At 40, I decided to try downhill skiing. My family and I had moved to Revelstoke, a place known for its ski hill. We moved for my husband Ty’s new job, but then we wanted to enjoy the town’s famous slopes (斜坡) as well.
Ty had some skiing experience, but I had only skied a few times, and it was much harder than I expected. Learning to ski brought out my wish to be perfect. At first, I felt upset not being able to do something that others did easily. I had to work through my fear of heights, falling, and getting hurt. Later I decided to keep skiing for the whole winter, so I took more lessons. My instructor told me I needed more confidence. She taught me that I couldn’t control the mountain, but I could choose how to face it.
Now, I’m still not a good skier, but I’m no longer afraid on the slopes. I feel excited and enjoy the view of the mountains when skiing. I learned that being good isn’t the point. The joy comes from learning something new and spending time with family. If you keep moving through fear, you’ll find joy on the other side.

A. For the town’s famous ski slopes. B. For the writer’s husband’s new job.

Keeping our teeth healthy is very important, as we only have one set of adult (成年的) teeth. Here are three useful tips for you.
First, brush your teeth with the right pressure. Brushing too hard will slowly hurt your teeth and gums (牙龈). About 80g of pressure is enough, and over 100g is harmful. You can test the pressure with a kitchen scale (称).
Second, choose the right toothpaste (牙膏). Whitening toothpaste can make teeth look bright, but they have abrasive particles (磨料颗粒). These may wear down your tooth surface if used daily. Use whitening toothpaste for short periods, and choose normal toothpaste for long-term use.
Third, don’t brush your teeth right after eating. Wait about 20 minutes first. Especially after eating sweet or sour food, brushing at once may hurt your tooth surface. Brushing twice a day is enough, as more brushing brings no more benefits.
Follow these simple tips, and you can keep your teeth healthy and strong.

【答案】One possible version:
As a middle school student, I sometimes felt worried and stressed. About two months ago, I was in a bad mood and hardly smiled.
To cheer myself up, I started to get close to nature. On weekends, I would go hiking with my parents. Walking among green trees and colorful flowers made me relaxed. I also enjoyed watching beautiful sunsets and gentle rivers. Being outdoors took away my unhappiness completely.
Nature is truly a wonderful medicine. It teaches me to stay peaceful and positive. Living in harmony with nature not only protects our world but also warms our hearts.
