书面表达 (范文)
The Power of a Small Kindness
A small act of kindness can make a big difference. I learned this from an experience in my school library.
One rainy afternoon, I saw a nervous boy searching for his lost bus card. He was sweating and looked helpless. I remembered I had some change in my pocket. I walked over and gave him 5 yuan for the bus. At first, he refused, but I told him it was fine. He thanked me and rushed to catch the bus. The next day, he found me and returned the money with a big smile. I felt warm inside.
That small kindness came back with a smile and gratitude. It reminded me that helping others also brings happiness to ourselves.

Yunnan is working hard to become a “green energy province” (绿色能源强省). Do you know about the “giant panda” of the energy world? It is the Baihetan Hydropower Station (白鹤滩水电站) on the Jinsha River. It is one of the largest and most powerful hydropower stations in the world.
The station started full operation in 2022. It can produce over 62 billion kilowatt-hours (亿千瓦时) of electricity every year. That is enough to power the whole city of Shanghai for nearly half a year! What’s more, this clean energy helps reduce (减少) 52 million tons of carbon dioxide (二氧化碳) each year.
The construction (建设) of Baihetan was not easy. Workers had to face high temperatures, strong winds, and difficult geography. They also invented many new technologies to build the world’s tallest dam (坝) of its kind. Three-quarters of the technologies used were created by Chinese engineers and scientists.
Now, the electricity from Baihetan is sent to eastern China, including Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. It not only supports development there but also helps protect the environment by reducing the use of coal.
Yunnan is proud of having such a “green giant”. It shows that China is serious about environmental protection and technological innovation (创新).

22. The Baihetan Hydropower Station started full operation in 2022.

Every morning, when the first light comes over the terraced fields (梯田) of Yuanyang, Yunnan, a 67-year-old woman, Grandma Li, begins her “show”. Dressed in her traditional Hani ethnic clothing, she is not a singer or a dancer, but a model on Douyin? No. She is a protector of the Honghe Hani Rice Terraces, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Grandma Li has lived by the terraces for her whole life. Twenty years ago, she noticed that many young people left the village to find work in cities. The beautiful terraces were becoming wild grass land because no one took care of them. She felt very sad.
“If the terraces die, our Hani culture will die too,” she thought. So, she decided to act.
She started by cleaning the small waterways (水道) that bring water to the terraces every morning. It was hard work, but she never gave up. Gradually, a few old neighbors joined her. They repaired broken walls and planted rice in the traditional way.
Their story touched a young photographer from Beijing. He made a short video about Grandma Li and posted it online. The video went viral (走红). Many people were moved by her simple yet strong love for her land.
Soon, the government provided money to help repair more terraces. Some young people returned to the village. They used social media to sell the red rice grown on the terraces. They also started eco-friendly farm stays (生态农场民宿) for tourists.
Now, Grandma Li is still working on the terraces. She smiles and says, “I’m not a hero. I just don’t want to lose our home.”

Imagine you have a test and you are allowed to bring a “cheat sheet”. But instead of writing words, you draw small pictures. This is the idea behind “memory drawing”, a new study method popular among some Chinese middle school students.
Memory drawing is different from simply taking notes. When you draw, you have to think about the information and change it into a picture. For example, to remember the word “photosynthesis” (光合作用), you might draw a sun shining on a leaf. This process helps your brain understand and keep the information better.
Scientists have found that drawing is a powerful memory tool. In a 2018 study, researchers asked students to remember words. Some students wrote the words repeatedly, others wrote down descriptions, and others drew the words. The result? The students who drew remembered almost twice as many words as those who wrote them.
Why does drawing work so well? There are three main reasons:
1. It uses more brain areas. Writing uses language areas, but drawing uses language, spatial (空间的), and visual (视觉的) areas at the same time. This creates a stronger memory “trace” (痕迹) in your brain.
2. It forces you to focus on meaning. To draw a concept (概念), you have to ask yourself: “What is the most important part of this idea?” This deep thinking is very good for learning.
3. It’s more fun. Let’s be honest: drawing is usually more interesting than copying words over and over. When you enjoy a task, you pay more attention and remember it longer.
However, memory drawing also has some challenges. It can take more time than writing notes. Also, it might be hard to draw very complex (复杂的) ideas. So, experts suggest using it for key concepts and combining it with other study methods.
36. According to the text, what is “memory drawing”?
A. Copying notes from the blackboard.
B. Turning information into pictures to remember.
C. Drawing pictures for an art class.
D. Writing a “cheat sheet” for a test.
37. What did the 2018 study find?
A. Drawing is the only way to remember words.
B. Writing descriptions is better than drawing.
C. Drawing helps students remember much better.
D. Repeating words is the most efficient method.
38. Why does drawing use more brain areas than writing?
A. Because it is more difficult.
B. Because it is more interesting.
C. Because it involves language, spatial, and visual skills.
D. Because it requires a pen or pencil.
39. What is a possible challenge of using memory drawing?
A. It makes students feel very tired. B. It may take more time than writing notes.
C. It can only be used for science classes. D. It is not allowed in most schools.
40. What is the writer’s attitude (态度) towards memory drawing?
A. He thinks it is a perfect method with no downsides.
B. He suggests using it carefully along with other methods.
C. He believes it is only useful for younger students.
D. He thinks it is a waste of time.
第三节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分)
根据短文内容,从短文后所给的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Do you feel nervous when you speak English in front of others? Many students do. But don’t worry. Here are some useful tips from language experts to help you become a confident English speaker.
◆ Start with “small” conversations. You don’t have to start a big discussion. 41 Greet your neighbor in the morning. Ask your friend “How was your math class?” These short and easy talks can build your confidence step by step.
◆ Accept mistakes as part of learning. Some students stop speaking because they are afraid of making mistakes. 42 Every mistake is a chance to learn something new. Even native speakers make mistakes sometimes.
◆ Prepare and practice for common topics. If you know you are going to talk about your hobby, practice the sentences at home. 43 This can help you feel more ready and less anxious when you actually speak.
◆ Use the “3-second” rule. In a conversation, if you can’t think of a word, don’t panic (惊慌). Pause (暂停) for three seconds and try to find another way to say it. 44 A simple “let me think” can give you a few more seconds.
◆ Record (录音) and listen to yourself. You might feel shy to hear your own voice. 45 When you listen to the recording, notice your pronunciation and try to improve it. This is a great way to see your progress.
A. But remember, making mistakes is normal.
B. You can ask the other person for help.
C. For example, “I like playing basketball because it’s exciting.”
D. Try to speak only with people who are better than you.
E. Instead, try to use English in very simple daily situations.
F. However, it is a very helpful exercise.
