Building Healthy Schools
In early 2026, the Ministry of Education introduced a new guideline to build “healthy schools” across China. Now many students are facing serious physical and mental (心理的) health problems and the problems brought great trouble to schools and families. 46
To keep students healthy, schools should offer enough exercise time, mental health support and safe meals. Students should get at least two hours of exercise a day outside the classroom, and schools are encouraged to hold more sports meetings and class matches. 47 A special system should be set up to find and help students with mental problems early. Besides, schools must also provide safe and healthy food. The guideline helps schools pay more attention to health instead of only scores.
48 In fact, proper exercise makes students more active and better at learning. To help students get enough rest and sports, too much after-school training should be cut down. Parents should encourage children to exercise and keep healthy routines at home.
Society can also do its part. 49 The “Health First” idea is a lifestyle, not just a policy (政策). Schools, families, and society should work together to create a better environment for students to keep healthy.
50 Let us take health seriously and keep exercising. Only with a strong and healthy body can we study better, grow confidently, and face the future with energy.
A.Mental health is also an important part of this effort.
B.It can help by building more sports places in communities.
C.The government has set clear requirements for schools to follow.

Imagine being unable to move or speak, yet still able to control your home or a robotic arm—just by thinking. This sounds like science fiction, but it’s becoming reality. Companies like Neuralink are developing Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) technology, which creates a direct connection between the human brain and computers.
How can BCI make it? Actually, it is a system that can read the brain’s signals and translate them into orders. Although the idea has been around since the 20th century, with the development of neuroscience (神经科学) and artificial intelligence (AI), BCI technology is developing faster than ever.
BCI can change many parts of users’ life. For disabled people, it can be a window to the world. It’s possible for them to move again or search online by using their thoughts. For common people, BCI could create much pleasure and educational experiences through controlling the video game or simulation with your mind. BCI also provides much convenience for the public services. Firefighters might guide robots into dangerous situations while staying safe themselves.
China is also making impressive progress in BCI research. A Chinese research team led by Fang Ying at the Beijing Institute of Brain Research has created a safer micro-electrode that can adapt to the brain’s natural movement.
Although making BCI work perfectly is quite challenging, the researchers are confident that the system can be quickly improved over the next few years. “This work gives us real hope. We believe that speech BCIs can one day restore communication that is as fluent, natural, and comfortable as conversational speech,” says neuroscientist Frank Willett.

The star of the race was “Lightning,” an autonomous robot from Honor’s “Monkey King” team. It finished in an astonishing 50 minutes and 26 seconds. This time was faster than the current men’s human world record of 57 minutes and 20 seconds. Although a remote-controlled “Lightning” crossed the finish line first in 48:19, its weighted score was lower.
This year’s event was a huge leap from 2025. The number of teams grew five times, and robots’ speed doubled or tripled. Engineers designed the robots by studying professional human runners. They used advanced cooling systems and powerful batteries to keep them running steadily. The race showed how quickly robot technology is developing and how it may change our future lives.
