We take selfies (when we try on a new hat, play with our pets or when we meet a
friend whom we haven't seen in a while. But does this crazy actually make sense? Is there any
scientific explanation for it?
Well, you should probably ask James Kilner,a neuroscientist(神经科学家)at University
College London.Through our lifetime,we become experts at reading and telling other people's
faces and facial expressions. However, according to Kilner,we have a very poor understanding of
our own faces since we have little experience of looking at them-we just feel them most of the
time.
This has been proved in some studies in which people were shown photos of themselves and
asked to match their facial expressions in the pictures. In most cases, they failed to correctly
produce the same facial expressions without being able to see themselves in the mirror, according
to BBC.
To further test how we actually sense our own faces,Kilner carried out another study. He
showed people two kinds of their own pictures-one had been edited to look less
beautiful and the one was made more beautiful-and asked them to pick the version which they
thought looked most like them.Kilner found that most people chose the more beautiful picture.
This suggests that we usually think of ourselves as better-looking than we actually are.
But what does it say about selfies?Well, isn't that clear?Selfies give us the power to create
a photo-—by taking it from different angles(角度),with different poses,using filters(滤
and so on-that better matches our expectations with our actual faces.
"You suddenly have control in a way that you don't have in the real world."Kilner told the
Canada-based CTA News."Selfies allow you to keep taking pictures until you manage to take
one you're happy with",he explained.
24.How does the writer lead in the topic"selfie"in Paragraph 1?
A.By asking questions.B.By comparing facts.C.By giving examples.
25.We can learn from Paragraph 2 and Paragraph 3 that people are
A.proud of the photos of their own
B.able to remember their own faces easily
C.good at understanding others by their faces
26.According to Kilner,taking selfies
九年级英语试题第3页共8页

B.meets people's needs to know their own faces better
C.makes people possible to reach their expectation
27.Which might be the best title of the passage?
A.What Is the Selfies B.Why Do You Take Selfies C.How Can We Take Selfies
The 2026 CCTV Spring Festival Gala amazed people around the world with its cool mix of
technology and traditional culture.Different from past years, the 2026 Gala used new
technologies like AI,3D projection and VR,wonderfully showing a new look of Chinese culture.
The most shocking act was the "Wu BOT".These 1.8-meter-tall H2 robots, wearing red
martial arts robes(武术t袍服),performed with students from Tagou Martial Arts School..They did
backflips(后空翻),sword dances(剑舞),and even the classic Drunken Fist(醉拳).What amazed
people most was that some robots even finished difficult moves while running, which no one had
ever seen before in the world! This performance was not only a wonder of modern technology,
but also a fascinating show of the beauty of Chinese martial arts.
In another program, dancers moved to the beat of traditional folk music.3D projections
turned the whole stage (into a lively, old Chinese painting. It looked like the performers
were walking inside a valuable work of art.At the same time,AI technology played a key role in
"making history come alive".It helped bring back the sounds of old musical instruments.People
all lost themselves in the beautiful, classical songs that had been silent for hundreds of years.
While using these new technologies, the Gala stayed true to the heart of traditional arts. And
it showed many traditional art forms, such as Peking Opera,Kunqu Opera, folk songs and fine
paper cuttings. These acts were much more than just fun to watch. They were lively ties to our
past. They carried the deep memories and feelings that Chinese people have for their hometowns
and cultural roots.
The 2026 Spring Festival Gala showed us technology is not here to take the place of our
traditions, but a good tool that makes them shine even brighter.By mixing the old and the new.
we can pass on Chinese traditional culture to the young in a more creative way.
28.What was the most amazing part about the"Wu BOT"performance?
A.They wore red martial arts robes.
B.They danced with martial arts students.
C.They did difficult moves while running.
29.Why did the writer mention Peking Opera,Kunqu Opera and paper cuttings?
A.To compare them with the robot show.
B.To show the Gala still values traditional arts.
C.To explain how AI was used in each performance.
30.What does the writer think of the role of technology in culture?
A.It has no place in cultural events.
B.It can make traditions more creative.
C.It might take the place of traditional performances.
31.Which of the following best shows the structure of this passage?
(①=Paragraph1,②=Paragraph.2.)
A.(1/2)3)4)/5
B.①②/③④/⑤
C.①/②③/④⑤

Artificial Intelligence(AL,人工智能)is changing our world quickly..It is not just a new
technology in books or movies anymore;it is becoming part of our daily lives. From smart
九年级英语试题第4页共8页
speakers that help us find information to self-driving cars that travel on roads,Al is making life
more convenient. However, this rapid development also brings many challenges.
One of the biggest advantages of AI is that it can make our lives much easier. In daily life,
AI assistants can help us plan our days, translate languages in real-time,and remind us of
important tasks. In hospitals,AI can help doctors find diseases early by analyzing medical images.
This means that AI can save lives and improve healthcare. In schools,AI tools can help students
learn by providing personalized exercises and answering questions immediately. These functions
show that AI has great potential to help people.
Despite the benefits,AI also causes concerns. Many people worry that AI will take away
people's jobs. For example, some simple jobs like working in a factory or checking data may be
done by robots in the future. This could lead to unemployment for many workers.Another worry
is privacy.AI systems collect a lot of data about us to work well.If this data is not protected,it
may be used in wrong ways. Some people also worry that Al may become too smart and control
the world, just like in some science fiction movies.
To solve these problems, experts suggest that we should use AI wisely. We need to make
strict rules to protect our privacy and ensure that AI is used for good.Instead of replacing humans,
AI should be a tool that helps us work better and smarter. With proper management,Al can bring
a brighter future for everyone.
32.What is the main idea of Paragraph 2?
A.The history of AI technology.
B.The good things AI brings to our lives.
C.The problems AI causes for jobs.
33.What does the underlined word "privacy"in Paragraph 3 probably mean?
A.The right to keep personal information safe.
B.The ability to do a job very well.
C.The time that people spend on learning.
34.Which of the following is TRUE about Al?
A.AI only helps people in hospitals.
B.AI will never cause any problems.
C.AI should be used wisely with rules
35.What is the writer's attitude (towards AI?
A.Very worried that AI will destroy the world.
B.Hopeful that AI can be good if used correctly.
C.Angry about all the changes AI brings.

The earliest form of writing appeared about 5,500 years ago.In the past, hand writing was
an important subject in school. Now,many students sometimes do homework on a computer and
turn in their tasks online.
Many people think typing (is quick and easy to read, while writing by hand may take
longer than typing. But others say writing with a pen and paper is more valuable.Writing by hand
has big advantages.Research shows that when we write down ideas with a pen or pencil,we
make the brain active to help us learn, remember and think.Writing by hand lets people show
their creativity. No two people have the same handwriting.Writing by hand can also help people
concentrate. When using a computer, people can go online or play computer games easily.
Handwriting may be pretty, however, people can get their ideas and thoughts down more
quickly when they type.Typing can also make it easier for people to change.Once something is
written by hand, you can't delete it.If you want to make a change, you have to write it all over
