Possible version:
A Lesson from Nature
Last summer, a sudden and terrible rainstorm hit our city. I was at home alone when the wind roared outside and the rain beat heavily against the window. The power even went out for a while. I felt scared and helpless at that moment.
After the storm, I saw fallen trees and water on the streets. I realized how powerful nature could be. Facing it, we humans seem so small. This experience taught me an important lesson: we must always respect nature. We should also try our best to protect the environment, because what we do to nature, we do to ourselves. Only by living in harmony with nature can we have a safer and better world.

第二部分 阅读理解(共三节,满分30分)
第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分)
根据短文内容,判断正误(正确"T",错误"F")。
In many countries, people have some special ideas about weather and health. For example, in western countries, some believe that cold weather can make you catch a cold. But is that true? Scientists say that getting cold doesn't directly give you a cold. A cold is caused by a virus (病毒). However, cold weather might make your body weaker to fight the virus if you are already around it.
In China, there is an old saying, “Spring covers; autumn freezes.” It means in early spring, you should keep wearing warm clothes, but in autumn, you don't need to put on too many clothes too quickly. This helps your body get used to (习惯) the changing temperature. It is a traditional way to stay healthy.
Modern science also shows that sudden changes in temperature can be stressful for the body. So, whether you follow the old saying or the latest advice, the key idea is to listen to your body and keep it comfortable. Staying healthy is about building good habits, no matter what the weather is like.
21. Western people believe that a virus causes a cold, not the cold weather.
22. The weather can make your body stronger to fight the virus according to scientists.

His mother came in with a flashlight (手电筒). “Don't be scared, Tom. It's just a blackout. The storm must have broken a power line (电线).”
Tom felt a little nervous. He had never experienced a blackout before. To make him feel better, his mother said, “How about we tell some stories?” Tom agreed. They sat by the window, watching the rain pour down outside. His mother told him stories about her childhood when they didn’t have much electricity. They used to light candles and play games.
As Tom listened, his fear went away. About an hour later, the lights came back on. The house lit up again. Tom looked at his mother and smiled. “That was actually fun, Mom. Can we do it again sometime?”

Have you ever seen lightning (闪电) during a storm? It's beautiful but can also be very dangerous. In fact, lightning is one of nature's most powerful forces. A single bolt (闪电) can heat the air around it to five times hotter than the sun!
So, what should you do to stay safe during a lightning storm? Here are some important tips.
First, it's safest to stay inside a large, closed building. Once you are inside, avoid using anything that plugs into a wall, like computers or TVs, because electricity can travel through wires (电线). Also, stay away from water. Do not take a shower or wash your hands, as water can carry electricity.
If you are caught outside with no shelter (遮蔽物) nearby, never lie flat on the ground. Instead, crouch down (蹲下) in a ball-like shape, with your head low and your hands covering your ears. Try to stay away from tall, lonely trees or other tall objects because lightning is more likely to hit them.
Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Knowing these safety rules can help protect you and your family from this force of nature.
36. How does the writer show the power of lightning in paragraph 1?
A. By telling a story. B. By asking a question.
C. By giving an example. D. By using numbers.
37. Which of the following is a safe place during a lightning storm?
A. Under a big tree. B. Near a river.
C. Inside a large building. D. In an open field.

A. Lie flat on the ground to keep low.
B. Stand under a tall tree for shelter.
C. Use an umbrella to keep dry.
D. Crouch down with your head low.
39. According to the passage, what does the saying “When thunder roars, go indoors!” mean?
A. It's a good time to listen to thunder inside.
B. You should go inside as soon as you hear thunder.
C. You should roar like thunder when you are inside.
D. It's safe to stay outside if you only hear thunder.
