Many children enjoy climbing. Have you ever climbed a tree, a wall or a jungle gym (攀爬架)? What did you enjoy about it?
As a little girl, I loved climbing the tallest trees to see the world from up high. Growing up in the flat city, there were few chances for me to climb high. But in high school, I found my love for climbing again, and now I can’t imagine my life without it.
At first, I was a bit impatient when climbing. I would try to find out how to climb the wall quickly, making quick decisions as I went. But this tired me out soon after I started climbing. I realized I needed to change my method. Now, before I climb, I first picture the problem in my mind, using my hands to feel the holds. It’s like playing a game of chess—I plan my moves step by step. If I get stuck, I talk to other experienced climbers for advice. I learn new skills and make new friends this way. Being part of the climbing community, I have communicated better with others.
One of the best things about climbing is that there’s no single right way to climb a wall and there’s always a new challenge. I just focus on reaching the top and forget my worries.
Climbing teaches me patience, teamwork and determination (决心). I don’t say “I can’t.” anymore. Instead, I face challenges with confidence. If one plan doesn’t work, I try another way. I’m OK with making decisions, even if I’m not sure what will happen. Through climbing, I’ve strengthened both my body and my mind, realizing the value of problem solving along the way.

Have you ever dreamed of turning something you love into your job? It sounds perfect, but it can be a hard choice. Some people worry if a hobby becomes work, it may no longer bring them joy. So how do you know if it’s right for you?
Tracy once worked as a translator, but lost interest over time. What she really loved was cycling (骑车). She learned to fix bikes and took a job at a local bike shop. She enjoyed it so much that she opened her own shop for women cyclists (骑手). At first, everything went well and she felt happy every day. But soon, she found that what she truly loved was riding bikes, not repairing them. Instead of giving up, she changed her plan. She began to organize cycling events and let others do the repairs. This change brought her both success and joy.
Jack had a different story. He was a professor (教授) of law, but he felt unhappy with his work. While playing with his children on the beach, he started making sculptures (雕塑) from sand and stone. The more he did it, the more it meant to him. He thought about selling his art, but decided not to. He loved creating too much to make it a business. Instead, he showed his works in shows and exchanged them for other things. Now he works part-time as a professor and spends more time on his art. Now he lives a relaxing life, which makes him very happy without the pressure of making money.
These stories show there is no single answer. Some mix their hobby with work; others keep them apart (分开的). Whether you turn your hobby into a job or not, the most important thing is to keep the joy alive.
9. Why did Tracy learn bicycle repairs?
A. Because she wanted to get a job she really loved. B. Because she needed more money for her cycling.
C. Because she listened to her parents’ suggestions. D. Because she found her job as a translator funny.
10. How did Tracy’s feelings change in Paragraph 2?
A. Bored — excited — pleased. B. Tired — disappointed — afraid.
C. Surprised — worried — excited. D. Worried — hopeful — interested.
11. What can we learn from Jack’s decision?
A. He cared more about sharing than selling. B. He wanted to become famous for his art.
C. He believed art could bring more money. D. He thought law was more important than art.
12. How does the writer show the main idea of the text?
A. By offering advice. B. By explaining steps. C. By giving examples. D. By listing advantages.
【答案】9. A 10. A 11. A 12. C
【解析】
【导语】本文通过Tracy和Jack的例子,探讨了将爱好转化为工作的不同方式,强调无论如何选择,保持爱好带来的快乐才是最重要的。
【9题详解】
原文第2段提到“Tracy once worked as a translator, but lost interest over time. What she really loved was cycling. She learned to fix bikes and took a job at a local bike shop”,说明Tracy学修自行车是因为她想做一份自己真正热爱的工作。
Jack“thought about selling his art, but decided not to. He loved creating too much to make it a business. Instead, he showed his works in shows and exchanged them for other things”,说明Jack更看重分享而不是售卖作品。
【12题详解】
全文通过Tracy和Jack两个具体例子来阐述将爱好与工作结合或分开的不同方式,所以作者是通过举例子的方式来表达主旨的。

Have you ever thought of travelling into space? For people in China, that dream is coming true. From film stars to scientists, more than 20 famous people in China have booked seats on the country’s first commercial (商业的) spaceflight.

The company plans to send its first passengers into space by 2028. The spaceship, called CYZ1, can carry six people.

A. She used to be confident in making decisions. B. She only climbs by herself to focus on the top.

8. What is the writer’s main purpose in writing the text?
A. To explain how to join a climbing community. B. To describe the reason why she loved climbing.

D
Have you ever thought of travelling into space? For people in China, that dream is coming true. From film stars to scientists, more than 20 famous people in China have booked seats on the country’s first commercial (商业的) spaceflight.
The tickets are sold by a Beijing space company. Each seat costs 3 million yuan. That sounds like a lot, but it is much cheaper than a trip with Elon Musk’s SpaceX, which can cost up to $50 million. To save a seat, passengers must pay a 10% deposit (定金) for a seat on SpaceX.
The company plans to send its first passengers into space by 2028. The spaceship, called CYZ1, can carry six people. After launch (发射), it will separate from the rocket at about 70 kilometers above the ground. Then it will cross the Kármán Line, the widely accepted line of space. After that, it will return safely to Earth with parachutes (降落伞).
Some of the passengers include scientist Li Licheng, poet Lin Xiaoyan, and actor Huang Jingyu. In a video released (发行) by the company, one passenger said, “The world always needs a few people who are a little crazy.”
China is backing commercial space travel more than ever. In 2025, the China National Space Administration (管理部门) carried out a plan to give companies more chances to use rocket test facilities (设施). The space industry is also listed as a key industry in China’s latest Five-Year Plan.
Other Chinese companies are also joining the race. One company even sold two tickets during a livestream (直播). Each ticket required a 50,000-yuan deposit. Space travel may soon become possible for more people in China. Are you brave enough to join them on a trip to the stars?

A. $3 million. B. $50,000. C. $5 million. D. $50 million.
