Acting in front of many people can be scary. But at Beijing New Oriental Foreign Language School at Yangzhou, Jiangsu province, the drama teaching and arts course helps students feel braver.
At the school, every student takes the course twice a week. “Many students are good at studying but are shy to express themselves,” said the course’s foreign teacher, Mr. Dean. “We hope drama can help students learn English and be more creative.”
In class, students are taught basic acting skills, like voice work and showing feelings through movement, all through fun activities. One of the most popular activities is improvisation, where the teacher sets up simple scenes and lets students create freely. Students also learn to tell stories through stop-motion animation (定格动画). “This helps shy students a lot,” said Mr Dean. “They can tell stories by controlling puppets without feeling nervous on stage.”
For example, students were once asked to use an umbrella to come up with new ways of walking for different characters. “I held the umbrella and walked slowly, playing the role of a prince. It was really interesting,” said Bu Haoxuan.
Yet students learn much more than acting skills. “It improves my quick thinking, and helps me express myself better,” said Wu Jingheng. “I’ve also learned to understand others’ feelings.”

On April 6, 2025, four astronauts took a historic photo inside the Orion spacecraft. This was not just a photo — it marked the start of NASA’s Artemis II mission, the first manned (载人的) flight to circle the moon in over 50 years.
The crew included three NASA astronauts and one Canadian astronaut. Their 10-day journey aimed to test the Orion spacecraft’s life-support systems and practice moves needed for future moon landings. These tasks are important for preparing humans for deep space travel.
Artemis II is NASA’s first manned mission under the Artemis program. It follows the unmanned Artemis I mission in November 2022. While Artemis II will only circle the moon in 2027, Artemis IV plans an actual moon landing in 2028.
The program has bigger goals than the 1969 Apollo 11 mission, when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin first walked on the moon. NASA now hopes to create a long-term human stay on the moon. Resources found there could even help humans travel to Mars and beyond.
The new space race is heating up. China plans to land astronauts by 2030, and India successfully landed a spacecraft in August 2023. Private companies like SpaceX are also joining the competition. The moon is becoming a busy destination once again.
21. What did the April 6 photo show?
A. The first human walking on the moon.
B. The start of a new moon mission.
C. The landing of a spacecraft on the moon.
D. The return of astronauts from deep space.
22. How long will the Artemis II journey last?
A. About 8 days. B. About 10 days. C. About 30 days. D. About 50 years.
23. What is the main purpose of the Artemis II mission?
A. To land on the moon and collect rocks directly.
B. To test systems and prepare for future landings.
C. To build a space station on the moon soon.
D. To travel directly to Mars from the Earth.
24. What makes the Artemis program different from Apollo 11?
A. It uses newer spacecraft and technology.

第二节 请阅读全文,从下列方框里的六个句子中选择五个还原到原文中,使原文意思完整、连贯。(共5小题,每小题2分)
A. This surprising difference has brought problems for visitors.
B. If you are not sure, ask politely or use simple words.
C. This can create real problems for travelers and business people.
D. These gestures are so natural that we rarely think about them.
E. Some common patterns are still widely accepted in most countries.
F. It does not always mean agreement, but rather “I am paying attention.”
Have you ever thought that a simple nod or shake of the head could cause misunderstanding? 26 Even worse, these common gestures can even make you doubt your own ways of expression when you are misunderstood by others.
In most Western countries and China, nodding the head up and down means “yes” or agreement. Shaking the head from side to side means “no” or disagreement. 27 Parents are happy when their babies learn these gestures correctly.
However, this pattern is not followed everywhere. In some cultures, the meanings are totally different. For example, in parts of India, Bulgaria and Greece, nodding actually means “no” and shaking the head means “yes.” 28 Tourists often feel confused when locals seem to disagree with everything they say. This can lead to funny or even awkward situations in restaurants and shops.
Head movements can express more than just yes or no. In Japan, a slight tilt (倾斜) of the head may show politeness or listening. 29 In Turkey, a quick upward tilt of the head combined with a clicking sound means “no”. These differences require careful observation.
When visiting a new country, watch how local people use body language. 30 Moreover, when you are in doubt, use clear words directly to avoid further confusion.
