My family lives in a small apartment. We do not have a backyard, but we love plants. One day, mom and I decided to make a window box herb garden.
First, we went to the library to read about how to grow herbs in window boxes. Then we went to the gardening store and bought a long window box with a long “dish” that fits under it, some soil, and packets of seeds. Then we went for a “coffee talk” at a coffee shop and talked about what delicious meals we would make with our herbs.
At home, we put some small stones at the bottom of the box. The stones help the water move out of the soil and into the dish below. If the water can’t get out, the soil stays too wet and the herbs won’t grow well.
Mom and I both love pizza, so we made sure to plant a lot of basil. I love the smell of fresh basil! We also planted rosemary, which tastes good with roast lamb That smells wonderful too. We planted mint because mom wanted to try making fresh mint tea.
We placed the window box on top of the fridge and waited for the seeds to grow. Then we put the box on the shelf outside the kitchen window to get sunlight. My mom and I love to smell our fresh herbs. Now, every time I look out of the window or help mom cook, I see our little garden growing. It reminds me that you don’t need a big yard to enjoy nature—Sometimes, all you need is a little soil, some seeds, and a heart full of hope.

Everyone may feel angry at any time. It’s a common feeling. Some people cry when they feel angry and some may shout. Unluckily, many of us have been used to hiding anger. A study suggests that this can have long-term bad influences on our health.
Is it better to cry or break things whenever something makes us angry? The study points out that when we show our anger in this way, we can’t probably get on well with our friends or our family. The more time we keep being angry, the worse result we’ll get. So how can we deal with our feeling of anger in a right way?
First, know what anger is. Anger is often caused by feelings of being too afraid, disappointment and so on.
Also, care more about those everyday things that will make us angry. For example, we may get angry in a long line at the store. Take a step back and think that it isn’t personal. Everyone in the line has dinner to make, just like us. Then we’ll feel better. Another way of dealing with anger is to talk about it. The study has shown that if we name our feelings, we can slowly calm ourselves down.
Besides, take a deep breath or find some helpful exercise to do. Exercise helps deal with anger.
Remember that how we act when we are angry can make things better or worse. If we learn to deal with anger, we will be happier and healthier.

With the holiday season coming, many children are dreaming of the latest toys. This year, artificial intelligence (AI) toys that can talk and learn are becoming popular gifts. However, a new report asks an important question: Are these smart toys safe for kids?
Teresa Murray, who is one of the report writers, says some of these AI toys may talk about a lot of topics that some parents might find worrying. It could be how to find dangerous objects in the home, such as matches and knives, and how to light those matches. It could be about what happened to people who died. And it could be topics that some parents may not be comfortable with their kids hearing about.
The problems don’t stop there. The report also shows that these toys are listening and collecting information. They can record a child’s voice, ask for their names and their dates of birth, and even talk about the kid’s likes, dislikes, favorite toys, and favorite friends. “The one toy that we looked at has facial recognition software (识别软件), and because it’s connected to the Internet, anything is available (可获得的). Who knows what those toys might start talking to your children about?” says Teresa Murray, “It’s really terrible.”
Murray points out that this is different from smartphones. On phones, parents can use parental controls to block (屏蔽) what they consider harmful. However, when you hand an AI toy to a child, you can’t control what it gets from the Internet. Because the toys are online, kids could see almost anything on the web.
If a child wants an AI toy for a gift, what should a parent do? Murray suggests that families make the decision themselves, but be careful. If you buy one, you should first test the toy for at least an hour. Try asking the questions a child might ask, because safety systems can sometimes fail after a few minutes. Parents must know that these toys are able to collect almost all private information before deciding if the risk is worth the hugs.
56.According to the report, parents may worry about whether AI toys are ________.
A.safe for kids to use B.popular with kids

In today’s world, we use the internet for many things, but it’s not the only place where our private information is used. When we’re busy with daily tasks, sharing personal things like our names, addresses, or phone numbers can be as simple as making a shopping list. Whether we’re online or using other ways to communicate, we must take steps to protect our information.
When we’re online, always be careful. Only visit safe websites—look for “https” in the address bar. Never share passwords (密码), bank numbers, or other important information with anyone we don’t trust. Choose strong passwords for our accounts by using a mix of letters, numbers and symbols. Of course, don’t forget to change them often.
When we’re offline, be wise about sharing information. When we write down our personal information, keep it in a safe place, such as a locked drawer. When we throw away papers with our names and addresses, break them into small pieces first so that others can’t read them. When we finish using public computers, make sure to sign out of our accounts.
For our devices (设备), we should always keep them safe. Get updates (更新) when they come out. These updates often fix problems that can make our devices unsafe. They protect against bad programs that might steal our information.
Remember, our personal information is valuable. Small actions can make a big difference in keeping it safe. By being careful and following these habits, we can protect ourselves from risks and enjoy a safer life.
71.What can feel as simple as a shopping list when we’re busy?
72.How can we make a strong password?
73.When do we need to sign out of our accounts on public computers?

例文
A happy memory I will never forget
As I look back on my junior high school years, countless memories flood into my mind.
Among them, one memory that has impressed me most is the school sports meeting last year. I took part in the 800-meter race. At first, I ran very fast, but soon I felt tired and wanted to give up. Then I heard my classmates cheering loudly for me. Their voices gave me strength, and I kept running to the finish line. Although I didn’t win first place, my classmates surrounded me and praised me for my effort.
This moment taught me the importance of encouragement and friendship. I will never forget the warmth of my classmates and the joy of not giving up. It will stay in my heart forever.

“an ancient Chinese art”和“over 2,000 years of history”之间是伴随关系,表示皮影戏具有2000多年的历史,with“具有,带有”符合语境。in“在……
前文提到“Grandpa held thin sticks connected to the puppets”,可知是通过移动这些棍子来让木偶移动,sticks“棍子”符合。
my“我的”、her“她的”、your“你的”均不符合语境。
give in“屈服”、give out“分发;发出”、give away“赠送;泄露”均不符合语境。

③ Planted the herbs. ④ Bought things from the store.
A.②-④-①-③ B.④-②-③-① C.②-①-④-③ D.①-②-③-④
48.What’s the writer’s purpose of writing paragraph 4?
A.To tell a story about cooking.
B.To describe how the plants grow.
C.To explain why they chose those plants.
D.To compare the smells of different plants.
49.What does “a heart full of hope” suggest in the last sentence?
A.Being wealthy and rich. B.Feeling positive about life.

50.What is the text mainly about?
A.The smell of different fresh plants.
B.The use of herbs for cooking meals.

C.expensive for families D.fun for kids to play with
57.How does the writer show the possible risks of AI toys in paragraph 2?
A.By telling a story. B.By giving examples.
C.By asking questions. D.By comparing numbers.
58.What can some AI toys record?
A.Pets’ toys. B.Teachers’ names. C.Parents’ birthdays. D.Children’s voices.
59.What should parents do if they want to buy AI toys from the last paragraph?
A.Buy the latest model to keep the children safe.
B.Avoid buying any toy that connects to the Internet.
C.Test the toy themselves first and understand the risks.
D.Let the child decide freely since the toys are educational.
60.Which word can best express the writer’s feeling towards AI toys?
A.Encouraged. B.Uninterested. C.Worried. D.Surprised.

Then I heard my classmates cheering loudly for me. Their voices gave me strength, and I kept running to the finish line. Although I didn’t win first place, my classmates surrounded me and praised me for my effort.
