Long ago, in ancient China, there was a story about the invention of silk. People believed that silk was first invented by Leizu, the wife of the Yellow Emperor. Leizu learned how to make cocoons (蚕茧) into soft and strong cloth. This magical cloth became known as “silk”. Following kings’ orders, the Chinese kept the secret of making silk for centuries.
But then, something amazing happened during the Han Dynasty, the brave officer Zhang Qian travelled west as far as Central Asia and brought silk there. As years passed, silk became so important that the trade road from China to Europe got its name—the Silk Road.
Traders on the Silk Road crossed deserts and mountains. They traded silk and tea from China for Western treasures such as spices (香料), gold, and silver. At the very beginning, it was mainly about trade; then people began to share ideas, technologies and cultures. For example, Chinese inventions like paper making were spread to the West, while new ideas about maths and science came to China. Most importantly, the Silk Road helped different cultures learn from each other. Art, music and even language were shared along this ancient road.
The story of the Silk Road tells us how people from distant lands could become friends through trade and shared ideas. Today, we remember the Silk Road as one of the greatest examples of cooperation (合作) and exchange in history. It shows us that different cultures can work together to create amazing things.

A new and exciting invention now allows deaf people to see conversations in real time. Using augmented reality (AR) glasses and a smartphone, deaf and hearing-impaired (听力受损的) people are also able to join in everyday conversations.
The AR glasses were developed by Dan Scarfe after he had Christmas dinner with his family. The man saw his 97-year-old hearing-impaired grandfather sitting alone in silence while the rest of the family were talking excitedly. The images of his grandfather always watching TV shows with subtitles (字幕) crossed Scarfe’s mind. He suddenly realized that maybe the AR glasses could help.
Scarfe got to work, partnering with Nreal, an AR glasses maker. Six months later, a new pair of AR glasses came out.
The glasses have a microphone that receives the audio (音频) from the environment and sends it to a connected smartphone. The phone then creates subtitles from that audio. By special software, these subtitles then appear on the user’s glasses screen.
The company first tested the glasses in the UK. The UK was chosen as a testing ground because over 12 million adults in Britain have hearing loss. However, when the product goes global, it could change the lives of some 430 million people. This represents 5% of the world’s population and includes 70 million people with total hearing loss.
This is a game changer for the deaf. Mark Atkinson, who is using the AR glasses, says, “As a deaf person myself, I am blown away by this new technology. When I tried on the glasses for the first time, I was so surprised. Real-time subtitles made me become part of the conversation as never before.”
28. What tools must a deaf person have if he wants to join the conversation?
①A computer. ②A mobile phone. ③A pair of AR glasses.
A. ①② B. ②③ C. ①③
29. Who made Dan Scarfe want to develop the AR glasses?
A. His father. B. His partner. C. His grandfather.
30. Why was the UK chosen as a testing ground for the AR glasses?
A. It has a large population with hearing loss.
B. The government provided the money.
C. Dan Scarfe is from the UK.
31. What can we infer (推断) from the passage about the AR glasses?
A. They can cure people’s hearing loss completely.
B. They will only be used in the UK in the future.
C. They can turn environmental audio into real-time subtitles on the glasses screen.

Many students think math is difficult. They spend hours but still make mistakes in exams. The truth is, math is not just about remembering—— it’s about understanding. Here are some tips to help you learn math better.
Understand, don’t just memorize. When you learn a new formula, ask yourself why it works. For example, the area of a triangle(三角形) is 1/2 × base × height. Why? Because a triangle is half of a rectangle. Understanding the “why” helps you remember longer and use it in different situations.
Practice every day. Math is like a sport —— you need to practice to get better. Do a few problems each day instead of many problems at once before a test. This keeps your brain sharp(敏捷的) and helps you remember.
Learn from mistakes. When you get a wrong answer, don’t just move on. Find out where you went wrong. Did you misunderstand the question? Did you make a careless mistake? Did you use the wrong formula? Learning from mistakes is the fastest way to improve.
Connect math to real life. Math is everywhere! When you shop, work out how much you need to pay. When you cook, find out the right amount of food to use. When you play sports, think about angles(倾斜角度) and speed. Seeing math in real life makes it more interesting and meaningful.
Ask questions. If you don’t understand something, ask your teacher or classmates. No question is too silly. Remember, every question you ask brings you one step closer to understanding.
Math may seem hard at first, but with the right methods and enough practice, anyone can become good at it. The key is to keep trying and never give up.
32. How many tips does the writer give the readers?
A. Three. B. Four. C. Five.
33. The writer thinks that a good way to understand a new math formula is to ________.
A. ask why it works
B. use it to finish difficult problems
C. write it down without thinking
34. How does the writer support the idea “Learn from mistakes”?
A. By giving examples. B. By quoting experts. C. By giving facts and numbers.
35. What is the main idea of this passage?
A. Math is the most difficult subject in school.
B. Students should memorize formulas to do well in math.
C. Some useful ways to help learn math better.

Nowadays, typing or texting is taking the place of the strokes (笔画) of Chinese characters. For this reason, people are paying less attention to handwriting. As a result, they can’t even remember exactly how to write a given character sometimes. This is called “character amnesia (提笔忘字)”.
To change the situation, the TV program named Chinese Character Dictation (听写) Competition came out. Meng Man, who teaches at Minzu University of China, took part in the competition as a judge. “I was surprised by some competitors because I couldn’t even remember how to write certain characters, but they could,” she said. “Now many adults have trouble writing Chinese characters. The program is really great, since it draws people’s attention to this problem.”
When typing or texting, most people use a system where they type out the pinyin of a character and then get a list of all possible Chinese characters. They just need to choose the one they want from the list. The bad thing about the system is that it stops people from thinking about how a Chinese character is formed.
“Chinese characters are usually square. They teach people to be upright (正直的).Typing or texting will influence people’s understanding of the traditional culture behind the Chinese characters,” Meng said.
To solve the problem of “character amnesia”, experts suggest that people change their mobile phone texting way from pinyin to handwriting. In this way, they can avoid forgetting how to write characters.

24. Who was believed to have first invented silk?
A. The Yellow Emperor. B. The Chinese kings. C. Leizu.
25. Why was the trade road called the Silk Road?
A. Because only silk was traded on it.
B. Because silk was the key trade product.
C. Because Zhang Qian took silk there.
26. Which of the following things were spread to the West through the Silk Road?
①Silk cloth ②Tea leaves ③Paper making ④Ideas about maths and science
A. ①②③ B. ①②④ C. ①③④
27. What is the best title for the text?
A. The Invention of Silk
B. The Yellow Emperor’s Orders
C. The History of the Silk Road
C 25. B 26. A 27. C
第一段明确提到“People believed that silk was first invented by Leizu, the wife of the Yellow Emperor”,由此可知人们认为最早发明丝绸的人是嫘祖。
文中第二段提到“As years passed, silk became so important that the trade road from China to Europe got its name—the Silk Road.”,说明丝绸之路得名的原因是丝绸是这条商路上的核心贸易商品,因此被命名为“丝绸之路”。
C
B 29. C 30. A 31. C
文章第1段“Using augmented reality (AR) glasses and a smartphone, deaf and hearing-impaired people are also able to join in everyday conversations.”
文章第2段“The man saw his 97-year-old hearing-impaired grandfather sitting alone in silence while the rest of the family were talking excitedly... He suddenly realized that maybe the AR glasses could help.”
文章第5段“The UK was chosen as a testing ground because over 12 million adults in Britain have hearing loss.”
文章第4段“The glasses have a microphone that receives the audio from the environment and sends it to a connected smartphone. The phone then creates subtitles from that audio. By special software, these subtitles then appear on the user’s glasses screen.”

C 33. A 34. A 35. C

Being a teenager is not easy these days. You have to face new problems and try to find out how to deal with them. And then there are worries of school grades and future jobs. You need to find out what you like and start doing it.
Teenagers have always had these problems, but young people today live in a world that is changing so fast. ____36____ This can be good as it means more chances. But it can also be a bad thing as it may cause “mental internal friction (精神内耗)”.
Scientists say that “mental internal friction” happens when people have to think a lot in order to be able to move from “old ideas” to “new ideas”. They have to ask themselves such questions as “Are the new ideas good?” and “Will they make me feel happy?” It is difficult to find the answers, especially for young people. ____37____ So they may feel tired, unhappy and even have trouble sleeping at night.
____38____ There are some ways to solve them.
First, you must know yourself, as Aristotle put it, “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom (智慧) .” Second, develop new interests. ____39____ He said that learning about “old things” made it easier for him to deal with the “new things” in modern life. ____40____ Connecting with nature can help you know yourself and make you feel relaxed.
A. They will have too many choices.
B. But don’t lose heart if you have these problems.
C. A friend of mine decided to learn about Beijing Opera.
D. You are wondering how to fit into (适应) your new school.
E. The third thing you can do is to spend time in nature.
F. That’s because they are still too young to make the right choices.
A 37. F 38. B 39. C 40. E
上文提到“young people today live in a world that is changing so fast”,下文说“This can be good as it means more chances.”,说明如今的年轻人面临很多新的机会和选择。A选项“They will have too many choices.”
上文说“It is difficult to find the answers, especially for young people.”,下文又提到“So they may feel tired, unhappy…”,说明年轻人难以作出正确判断。F选项“That’s because they are still too young to make the right choices.”
下文提到“There are some ways to solve them.”,说明后文将介绍解决问题的方法。B选项“But don’t lose heart if you have these problems.”
上文说“Second, develop new interests.”,下文提到“He said that learning about ‘old things’ made it easier…”,这里的“He”应指代前面提到的某个人。C选项“A friend of mine decided to learn about Beijing Opera.”
下文说“Connecting with nature can help you know yourself and make you feel relaxed.”,说明本段与亲近自然有关。E选项“The third thing you can do is to spend time in nature.”

The next day, when my ____44____ came, my legs were shaking. I walked slowly to the front of the classroom. For a moment, my mind went ____45____. I couldn’t remember a single word.

When I finished, the whole class burst into applause (鼓掌). Mrs. Wang’s eyes were ____48____ with pride. “That was wonderful, Zhang Wei!” she said.
At that moment, I realized that ____49____ is not about never being afraid. It’s about being ____50____ although you’ re afraid. Now I’m still shy sometimes, but I know I can face my fears and shine.
41. A. give B. talk C. speak

41. A 42. A 43. C 44. C 45. A 46. B 47. C 48. C 49. B 50. A
前文“my heart sank”表达消极情绪,后文“I knew I had to face this challenge”表达积极的决定,两者之间是转折关系。but表转折,so表因果,or表选择,因此选but。
后句“I couldn’t remember a single word”直接解释了这个空白状态。
根据前文“Slowly, I became confident.” words与“The words started coming back to me”矛盾,notes指“笔记”,和用手势表达没有逻辑关联,直接排除。
全文主题是克服恐惧、变得勇敢,且结尾点明“being brave although you’re afraid”。
