(2025·福建·中考真题)
As we often use eyes to touch nature, most of us “lose” the ability to listen to the world.
Peter writes music. He likes sounds and uses natural sounds as part of his music. He often went out to the wild with his microphone and recorded interesting sounds to put in movies or to use in his own songs. Instead of trying to capture just the sound of one animal or bird, he recorded the sound of everything all together—the animals, the trees, the wind and the earth. He called these recordings “soundscapes”—the sound of a certain place. Every soundscape Peter recorded had a lot of information.
Back in his workshop, Peter used a computer to make a picture of all the sounds going on in a place. Each animal, bird and insect had its own place on the picture—its own notes in the music. The busier the picture, the richer the life in that place. “While a picture may be worth 1,000 words, a soundscape is worth 1,000 pictures,” Peter said. “Our ears tell us the sound of every leaf and animal and speak to the natural sources (来源) of our lives, which may hold the secrets of love for all things, especially our own humanity.”
But not everything is satisfying. When Peter began recording over forty years ago, he could record for ten hours and get one hour of usable material good enough for a movie. Now, because of human activities, it can take up to 1,000 hours or more to get the same thing. Some of the places he has recorded over the years have slowly fallen silent. His sound pictures show that although nature might look the same to humans, it has lost part of its orchestra (管弦乐队).
So next time you are in the forests, try another way to look—shut your eyes, and listen.
11.Why did Peter record natural sounds?
A.To write songs for a music group. B.To discover rich lives in the forest.
C.To use some of them in his music. D.To make music about birds singing.
12.What does the underlined word “capture” in paragraph 2 mean?
A.Shut. B.Catch. C.Touch. D.Check.
13.What is a sound picture in the text?
A.The sound of every leaf and animal in nature.
B.The sound recorded in the natural environment.
C.A picture of music with sounds of 1,000 animals.
D.A picture of music with natural sounds in a place.
14.What can we learn from paragraph 4?
A.Recording sounds needs less material. B.Sound pictures are the same as before.
C.Some beautiful sounds in nature are lost. D.Human activities improve recording results.
15.What does the writer mainly want to tell us?
A.Nature is the source of our future. B.Nature has wonders to be heard.
C.Making music enriches our lives. D.Making music needs information.

(2025·江西·中考真题)
You can put a stamp on it, you can write an address on it, and you can send it through the mail. No, it’s not a package (包裹). It’s the amazing coconut (椰子)! The coconut is different from most other fruits because every part of it is useful. People have been using coconuts in many different ways. Here are some of them.
One exciting use of the coconut is as a kind of energy. Scientists are working on using coconuts for energy because they are cheap and clean. Coconut oil has already been made into fuel (燃料). It can power cars, trucks, ships and many more.
Students at Baylor University find that coconut husks (外壳) can take in water very well. So mixing coconut husks with dry soil (土壤) helps the soil to hold onto more of the water. The students also find that coconut husks can take the place of plastic in some cases. If this is possible, it will help people use less plastic.
The husk of the coconut is a perfect package. It protects the coconut from harm. That’s why some countries allow people to send the coconut without any packaging. Each year, tourists post about 3,000 of these “coconut postcards”.
Coconuts grow naturally in over 80 countries of the world. They require only sun and proper rain. No special care is needed. Every year, more than 61 million tons of coconuts are produced. It is not surprising, then, that people want to find so many uses for the coconut.

(2025·云南·中考真题)Imagine that a cool bamboo-like grass can be used to make green energy. Scientists at Landuo Biotech, a business in Wuhan, have created one such plant recently. They name it “super giant reed” (超级芦竹).
Since 2012, the Landuo team have collected over 1,000 wild giant reeds for experiments. As a result, more than 40 varieties of super giant reed have been “born”. In the Landuo’s factory, hundreds of young reeds are grown in glass bottles. Fully grown, super giant reeds are cut and put in a special place without O2. The Landuo team heat them up to make natural gas, which can then be used for energy.
Thanks to the scientists’ efforts, super giant reed has a biomass (生物量) three times that of wild giant reed. A kilogram of super giant reed also has 4,000 to 4,500 kilocalories (千卡) of energy. So, super giant reed is a great choice for taking the place of fossil fuels (化石燃料).
What’s more, growing super giant reed helps a lot. Planting 13,000 hectares of it can produce 0.45 to 1.5 million tons of fuel a year. 40 million hectares of super giant reed can be used instead of 2.2 billion (1 billion=1,000 million) tons of coal and can cut CO2 emissions (排放) by 4 billion tons in China every year.
Super giant reed is also well-suited for growing on some land like beaches, wetlands and salty lands. Once a reed is planted, it can be cut and used many times during the next 15 to 20 years. By the end of 2024, over 3,300 hectares of super giant reed had been planted across 53 areas in China.
At present, China is developing this new energy source—super giant reed and we hope that it can help to make our planet cleaner and cleaner.
21.What is the right order according to paragraph 2?
a. The super giant reeds are cut by the Landuo team.
b. The super giant reeds are heated up to make natural gas.
c. The Landuo team grow lots of young super giant reeds in glass bottles.
d. The Landuo team put the super giant reeds in a special place without O2.
A.a-b-c-d B.b-a-c-d C.c-b-d-a D.c-a-d-b
22.How many kilocalories of energy does a kilogram of super giant reed produce?
A.1,000 to 1,500. B.2,000 to 3,500.
C.4,000 to 4,500. D.5,000 to 5,500.
23.How does the writer support the main idea of paragraph 4?
A.By listing numbers. B.By telling stories.
C.By asking questions. D.By giving suggestions.
24.In which part of a newspaper can you probably read the text?
A.People. B.Science. C.Sports. D.Travel.
25.What can be the best title for the text?
A.Fossil Fuels B.CO2 Emissions
C.Wild Giant Reed D.Super Giant Reed
第二节 短文填空
以下是一则短文, 请阅读短文, 并从下列六个句子中选择五个还原到原文中, 使原文的意思完整、连贯。并在答题卡上将相应的字母编号涂黑。(共5 小题, 每小题1分)
(2025·四川·中考真题)In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has developed quickly and has become very popular. It is changing our life in different ways. AI is the art of training computers to “think” and have a “brain”. It allows devices (设备) to help us do things by programming and coding. 26 Then it could repeat the job over and over again.
AI makes our daily lives easier. It could work all the time and can reduce human mistakes. 27 Doctors use AI to look over patients. Astronauts use AI for discovering planets. Artists use AI to make art works. Teachers use it to prepare for lessons, while students use it to find learning materials. These are only a few examples of AI. In our daily lives, we see and use AI here and there.
28 One of the problems is that AI can’t develop a child’s confidence and creativity like teachers. Another problem is that AI devices would go out of control and have their own “opinions”. 29 So you see, AI is a technology we still need to improve.
In the future, AI may get better and better. Maybe one day, AI could help us do things in smarter ways, such as doing science experiments and going to outer space. 30 But this technology is sure to be a great success in our inventing history. We can expect more amazing things from AI in the future.
A.For example, some self-driving cars could go out of control and cause car accidents.
B.The device is taught to drive a car or do other human-like things.
C.Although AI makes our lives easier, it also has problems.
D.AI can be helpful to both students and teachers.
E.We never know how AI will develop.
F.It shows great ability in different fields.

31 Don’t use general questions when you ask AI for instructions. Instead, ask it to give you clear steps.
32 Make no mistakes in your questions, or you may not get correct answers.
33 AI can answer questions about facts. But don’t try to ask it for other people’s private information.
34 If you are not happy with a painting or a song AI creates, give it more instructions until you get what you like.
35 It’s better to tell AI who you are. In this way, you’ll get answers that meet your needs.
A.If you are wondering about the population of Canada, questions like “What is the popular of Canada?” will not get you the correct answer.
B.Instead of asking “How do I cook a meal?” you can say “What are the steps to make a pancake with a pan?”
C. If you tell AI “Guess if I’m happy today,” it will fail to do it because it has no ability to judge human feelings.
D.If you aren’t satisfied with the picture AI draws, give more requirements like “Please add a pink window and paint the walls yellow.”
E. For a student who wants to improve his English reading, it is better to ask questions like “How can I improve my English reading as a Grade 9 student?”
F. If you ask “Could you tell me the address of my desk-mate Mary?” AI will refuse to give you the answer because it is designed to protect people’s personal information.
G. A question like “Will it be nice tomorrow for jogging outside?” should be changed into “What is the weather like tomorrow?”

【答案】11.C 12.B 13.D 14.C 15.B
【导语】本文主要讲述了Peter通过录制自然声音来创作音乐,并强调了自然声音的丰富性和重要性。
11.细节理解题。根据“He often went out to the wild with his microphone and recorded interesting sounds to put in movies or to use in his own songs.”可知,Peter录制自然声音是为了在他的音乐中使用这些声音。故选C。
12.词句猜测题。根据“Instead of trying to capture just the sound of one animal or bird, he recorded the sound of everything all together—the animals, the trees, the wind and the earth”可知他没有试图只捕捉一种动物或鸟类的声音,而是把所有东西的声音都记录下来,故此处划线部分意为“捕捉”,和catch意义相近。故选B。
13.细节理解题。根据“Peter used a computer to make a picture of all the sounds going on in a place. Each animal, bird and insect had its own place on the picture—its own notes in the music”可知“sound picture”是指用计算机制作的包含某个地方所有声音的图片,即包含自然声音的音乐图片。故选D。
14.细节理解题。根据“Now, because of human activities, it can take up to 1,000 hours or more to get the same thing. Some of the places he has recorded over the years have slowly fallen silent.”

16.Why is the coconut different from most other fruits?
A.Stamps can be put on it. B.Every part of it is useful.
C.People send it in a package. D.Addresses can be written on it.
17.What does the underlined word “power” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A.Make room for. B.Add value to. C.Provide energy for. D.Put weight on.
18.In which part of the magazine could we read the passage?
A.Story Time. B.History World. C.Sports News. D.Amazing Nature.
19.What’s the main purpose of the passage?
A.To advise people to protect coconuts. B.To ask people to grow more coconuts.
C.To show the value and uses of coconuts. D.To introduce a fuel made from coconuts.
20.What would be the best structure of the passage?
A. B. C. D.
【答案】16.B 17.C 18.D 19.C 20.B

21.What is the right order according to paragraph 2?
a. The super giant reeds are cut by the Landuo team.
b. The super giant reeds are heated up to make natural gas.

d. The Landuo team put the super giant reeds in a special place without O2.
A.a-b-c-d B.b-a-c-d C.c-b-d-a D.c-a-d-b
22.How many kilocalories of energy does a kilogram of super giant reed produce?
A.1,000 to 1,500. B.2,000 to 3,500.
C.4,000 to 4,500. D.5,000 to 5,500.
23.How does the writer support the main idea of paragraph 4?
A.By listing numbers. B.By telling stories.
C.By asking questions. D.By giving suggestions.
24.In which part of a newspaper can you probably read the text?
A.People. B.Science. C.Sports. D.Travel.
25.What can be the best title for the text?
A.Fossil Fuels B.CO2 Emissions
C.Wild Giant Reed D.Super Giant Reed

【答案】例文
Boys and girls,
I am Li Hua. Our school is holding an activity named “A Greener Life for You and Me”. I’m here to call on everybody to take part in this activity and live a greener life.
First of all, we should clear our plates while having meals. Wasting food is not a good habit. Besides, it is a good idea to reuse the old books. Instead of throwing away those used books, we’d better give them away to the students who are in need. Last but not least, turn off the lights before leaving. We should try our best to save energy.
Let’s take action now and start with the little things around us!
Thanks!
