Do you know the “perfect” weight? What’s your “perfect” weight? Everyone wants to find their “perfect” weight, the one that makes them look good and feel healthy. But how can we know our “best” weight?
You might find healthy weight formulas (公式) online, but they might not be right for everyone because they only look at height and weight. Doctors use them to check for health risks, but they can’t tell us correctly what weight we should be.
For years, the Body Mass Index (BMI) used to see if people were underweight, healthy, or overweight. It uses height and weight to score how much body fat people have. But BMI has problems. It doesn’t tell the differences between kids and adults and it doesn’t show people’s differences like muscles (肌肉). Doctors still need to think other things about health, for example, people’s blood sugar, sleep quality and so on.
Recently, some doctors use the Body Roundness Index (BRI), which is mainly about waistline (腰围). Because having too much fat around your middle can make heart problems and other illnesses more likely. However, there are different health conditions that can change belly (腹部) size!
So what’s the “perfect” weight? For those with health problems, such as heart illness, doctors might say it’s better to lose some weight, like 5% or 10%, instead of trying to be a certain number The best weight is the one you can stay through healthy eating and exercise. If this is not enough, medicine can help.
Remember, the real goal is not just the number of weight but a healthier lifestyle.
4. How does the writer begin the passage?
A. By asking questions. B. By listing numbers.
C. By telling jokes. D. By giving examples.
5. Why might online healthy weight formulas not be right for everyone?
A. They ask too many questions. B. They only use height and weight.
C. They check many health details. D. Doctors make mistakes using them.
6. Which of the following is true according to the passage?
A. BMI can completely tell if you are healthy or not.
B. BRI is more useful than BMI for people of ages.
C. BMI can show people’s blood sugar and sleep quality.
D. BRI shows that belly fat is more likely to cause health problems.
7. What is the “perfect” weight in the writer’s opinion?
A. A healthier lifestyle. B. A certain weight number.
C. To lose weight crazily. D. To use BMI and BRI completely.

①Have you ever imagined a robot cooking dinner for your family? Automated (自动化的) kitchens, once seen only in movies, are now real! Today, AI-powered robots can fry chicken, bake pizza, and even invent new recipes (菜谱). These “smart kitchens” can check what ingredients (食材) you have and suggest meal ideas. While these machines are mostly used in restaurants, they might become common in homes someday.
②AI kitchens offer many advantages. They save time by preparing everything for you before cooking. This gives people more time for school, hobbies, or relaxing; AI can also create meals for special dishes, helping people eat healthier. For example, a student with food allergies (过敏的) could safely enjoy meals designed just for them.
③However, there are also worries. Cooking isn’t just about food—it’s about the relationship between family members. Families often bond while cooking together, sharing stories, or teaching kids old recipes. If robots start doing everything in the kitchen, this valuable time might be gone. Kids also learn science through cooking, like how baking soda makes cakes rise or why oil heats faster than water. Without these hands-on experiences, learning could feel less fun.
④Another worry is cultural loss. Traditional recipes passed down from generation to generation might disappear if AI makes dishes easier. Imagine if every culture’s special foods started tasting the same, we would live in a boring world. Food is connected to our family stories and what makes us special, like the love or secret tastes moms add when they cook. But robots might never learn to copy that “special touch”.
⑤Technology makes life easier, but balance is the key. While AI kitchens offer convenience, food also connects us to family, culture, and creativity. As this technology grows, we must protect the human warmth that makes meals meaningful.
8. According to Paragraph 1, what can AI-powered kitchen robots do?
A. Only cook are programmed meals. B. Help in restaurants but not at home.
C. Check ingredients and suggest meals. D. Replace all human cooks completely.
9. What does “This” refer to in paragraph 2?
A. AI kitchen’s automation. B. Preparing food early.
C. Making allergy-safe meals. D. Creating new recipes.
10. The word “bond” in Paragraph 3 most likely means: ______.
A. Build close connections B. Talk about recipes
C. Join food competitions D. Teach robot technology
11. What’s the correct structure of the text?
A. B.
C. D.
D
By age forty, I’d tried many hobbies but not succeeded—acting classes, handmade books, yoga. One rainy day, I entered an adult ballet (芭蕾) class, which made me feel active.
“But you’re not exactly... good at it,” my husband said to me, “you once nearly hurt yourself when you were trying to lift a leg onto the bathroom counter (台面).” He was right. In fact, every time when I found I couldn’t do things well, I would leave them behind. My exercise history was funny: an old headband (头巾) was left in a box, a bicycle became spiderwebs.
Still, I expected my first ballet class. When preparing for the class, I surprisingly found the old but bright headband from my twenties. Under the lights, I saw my nervous shoulders and straight arms in the mirror (镜子), but the headband looked like little stars saying, “Don’t give up!”
During the practice, I lost my balance and fell onto the floor. My knee ached, and my eyes were filled with tears. “Don’t be sad. Ballet isn’t about being perfect.” I felt like finding a magic key: ________. Slowly, I started becoming more comfortable with the body.
Now I’m 50 and still a beginner. Practising Sleeping Beauty’s dance at home, I see myself shaking badly when I stand on one foot. The “imperfect” ballet step? It’s the footprint showing I’m still going forward.
12. How did the writer’s husband feel about her decision on learning ballet?
A. Angry. B. Excited. C. Worried. D. Proud.
13. What did the old headband mean to the writer?
A. An encouragement to keep trying.
B. A lucky gift from her ballet teacher.
C. A cool thing she wore when she was young.
D. A magic key that made her think of old hobbies.
14. Which of the following can be put into ______ in Paragraph 4?
A. failing means you should stop B. perfection makes you special
C. practicing every day is important D. trying is better than being perfect
15. What’s the passage mainly about?
A. Practicing ballet skills. B. Improving ballet steps.
C. Accepting your imperfections. D. Learning from mistakes.

Now I keep reading for half an hour every day, and I also visit the school library to borrow new books every weekend. Reading makes me feel calm and relaxed, especially after a busy day at school. I’m looking forward to making friends with you!
