Hagen speaks . .9. . of Chinese TV series like Still Life and The Piano in a

新素材│云南山葵激活山地繁荣
素材来源: China Daily
[2026原创]Wasabi (山葵), a long-living plant with a strong-
smelling root used for a well-known seasoning, is tough to cultivate. It thrives in
cool, wet conditions, shuns hot weather and direct sunlight, and demands specific
altitudes and water settings. Its root takes two to three years to be harvest-ready.
In Japan, top quality wasabi roots can fetch 1,200 yuan per kilogram, yet
demand still outstrips supply.

Weixin County in Yunnan, on the north of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau,
offers an ideal environment. With plenty of rain, lush greenery, an average annual
temperature of 13.6 , and high humidity, it closely resembles Shizuoka, a famous
wasabi-growing area in Japan.
Weixin first successfully grew wasabi in 1997.In 2022, Jinkui Agriculture
(Yunnan) Co., Ltd. set up a large wasabi industrial zone. This zone has six
production lines for processing, making powder, freezing, and extracting useful
substances, producing over 100 tons of wasabi and related products annually.

The wasabi industry has opened up new opportunities for local farmers.
Previously, many relied on unstable and low-income crops like corn and tobacco.
Now, over 230 hectares are used for wasabi cultivation, creating 1,200 local jobs
and boosting the average household’s annual income by 6,200 yuan.
Science is also driving the industry forward. The county collaborates with
schools and research institutes to select quality seeds and develop new products.
A wasabi association has been formed, uniting over 30 local companies and
teams. Nearby areas are joining in, and wasabi is finding its way into more local
dishes.#1.7

Passage 4
新素材│人工智能对人类思维能力的影响
素材来源: New Scientist
[2026原创]Have you ever thought you were good at
something, only to find out you weren’t? This is known
as the Dunning-Kruger effect, which means people who aren’t very good at a
given task are overconfident, while people with high ability tend to underestimate
their skills. It’s often revealed by cognitive tests—which contain problems to
assess attention, decision-making, judgment and language.
1

4
5
6
33
But now, scientists at Finland’s Aalto University (together with collaborators
in Germany and Canada) have found that using artificial intelligence (AI) all
but removes the Dunning-Kruger effect—in fact, it almost reverses it. Their
research showed that when using common chatbots to solve problems, everyone
(regardless of their skill level) tended to put too much faith in the quality of
the answers, with the most experienced AI users doing so the most. The team
published their findings in the Feb.2026 edition of the journal Computers in
Human Behavior. The study involved 500 people doing logical reasoning tasks,
with half using ChatGPT.Both groups were later asked about their AI skills and
how well they thought they performed.
1
2
3
4
5
6
The results showed that AI users were often satisfied with the first answer
they got, without checking further. This“cognitive offloading” meant they didn’t
think deeply about the problems, reducing their ability to judge their performance
accurately. The study also found that AI helps everyone perform better, narrowing
the gap between high-skilled and low-skilled users.
As AI becomes more common, the researchers warn that our ability to think
critically may suffer. To prevent this, they suggest AI should encourage users to
question answers more, like asking, “How confident are you in this answer?”
This could help us stay sharp and make better decisions in an AI-filled world.#1.6

24.What is the Dunning-Kruger effect?( )
D
A.AI makes everyone equally skilled.
B.People with high skills are overconfident.
C.High-skilled people always perform better than low-skilled people.
D.Low-skilled people overestimate their abilities, while high-skilled people
underestimate theirs.
【解析】细节理解题。根据第一段的“which means people who aren’t very good
at a given task are overconfident, while people with high ability tend to
underestimate their skills”可知,邓宁-克鲁格效应指的是不擅长某项任务的人过于
自信,而能力强的人则倾向于低估自己的技能,故选D项。

A.They are less confident than non-AI users.
B.They tend to overtrust AI answers without further checking.
C.They perform worse than those who don’t use AI.
D.They always check answers carefully before accepting them.
【解析】细节理解题。根据第二段的“when using common chatbots to solve
problems, everyone (regardless of their skill level) tended to put too much
faith in the quality of the answers”以及第三段的“The results showed that AI
users were often satisfied with the first answer they got, without checking further.”

D.Train users to ignore AI answers.
【解析】细节理解题。根据最后一段的“To prevent this, they suggest AI should
encourage users to question answers more”可知,研究人员建议让人工智能鼓励使

[2026原创]On a mid-autumn night, Australian scholar Jordan
Martin—also known by his Chinese name Ma Zhaoren—walked through the

After getting both his master’s and doctorate in philosophy at the academy,
he joined its faculty in 2022. Today, he teaches and researches Chinese
philosophy with a focus on pre-Qin thought. He tries to understand its roots and
share its wisdom with people today.
Martin first came to China to learn Chinese well. He needed to live in a
place where Chinese was spoken all the time. Yuelu Academy was more than
just a school to him. “It has a special feeling of purpose and purity,” he says.
Martin believes that ideas from pre-Qin are still important today. For
example, he says that humans are special because they can work together.

Modern society depends on people’s cooperation, even if they don’t know each
other. Martin also connects these old ideas with modern science. He thinks some
moral ideas are shared not just by Chinese but also by all people.
Martin feels proud and responsible as a teacher at Yuelu Academy. He
works hard to prepare his lessons in Chinese. He also tells people about Yuelu
Academy at international meetings. He says, “I want colleagues to be curious. It
plants a seed.”
Martin believes that Yuelu Academy shows how people can keep their
traditions while learning new things. He tries to do the same in his own life.#1.8
