One day, a raven (渡鸦) happened to fly past a lake. Looking at the lake, he saw the most beautiful animal he had ever seen. It was a swan (天鹅) and its feathers (羽毛) were as white as snow. The swan was playing with other birds happily, talking and dancing. And it seemed that the other birds all liked to stay with it. When he looked at his own feathers, they were as black as coal (煤). The raven was very angry with the swan. “How can the swan have such wonderful feathers?” said the raven. What should he do with his feathers? He thought it over and over.
Then, the raven decided that he also wanted to have white feathers like the swan’s. From that day on, the raven began to live like the swan. He moved his home from the woods to the lake. He also started to eat water plants like the swan. He tried his best to talk and dance with the other birds. The most important was that each day, the raven would wash his feathers, hoping that they would turn white. Even he went to the nearby rivers and ponds to wash his feathers because he thought the water in the lakes was not enough for him to wash them. But no matter how hard he washed his feathers, they remained black.

1. Which of the following underlined parts is different from the others in pronunciation?
A. dream B. ready C. need D. she

A. promising B. helping C. asking D. reminding
答语“Oh no, I forgot!”
3. —To have a nice future, we should work hard every day.
—You’re right. ________ can stop us from realizing our dreams.
A. Something B. Anything C. Everything D. Nothing
根据“To have a nice future, we should work hard every day.”以及“You’re right...can stop us from realizing our dreams.”
4. When I cleaned my room, I found my lost watch ________.
A. by accident B. by mistake C. by myself D. by the way
【答案】A
by accident意外地、偶然地;by mistake错误地;by myself独自地、靠自己;by the way顺便说一下。根据“When I cleaned my room, I found my lost watch”可知,在打扫房间时发现丢失的手表属于偶然发生的事件,应填by accident。
5. —Frank is as ________ as Mike.

A. tall; more outgoing B. taller; outgoing C. taller; more outgoing D. tall; outgoing

第一空,根据“as...as...”
6. —Which is ________ season in your hometown?
—I think it’s spring. Everything is so beautiful in the spring.
A. nice B. nicer C. nicest D. the nicest

do做,动词原形;doing做,动名词;to do去做,动词不定式;done做,过去分词。固定搭配expect sb. to do sth.

故选A。
后文提到“half an hour later, the sun came out”说明天晴后他们才继续爬山,因此他们“不喜欢”雨天爬山,用disliked。
爬山用“climb the mountain”。
故选A。
后文提到“We had some fish and vegetables.”,说明他们饿了,用hungry。
决定做某事用“decided to do sth.”。故选B。finished“完成”,tried“尝试”,stopped“停止”,均与to stay at a hotel的意图不符。

It’s + adj. + for sb. to do sth.,表示“教”。

It takes some time to do sth.,表示“花费”。

B
As he ate only water plants, he soon grew thinner and thinner. Not many days later, the raven died.
38. The underlined word “it” in Paragraph 1 refers to ________.
A. the raven B. the water C. the feather D. the swan
39. Where did the raven live at first?
A. The lakes. B. The rivers. C. The woods. D. The ponds.
40. Which of the following is the correct order of the raven’s actions?
①Washed feathers in rivers and ponds. ②Moved home to the lake.
③Ate water plants. ④Decided to get white feathers.
A. ④②③① B. ②④③① C. ④③②① D. ②③④①
41. What can we infer from the raven’s decision to live like the swan?
A. He thought a swan’s life was easier.
B. He believed changing his life could turn his feathers white.
C. He wanted to make friends with the swan.
D. He hated living in the woods.
42. What’s the main idea of this passage?
A. Swans are more popular than ravens. B. We shouldn’t copy others without thinking.
C. Black feathers are not beautiful. D. Water plants are not good for ravens.
D 39. C 40. A 41. B 42. B
第一段提到天鹅正开心地与其他鸟儿玩耍:“The swan was playing with other birds happily…And it seemed that the other birds all liked to stay with it.”。
第二段提到渡鸦为了改变羽毛颜色而搬家:“He moved his home from the woods to the lake.”。
根据第二段故事情节的发展顺序:首先渡鸦产生了动机,“…raven decided that he also wanted to have white feathers…” (④);接着采取搬家行动,“He moved his home from the woods to the lake.” (②);然后改变饮食习惯,“He also started to eat water plants…” (③);最后增加了洗澡频率和地点,“Even he went to the nearby rivers and ponds to wash his feathers…” (①)。
第二段描述了渡鸦的一系列转变,并点明了他的心理预期:“…the raven would wash his feathers, hoping that they would turn white.”。
C
MBTI is a personality test. Many people are very interested in it now. “Am I an ‘I’ person or an ‘E’ person?” “I” means introverted (内向的) while “E” means extroverted. A number of people take the test to find out the answer.
They find the test helpful. The MBTI test puts people into 16 kinds. People can know what kind of people they are by taking the test. It can help people have a better understanding of their personality. A greater self-understanding can be helpful in daily life and for interpersonal communication (人际交往), such as choosing a job or getting along with others.

第二段指出测试的用处:“It can help people have a better understanding of their personality.”。
第四段第一句明确提到:“Personalities can change with time, and they are not black and white…”。

Many children feel that the most important people in their lives are their friends. They believe that their family members don’t know them as well as their friends do. In large families, it’s quite often for brothers and sisters to fight with each other and then they can only go to their friends for some ideas.
It is very important for children to have one good friend or a group of friends. Even when they are not with their friends, they usually spend a lot of time talking among themselves on the phone. This communication is very important in children’s growing up, because friends can discuss something. These things are difficult to say to their family members.
However, parents often try to choose their children’s friends for them. Some parents even stop their children from meeting their good friends. Have you ever thought of the following questions?
Who chooses your friends? Do you choose your friends or your friends choose you? Have you got a good friend your parents don’t like? Your answers are welcome.
48. Many children think that ________ can understand them better.
A. brothers. B. friends. C. sisters. D. parents.
49. What is very important for children?
A. Having one good friend or a group of friends.
B. Spending all free time with family.
C. Winning fights with brothers and sisters.
D. Visiting friends every weekend.
50. When children have something difficult to say to their parents, they usually________.
A. stay alone at home. B. fight with their parents.
C. discuss it with their friends. D. go to their brothers and sisters for help.
51. The sentence “Your answers are welcome” means “________”.
A. You can give us all the right answers.
B. We’ve got no idea, so your answers are welcome.
C. Your answers are always right.
D. You are welcome to discuss the questions with us.
52. Which of the following is the writer’s attitude (态度)?
A. Parents should choose friends for their children.
B. Children should choose everything they like.
C. Parents should understand children better.

B 49. A 50. C 51. D 52. C

第1段中介绍“Many children feel that the most important people in their lives are their friends. They believe that their family members don’t know them as well as their friends do.”,这说明很多孩子认为朋友比家人更了解他们。
第2段中介绍“It is very important for children to have one good friend or a group of friends.”,这说明对孩子来说,拥有一个或一群好朋友非常重要,所以选项A“Having one good friend or a group of friends.”正确。
第2段结尾提到“friends can discuss something. These things are difficult to say to their family members.”,这说明当孩子有很难对父母说的事情时,他们通常会和朋友讨论。
最后一段:“Have you ever thought of the following questions? Who chooses your friends?... Your answers are welcome.” D“You are welcome to discuss the questions with us.”
A“父母应该为孩子选择朋友”与文中“parents often try to choose their children’s friends for them. Some parents even stop their children from meeting their good friends.”
