Well, this is actually the first time that I have ever taught in an elementary classroom, but i'm a bit stuck right now. You know, the topic I want them to research is a bit hard for pupils. I'm afraid that they won't be able to handle IT on their own. So I need new ideas on designing more effective teaching methods. mr. Carter, do you have any suggestions? Well, you should probably read this book written by J. K. Simons. He is a professor who just transferred here last semester, but he is popular among students for his creative teaching methods. There is an extensive range of learning approaches mentioned in the book, including approaches for team research, which might be helpful to you. You mean dividing the students into groups to do research? I've never thought of this before. How does that work? Professor Simons has already demonstrated how efficient this approach can be. Basically, IT aims to increase CoOperation between students and help them develop their own voice and perspective. I'll check out the book as soon as possible. B For years, as an art influencer, I lived online, documenting all aspects of my life and desiring more followers on Instagram. A constant panic over lost connections, the emptiness of endless scrolling, and a nearly missed car accident left me feeling drained. Overwhelmed, I deactivated my account and bought an old Nokia. Then, everything changed. Only after giving up my smartphone did I realize how distracted and anxious I had become. Withdrawal was difficult, but as months passed, subtle changes accumulated. When the Internet wasn’t immediately accessible, the urge to use it faded away, and parts of me that had been buried under years of digital noise surfaced. Without endless scrolling, hours have returned to me. I can use the otherwise screen time to be healthy or productive, but I can also use it to appreciate the lost art of idleness. I spend a good part of the day just leafing through magazines, drinking cups of tea, poking clumsily at the piano. I don’t believe it is possible to waste time when I am fully present. Staying in touch has proved easier than expected. My dumbphone still allows calls and texts, and most online messaging tools are available on my computer. It turns out that the only people I really need to contact on the go are those I am working with. What time will you be there? or I’m running late — that’s urgent information. Some interactions, such as group chats, messages to friends and family abroad might feel urgent, but once I step away from them, I realize that the sense of urgency is a product of software engineering, my own anxiety, or a combination. It has been years since I downgraded. I now carry a film camera instead of a smartphone, and the deliberate act of taking photos brings me genuine joy. When people ask whether I miss my smartphone, I think back to the height of my addiction. I was constantly online, yet rarely present. How could I miss that time? I was hardly even there. 24. What does the underlined word “drained” mean in paragraph 1? A. Fascinated. B. Exhausted. C. Committed. D. Complex. 25. Which best describes the author’s life in paragraph 2? A. Absorbed in new hobbies. B. Stuck in digital withdrawal. C. Focused on quality moments. D. Built on health and productivity. 26. What does the author realize after shifting to the dumbphone? A. He has to rely on computers. B. Real-time contact is much needed. C. Close relationships are hard to maintain. D. The sense of urgency is overemphasized. 27. What does the author’s experience show? A. Stopping scrolling, restoring health. B. Quitting Instagram, embracing possibility. C. Downgrading devices, upgrading presence. D. Dropping smartphone, recognizing urgency. C Armed conflicts are known to impact humans significantly, but their effects on animals have often been underestimated. A recent study in Current Biology highlighted that the migration (迁徙) and reproduction of the endangered Greater Spotted Eagle may have been influenced by regional conflicts. The Greater Spotted Eagle is listed as vulnerable on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's red list. They migrate through Ukraine between wintering areas in southern Europe and East Africa and key breeding (繁衍) grounds in southern Belarus in spring. The research team studied 19 migrating GPS-tagged Greater Spotted Eagles in March and April of 2022. The flight altitude during this period was relatively low, about 350 meters, exposing them to regions of intense human conflicts. Their data suggested that increased military activity like jets, tanks and other weapons could disturb the eagles. When exposed to such events, the eagles might change their flight path to escape. The researchers found that while migrating through Ukraine, the eagles deviated (偏离) 10 percent more compared to previous years, which resulted in longer migration distances. Also, the birds made about 60 percent fewer stops during the migration. Human conflicts can affect the eagle’s decisions about when to take breaks during their journey, leading them to choose to keep moving even when they might need to rest. More notably, the eagles, which breed relatively slowly, face disturbances that impact chick (雏鸟)care and breeding success. It only takes minor conflicts to push animal populations into the danger zone. “Even with the onset of what could be a fairly minor conflict from a human perspective, we see the average wildlife population declining,” Joshua Daskin, an ecologist at Yale University told The New York Times. A large number of animal protection organizations have carried out disaster relief work to rescue, feed, treat and support animals during conflicts. However, very few have the resources to tackle the root problems. International humanitarian law lacks clear rules to relieve animal suffering in armed conflicts. Efforts like a 1995 draft prohibition to stop military activities in protected areas have not yet led to an international treaty (协定). International policies still need significant improvements to recognize and protect animals in conflict zones. 28. Which aspect of the Greater Spotted Eagles does the recent study focus on? A. Their survival skills. B. Their physical health. C. Their breeding habits. D. Their seasonal behavior. 29. How did regional conflicts affect the Greater Spotted Eagles? A. They increased their flight altitude. B. They did not follow their typical flight paths. C. They flew directly to their breeding grounds. D. They stopped more frequently during migration. 30. What does Joshua Daskin say about human conflicts? A. They affect certain animal species. B. They pose greater harm to humans than animals. C. Even small conflicts can negatively impact wildlife. D. Minor conflicts have a temporary effect on animals. 31. What is the last paragraph mainly about? A. The impact of wars on animal rescue work. B. The success of wildlife conservation efforts. C. The limitations of current animal protection laws. D. The challenges of enforcing international treaties. D In the risky world of nuclear arms control, Princeton student Lepowsky is exploring how robots can make inspections more accurate and acceptable to host nations worried about invasive (侵入的) traditional methods. His latest research has led to a robot performing inspections without saving sensitive information. “The host nation likely won’t want a human inspector poking their nose around,” said Lepowsky. “But even a robot has memory and sensors acquiring data.” The goal is to have high-confidence inspections without the robot saving information. For example, the robot would not save radiation measurements or create floor plans of sensitive areas. The new prototype (样机) is built on an iRobot Create 3 platform, an educational robot. Robots offer advantages over human inspectors:they can tolerate higher radiation levels, are more consistent, and can be cheaper. They also can be programmed to generate trust, such as not using cameras to avoid seeing unwanted details. The idea for the robot started with Lepowsky’s adviser, Glaser, who was curious about creating a “forgetful robot” that could perform highly accurate nuclear arms inspections but forget everything afterward. This led to an even more interesting idea: “Rather than forgetting, we’re not even remembering in the first place,” Lepowsky said. He believes this feature can reassure hosts concerned about privacy. Lepowsky likes the interdisciplinary nature of his work — drawing on both his robotics and policy expertise — and he likes that it requires a breadth of knowledge, not just depth. He values that his research is grounded in real-life applications for global security and nuclear nonproliferation (防扩散). Predicting when the robot might be used in the field is difficult. “It’s easy to say, today, it’s not very realistic, but you have to be ready for if and when it becomes possible,” said Lepowsky. Research into this problem is very active. Because arms control is changing, the specific objectives of future agreements are hard to predict. “But we can hope they will be positive, and we need to be ready, technically. “ 32. In which aspect is Lepowsky’s robot different from human inspectors? A. Data security. B. Memory capacity. C. Social acceptance. D. User friendliness. 33. What is said about the robot in paragraph 3? A. Its accurate system. B. Its privacy risks. C. Its design mechanism. D. Its operational problems. 34. What does Lepowsky like about his work? A. Scientific research data. B. Real-time technical cooperation. C. In-depth theoretical studies. D. Integrated knowledge across fields. 35. Which would be the best title for this passage? A. Princeton’s “Forgetful” Robots in Global Security B. No-Memory Robots:The Future of Nuclear Checks? C. Nuclear Arms Control:Robots or Human Inspectors? D. Lepowsky’s “Curious” Robots for Radiation Detection 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Many adults are proud to share their fascinations with what others would label as kids’ toys. Mini Brand mystery packs or other blind boxes have become a phenomenon as collectibles for some adults. ____36____ For others, Legos are on their wishlist encouraged by the brand’s growing number of grown-up sets. ____37____ Seeking and sparking child-like joy may be part of the appeal, said behavioral therapist Maddy Ellberger. “When something reminds us of a positive memory, we are likely to engage with it because the association relives memories.” ____38____ Clothing brands are also cashing in on nostalgia (怀旧情怀) from Crocs creating a Lizzie McGure clog to Lululemon’s Disney collection making a full comeback that includes adults. Barbie isn’t just for kids’ clothes now either, thanks to the recent film and “Barbie-core” fashion trend. In addition to the trendy appeal, the new-found love for these items also speaks to a desire for connection in an increasingly divided world. But whether that desire for connection is satisfied depends on if you can translate the excitement into real, in-person connection. ____39____ But having or wearing the same thing is not the actual steps of forming shared identity. “And I feel like it’s not one that’s going to last,” Ellberger said. Ellberger has a great idea for this. “You are into a certain trend, like toys. There’s a good chance you’ll find others who are into the same trend. ____40____ If it was part of a person’s screen saver, Santa or white elephant, that’s a really cute way of connecting over this,” she said. A. The craze goes beyond toys. B. So, what’s with the fascination? C. It’s a great way to form community. D. Then give these toys to them as holiday gifts. E. Social media fuels the trend by creating shared experiences. F. Even stuffed animals are making their way into adults’ collections. G. Childhood favorites have instead become relevant to adults again. 第三部分:语言应用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 “Why don’t you ‘act black’?’’ Since my middle school years, I’ve been asked this question more than any other. It seems to me that too many people have let society ___41___ into their brains what should be expected of me, a black person, before ever ___42___ with me. I am now in my junior year of high school. I still take all Honors courses. My wardrobe still only consists of clothes that are ____51____ to my proportions (身体比例). Her elder sister Serena was now dancing at a college. Though Kelly’s mom always wanted her to follow in her sister’s footsteps and Kelly herself was good at ballet, her love for ballet had faded years before, and she was eager for a new challenge. One day at school, as Kelly left the dance studio, she walked past the gym, fascinated by boxers training inside the boxing ring (拳击赛场). She was deeply impressed by how hard they hit and how fast they moved. In fact, she’d long been attracted to boxing. She pulled a piece of paper from her backpack. On the familiar Oakwood High School Club Sign-up Sheet was the phrase: BOXING CLUB TRYOUT (选拔). That was what Kelly really wanted to do. She knew her mom had high expectations for her when it came to ballet. Tired of trying to keep with her sister, Kelly was ready to carve (开辟) her own path. The next day, she gathered her courage and told Serena about her new passion. At first, Serena didn’t understand and thought she was just joking. But when she saw Kelly was serious, she replied, “You know Mom wants you to be a ballet dancer, right? Besides, boxing is only for boys, and you’re so good at ballet. Lean into your strength, Kelly.” “But this is where I want to put my strength,” Kelly insisted, “and what exactly does ‘only for boys’ mean, anyway? Boxing is a sport for everyone!” Gradually, touched by her determination and passion, Serena began to understand and support her. Kelly could feel it. Her sister was going to respect her decision, no matter what. But that was nothing compared to the preparations for the tryout, where she was required to show her footwork (步法) and punching (击打) abilities with other candidates (候选人). Boxing didn’t come natural to Kelly, but she had made úp her mind to stick with her choice. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Para l: Then Kelly began her training for the tryout, keeping it a secret from her mom. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Para 2: The following Monday, results of the boxing tryout were posted. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 芜湖一中2025-2026学年第二学期期中教学质量检测 高二英语试卷 第一部分:听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。每段对话后有一个小题,从题中所给的A,B,C三个选项中选出最佳选项。听完每段对话后,你都有10秒钟的时间来回答有关小题和阅读下一小题,每段对话读两遍。 1. 【此处可播放相关音频,请去附件查看】 Why is Craig standing outside? I hope that some of you will decide to take up nursing in the future because it is a fantastic job. First of all, I’ll tell you a little bit about how I got started. I had no idea what I wanted to do until I was about 14, when I was listening to a family conversation. My cousin was talking to my dad and telling him all about how much she enjoyed her work. She was a nurse in a busy hospital. And I thought, yeah, that’s exactly what I’d like to do. When I told my teachers that’s what I decided, they were very encouraging. But they did say that although I had always got good marks in English and biology, I’d have to get a little better at math, or I wouldn’t be able to do the job. Well I must say, it wasn’t easy being a student nurse. It involved lots of late nights staying up to do my coursework. But I’d known it would be like that. Anyway, I think I have one of the best jobs in the world. My sister is an accountant, and although she earns far more than I do, I think my job is much more rewarding. 第二部分:阅读(共两节,满分50分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分) 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项选出最佳选项。 A Breathe, Think, Do with Sesame It is a free research-based app designed to help young children develop skills such as calming down and solving problems. 【答案】24. B 25. C 26. D 27. C 【解析】 【导语】文章讲述了作者曾因沉迷Instagram而焦虑疲惫,于是停用账号,使用老式手机。他发现摆脱数字干扰后,生活更有条理,能享受闲暇时光,并重新发现生活的乐趣。 【24题详解】 词句猜测题。根据上文“A constant panic over lost connections, the emptiness of endless scrolling, and a nearly missed car accident…(一直害怕人脉流失的惶恐、无休止刷屏带来的空虚感,再加上一次险些酿成车祸的意外……)”和下文“Overwhelmed, I deactivated my account and bought an old Nokia.(不堪重负之下,我注销了社交账号,入手了一部老式诺基亚手机。)”可知,长期害怕人脉流失、无尽刷手机的空虚、险些车祸的经历,让作者身心消耗、倍感疲惫,由此可知,drained意为“筋疲力尽的”。 【25题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段“Without endless scrolling, hours have returned to me. I can use the otherwise screen time to be healthy or productive, but I can also use it to appreciate the lost art of idleness. I spend a good part of the day just leafing through magazines, drinking cups of tea, poking clumsily at the piano.(没有了无休止的滚动,时间又回到了我身边。我可以利用原本用于刷屏的时间来保持健康或提高效率,但我也可以用它来欣赏已经失传的闲暇艺术。我一天中的大部分时间都花在翻阅杂志、喝茶、笨拙地弹钢琴上。)”可知,作者不再被电子设备分心,把时间用来享受悠闲生活、全身心感受当下美好时光,是专注于高质量的生活瞬间。 【26题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“Some interactions, such as group chats, messages to friends and family abroad might feel urgent, but once I step away from them, I realize that the sense of urgency is a product of software engineering, my own anxiety, or a combination.(一些互动,比如群聊、给国外朋友和家人的信息,可能会让人觉得很紧急,但一旦我远离它们,我就会意识到这种紧迫感是软件工程、我自己的焦虑,或者两者的结合所造成的。)”可知,作者改用功能机后意识到:很多所谓紧急的信息互动,紧迫感被过度放大了。 【27题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“I now carry a film camera instead of a smartphone, and the deliberate act of taking photos brings me genuine joy. When people ask whether I miss my smartphone, I think back to the height of my addiction. I was constantly online, yet rarely present. How could I miss that time? I was hardly even there.(我现在带的是胶片相机而不是智能手机,刻意拍照的行为给我带来了真正的快乐。当人们问我是否想念我的智能手机时,我会回想起我上瘾最严重的时候。我一直都在线,却很少真正专注于当下。我怎么会想念那段时光呢?我几乎都不在那里。)”可知,作者通过降低设备等级(从智能手机到非智能手机、胶片相机),提升了在现实生活中的存在感和体验质量,享受到了真正的快乐。因此,作者的经历表明降低设备等级可以提升现实生活的体验。 C Armed conflicts are known to impact humans significantly, but their effects on animals have often been underestimated. 【答案】28. D 29. B 30. C 31. C 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。主要介绍了地区冲突对濒危大斑鹫迁徙繁殖等季节性行为的影响,以及当前动物保护法在应对冲突地区动物保护方面的局限性 。 【28题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段“A recent study in Current Biology highlighted that the migration (迁徙) and reproduction of the endangered Greater Spotted Eagle may have been influenced by regional conflicts. (《当代生物学》最近的一项研究强调,濒危的大斑鹫的迁徙和繁殖可能受到了地区冲突的影响.)”以及第三段“They migrate through Ukraine between wintering areas in southern Europe and East Africa and key breeding (繁衍) grounds in southern Belarus in spring. (它们在欧洲南部和东非的越冬地以及白俄罗斯南部的重要繁殖地之间迁徙。)”可知,最近的研究重点是大斑鹫的迁徙和繁殖等季节性活动。故选D项。 【29题详解】 细节理解题。根据第五段“When exposed to such events, the eagles might change their flight path to escape. The researchers found that while migrating through Ukraine, the eagles deviated (偏离) 10 percent more compared to previous years, which resulted in longer migration distances. (当接触到这些事件时,大斑鹫可能会改变飞行路线以逃脱。研究人员发现,在乌克兰迁徙时,与前几年相比,大斑鹫偏离了10%,这导致迁徙距离更。长)”可知,地区冲突使大斑鹫改变了飞行路线,即没有遵循它们典型的飞行路线。故选B项。 【30题详解】 细节理解题。根据倒数第二段“It only takes minor conflicts to push animal populations into the danger zone. “Even with the onset of what could be a fairly minor conflict from a human perspective, we see the average wildlife population declining,” Joshua Daskin, an ecologist at Yale University told  The New York Times. (只需很小的冲突就能将动物种群推向危险地带。耶鲁大学的生态学家Joshua Daskin在接受《纽约时报》采访时表示:“即使从人类的角度来看,这只是一场相当小的冲突,我们也会看到野生动物种群数量在下降。”)”可知,Joshua Daskin表示即使是小的冲突也会对野生动物产生负面影响。故选C项。 【31题详解】 主旨大意题。根据最后一段“However, very few have the resources to tackle the root problems. (然而,很少有组织有资源来解决根本问题。国际人道主义法缺乏明确的规则来缓解武装冲突中动物的痛苦。1995年禁止在保护区进行军事活动的草案等努力尚未达成国际条约。国际政策仍需大幅改进,以承认和保护冲突地区的动物。)”可知,最后一段主要介绍了当前动物保护法的局限性。故选C项。 D In the risky world of nuclear arms control, Princeton student Lepowsky is exploring how robots can make inspections more accurate and acceptable to host nations worried about invasive (侵入的) traditional methods. D. Lepowsky’s “Curious” Robots for Radiation Detection 【答案】32. A 33. C 34. D 35. B 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了普林斯顿大学的学生Lepowsky在核军备控制领域的研究,特别是他关于如何利用机器人进行更准确且为主办国所接受的核查工作的探索。 【32题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第二段““The host nation likely won’t want a human inspector poking their nose around,” said Lepowsky. “But even a robot has memory and sensors acquiring data.” The goal is to have high-confidence inspections without the robot saving information. For example, the robot would not save radiation measurements or create floor plans of sensitive areas.( Lepowsky说:“东道国很可能不希望人类核查员到处窥探。但即便是机器人也有会采集数据的内存和传感器。” 其目标是在机器人不保存信息的情况下进行高可信度的核查。例如,机器人不会保存辐射测量数据,也不会绘制敏感区域的平面图。)”可知,东道国不希望人类核查员到处窥探,而Lepowsky的机器人的目标是在不保存信息,如不保存辐射测量数据、不绘制敏感区域平面图的情况下进行核查。所以Lepowsky的机器人与人类核查员在数据安全方面不同。故选A。 【33题详解】 主旨大意题。在文章第三段中,首先提到“The new prototype (样机) is built on an iRobot Create 3 platform, an educational robot.(这款新的样机是基于教育机器人iRobot Create 3平台制造的。)”说明了机器人的样机是基于一个教育机器人平台搭建的。接着阐述“Robots offer advantages over human inspectors: they can tolerate higher radiation levels, are more consistent, and can be cheaper. They also can be programmed to generate trust, such as not using cameras to avoid seeing unwanted details.(与人类核查员相比,机器人具有一些优势:它们能够承受更高的辐射水平,工作更加稳定一致,而且成本可能更低。它们还可以通过编程来赢得信任,比如不使用摄像头以避免拍摄到不必要的细节。)”介绍了机器人相较于人类核查员的优势,以及为了赢得信任所采用的编程方式,比如不使用摄像头。还提到“The idea for the robot started with Lepowsky’s adviser, Glaser, who was curious about creating a “forgetful robot” that could perform highly accurate nuclear arms inspections but forget everything afterward. This led to an even more interesting idea: “Rather than forgetting, we’re not even remembering in the first place,” Lepowsky said. He believes this feature can reassure hosts concerned about privacy.(关于这款机器人的想法最初来自Lepowsky的导师Glaser,他对制造一个能够进行高度精确的核武器核查、但事后会忘掉一切的“健忘机器人”很感兴趣。这引出了一个更有意思的想法:“我们不是让它事后忘掉,而是从一开始就不记录任何信息。” Lepowsky说。他认为这一特点可以让那些担心隐私问题的东道国放心。)” 讲述了机器人设计理念的起源以及最终确定的“从一开始就不记录信息”这一特色,这些都围绕着机器人的设计机制展开。所以关于第三段中提到的机器人,主要说的是它的设计机制。故选C。 【34题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章倒数第二段“Lepowsky likes the interdisciplinary nature of his work — drawing on both his robotics and policy expertise — and he likes that it requires a breadth of knowledge, not just depth. He values that his research is grounded in real-life applications for global security and nuclear nonproliferation(防扩散).( Lepowsky喜欢自己工作的跨学科性质——既利用了他在机器人技术方面的专业知识,也运用了他在政策方面的专长——而且他喜欢这份工作需要广泛的知识,而不仅仅是深度的专业知识。 B“No-Memory Robots: The Future of Nuclear Checks?(无记忆机器人:核核查的未来?)”既突出了机器人“无记忆”的特点,又点明了其与核核查的关系,并且以疑问的形式引发读者思考,符合文章主旨。故选B。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Many adults are proud to share their fascinations with what others would label as kids’ toys. 【答案】36. F 37. B 38. A 39. C 40. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Para l: Then Kelly began her training, keeping it a secret from her mom. Every day after school, Kelly dashed to the boxing gym, occupying herself with the intense training. Even when she was made fun of by boys in the gym, she bit her lip tightly and continued her training. Finally, the tryout came. Extremely nervous though, she stepped into the boxing ring, moved fast and punched hard to the surprise of other candidates. After the tryout, Kelly left the gym confidently, knowing she did her best. Para 2: The following Monday, results of the boxing tryout were posted. To her delight, Kelly found her name on the list. At dinner that day, Kelly gathered her courage and said to her mom, “I'm sorry, Mom. I've made the boxing team and I'm ready to carve my own path.” At first, a flicker of disbelief and shock crossed her mom's face, but after a long, heart-to-heart talk, she gave Kelly a bear hug and whispered softly, “I'm so proud of you for being yourself. 急速去:dash to/rush to ②.嘲笑:make fun of/laugh at ③.感到骄傲:be proud of/take a pride in 情绪类 ①.紧张:showing one’s nervousness / nervous ②.自信地:confidently / with confidence 【点睛】[高分句型1].
