Weiqi, commonly known as Go in English, is a board game that originated (起源) in ancient China. The game is considered one of the Four Arts that Chinese literati (文人) were required to master. Besides Weiqi, they had to learn Chinese calligraphy, painting and guqin playing.
Weiqi has a history of over 4,000 years, even older than Chinese chess. According to some historical records, the game, known as Yi in its early years, is said to have been invented by Yao (尧). Seeing that his son had a bad temper (脾气), Yao was really worried. So he decided to find something that could help educate his son, and a simple board game came to him.
The rules of Weiqi are simple: using black and white stones (棋子), two players take turns placing their stones on empty cross points of the board. The goal is to surround (包围) a larger total area on the board while preventing one’s own stones from being taken by the opponent (对手). Stones do not move and are only taken off the board if they are completely surrounded.
The scene of two people playing Weiqi appears in many traditional Chinese paintings. In one famous painting, there is a player holding a stone over the board, looking for a place to put it. Later, this scene was turned into a popular Chinese idiom (成语), which means “unsure about making a move”. The expression is still widely used today.
With its development, Weiqi grew in popularity. Later, it spread to Japan, South and North Korea and Western countries. Today, it has become an international board game.
20. Why did Yao invent Weiqi according to the historical records?
A. To help educate his son.
B. To spread Chinese culture.
C. To compete with other kings.
21. Which Chinese idiom has the meaning of the underlined expression “unsure about making a move”?
A. 观棋不语 B. 举棋不定 C. 出其不意
22. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Weiqi has a history of more than 5,000 years.
B. Weiqi has become more and more popular around the world.
C. The player who surrounds a smaller total area wins the game.
23. What is the main purpose of the passage?
A. To compare Weiqi with other board games.
B. To explain the rules and popularity of Weiqi.
C. To introduce the history, rules and development of Weiqi.

Chen Jie is a 15-year-old student from Hangzhou. Like many teenagers, she faces a lot of homework every day. Sometimes she stays up late to finish it. But recently, she found a “helper” — an AI learning app on her phone.
The app can solve math problems in seconds. It can also write English articles and explain difficult physics knowledge. At first, Chen Jie only used it when she really couldn’t solve a problem. But slowly, she started to depend on it more and more. “It’s so convenient,” she said. “When I’m tired, I just take a photo of my homework, and the app gives me the answers. I don’t need to think too hard.”
However, her mother noticed the change. “She used to spend hours working on difficult problems. Now she finishes homework in 30 minutes but can’t explain how she got the answers,” her mother said worriedly. Last week, Chen Jie failed her math exam. The questions were similar to her homework, but without the app, she didn’t know how to solve them.
Teachers are also discussing this new challenge. “AI is a powerful tool, but students must use it wisely,” said Mr. Zhang, Chen Jie’s math teacher. “If you use AI instead of your thinking, you’re not learning — you’re just copying. The brain is like a machine. If you don’t exercise it, it becomes weak.”
Some schools are now teaching students how to use AI properly. They suggest using AI to check answers after trying by yourself, or to explain the knowledge you don’t understand. The key is to let AI be a helper, not a cheat.
As for Chen Jie, she has used the app wisely now. “I realized that quick answers don’t mean real learning. I want to understand, not just finish,” she said. Now she only uses AI to review after finishing her work independently.
The rise of AI in education brings both opportunities and challenges. While it can make learning more efficient (高效的), it also tests students’ self-control. The question is not whether to use AI, but how to use it without losing our ability to think.
24. Why did Chen Jie start using the AI learning app?
A. Because her mother bought it for her.
B. Because her teacher asked her to use it.
C. Because it could help her solve difficult problems.
25. What does Mr. Zhang mean by saying “The brain is like a machine”?
A. The brain can get hurt easily.
B. Thinking makes the brain stronger.
C. The brain needs food to work well.
26. Why does the writer use Chen Jie’s story?
A. To show AI learning apps are popular among teenagers.
B. To explain why students should not use AI learning apps.
C. To introduce the opportunities and challenges of AI in education.
27. What can we infer from the passage?
A. AI learning apps are useless for students’ study.
B. Chen Jie will no longer use the AI learning app.
C. Using AI properly can help students with their study.

“Mirror of the sky”: Uyuni Salt Flats
The Uyuni Salt Flats, located in southwestern Bolivia, is known as the “Mirror of the Sky”. After the rain, this place looks like a mirror. It reflects the sky so perfectly that you can’t tell where the ground ends and where the sky begins. The amazing mirror effect doesn’t come out of thin air. It is made possible by three key factors (要素).
The first and most important factor is the flat ground. The ground of the Uyuni Salt Flats is one of the flattest on Earth. The salt flat was formed when ancient lakes dried up over time. When the water of these lakes evaporated (蒸发), a thick and flat layer (层) of salt was left behind. This made the ground almost perfectly flat. Therefore, when it rains, the water doesn’t collect in water holes. Instead, it forms an even layer of water on the top of the salt. This is what creates the huge natural mirror.
The rainfall (降雨量) also plays an important role. It can’t be a storm. Just enough rain to cover the layer of salt is perfect. If the rain is heavy, water holes will form and the mirror effect will be lost. The mirror effect mainly appears during the rainy season, which runs from December to March.
Besides, calm weather is necessary for the clear mirror effect. Even a small wind can make waves on the water. These waves will break up the clear reflection and take away the magical experience.
In short, the Uyuni Salt Flats is famous for its amazing “sky mirror” scene, which is created by its extremely flat land, proper rainfall and calm weather. Come and enjoy this fantastic natural scenery!
28. What does “It” in paragraph 1 refer to?
A. The Uyuni Salt Flats.
B. The mirror.
C. The sky.
29. What are the key factors for the mirror effect?
① flat ground ② rainfall ③ calm weather ④season
A. ①③④ B. ②③④ C. ①②③
30. When is the best time to visit the Uyuni Salt Flats?
A. May. B. July. C. February.
31. Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage? (P=Paragraph)
A. B. C.

The sweetest memory of my childhood is about a round table. When I was still little, my whole family would get together on different traditional festivals to have dinner. We kids would be sitting around or playing hide-and-seek under the table while the grown-ups were having a discussion.
When I got a bit older, my aunt brought back her boyfriend and my grandma cheerfully added another seat to the round table. It seemed a little more crowded, but we all felt much closer to each other. When I was twelve, my grandpa passed away. That made us feel sad. However, when the whole family got together once again, we totally agreed that his chair, his bowl and his chopsticks should remain the same. In this way, we felt that he had never left us, even though his seat was empty.
We all have a table like this in our homes. It is a sign of reunion of our family showing our feelings. Although the reason why we come together may be different, the feelings behind it are the same. Usually different cultures are accepted by Chinese people around the table. What’s more, we express the love not only for our family, but also for a community, our nation and even the whole world.
The history of our nation has been the stories of looking for or running to the round table which we belong to. The round table has been a symbol of the Chinese feelings. It was, it is and will always be.

【答案】20. A 21. B 22. B 23. C

【答案】24. C 25. B 26. C 27. C
【解析】
【导语】本文通过陈杰使用AI学习软件的经历,探讨了AI在教育中的机遇与挑战。
【24题详解】
文中提到“At first, Chen Jie only used it when she really couldn’t solve a problem”,说明她一开始用AI学习软件是为了解决难题,对应选项C。
【25题详解】
根据第4段“The brain is like a machine. If you don’t exercise it, it becomes weak.”可知,张老师这句话想要表达大脑需要通过思考锻炼,不锻炼就会变弱,也就是思考能让大脑更强。
【26题详解】
根据最后一段“The rise of AI in education brings both opportunities and challenges.”
根据第5段“The key is to let AI be a helper, not a cheat.”和第6段“Now she only uses AI to review after finishing her work independently.”可知,合理使用AI可以帮助学生学习;“AI对学生学习没用”不符合文意,“陈洁再也不会用AI学习应用”也和原文矛盾
