a young chimp watched her mother chew a leaf and put it on a cut. Freymann thinks some actions are natural, but others are taught. She plans to keep studying to find out more.
66. How did Freymann’s team do the research?
A. They studied records and watched Chimpanzees.
B. They tried to interview the Chimpanzees in a way.
C. They asked local people and recorded all the information.
D. They did some experiments about Chimpanzees in the lab.
67. What does the underlined word “them” in paragraph 4 refer to (指的是)?
A. The wounds. B. The plant leaves.
C. The scientists. D. The chimpanzee babies.
68. What does the example in the last paragraph show?
A. Mother chimpanzees are the best doctors.
B. Young chimpanzees are smarter than adults.
C. Chimpanzees may learn skills from each other.
D. Chimpanzees can remember things for a long time.
69. What is the best title (标题) for the text?
A. Wildlife wonders: Self-saving in nature.
B. Forest researchers: Scientists in Uganda.
C. Chimpanzee doctors: First aid in the forest.
D. Animal learners: Chimpanzees get new skills.
A 67. A 68. C 69. C

第三段明确提到“Her team looked over 30 years of research records and spent eight months studying two groups of chimpanzees.”,这说明Freymann的团队通过研究记录和观察黑猩猩来进行研究。
第四段提到“They found 34 examples of chimpanzees taking care of their own wounds, often by licking (舔) them or chewing (嚼) plant leaves and putting on them.”,这说明下划线单词“them”指代的是前文提到的“their own wounds”。
最后一段“In one example, a young chimp watched her mother chew a leaf and put it on a cut. Freymann thinks some actions are natural, but others are taught. She plans to keep studying to find out more.”

My brother and I had counted down the days to a live performance by a singer we liked. When that night finally arrived, it was far more amazing than I expected!
It was a warm summer evening at an open-air theatre. When the first deep note rang out, everything changed. It wasn’t just music anymore — it was something bigger. You could feel it in the way the crowd moved. Strangers danced freely and laughed together. That moment stayed with me.
Another unforgettable experience happened when I was 18. I got a summer job at a restaurant. At first, I kept messing up orders, and couldn’t remember table numbers. I felt disappointed.
But something changed over time. My workmate Maria taught me ways to remember different orders and Joey showed me how to deal with rude (粗鲁的) customers. Every mistake became a lesson.
Then, something surprising happened. I was offered the manager position. I couldn’t believe it! Months earlier, I could hardly carry three plates without dropping one. Now I was in a leadership role.
These two experiences have changed how I see the world. That night has taught me that we all truly want the same things: joy and belonging. My summer at that restaurant has taught me that real growth happens through challenges, and that staying positive can turn hard situations into chances.
73. What happened to people when the performance started?
_____________________________________________________________________________________________
74. Why did the writer feel disappointed at first in the restaurant?
