Passage 1
Today, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is becoming more and more popular around the world. For a long time in the past, many foreigners thought TCM was just a mysterious cultural tradition. But now, this idea is changing greatly because more and more people try it and see for themselves that it really works.
An important moment in this change happened recently. An American Internet star who has over 37 million followers showed his visit to a TCM store in Chengdu on a live video. He tried treatments like acupuncture (针刺疗法)—thin needles are put into certain points of the body. He was nervous at first, but he was surprised when his headache disappeared quickly after the treatment. His video was watched by millions of people online, showing people everywhere how effective TCM can be.
This is not just one case. In a city in Northeast China, a moxibustion clinic (艾灸馆) receives thousands of Russian visitors every year. They travel a long way to get help for health problems like neck and shoulder pain. Almost all of them leave the moxibustion clinic feeling much better. Similarly, a doctor in Guangzhou recently helped a German patient with a serious cold using herbal (药草的) medicine, and the next day, the patient's fever went down. Results like these are letting more and more people around the world see the value of TCM.
With the help of modern technology and creative ways of sharing culture, like including TCM in popular movies and online short videos, this ancient wisdom is reaching new people. The world is starting to see TCM not as something old and mysterious, but as a practical and useful way to take care of health in modern life.
1. Why did the American Internet star feel surprised after the acupuncture treatment?
A. Because the treatment was very expensive.
B. Because his headache disappeared quickly.
C. Because the needles were very painful.
2. What can we learn from the examples in Paragraph 3?
A. Only Chinese people can benefit from TCM.
B. TCM is mainly used to treat serious illnesses.
C. People from different countries are helped by TCM.
3. What is the writer’s attitude towards TCM?
A. Doubtful. B. Supportive. C. Worried.
4. What is the main purpose of this passage?
A. To show how TCM is becoming popular worldwide.
B. To introduce the history of acupuncture.
C. To explain why TCM is still mysterious to foreigners.
B 2. C 3. B 4. A
根据第二段“He was nervous at first, but he was surprised when his headache disappeared quickly after the treatment.”
文中多次使用积极表达,如“it really works”“how effective TCM can be”“see the value of TCM”“a practical and useful way”,可判断作者对中医持支持态度。故选B。
故选A。
Passage 2
When you think about vacations, what comes to mind? Visiting 10 countries on a busy one-week trip? Spending all day and night with family or friends? These are all popular but tiring ways to spend holidays. In general, sleeping is not seen as the most important thing for people on vacation. But recently, more and more travellers are choosing something distinct — sleep tourism. It is all about people’s wish to go to bed and have a good rest.
People’s lives are full of busy work times and different needs. Late-night meetings, endless to-do lists and noisy city environments fill every day. So, getting a good night’s sleep is not always easy. The United Kingdom reports that over 70% of its people say they sleep poorly, and many of them say they feel tired and have no energy even after a whole night in bed.
A recent report from Hilton Hotels showed that rest was the top reason people wanted to travel last year. The report also said that more travellers would plan their whole vacation around resting and getting their energy back.
So hotels begin to improve sleep services. One Italian hotel uses traditional Chinese medicine to improve people’s sleep. A hotel in Thailand offers a special massage (按摩), followed by a relaxing bath to help people fall asleep easily. Guests at a California hotel can fall asleep to a “sound bath” provided by a live musician.
These days, the best way for some to take a vacation is to sleep through it.
1. What does the underlined word “distinct” in Paragraph 1 mean?
A.Tiring. B.Different. C.Popular.
2. What can we infer from Paragraph 2?
A.Many people feel tired in daily life.
B.People like having meetings at night.
C.People in the UK sleep the latest.
3. How is Paragraph 4 mainly developed?
A.By giving some examples. B.By explaining reasons. C.By listing some numbers.
4. What’s the purpose of the text?
A.To advise people to travel more.
B.To explain reasons why people sleep late.
C.To introduce a new way to spend a vacation.
【答案】1.B 2.A 3.A 4.C
2.第二段指出“People’s lives are full of busy work times and different needs. Late-night meetings, endless to-do lists and noisy city environments fill every day...have no energy even after a whole night in bed.”,表明人们的生活充满忙碌的工作和压力,且英国超过70%的人睡眠质量差,即使睡一整晚仍感到疲惫。
“To introduce a new way to spend a vacation.”
Passage 3
Urban flooding (城市内涝) is becoming more common as climate change continues. Rising temperatures are causing sea levels to go up, and experts say this will continue and cannot be stopped in the next 20 years.
We’ve seen major flooding in places like China and the US. One report, The Growing Threat of Urban Flooding, warns that this is a big problem. In Europe, more heavy rain is expected, especially in winter, while summers may stay very dry in many areas.
Cities often flood when rivers or the sea overflow. But another reason is that city drainage systems (排水系统) are not strong enough. Cities don’t have much open land, so rainwater must be sent to rivers or sewers (下水道). But if the system can’t manage too much water, even light but steady (持续的) rain can cause big trouble. Urban flooding happens when rain hits hard surfaces and can’t soak into the ground.
Some cities are trying new ideas to stop flooding. In Norrebro, a district in Copenhagen, they use a special pavement (人行道) that lets water pass through into the ground. These are not too hard or expensive to build and keep. Smart technology can also help. The Copernicus Climate Change Service gives early warnings about flooding in cities to help people stay safe. People can help too. Using less plastic, reusing rainwater, and not throwing waste or harmful liquids (液体) into drains or rivers can all make a difference.
In China, the “sponge (海绵) city” idea was created in 2013 by Professor Yu Kongjian. These cities use special designs to catch and clean rainwater, helping reduce floods while protecting nature and saving water.
1.What is Paragraph 3 mainly about?
A.How city drainage systems are built.
B.Why cities should have more open land.
C.What causes city flooding to happen.
2.What does the underlined phrase “soak into” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A.Flow over. B.Go through. C.Dry up.
3.How does the writer develop the text?
A.By introducing a problem and giving solutions.
B.By comparing different cities’ flooding situations.
C.By explaining a scientific study about climate change.
4.Where can we likely find this text?
A.In a storybook. B.In a travel guide. C.In an environmental magazine.
【答案】1.C 2.B 3.A 4.C
What causes city flooding to happen.“城市内涝的成因”展开。
2.第三段可得出结论,“soak into the ground”指雨水渗入地下,与“Go through(渗透、穿过)”含义一致;而“Flow over”是漫过,“Dry up”是干涸,均不符合语境。
By introducing a problem and giving solutions.“通过介绍问题并给出解决方案”来展开全文的。
Passage 4
In recent years, spring and autumn holidays for primary and secondary school students have become a hot topic across China. Some provinces and cities have carried out pilot (试点) programs, and the policy has drawn wide public attention.
The two short breaks usually come in mild spring and comfortable autumn, when the weather is pleasant for outdoor activities. They are designed to give students a timely rest from heavy schoolwork. During the holidays, students can get close to nature, take part in cultural experiences or do simple community service. Instead of staying indoors with textbooks all day, they can open their eyes to the real world and turn knowledge into life skills.
For families, the holidays also bring good news. With staggered (错峰的) holidays, parents can spend quality time with their children without being trapped in heavy traffic or crowded tourist spots during long vacations. Family connections can be greatly improved through short trips, museum visits or simple daily activities together.
However, the policy still faces some challenges. The biggest problem is childcare for working parents. Many of them have no time to look after their kids during the breaks. To solve this problem, some schools offer after-school care with interesting activities, and local communities provide more programs for students. Besides, holiday plans can be adjusted according to local needs.
Overall, spring and autumn holidays are a meaningful step in education reform. They show that schools and society care more about students’ physical and mental health as well as their all-round development.
1.Which of the following is NOT mentioned as a student’s activity during the holidays?
A.Taking part in cultural experiences.
B.Having extra classes at school.
C.Doing simple community service.
2.What is the biggest challenge of carrying out spring and autumn holidays?
A.Bad weather in spring and autumn.
B.Childcare problems for working parents.
C.Students’ heavy homework during breaks.
3.What does the underlined word “adjusted” in Paragraph 4 probably mean?
A.changed B.canceled C.forgotten
4.What can we infer from the passage?
A.Spring and autumn holidays have been used all over China.
B.Students no longer need to worry about their study.
C.The new holidays are good for both students and families.
【答案】1.B 2.B 3.A 4.C
1.根据原文第2段“During the holidays, students can get close to nature, take part in cultural experiences or do simple community service.”,文中提到了参与文化体验、做社区服务,但未提及在学校上补习班。
2.根据原文第4段“However, the policy still faces some challenges. The biggest problem is childcare for working parents.”,可知实施春秋假面临的最大挑战是上班族父母的孩子看护问题。
3.根据上下文“Besides, holiday plans can be adjusted according to local needs.”,“adjusted”意为根据当地需求“调整、改变”,与选项A的“changed”意思最接近。
Passage 5
Have you ever wondered why your voice sounds different on a recording? This common experience has a science fact behind it. It’s all about how sound moves to your ears.
When you speak, sound moves in two ways. First, it moves through the air to your ears. This is how other people hear your voice. Second, it moves through the bones in your head to your inner ears. This is called bone conduction (骨传导). The bones in your head shake as you speak. This makes your voice sound deeper and fuller to yourself.
But when you hear your voice on a recording, you’re only hearing the sound that moved through the air. The bone-conducted sound is not there. So your recorded voice sounds higher and, to you, a little strange.
This is why singers sometimes put one hand on their ear when they sing. They are trying to hear both the air sound and the bone sound. This helps them sing better.
This doesn’t just happen with voices. Think about when you eat hard foods like apples. You hear the crunching (咬碎) sound through your bones too. That’s why your own chewing (咀嚼) sounds much louder to you than to people sitting next to you. They only hear the sound through the air, while you get both air and bone sounds.
Scientists find that people usually don’t like their recorded voices at first. Why? Because they’ re not used to them. Your brain likes familiar sounds. The voice you hear through your bones is what you’ve heard your whole life. But after listening a few times, most people get used to it.
So next time you hear your recorded voice and think “That doesn’t sound like me!”, remember — it’s not a problem with your phone. It’s just science explaining how your body works!
1. How does the writer lead into the topic?
A.By asking a question. B.By telling a story. C.By giving an example.
2. What makes people’s own voice sound deeper and fuller?
A.The air around their mouth.
B.The bone conduction in their head.
C.The help of high-technology machines.
3. Why do singers put one hand on their ear while singing?
A.To make their voice much louder.
B.To hear their real voice more correctly.
C.To make others hear them more clearly.
4. What is the main idea of the passage?
A.To introduce the ways to protect our ears.
B.To show how we can make our voice sound better.
C.To explain why our recorded voice sounds different.
【答案】1.A 2.B 3.B 4.C
1.文章开头以问句“Have you ever wondered why your voice sounds different on a recording?”
2.文章第二段提到“When you speak, sound moves in two ways. First, it moves through the air to your ears. This is how other people hear your voice. Second, it moves through the bones in your head to your inner ears. This is called bone conduction (骨传导). The bones in your head shake as you speak. This makes your voice sound deeper and fuller to yourself.”,说明是头部骨传导让人们自己听到的声音更深沉饱满。
3.文章第四段提到“singers sometimes put one hand on their ear when they sing. They are trying to hear both the air sound and the bone sound. This helps them sing better”,说明歌手把手放在耳朵上是为了更准确地听到自己真实的声音。
Passage 6
Do you hear World Laughter Day? This day happens on the first Sunday of May every year. It was started by Dr. Madan Kataria, a doctor from India, in 1998. Its goal is to achieve health, happiness and world peace through laughter.
Dr. Kataria encouraged people to join laughter groups where they could meet up and laugh in public. Over 12,000 people came to the first event, and since then it has caught on around the world.
Nobody knows for sure why people laugh, but all human cultures have laughter. Even babies laugh before they can talk!
Dr. Kataria found that when people fake (假装) laughing, it often causes real laughter. “Our body doesn’t know the difference between acting happy and being really happy, so we can fake laughing until the laughter comes naturally,” he said.
On World Laughter Day, lots of people meet up in parks or squares to laugh together. They do Laughter Yoga, a kind of exercise that mixes laughing and deep breathing. There may also be music and dancing. They even have competitions to see who has the best laugh.
If you can’t find a Laughter Day event near you, you could watch a funny movie to join in the fun. Remember, the spirit of World Laughter Day is all about bringing joy and laughter into every day of the year.

Passage 7
Nowadays, many teenagers dream of becoming online influencers. They think being an influencer means getting lots of fans, making easy money and living a cool life. But is it really as good as it looks?
A 14-year-old girl named Lily started posting dance videos on social media last year. At first, she did it just for fun. But as she got more followers, she felt great pressure. She had to post new videos every day, even when she was tired or sick. She spent hours editing videos instead of doing homework, and her grades dropped a lot. What’s worse, some people left mean comments on her videos, which made her feel sad and worried.
Experts say that being a successful influencer is not easy. Only a small number of influencers can make a lot of money. Most of them work long hours for little pay. They also have to face the control of algorithms, which decide how many people see their posts. If their videos are not popular enough, they may lose fans quickly.
Many schools are now teaching students about the risks of being an influencer. They want teenagers to know that chasing online fame is not the only way to be successful. It’s important to focus on study and real-life relationships first.
1. Why did Lily start posting dance videos at first?
A.To make lots of money. B.Just for fun. C.To become famous.
2. What problem did Lily have after becoming an influencer?
A.She had no free time to study.
B.Her grades got better.
C.She got more support from her family.
3. According to the passage, which of the following is TRUE?
A.All influencers can make a lot of money easily.
B.Algorithms never affect influencers’ posts.
C.Only a few influencers can be very successful.
4. What does the writer want to tell us?
A.Being an influencer is a perfect job for teenagers.
B.We should focus on study instead of only chasing online fame.
C.It’s easy to become a successful online influencer.
【答案】1.B 2.A 3.C 4.B
1.根据第二段“At first, she did it just for fun”,可知莉莉开始上传跳舞视频只是为了乐趣。
2.由第二段“But as she got more followers, she felt great pressure...and her grades dropped a lot”可知,莉莉成为网红之后,需要投入大量时间编辑视频,导致她没有时间写作业,因此成绩大幅下滑。
3.第三段明确指出“Only a small number of influencers can make a lot of money”,只有一小部分网红能赚到大量的钱,排除A项,C项正确;根据第三段“They also have to face the control of algorithms”,可知网红也要面临算法控制;最后一段明确指出“They want teenagers to know that chasing online fame is not the only way to be successful”,成为网红不是青少年通往成功的唯一道路。
4.根据最后一段“They want teenagers to know that chasing online fame is not the only way to be successful. It’s important to focus on study and real-life relationships first”,可知作者建议青少年首先集中于学习和现实生活,网红不是唯一的成功之路,B项符合文章主旨。

Passage 1
Go: A Game of Life Wisdom
Widely considered as one of China's most ancient games, Go has been practiced for over 4,000 years. During the Jin Dynasty, a Buddhist master named Zhi Daolin loved to play Go, finding it full of life's deep wisdom. 1 So he gave Go another name—"hand conversations".
Many Go players feel that the game is like real life. Sometimes, a player can move forward quickly. Other times, they must slow down and wait. 2 Every Go piece is placed carefully, just like how people solve problems in life. A single mistake in Go may change the whole game, just as one bad decision in life can lead to unexpected results.
The purpose of Go is not just to win but also to gain wisdom. 3 Instead, they work together to create a meaningful game.
4 It also helps people develop a calm mind, which is useful in daily life. Some even believe that Go can improve a person's ability to make decisions in the real world.
Go is more than just a game—it is a way to understand life. 5 Whether you are a beginner or an expert, Go always has something to teach.
A. Players do not simply try to defeat each other.
B. He thought people could "talk" by placing pieces on the board.
C. That is why it has lasted for thousands of years.
D. Go teaches patience and problem-solving skills.
E. Sometimes they directly face the challenger; other times they must take a different path.
B 2. E 3. A 4. D 5. C
1. 根据前文“finding it full of life's deep wisdom”和后文“So he gave Go another name—'hand conversations'”可知,空处应解释为什么他把围棋称为“手谈”。
2. 根据前文“Sometimes, a player can move forward quickly. Other times, they must slow down and wait.”
3. 根据后文“Instead, they work together to create a meaningful game.”
后文“It also helps people develop a calm mind”中的also提示前文应介绍围棋的一个作用。
5. 根据前文“Go is more than just a game—it is a way to understand life.”和后文“Whether you are a beginner or an expert, Go always has something to teach.”
Passage 2
The bestseller Steal Like an Artist by Austin Kleon is a fantastic guide for readers who want to get better at learning, creating, and finding their own voice. Its biggest message is powerful yet simple. You don’t have to invent something totally new to be creative. 1
This doesn’t mean copying others’ work. It means learning from people you admire. 2 You can take their best ideas and mix them into something that feels like yours. This idea is perfect for teenagers because it takes away the fear to be “perfectly original (原创的)”. Every great creator builds on what came before, and so can you. Actively learn from the best around you.
3 Start by keeping a notebook. You can take down cool sentences from books, clever problem-solving steps, or even ideas you love. Then, practice by imitating (模仿) first, and then create. Try using a model text’s mind map but fill it with your own experiences. 4 Learn from each other’s strengths, and don’t forget to share how you learned something, not just the final result. Small daily habits matter, too. Memorize one great sentence a day. Try one new study tip each week. 5
Steal Like an Artist reminds us that creativity isn’t about being unique (独特的). It’s about staying curious, learning bravely, and bringing out the best in you.
A.The real secret is stealing wisely.
B.It also helps to exchange ideas with friends.
C.Putting the idea into practice is not difficult at all.
D.They might be top students, wise teachers or great writers.
E.These little actions will soon build up your creativity and confidence.

2.根据第二段中“It means learning from people you admire.” D“They might be top students, wise teachers or great writers.”

Passage 3
There’s a Chinese saying that goes, “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap (小睡). If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, become wealthy by chance. 1 ” Helping others by giving may be the secret to a happy, healthy life. The more you give, the more you’ll gain. The key is to find a method that works for you. 2
Find your love. 3 You might feel bad if you are doing something you don’t like. You will feel great when you put your love into giving.
Give your time. The gift of time is often more valuable to the receiver, and more satisfying to the giver, than money. People don’t all have the same amount (数量) of money, but everyone has time. 4 It can be just a few hours a day, or a few days a year.
Be active. Take every chance to serve your community. You are free to choose what you want to do. Make full use of services that match your values.
5 You can easily get used to selfless giving. When you give, make sure to keep our own needs in mind. You matter, too!
All in all, by proper giving, you can gain purpose, meaning and happiness—all of the things that people look for in life but are so hard to find.
A.Don’t forget about yourself.
B.Here is some advice that you can take.
C.You can give some of this time to help others.
D.Your giving should not be from orders but come out of love.
E.If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.
【答案】1.E 2.B 3.D 4.C 5.A
1.前文依次列举“幸福一小时、一天、一年”的做法,E选项“If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.”
2.下文分段给出寻找热爱、奉献时间、积极参与等具体做法,B选项“Here is some advice that you can take.”

Passage 4
When you go out for a walk or a jog, how often do you see litter along the road? Maybe you can see a plastic bottle, some food bags, an empty drink can or some cigarette butts (烟蒂). As we know, all of this litter is bad for the environment. 1
Well, a new sport called “plogging” is encouraging people to do just that. Plogging is from the word “jogging” and the Swedish phrase “plocka upp”, which means “pick up” in Swedish. 2 The word plogging was created by the Swedish runner Erik Åhlström, who was unhappy with the litter he saw every time he went for a run. He also created the Plogga website to encourage people everywhere to take up plogging and hold plogging events.
Stockholm, where Åhlström lives, became the first city to hold a plogging event in 2016. 3 The World Plogging Championship has been held every year in Italy since 2021. In 2024, over 80 ploggers from 13 countries took part in the event and collected over 1,200 kilograms of litter.
4 That’s because you’re running and squatting (蹲下) to pick up litter. According to research, plogging burns more calories (卡路里) than jogging on its own.
Of course, not everyone likes jogging. 5 The Plogga website recommends doing it while cycling, skateboarding, or even just walking—whatever way you choose to get outside and move.
A.Now the sport is spreading around the world.
B.The idea is simple: pick up litter while you jog!
C.But how often do we want to stop to pick it up?
D.However, you can mix picking up litter with all kinds of sports.
E.Plogging is good for not only the environment but also health.
【答案】1.C 2.B 3.A 4.E 5.D
C项“But how often do we want to stop to pick it up?”
B项“The idea is simple: pick up litter while you jog!”
A项“Now the sport is spreading around the world.”
E项“Plogging is good for not only the environment but also health.”
D项“However, you can mix picking up litter with all kinds of sports.”
Passage 5
Many students today find it hard to be patient. When they can’t solve a math problem quickly or remember new words right away, they feel upset and want to give up. 1 Over time, it may slowly affect both their confidence and interest in several subjects.
2 For example, when you sit down to do homework, turn off your phone and avoid looking at other books. Set a small and clear goal, like reading one chapter (章) or finishing five questions without stopping. Don’t rush. Give yourself enough time to think slowly and carefully.
It also helps to learn step by step. If you are learning English, don’t try to memorize 50 words in one day. It’s too much. Instead, start with ten words each day and review them the next morning. 3 Remember, big achievements come from small, patient efforts.
Another idea is to train your patience through hobbies. Drawing, writing, or even planting a small flower can help you learn to wait. 4 They also make you feel calm and happy.
Don’t forget to cheer yourself on along the way. 5 Every time you finish a task without rushing, reward yourself—maybe with a piece of chocolate, a short walk, or listening to a favorite song. Stay positive and keep trying every day. With practice, you will become a more patient and successful learner.
A.This impatience can make learning stressful.
B.Small daily steps will finally lead to big results.
C.These activities teach you that good things take time.
D.When you feel impatient, say to yourself, "I can do this. "
E.A useful way to build patience is to practice focusing on one thing at a time.
【答案】1.A 2.E 3.B 4.C 5.D
A“This impatience can make learning stressful.”(这种不耐心会使学习变得有压力)符合逻辑,与后文“影响信心和兴趣”形成递进。
E“A useful way to build patience is to practice focusing on one thing at a time.”(培养耐心的一个有用方法是练习一次只专注一件事)准确概括本段内容。
B“Small daily steps will finally lead to big results.”(每天的小步骤最终会带来大结果)符合逻辑,与后文呼应。
C“These activities teach you that good things take time.”(这些活动教会你好的事情需要时间)准确,与后文形成并列关系。
D“When you feel impatient, say to yourself, ‘I can do this.’”(当你感到不耐烦时,对自己说“我能做到”)符合逻辑,与后文的奖励形成连贯行动。
Passage 6
Following the popularity of the “City Walk,” a new activity called “Color Walk” is sweeping social media this spring.
Across different platforms, people are sharing their Color Walk experiences. They choose a color and look for it outdoors. 1 Then, they post photos online showing things like a mango cake, pineapples, and sunflowers.
This activity is regarded as a way to focus on the beauty and joy of city living. Internet users happily share the colors they chose and the stories of their walks. 2 Whether it’s the calming effect of blue or the energetic feelings of bright yellows, these special color connections bring people a gentle healing (治愈的) power.
Several Chinese cities have followed this activity by designing local tours with special color themes. In Zhengzhou, Central China’s Henan Province, the local government hosted a pink-themed trip, guiding people to the city zoo, local garden, and Fuxi Mountain to enjoy peach flowers. 3
The “Color Walk” breaks away from boring city tour routines (路线). 4 Collecting these little joys builds a sense of belonging, bringing people deep relief and happiness.

B.It turns city walks into a fun game.
C.In a word, it is a new favorite among young people.

4.前文说“Color Walk”打破了无聊的城市旅游路线,B选项“It turns city walks into a fun game.”,解释了打破无聊路线的具体方式,即变成有趣的游戏,符合上下文逻辑。
5.后文说随着它越来越受欢迎,为什么不在这个春天去进行一次治愈的“Color Walk”呢,C选项“In a word, it is a new favorite among young people.”,总结了“Color Walk”在年轻人中的受欢迎程度,引出后文鼓励大家去参与的内容。
Passage 7
In modern society, smartphones have become an important part of our daily lives. We use them almost everywhere. However, as we use them more, a problem has come up, especially among teenagers.
Many young people now have a hard time expressing their thoughts and feelings in face-to-face conversations. 1 They may not find the right words to show how they truly feel. Even in simple talks, they often cannot speak as clearly as before.
Some people believe that too many emojis and Internet words result in the problem. Take “6” as an example. It is now a quick way to show surprise, but it can’t truly express how amazed we are. 2 To improve the situation, try to use more words in daily speech. Reading classic books is a good way to learn new words.
Another reason is that we don’t check our words carefully before speaking or sending messages online. We write and send messages so fast that we don’t improve how we say things. 3 This small act helps us share our ideas more clearly and also trains our brains to think better. Keeping a diary to practice writing can also help us speak more exactly.
There are other useful ways, too. Joining a speech club or taking part in public talks allows us to practice and get advice. 4 These fun activities push us to explain our ideas well and confidently.
Improving speaking skills takes time and practice. 5 Then we can speak more clearly and express ourselves better.
A.So, let’s be more careful with our language.
B.This kind of expression will make our language less rich.
C.Playing role-play games with friends can also improve our skills.
D.We should slow down and think about our words before we talk.
E.They may stop, use the wrong words, or fail to express deep feelings.
【答案】1.E 2.B 3.D 4.C 5.A
1.根据空前“Many young people now have a hard time expressing their thoughts and feelings in face-to-face conversations.” 分析备选项可知E项“They may stop, use the wrong words, or fail to express deep feelings.”
2.根据空前“Take ‘6’ as an example. It is now a quick way to show surprise, but it can’t truly express how amazed we are.” 分析备选项可知F项“This kind of expression will make our language less rich.”
3.根据空后“This small act helps us share our ideas more clearly and also trains our brains to think better.” 分析备选项可知D项“We should slow down and think about our words before we talk.”
4.根据空前“Joining a speech club or taking part in public talks allows us to practice and get advice.”可知,此处是在介绍提升表达能力的方法,分析备选项可知C项“Playing role-play games with friends can also improve our skills.”
5.根据空前“Improving speaking skills takes time and practice.”以及空后“Then we can speak more clearly and express ourselves better.” 分析备选项可知A项“So, let’s be more careful with our language.”

根据后文“to make space”和“chopped down”,村民的行为是砍树,cut down表示“砍倒”符合语境,shut off(关闭)、work out(解决)与树木无关,逻辑不通。

根据后文“I can’t hear their songs anymore”,说明鸟儿已经离开、消失了,gone表示“消失、不在了”符合语境,arrived(到达)、slept(睡觉)与听不到歌声的结果不匹配。
根据后文“we should plant new ones”,女孩呼吁停止砍树,stop表示“停止”符合语境,suggest(建议)、practice(练习)不符合呼吁行动的语境。

They can’t make toys 1 (they) or help mom cook dinner. And 2 (bad) of all, they seem to be losing interest in communicating with others.

In March, 2026, an American study showed that the habit of what time teens go to bed and wake up is very important for their health. It can influence how much they eat, what they eat, and how much they move.
Our body has a natural clock inside. People call it the body clock. It not only tells us when to sleep and wake, but it also helps control when we feel hungry and when we have energy to move. If a teen goes to bed and wakes up late, it can mess up this body clock. He might feel hungrier, want more snacks, and feel less like moving or playing sports.
Researchers followed 373 teenagers from the year of 2000. Some teens sleep a lot one night, but only a little the next night. This sleep pattern leads to worse eating and exercise habits. Teens who are "night owls" often eat more food, eat more snacks, and exercise less. They often miss breakfast. This problem is much worse on school days because school starts early, but the teen's body clock wants to sleep later. This fight between school time and body time makes their habits worse.
So try to form the habit of going to bed early. This simple habit is a powerful tool for your health. It's time to take action now.

2. What happens to a teen's body clock if he goes to bed and wakes up late?

the teen's body clock wants to sleep later. 4. It leads to worse eating and exercise habits. (Teens may eat more food, eat more snacks, exercise less, and often miss breakfast.) 5. Positive.
6.例文
Hello, everyone. I’m Li Hua from the school English Radio Station. Today, let’s talk about how to live a healthy life.
Some students spend too much time on phones or computers. They don’t do enough outdoor exercise. This is bad for health. To live a healthy life, we need to make small changes. First, plan out your day. Spend less time on the screens and sleep early. Second, do some outdoor exercise or go outside with friends. Besides, eat on time and choose healthy food.
Let’s begin to make a small change today. Tell your friends about it. We can help each other live better. A better lifestyle means better health.
That’s all for today. Thank you for listening.

Passage 2
Volunteering is more than an act of kindness-it’s a meaningful journey of growth for teenagers. When young people give their time to help others, they not only make their community better but also gain important life skills.
Last school year, many students from Sunshine Middle School joined different volunteer programs. They found these experiences very helpful.
Some students visited the old people's home every Friday afternoon. They helped clean rooms and read stories to the elderly. Through these activities, they learned to understand and care for others better. They became more patient and kind in their daily lives.
Other students took part in a community garden project. They worked together to grow flowers and vegetables. When they saw the colourful flowers coming out and vegetables growing, they felt so proud and happy.
These volunteer experiences also help with future plans. When students try to get into colleges or want to get jobs, their volunteer experiences make them stand out. Students can also discover their future dreams through volunteering. For example, a student who helped at an animal hospital now wants to become an animal doctor.
What’s more, studies show that acts of services can reduce stress, because volunteering gives teenagers a sense of achievement. It can help them forget about school worries and feel less stressed.
All in all, volunteering can help young people build confidence, learn teamwork, and prepare for a brighter future. Everyone is encouraged to volunteer and help create a better society.

Passage 3
What should you do when you can’t find the time to do a long workout (锻炼)? Have you heard of exercise snacks?
Exercise snacks are a popular new short-time way for people to stay fit. Instead of spending hours on the playground, people break that “large meal” into exercise “snacks”. These exercise snacks can last anywhere from 20 seconds to 2 minutes. Then you can have a rest for 30 minutes to 4 hours before another snack.
It is reported that exercise snacks can be as useful as traditional exercise methods. Just three exercise snacks a day can benefit your physical health. Besides that, there are lots of other benefits. Your concentration (专注力) and creativity can get better, and you can become more productive (有效益的). Also, “snacking” throughout the day stops you from sitting too long.
There are so many acceptable exercise snacks, like doing sit-ups, jumping rope or running up and down some stairs. But for those who don’t know where to start, here are some helpful exercise choices:
•Exercise like lifting weights will satisfy your needs. If you don’t keep weights at your office, you can lift full water bottles.
•Squats (深蹲): move your body as if to sit down while keeping your back straight. Five to ten of these should make a good snack.
•For those who don’t like traditional exercise, simply pick a lively song and start dancing. It’ll make for a fun workout.
What are you waiting for? Let’s get moving. Your body will thank you for it!

1. What does the underlined part “caught on” in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A.Become popular. B.Made changes. C.Caused problems.
2. Which of the following will Dr. Kataria most probably agree with?
A.Babies learn to laugh before they talk.
B.False laughing can cause real happiness.
C.Scientists found out why people laugh.
3. What are the last two paragraphs mainly about?
A.The spirit of World Laughter Day.
B.The history of World Laughter Day.
C.How to celebrate World Laughter Day.
4. Why did the writer write the text?
A.To show scientific ways of laughing.
B.To introduce a new holiday about happiness.
C.To encourage people to always stay happy.

5 As it becomes more popular, why not pick your favorite color and go for a healing Color Walk this spring?
A.Nanjing also has a green-themed tour.
B.It turns city walks into a fun game.
C.In a word, it is a new favorite among young people.
D.For example, some users pick yellow before taking a walk.
E.Many say the activity serves as a good way to relieve stress.

This summer, 17 volunteers from China, France, and Mexico went to Pingyao. It is one of the 1 (old) cities in Shanxi. These volunteers joined a special summer camp to help protect old buildings.
For two weeks, the volunteers worked with local experts. They helped fix the gatehouse and walls of a very old house. The work was not easy, 2 they learned a lot. They also visited many beautiful places like Shuanglin Temple and the Pingyao Ancient City. They met artists who make Pingyao's famous lacquerware and puppet 3 (perform).
Aurore Franche, an 18-year-old student from France, loves cultural heritage. She thinks old buildings connect us to the past. "Chinese architecture is really beautiful," she said. "The way the pieces fit together without glue or nails is 4 (amaze). It shows the wisdom of ancient builders."
Sara Zuniga, a student from Mexico, also joined the camp. She feels sad because some old places in Mexico were damaged. "This makes me want 5 (protect) what remains," she said. For her, China was a mysterious country. She wanted to see it for 6 (she).
Since 2010, this camp has been held many times in Shanxi, a province with over 28,000 old buildings, and nearly 1,000 young people from around the world 7 (join) it.
Ding Feng, the camp leader, said, "We want young people to take part 8 heritage protection. Young people have worked hard with their hands, so a real connection has been formed to these old buildings by them now. This helps them care more about protecting 9 culture of China."
He added, " 10 (final), I hope more young people will join us in the future."
Passage 2
Nowadays more and more children seem to get lost in a “sea of digital technology”. To be honest, as they use digital technology too much, they are losing their skills to do simple things. They can’t make toys 1 (they) or help mom cook dinner. And 2 (bad) of all, they seem to be losing interest in communicating with others.
“I have talked with a number of teachers. They care about the rising number of young students who play with computers or smart phones, but have few or no skills to make things,” 3 (say) a teacher, Colin Kinney. “Many students can’t communicate with other students but their parents are glad to see the skills of their children to use a computer or a smart phone.”
Instead of playing with other children, more and more children are choosing to stay indoors and 4 (quiet) play on a laptop on weekends and after school. How can a child grow up to be 5 very good pianist unless he spends much time practising playing the piano? How can a child learn to make friends as he gets older unless he learns to communicate with others 6 a young age?
Probably digital technology 7 (use) for good or bad. We can use a stone to either break a window 8 build a house. We shouldn’t blame (谴责) the children. We should help them make right 9 (choice). It is certainly necessary for children to know how to use digital technology in today’s world, but what is more important, we should encourage children 10 (develop) social abilities. They are good for children especially while growing up.

1. What does the underlined word "it" in Paragraph 2 refer to?
2. What happens to a teen's body clock if he goes to bed and wakes up late?
3. Why is the problem of "night owls" much worse on school days?
4. How does an irregular sleep pattern influence teens' eating and exercise habits?

The lion dance is a traditional dance in China. It is performed by two dancers in lion costumes (服装). With the loud music of drums, one dancer shakes the lion’s head while the other moves the lion’s body.
The lion dance is usually performed at Chinese traditional festivals, such as Chinese New Year. Known as the king of all animals, the lion stands for power. People think the lion is a symbol of good luck and it can drive away evils (邪恶). That’s why many Chinese have two stone lions in front of their houses.
There are two main types of lion dance in China: northern lion dance and southern lion dance. The northern lion dance is popular in Northern China, such as in Beijing, Hebei, and Shanxi. A common lion dance performance in northern styles usually appears as a family, with two large “adult” lions and a pair of small “young lions”. Southern lion dance comes from Guangdong Province. It is popular in Southern China and Southeast Asia. The lion dancers will stand on thick wooden stakes (桩) to climb high and pick the romaine lettuce (生菜).
